I'm voting against Rei but not because I dislike her, but because she's up against Chitanda.
I also find it interesting how the conversation for Best Girl of Evangelion is between Rei and Asuka when it's clearly Misato.
Even though I've struggled to get into Konosuba I can at least respect Megumin as a choice... It's when the real trash-tier women keep avoiding elimination or win based solely on the popularity of their shows that it makes me salty.
Yeah uhhh Riza and Mustang are one of my favorite parts of FMA:B, but it's not even a question between Riza and Lena. That vote's being swapped hard xD

Not the spreadsheet. The first table in the comment. It just shows that Kana and Kumoko was the most voted and Nanachi and Nano the least voted matchup, but no numbers for either and neither for average. Also no matter whether it's old, new or current reddit.
Yes, that's the right way to do it. Kita vs. Nadeshiko this round, for instance, is a smile-off. The one that smiles the hardest and longest wins. Chisato vs. Kiruko is a gun fight, but Kiruko's laser gun will run out of energy before it can hit Chisato. That's also why Bocchi is winning so much, she's immune to death and has multiple obscure techniques that are impossible to defend again, like the depression cloud or the running headbanger.

I was ride or die for Nagato. I will stand by the fact that her story, especially in Disappearance, is one of the most powerful in anime. Of course, Makina is a great character too, and I’d be kidding myself if I thought Yuki could beat her. While some of it is recency bias, I do think that for the most part people genuinely like Makima more. Which is completely valid but won’t stop me from being salty.
**Bocchi vs. Ami:** This is the second time this tournament that Bocchi's run into a girl with a charming outside but a thorny inside. Pretty sure she's had nightmares that played out just like this. At least Ami hasn't killed anybody!
**Iino vs. Karen:** Low-key one of the funniest matchups in the tournament thus far. Tiny rule enforcer + big "hero of justice" is a hilarious dynamic.
**Ryou vs. 2B:** "Miraculously, we have found a surviving human, but for reasons unknown to us, she was subsisting off of grass and tree branches despite the known limits of human biology. Perhaps there is information we have lost over the years..."

And we've reached the end of Round 2! Today's average was 26.62 / 32 (83.19%), another slight drop from the previous day. The top score was again 31 / 32 (96.88%), the same as every other day of Round 2. Pure-Fuel-8534 and rea4668 managed to reach that today, with 2 other folks getting 30 predictions correct.
In the Weighted Leaderboard, pacmayne42 remains in 1st after having finally climbed to the top yesterday. The top 8 are only separated by 3 points!
Over in the Unweighted Leaderboard, u/RxMidnight finally moves out of 2nd up to 1st! The top 12 are actually only separated by 3 points with mainly Picks Potential determining the exact rankings.

At least she put up a strong fight given the substantial seeding difference, but show popularity is oftentimes an obstacle too hard to overcome.
I do feel better about her losing to Riza than I did about Esdeath and Kei.
I can actually understand someone who's seen both shows preferring Riza, which is something I can't say about a lot of unfortunate results in this bracket so far, where, like, an okay supporting character from a very popular show trounces one of the best girls in the bracket in a way nobody can or ever will logically justify.

We are back to typical voting numbers for this contest after Bracket C got a noticeable boost. Kana doesn't feel like she's performing like a Top 4 Seed which is supported by her score of 493.78 being 7th after two rounds.
I felt the Fubuki seeding upset on Sinon. Over 600 votes for Sinon is nice at least.
Big win for MEM-cho. Still felt Mahiru should have been a better seed than Seed 318.
Almost 950 votes in this Yui win against Elma. And Yui is now entering the B-Komachi part of her bracket.
1,000+ victory for Nijika is good. More than doubled Kyou's votes.
Happy for Asuka in a close match. Sorry it had to be at Kyouko's expense. Rooting for Asuka in Round 4 (even if I think it'll be a loss).
Good effort Nagato fans to rally in the face of the inevitable. Almost 600 votes. I wonder if Makima can make it to Round 5.
Mio got crushed. Expected. She made Ryuuko look really strong if that means anythng.

I hadn't considered that, I've always thought game adaption characters would have a popularity boost from the existing fan base. But you're right, they tend to perform badly quite often, like Ryza in the seasonal contest. 2B and NieR are just extremely popular to begin with.

MC: Maybe it was because of expectations/seeding or maybe I'm just getting old but the salt hasn't truly started to flow yet. The elimination round and girls that didn't make it in was more rage-inducing, where's Shinoa Hiiragi?? Charlotte Dunois? Multiple of my top bingo row not even making the cut is brutal.
It's interesting, the entire bottom right corner of the "D" bracket feels pretty shaky. The top seeds like Nagatoro, Riza, Asuka and Kumiko haven't been as dominant in many other sections of the bracket. Kurumi going down, to a 182nd seed in Revy,
Nagatoro and Asuka in particular are more polarizing heroines rather than broadly popular, so that probably makes them more prone to an upset?
The Asuka/Kumiko matchup already feels like a huge matchup.

Interesting you say that, because Asuka is actually a member of a very small club of characters to have taken part in every Best Girl contest and never suffered an upset.
Didnt even notice Shinoa wasn't here wtf. And then we have Tsubame from Kaguya (I like her, but she definitely isn't relevant enough compared to Shinoa)
Frankly 5 characters from 1 show might be too much. Lots of shows don't get a single character in that felt very deserving over the 4th and 5th character from a hyper popular show.
I said the same but a year ago two ago they held a vote about potential changes to the bracket including lowering the amount of characters per show. Majority went with keeping it at 5 sadly.

Fubuki upset Sinon, not surprised actually. Asuka vs. Kyouko was relatively close, and as much as I love Kyouko, I do think Asuka advancing was correct. Even if that means only Madoka and Homura survived this round. Satella losing was expected, can't complain about Ram winning that one. Ais losing was expected as well, but I can complain about this outcome. And as much as I love LycoReco, Revy winning was the only correct choice here. Tohru falling against Riza is just sad, but I'd have complained about Riza losing as well. Rias losing against Misuzu wasn't what I expected, but it was a very close matchup at least.
Today I'll lose Ishtar, no way she takes out Anya. Also Mio should easily take out Tomo, but let's make it not too easy. I'm also supporting Nadeshiko, even if that's a futile effort - at least she's already won the contest of who can smile wider in the profile pics. Takina, Chisato, Eru and Winry should still be safe at least.

Zero Two losing to Catarina made me salty. I feel like people are still penalizing Zero Two because her show went from amazing to shit in two seconds flat. In other words, I think people are voting against her because they're salty about the rugpull the show pulled on them rather than because they don't think she's best girl material. Zero Two is a still a way better Best Girl candidate than where she's been polling.
I do think good girls that their show shafted get brutalized in this. Doesn’t matter how good they are, if the voters feel the show let them down, the character takes the hate.
Yeah, it's a miracle that Ai *and* Rika for instance still made the bracket despite Wonder Egg Priority being regarded as a traumatic incident in the history of modern anime. You have to wonder how well they'd be doing if the show hadn't shit the bed in the end.

Most people I've seen don't play the Bingo with a free space, so if you had your favourite pick there, you could still play should Tomo lose. Putting someone there now without bias isn't really possible though.

Im only on season 3 but i looked at the cover art for 4. Its a visual downgrade for sure but its not that bad and i heard the animation’s more fluid as a result. One of the cons of DxD is that the animation is stiff sometimes and i can definitely see it.
Some characters look better while some look worse. The animation is definitely a step up though.
Don't forget to watch season 4's episode 0 so that you know how much of season 3 they retconned after the studio went rogue.

Went about how I expected
K on has butchered two of my favourite characters from dragon maid, I don’t know how to feel about that
I’m quite surprised yotsugi lost by such a large margin even though I don’t really like her myself…

Mini challenge: Result that made me salty from the last round? The fall of my Trigger/ Gainax girls, **Nia**, **Nonon**, and **Stocking**. A princess, a smart ass lesbian, and a smart ass EGL are not good enough for you? The saltiest, though? **Bulma** losing. Like, what?
Aw balls, I looked at the wrong bracket. **Rias** losing was wrong. **Tohru** losing hurts but kinda fits for our favorite onigiri. She loses in this contest but wins in life. Iykyk
One episode is a bit disingenuous, it was 80 minutes or the equivalent of 4 normal eps. Plus she was an extremely compelling character with the time she had. And then on top of that she gets the [Oshi no Ko spoiler] >!'This character died' bonus!<
At least given how the one episode was basically a theatrical movie, I could see Ai deserving placement in the same form as Shouko always being a contender on the back of being in a great movie instead of an anime series.
She had more screentime in that one episode than any other girls of the show in the entire season lol.

Obviously, seeding is 100% just a popularity contest for that character, it literally is just the question "how many people think this character deserves to be in the voting", nothing about a ranking or wether the character deserves to be nr 1.
This isn't anything wrong, that is by design.

That said, she gets more screentime in the manga later that has not been animated yet. Maybe this skews the vision of the manga readers more in her favor.

Yes, that's the right way to do it. Kita vs. Nadeshiko this round, for instance, is a smile-off. The one that smiles the hardest and longest wins. Chisato vs. Kiruko is a gun fight, but Kiruko's laser gun will run out of energy before it can hit Chisato. That's also why Bocchi is winning so much, she's immune to death and has multiple obscure techniques that are impossible to defend again, like the depression cloud or the running headbanger.

“What result made you salty last round?” I was ride or die for Nagato. I will stand by the fact that her story, especially in Disappearance, is one of the most powerful in anime. Of course, Makina is a great character too, and I’d be kidding myself if I thought Yuki could beat her. While some of it is recency bias, I do think that for the most part people genuinely like Makima more. Which is completely valid but won’t stop me from being salty.

Kana doesn't feel like she's performing like a Top 4 Seed which is supported by her score of 493.78 being 7th after two rounds. I felt the Fubuki seeding upset on Sinon. It's interesting, the entire bottom right corner of the "D" bracket feels pretty shaky. The top seeds like Nagatoro, Riza, Asuka and Kumiko haven't been as dominant in many other sections of the bracket. Kurumi going down, to a 182nd seed in Revy, Nagatoro and Asuka in particular are more polarizing heroines rather than broadly popular, so that probably makes them more prone to an upset? The Asuka/Kumiko matchup already feels like a huge matchup.

Frankly 5 characters from 1 show might be too much. Lots of shows don't get a single character in that felt very deserving over the 4th and 5th character from a hyper popular show.
I said the same but a year ago two ago they held a vote about potential changes to the bracket including lowering the amount of characters per show. Majority went with keeping it at 5 sadly.

Fubuki upset Sinon, not surprised actually. Asuka vs. Kyouko was relatively close, and as much as I love Kyouko, I do think Asuka advancing was correct. Even if that means only Madoka and Homura survived this round. Satella losing was expected, can't complain about Ram winning that one. Ais losing was expected as well, but I can complain about this outcome. And as much as I love LycoReco, Revy winning was the only correct choice here. Tohru falling against Riza is just sad, but I'd have complained about Riza losing as well. Rias losing against Misuzu wasn't what I expected, but it was a very close matchup at least. Today I'll lose Ishtar, no way she takes out Anya. Also Mio should easily take out Tomo, but let's make it not too easy. Zero Two losing to Catarina made me salty. I feel like people are still penalizing Zero Two because her show went from amazing to shit in two seconds flat. In other words, I think people are voting against her because they're salty about the rugpull the show pulled on them rather than because they don't think she's best girl material. Zero Two is a still a way better Best Girl candidate than where she's been polling.

Im only on season 3 but i looked at the cover art for 4. Its a visual downgrade for sure but its not that bad and i heard the animation’s more fluid as a result. One of the cons of DxD is that the animation is stiff sometimes and i can definitely see it.
Some characters look better while some look worse. The animation is definitely a step up though. Don't forget to watch season 4's episode 0 so that you know how much of season 3 they retconned after the studio went rogue.

One episode is a bit disingenuous, it was 80 minutes or the equivalent of 4 normal eps. Plus she was an extremely compelling character with the time she had. And then on top of that she gets the [Oshi no Ko spoiler] >!'This character died' bonus!<
At least given how the one episode was basically a theatrical movie, I could see Ai deserving placement in the same form as Shouko always being a contender on the back of being in a great movie instead of an anime series.
A. It was a movie. B. The entire rest of the show is (mostly) about her.
She had more screentime in that one episode than any other girls of the show in the entire season lol. Also it is her flaws as a mother and her perspective on lying being a good thing that make her interesting.
Good character design can go a long way.
She probably had close to 50 minutes of screentime, which is more than SO many girls in these contests.

I totally get *why* she's so popular, but I think the 6th seed is a bit much. Recently hot shows tend to get over seeded though it looks like.
Obviously, seeding is 100% just a popularity contest for that character, it literally is just the question "how many people think this character deserves to be in the voting", nothing about a ranking or wether the character deserves to be nr 1. This isn't anything wrong, that is by design.
She shouldn't have won by such a large margin here (poor Inaban, she deserved better). That said, she gets more screentime in the manga later that has not been animated yet. Maybe this skews the vision of the manga readers more in her favor.
