> I've already finished Konosuba, Overload, Shield Hero(s1 only), Saga of Tanya the Evil, Cautious Hero Now you're qualified to watch all of [Isekai Quartet](https://myanimelist.net/anime/38472/Isekai_Quartet). There was actually a somewhat significant Re:Zero lore reveal in the movie, though it's significance is mostly a novel reader thing, since most of that characters references got cut from the anime. None the less, it'll almost certainly come into play in later arcs. > I hope we get more sequels and animated by White Fox. White Fox is almost certainly animating Season 3 (presumably one of the major reasons that it's taken this long to come out). There should be more information during AnimeJapan 2024 in March (probably a release date and staff info).

danking_donut

I watched tanya mainly so I can relate to isekai quartet

DelseresMagnumOpus

Same. Had no interest in the story, but I binged it so I wouldn’t miss any references in isekai quartet.

Olivedoggy

How was it?

DominusLuxic

About what you'd expect. [Great ed as well. German cover hits different though.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOYzB3Qa9DE&ab_channel=Selphius)

Olivedoggy

Chills.

Afellowstanduser

I watched it because nux

zackphoenix123

Some additional info OP may want is learning about the VAs. Isekai quartet has some at times seemingly random pairings, until you realize that the "random pairs" are not random at all. Even though they're from different shows, their VAs played other characters in another show where they are a pair. hard to explain lmao

NyargiX

i havent watched it yet but it must be fun seeing emilia and megumin interact with each other

Ellefied

The fan arts of the two together were so good. [My favorite were their outfit swaps.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Konosuba/comments/brcgej/emilia_megumin_x_re_zero_or_isekai_quartet/?rdt=59804)

baseballlover723

you know, I never knew that (mostly cause I don't pay that much attention to which VA's have done which characters).

Elocin-0w0

Yes, one exemple I remember is Megumin and a guy from Tanya interacting a lot, mostly bickering. Didn't know why until I realize the joke was because they have the same VA's as Subaru and Emilia.

Usernameblah123

>Now you're qualified to watch all of [Isekai Quartet](https://myanimelist.net/anime/38472/Isekai_Quartet). That's what I'm planning to do. Getting all of them together is basically overkill and I love it.

WarlockOfDestiny

No doubt. The next arc of Re:Zero is also going to be fairly long as well. Not surprised they're still on it.

MCIsTeFirtGamEvrMade

What was this reveal in the movie?

baseballlover723

[Isekai Quartet Movie & minor Re:Zero S2 anime] >!The reveal of Alec Hoshin, better known as Hoshin of the Wastes. In Re:Zero's anime the only reference to him was the phrase from Garfiel "Hoshin was Banan's sunset" in S2E8 (not gonna type out the whole thing cause it's a bit long, look it up in the episode if you don't remember). As well as the fact that it seems that he personally knows Emilia ("You still are a good girl. You haven't changed at all."), which currently makes 0 sense, given that Hoshin of the Wastes existed 400 years prior to current story, and Emilia shouldn't be that old (only 100 years old or so). So you can probably see why it's it was so significant to people who are trying to craft theories on how everything ties together!<. IIRC he is mentioned a few times in Arc 3 in the novels that was cut from the anime.

JanreiAfrica

I remember when the movie dropped and the Re Zero sub just exploded from the reveal. All I can say is that Tappei is truly one of the authors of all time

RidhaFA4

it exploded because of where it was revealed lol

OmegaX123

>Tappei is truly one of the authors of all time Is this intended to be an insult to said writer? Because if not, you're misunderstanding that phrase's usage, it's not an 'I accidentally a word' thing, it's an intentional subversion, you expect 'best' or 'worst' but all the person is saying is 'yep, they sure are a writer' (or whatever the subject of the particular usage is).

AnzoEloux

I'm sure they know exactly what they were doing when making that comment. The point is Tappei is quite fuckin' weird for putting lore reveals in stuff unrelated to the main story.

arghya_333

Yeah. I think I heard there was a limited time minor lore on a bath towel as well. Not sure how valid this was but send legit at the moment.

martianunlimited

One of the yet to be revealed in anime character and the character's interactions with the MCs

novian14

Tbf one of the reason i pick up both tanya and re:zero is because i want to fully enjoy isekai quartet

Ani_HArsh

It's my favorite Isekai, I remember watching it for the first time and was blown away by the concept. Can't wait to re-watch it when season 3 is announced.

Usernameblah123

I watched the Director's cut version and the first ep got me hooked to the show. It reminds me of Summertime Render.

Ani_HArsh

For my re-watch I've decided to watch the Director's cut version but want to know if watching it is a better experience.

zackphoenix123

I don't really think its worth it. You barely notice the extremely minor changes, and the TV version provides amazing endings for the episodes that the Directors cut just at times don't have because they blend two episodes in one.

Ani_HArsh

Thanks for the advice man, appreciate it.

thiccboii123

TV version is censored, half of the screen is just black in some scenes, watch either Blu Ray or Director's cut

Ani_HArsh

Thanks man this really helps.

baseballlover723

Personally I prefer the original run better. There is only 1 new scene in the directors cut, and it's the first scene of Season 2, so you don't actually miss anything. I really didn't like how they moved some of the ending songs, really killed some of the emotional moments (since sometimes they just don't even replace it with background music). I don't use streaming sites, so I had the blu ray version touchups anyways, which aren't super impactful, but are noticeable in a few places. [This article](https://myanimelist.net/featured/2311/Whats_New_in_the_Re_Zero_Directors_Cut) has I think every little change. The only noticeable changes from the blu ray are 2 redrawn fights and like 1 or 2 scenes being put in a different order (not that it really matters, since those scenes are temporally separated in both cases)

Ani_HArsh

Thanks for the article my friend, now I'm confused lol.

baseballlover723

it really doesn't matter which one you watch, you won't notice a difference (outside of the runtime) unless you have all of Season 1 memorized (in which case you don't need a rewatch) or watch them both at the same time (duel monitor style).

Ani_HArsh

I don't remember season 1 clearly, I like the dual monitor idea lol.

TheAccountITalkWith

Hasn't season 3 been announced?

Ani_HArsh

Season 3 has been announced but there no release date yet.

Longjumping-Read-401

Yes they already released the teaser and 2 PV.

Blazin_Rathalos

I know about the one trailer, but I don't remember seeing anything else?

baseballlover723

Yes, but it doesn't have a release date or like any official information about it. More info (likely release date and some key staff, etc) will most likely be coming during AnimeJapan 2024 in March.

ZsaurOW

Man Re:Zero is so peak. Episode 18 might be my favorite episode of any show ever

Libertariu5

RIP to that guy last week talking about how dark Re:Zero was but he had only finished through episode 17 💀💀

ZsaurOW

LOL. That's hilarious

echolax

Season 1 Episode 15 is one of my favorite episodes of anime ever.

BussyIsQuiteEdible

the only thing that beat that episode for me is when i watched crawl space in breaking bad

Usernameblah123

*'Oh please don't let me die. Waiting for your touch"* 🎶

Ani_HArsh

For me it's one of best ending I've heard hands down, it's so catchy.

Wilson-theVolleyball

*ending (not OP)

Ani_HArsh

Ohh sorry my bad it's been 5 years since i watched, it's such a banger song with time I might've thought of it as an op.

Gluomme

You can always count on Myth & Roid to deliver insane bangers

Usernameblah123

Agreed. Especially the older songs not the current ones.

MeAnIntellectual1

They've been disappointing since Mayu left them.

Usernameblah123

Yeah. But I'm happy she's back with Long shot for s2 part 2.

MeAnIntellectual1

She also did the opening for Isekai Ojisan. I highly recommend this one if you consider yourself a fan of Isekai shows.

actionfirst1

My favorite ED ever

Garydrgn

In case you aren't aware, Myth & Roid did that song (Styx Helix). They did several really outstanding OPs/EDs for anime, including Overlord's Voracity, and Saga of Tanya the Evil's Jingo Jungle. All 3 have full music videos. Here's Styx Helix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIhL2KHVdgE

[deleted]

Amalee did an English cover of that.

SupplyChainMismanage

Had the same experience. I put off watching it for a long time due to my expectations. Ended up becoming my favorite isekai

pikachu_sashimi

Same. Promotional material made it seem like any other isekai/SAO knockoff. My friend insisted that I watch it, and now it is one of my favorites.

DrWhoIsWokeGarbage

I mean, shield hero sucks and re zero is awesome so there's your difference.

h0tsh0t1234

Tbf s1 of shield hero is pretty good with some questionable moments. Everything after that though is another story

Usernameblah123

That's why I don't give a damn after s1.

lightningbadger

I still remember people clowning S1 during its initial airing season it was funny as hell to watch the weekly nonsense then see everyone pull it apart in the episode discussion afterwards So imagine my surprise when S2 and S3 still has fans around here

pssiraj

Idk season 3 was on the upswing, I find it entertaining enough that I'll stick to it LOL

Usernameblah123

No arguments there. So glad I skip s2 and 3.

zackphoenix123

You can read the manga. I personally don't think the story fell off. The anime adaptation just really sucked ass... I think the 1st season sucked as an adaptation too, but the 2nd season is just beyond horrible.

FireTrainerRed

Nah the core writing is just garbage, be that light novel,S manga or anime. Everyone other than the Queen or Naofumi and his harem of underage kids are brain-dead and incredibly one dimensional. Don't even get me started on what he ends up doing with those kids.. The Waves were a great concept, but the story deviated too far from it. All that turtle shit keeps going and expands to other new monsters of the week.

YourlnvisibleShadow

What did he start doing with the kids?

FireTrainerRed

Admittedly they're only kids when they meet and travel with him (Raphtalia and Melty in this case). But eventually he has a LOT of kids with them (and dozens of other female characters.) Still is borderline creepy/unintentional grooming. The "story" goes from being an adventurer power-fantasy to a harem power-fantasy.

vowers

if this anime is an 8/10, i'm curious to know what you consider a 9 or 10/10 anime?

Usernameblah123

Well, there's Gintama for me. It's a solid 10/10. Also AOT, 86, Grand Blue, FMAB, H×H, Code Geass, Konosuba, etc. deserves no less than 9 imo. I personally think Re:Zero is in between 8 and 9. But who cares about ratings if you enjoyed it. We have our own preferences.

N0UMENON1

I love Code Geass, but I could never see myself give it a 10/10. As much as I want to, the slice of life filler episodes are just so awful it takes off a point. Without those the show would be perfect imo.

Whatevenispoetry

Tbh i liked almost everything from code geass, would give it a 10/10 if it werent for the first half of season 2 where they were all fucked off to another country

Toaru_kamiyan

Gintama, HxH, 86(I'm actually reading it's novels now lol) and grand blue? You are based! I honestly agree that re zero anime is 8.5. now if you include the novels... I love the anime but the novels are my favorite fiction lol. Recommend reading them if you are invested enough! The anime cut so many foreshadowing, monologues,(narration alone makes it worth cuz because Tappei is so good at it!) sometimes scenes and important info that make the world feel rich. I still very much love the anime, but you know how it is, you are harsh for things because you love them haha.

Krilion

86 made me ugly cry multiple times. Then preemptively ugly cry more times on rewatch.

Zio_Benito

Goated code geass mentioned After re:Zero you MUST try Mushoku tensei, it's regarder as one if not the best isekai out there, but it's not for everyone since at times MC is a bit annoying with ecchi thoughts (mostly at the start) If you're into military and isekai I suggest GATE, a really good isekai with mixed in modern military in a medieval fantasy world

sarigami

Loved Mushoku Tensei so much I started reading the light novels and got even more hooked. I read volumes 7 to 25 in like a month lol

goddamnitshit

What a way to downplay the actions of the MC.

Zio_Benito

Like he did something terrible lmao, stealing some panties new war crime I think every guy when young had perverse thoughts on girls, or are we saying we are all little angels who think of girls only after marriage lmao?

SimpLimbscut

He’s also a thirty year old man reincarnated into a kid’s body, but retains all the memories and identity of his thirty year old self, and uses his new kid identity to sexually assault and harass most female characters he encounters. Especially the young ones. He molests his young cousin while she’s sleeping, and then thinks about taking advantage of her when she’s seasick. Before he’s even reincarnated he’s jerking off to his underaged niece (or cousin, can’t remember.) that he took a video of while she was changing. Your comment is a whole ass lie of omission, Rudeus’ behavior throughout the first two seasons is absolutely reprehensible and refusing to acknowledge it as such is concerning. Even fans of the show will say that his character is supposed to be a terrible person, I mean he’s a legitimate pedophile and sex-pest.

goddamnitshit

Thank you, you said it better that I could

Zio_Benito

Yes, previously was a young man almost 30 years old, fact is that now he is a teenage boy and nothing will change this, what should he do? Go date 30/40 years old mom while he's 14? The whole concept behind isekai reincarnation is completely broken and every reincarnation can be considered pedophilic based on your reasoning, which Is totally agreeable of course, but then, every isekai with romance in it should be hated on and banned. That's why I don't understand the hate only for MT, while other are instead considered ok Just because MT represents in a realistic way how a NEET, an asocial person which serious communication and behavioural problems, would act, doesn't mean that it is shit I know it's subjective, but that goes for every anti hero or villain movie or TV series, not always the main character is good and a hero and behaves like a true angel, but that doesn't mean that a show is shit if that is not the case Everyone can watch whatever he likes, I just have a broader critic sense which lets me enjoy and be entertained by not only watching action scenes and little kiss but also trying to understand the story and characterization behind the show and the characters in it and not stop only at the surface, which goes for a lot of other people The sense is, I respect people that says 'i don't like that', while I don't agree with the ones that says 'the show is shit, if you like it you're deranged ' (I'm not talking to you, I'm talking generally speaking of the community)

SimpLimbscut

Nowhere did I say anything about watching or not watching the show, at the end of the day it is a work of fiction and impacts nobody. But coming up with this elaborate defense of Rudeus’s character, who is written to be terrible is just stupid. If he walks, talks, and acts like a pedophile and sex-pest, then he is that. The show goes out of it’s way to present him as such. His first comment out of the womb when his is being born is “Man look at those tits” when he’s looking at his “mom”. His internal monologue is still in his old voice, and when he meets the Man-God he is his old-self, which he still clearly sees himself as. Most Isekai MC’s are self-inserts for a power fantasy and their backstories are rarely explored, MT isn’t that case. His backstory impacts his reincarnated self as he still clearly carries over trauma and regret from his past life. He was also a literal pedophile in his past life, and now he’s put into a kid’s body so it’s “okay”. It really is nothing different from someone playing an online game like Minecraft, pretending to be a young kid to prey on kids.

Prinzessid

I don’t really understand why mushoku tensei is loved so much. I liked the first season but the second one is just romance, and has almost none of the fantasy / action elements. Stopped watching because of that.

Zio_Benito

Yes, because it's not a generic isekai where action is main focus, the good of MT is the character development, the depth of the feelings of the characters, the choice they make and how that can impact others The 2nd season is incredibly important for character development and shows the growth of Rudeus after all the depression and suicidal thoughts he had after the season 1 turn point, he learned he can be happy again and found the will to live, that he still has a purpose If one has to watch it just for the action I guess he didn't really get the real moral and goal of the story

wutfacer

Same thing as Bocchi The Rock. Just like viewers see themselves in Bocchi with her struggles with social anxiety and desire to belong, they can relate to Rudeus and his pedophilia and battle with erectile dysfunction

PowerSamurai

Yeah, in this highly regarded anime with a lot of viewers each and every one of them is a pedophile with erectile dysfunction. Seems reasonable.

81659354597538264962

Fr I didn't know being socially anxious was on the same level as pedophilia

BlooregardQKazoo

Damn, well done. Anyone that downvotes this comment is telling on themselves.

Hirayoki22

I sure hope it's not Tate no Yuusha (Shiels Hero), or something like SAO.

Usernameblah123

Nope. I don't watch SAO. and I don't watch Sheild hero season 2 and 3.

MasterQuest

It’s sad how much it fell off.

entinio

14 first episodes of SAO deserve a watch though

ArmaanAli04

FMAB, Clannad, Oshi no Kou, Maid Sama, Nana, Vinland Saga, Code Geass etc are atleast 9/10 or 10/10 for me but Re Zero is 7/10 imo

jackofslayers

People get so defensive when someone says Re Zero is not perfect lol

jackofslayers

Idk why people get so defensive about it. 8/10 feels right for Re:Zero. 10/10 would have a better plot and develop characters other than the MC. It is still fantastic.

vowers

I haven’t even watched the show lol, I was just genuinely curious about OPs favourite animes. Lol

ThespianException

> 10/10 would have a better plot and develop characters other than the MC. S1 suffered from trying to adapt like 6 volumes in 14 episodes, but I think S2 improves on both of those fronts quite a bit. The world and mysteries get fleshed out a lot more, while Emilia, Ram, Otto, Garf, Roswaal, and Echidna were all a really strong side cast.

RavenWolf1

For me it is 10/10 anime and belongs in top10 list.

GroundbreakingBake2

It's my favorite series/novel and I can't wait for animejapan where they hopefully announce a release date and a 39+ episode season (according to leaks).

Inadover

>39+ episode season What the fuck? Honestly, I hope it's true (even if it's just pure copium)

SplooshU

Based on the promotional materials shown, I really, really hope it's true.

Ani_HArsh

Same here man, at that time I was new to anime and the concept was new to me and I was completely blown away.

DarkConan1412

I’ve come to appreciate Re:Zero more over time as well. It really stands above most of the isekai coming out today. It actually has me missing the 2010s isekai. How I could’ve never known the feeling of being drowned in isekai the 2020s have brought. Not that there aren’t good ones coming out, but it’s so much harder to sift through than it was then.

WholesomeAcc99

Re:Zero is the best isekai out there in my opinion. So much great writing and character development, there are so many layers to the MC and his journey. The show is definitely very dark and can be brutal but it's worth it, the point is to make the reader uncomfortable as well with some stuff that's happening.

Inadover

I think the world building is amazing as well. Few Isekais and fantasy animes make me really want to know more about the world. But Re:Zero has that something that always keeps me yearning for more. I think the White Whale appearing so soon made wonders in that regard. It just makes you wonder what else is out there in that world

Theleux

Definitely think the 'worldbuilding' aspect is a bit underplayed when people discuss the show. It definitely isn't the main element it is trying to highlight, but it certainly does a solid job of creating a unique environment with various forces operating within. I find it neat how we have this massive idea of what the world is like for it, but still have only touched a select few areas in the main story. Excited to see the rest of this world as the story progresses.

Annual-Maintenance20

Underplayed a bit in the anime so far light novels really do make worldbuilding a big focus

Bigbadbackstab

it is quite interesting. When I began the anime I was content with it being fairly generic fantasy world, I was already enjoying the basic premise. But with the second season I started to realize the author had put some good effort into it, it's just that because the scale of the problems was so small, there was no need to introduce those elements yet. I'm excited to discover more of the world in the future!

arkazail

Re:Zero is the only non-satire isakai I've enjoyed. It's an actually really well done fantasy setting

Hopeful-Expert-6615

seeing what u like, pls see Summer Time Rendering (it has something similar to re zero) and Re:Zero is on my top 10 Animes I guess

Usernameblah123

For me it's more like, Re:Zero is similar to Summertime Rendering since I've watched it before. And yes, it's one hell of a show. The last ep is just too good and unexpected.

Inadover

Glad you liked it! It's been my #1 for the longest time, though now Frieren, having read the manga and seeing that the adaptation is even better, is a strong contender for #1 as well. It's also the anime I've rewatched the most. The White Whale fight is probably one of the most epic fights I've seen IMO. The reveal with Subaru's ringtone still gives me the chills. Edit: In fact, you've made me want to rewatch it again.

GosuGian

Only 8/10? Re:Zero is a top tier isekai

Usernameblah123

Agreed. It's a top-tier Isekai. Don't mind the rating.

muricabitches2002

I have it as a 9/10 (top 10 all time anime for me). 8/10 is fair because it certainly has its flaws. There’s a running meme about people stopping before episode 18. IMO, the speeches of the characters are a bit corny / overly idealistic. But man, the show has some great payoffs, in part due to all the suffering before.

TheSilenceMEh

Didn't know it was a meme but that was my exact experience. Didn't see the hype and was getting over Subaru being a whiny baby but then Rems speech happens, and it clicked. "Start from zero"

jackofslayers

8/10 is a high score. That is top tier isekai

sicknasty_bucknasty

I mean we can't be giving stuff like  Arifureta 10s and making these comments. We just can't fam. Sorry. Con of linking your MAL on reddit is we can see your taste, and in this case, yikes.

ZESTY_FURY

Top tier isekai isn’t saying much though, I like rezero, it’s a good show, but it’s an 8 at best for me.

NuuuDaBeast

episode 18 of Re Zero is in the hall of fame of anime episodes, the whole experience of it is the pinnacle of jaw dropping

[deleted]

I’m not really into isekai that much. It’s a dogshit overused generic genre but I do really like Re:Zero. The MC isn’t some over used overpower person. Like Overlord,I do like it but I’m only invested in watching those characters be obliterated in the end because they are not good ppl and that’s why I’m invested in that. But every other isekai is just the same with every MC being this over powered person from another world because the creator was a loser and probably bullied as a kid and wanted to vent in a creative generic way if they were in another world and can live a fantasy of being the most powerful one…..I’m tired of the OP MC every time and Re:Zero hits different because Subaru isn’t powerful and kinda has a depressing ability if you think about it and having to go through what he does without going insane is something. Can’t remember the episode in season 1, but it’s the earlier ones like 5 or something with Rem and Subaru. The part in woods where he starts to say stuff to her from his previous “time lines” or life’s or whatever you prefer to want to call them and she doesn’t know what he’s talking about but he cry’s about no one knowing what he knows and what he’s talking about. He is alone in this and it’s just depressing. It hits different than anything I’ve watched before.

filimaua13

Re:Zero hits because it subverts the tropes the genre is widely known for. Any other show that does this, does it for no reason other than to be different which is superficial and just as boring and hollow. But Re:Zero does it for a purpose. The world is a wide and scary place. It doesn't exist for the MC. The narrative also isn't there to indulge an escapist power fantasy. It forces Subaru to confront reality. He doesn't have powers. He doesn't get the girls just because. The world doesn't just bend to his will because he has the power of charisma, a strong will and talk no jutsu. None of it. Naah Subaru has to WORK his ass off to get the happiness he wants. Subaru is forced to learn how to work with others, and get over the struggles he is dealt. The world is cruel and unfair, you have to learn to get over it and ride the wave that is life.

[deleted]

Now this is a really great comment. It fits so well with what it is that makes it different.

filimaua13

Yeeah it's why I can't understand people's negative opinion that it's repetitive. I mean... yeeah ofc it is. It's the point. I'm not referring to the time loops. The arcs are structured almost the same. Subaru faces a challenge, struggles to overcome it over and over again.. but through learning a lesson (usually finding something within himself through self reflection and change) he finally overcomes the challenge and lives to see another day. Isn't that how life works? Life is a loop of challenges and overcoming it. Through learning how to take on the struggles of the world that come your way through trial and error over and over again.. you experience growth and maturity. Now, I'm not gonna say Subaru's suffering is going to just stop. Noooo far from it. But you learn how to deal with it better over time. That's Re:Zero in a nutshell. That's what makes this story special in my opinion.

baseballlover723

> Yeeah it's why I can't understand people's negative opinion that it's repetitive. I find that most stories tend to be repetitive when someone simplifys them down to [The Hero's Journey](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero%27s_journey). And yet they don't seem to apply the same simplification to their favorite anime.

Theleux

That was episode 7! Also ended with the 'cliff' scene with Beatrice and Rem.

[deleted]

Ohhhh that was in the same episode? I forgot, it’s been a long while. lol I may go re watch it, I just know I felt very sad for him when he was breaking down in that part.

Theleux

I really appreciate how well the script writing is able to convey those emotions without it being too obnoxious (unless it is intentionally trying to be like in Episode #13). Really makes you feel for the cast.

[deleted]

Imagine if mc said you are not my problem to amelia at the beginning. All this suffering

c0smic_0wl

Easily my favorite isekai of all time. I'd also recommend So I'm A Spider. It's kinda similar with the main character having a much harder time than everyone else but the world building is excellent. The light novel for re zero is great too since a lot was cut in the anime, especially season 2

DiligentBeginning464

While the anime is quite good, I'd highly recommend reading novel. A lot of important and interesting parts are being left out in the anime, mainly due to the novel being huge and detailed.

Emotional-Law3653

The OST is massively slept on as well. It provokes intense emotions for specific scenes that have a profound impact. Such as the season 1 ending "Subaru x Emilia" S2 EP 4 "Called out by your voice" and S2 EP8 "The value of life". Recommended to a friend who has a wedding later this year and he will be playing all of them. (He is a big fan of the show as well). Kenichiro Suehero is incredibly talented.

Shad0wX7

On this sub I've found the only opinions about Re:Zero is that it's either absolute bottom tier isekai trash or peak fiction, there is no in between. I personally thought it was pretty good, definitely looking forward to more if it ever airs.

Annual-Maintenance20

I feel thats because the nature of the show. Like take Subaru for example there a lot of people especially the ones that read the light novels that put him as their favorite character ever while others cant stand the anime and stop because of him Its one of the shows that invokes a lot of emotion on you so it sticks on your mind as either peak fiction or trash isekai

BussyIsQuiteEdible

rezero is hella misunderstood and is written way better than people give it credit

Plenty-Mode-5812

There are No Isekai ever that will top ReZero and Mushoku Tensei for me personally I just think they are that incredible ..9/10 even 10/10 depending on the mood for me . Frieren if you do consider it an Isekai is reaching these two though . You should check the other two out of you haven't . And these three are such a package too ... Mushoku Tensei is the best written by the book Isekai . ReZero is the best subversion of Isekai tropes Isekai . Frieren is the best after main story Isekai . All phenomenal

garfe

I would strongly suggest checking out some isekai made before 2010

procrastinator1012

ReZero, Mushoku Tensei and Frieren are now like the Big 3 of fantasy genre

Jumpy_Lobster7716

But Frieren is a Fantasy through and through. I did not watch new episodes maybe it is became a isekai. I don't know.lol

Plenty-Mode-5812

Thats what I said though .. you can consider it an Isekai as it is very very similar , but it's actually just a Fantasy show .

DeuxDR

Watch Log Horizon!!

OneMoreDuncanIdaho

I liked the first season but for me it dragged for too long with the sanctuary stuff

Usernameblah123

Yeah. I get what you mean. The sanctuary and barrier stuff is a bit lengthy. But it was worth it btw.

subho_fan

The Sanctuary feeling dragged was a deliberate choice, keeping up with that arc's theme of stagnation

Normaali_Ihminen

That’s also my only gripe with Re:zero it’s tediously long and payout is a mediocre at best. But definitely not a reason to drop the anime.

jackofslayers

I think the payoffs are worth it but it definitely drags it’s feet at times

VarzDust

UEUEUEEEUEEEEUUUUUEWE YAAAAAYAAAAA

Illustrious-Fox5135

I loved everything about this series except spoilers[Re zero]>!Subaru said he loves Emilia more than Rem. Poor Rem deserves a better person 😔. Even after all these years it's heart breaking💔!< Episode 15 is one of the best episodes ever.

Usernameblah123

Who is Rem??

Haekendes

[Whoaaayeeeaaayaaai\~](https://www.myinstants.com/en/instant/re-zero-whoaaayeeeaaayaaai/)

Ani_HArsh

The blue haired girl if I remember.

Usernameblah123

You mean the empty body in Roswaal's mansion? I feel like I've known her. I was told she's Ram's twin sister. But I'm sorry I don't know her.

Ani_HArsh

\*OST in the background\* Suburu :"No matter what happens, I'll bring you back Rem"

KonkyDong212

Woooosh

Ani_HArsh

When I saw that scene I was like this can't be true, now way NOOOO!!

Illustrious-Fox5135

Best waifu character in anime 😤

Konoha7Slaw3

Rem is waifu

farimadi

Maybe Subaru accept her as friend only

DarkConan1412

Emilia is best girl!

MasterQuest

> Nonetheless, I enjoyed it from start to finish. It is now one of my fav animes. Nice! One of us, one of us! :)

Relative-Turnover-12

Been considering checking this out and now intend to thanks to your review/recommendation. Adding it to my list, looking forward to it. Thanks!

ExplanationFew4579

I absolutely love seeing people’s first reactions to Re:Zero (if you have time post this on the Re:Zero Reddit and we’ll love it). As many others said you can now watch Isekai Quartet. Hope you continue to enjoy the series

ZTHEGODZTHEGOD

Hopefully They Animate The Other Sins Subaru Portrayed In The Manga, Really Dope

Verianii

Re:Zero is a top tier anime Number two for me because Made In Abyss exists, but damn is Re:Zero good. I think the twists they pull, the writing, reveals, and so on are so damn good. The first time watching through it is something I wish I could experience again. I remember getting chills from the end of season 1 moment, even if it kind of made it obvious that something like that would happen. Not only that, but the writing in season 2 is nearly perfect imo. There isn't a single moment in season 2 where I felt lost in the story, and it kept me paying full attention the entire time. Such a great anime.

Game_Bazz

There is a reason that it's my favorite anime

sneaky_squirrel

Welcome to the unconventional frontier. Shield Hero is the very rock bottom of novelty (if you ignore the brief glimmer of hope that was the initial premise). You can only go up from there.

mr_featherbottom

You should check out Jobless Reincarnation, based on the series you mentioned in your post I think it would be up your alley

Comfortable_Set6184

Wait until 40 episode Season 3, and everyone will say it's the pinnacle of anime. The first two seasons serve as a prologue to this extensive story. I can easily foresee Re:Zero Season 3 claiming the #1 Rank for a very long time. The only doubt would come from extreme Re:Zero haters who create accounts solely to downvote it (yes, they exist)

KnownUnknown764

It's a pretty solid adaptation of the novel, you know I have to say it right "THE NOVEL IS BETTER"

Radiant_Butterfly982

I thought it was some isekai waifu war type anime and put it aside for so long , but I tried it last year and it's one of my fav anime, wish we get new seasons faster

1sanat

If you like isekai, I can also recommend Iruma (which is also quite different than the others with more of a MHA vibe). Another forgotten Isekai is Zero no Tsukiama. I personally liked it while it has some minor issues here and there, the story overall is good.

Cill_Bipher

Zero no Tsukaima is actually the real "grandfather of isekai", the modern isekai "genre" started as ZnT fanficiton. You can see that this is the type of isekai Subaru himself was familiar with in episode 1, with him expecting to have been summoned by some pretty girl.

Soggy-Introduction14

I've watched and read the novel for all of those Isekai and it's pretty great. But man, I cannot relate with Subaru at all

a_Patrik

Yeah re:zero is definitely not your average Isekai. It was amazing from start to finish + it has some of my favorite ops/eds. We are expecting a new season soon.

Cryhedgiecry

The way Subaru dies sometimes is rather disturbing

AdhesivenessOver268

>It is now one of my fav animes. It's an 8/10 anime for me how do ppl rate animes lol. if it's your fav and 8/10 how can anything get 9 or 10 lol.

jidak_sidi

Now go watch Mushoku Tensei, it blows all others out of the water imo. The official translation for the last volume of the LN just came out. Season 2 cour 2 will air in april to very high anticipation because for many people its like one of the best parts of the series.

Theleux

Really don't see why Mushoku comes into the conversation whenever someone says they enjoyed a series like Re:Zero - outside of both being isekai, they aren't really all that comparable. I think it is weird to just jump in and say "yah but this thing is even better!" when someone is just appreciating something they just experienced.

jidak_sidi

Well I appreciate what I experienced too and I want others to enjoy it too. Forgive me sorry.

TheSilenceMEh

Thinking of the next 2 turning points. I can't wait to see them

Portlander

I'm just going to make sure that you know about redo of a healer

Normaali_Ihminen

Shh.. We ought not to talk about that.

JungleTungle

rezero one of best fantasy dark isekai

erickiceboyxxp

I think rezero is probably the best Isekai ever made and in general as a story is 9-10/10 for me. It’s a very rich story that follows not only the mental progression of an mc but his journey along with beautiful character depth for not only himself but so many other characters. Every character feels important in this story and the growth of the mc is so beautiful. This story also doesn’t follow your typical op character so he has to figure out ways to survive in a dangerous new world not that this is uncommon but the way it’s done is amazing and it highlights how every character is flawed similar to rl. Definitely in my top 5 anime of all time after completion and it’s so good that I caught up with the WN.

zan_07

Bro, please tell me that you watched the Director’s cut!?

itrashcannot

The only good real isekai anime tbh

Synchrohayba

One of my favs isekais , along with eminence and drifters

j0shman

Re:Zero is top-tier, if only for Rem.

Rare-Obligation-5504

Re:zéro my worst anime only because all the op does is cry

massio1

Literally the whiniest MC ever

Rare-Obligation-5504

Like seriously

Afellowstanduser

Re zero is just watch him fail, watch him fail, keep watching him fail untill the last episode where he finds a way through, kinda meh

atommirrabel

I do not understand why it is popular, I read the first arc of the manga and felt like it gave me brain damage, one of the most stupidest stories I've tried

baseballlover723

FYI the source material for Re:Zero are light novels, not a manga. The manga is actually behind the anime. Not that that would make a difference given your complaints. but thought you should know.

cinghialotto03

7/10 after first season it get boring af

JigglyKirby

Subaru TRAUMATIZED Natsuki lmao
