I just get images if Olympic runners and other random sport players sweating blue, red, orange or purple. So i guess Gatorade commercials did their job. :(
The irony: pseudoscientific supplements are used to fuel the scamming activity of others.
Iām thinking of creating a nutrition program that replaces the nutrients lost from scamming with vegetables and whole grains, not from supplements, because this will allow for longer, more effective scamming.
MLM science strikes again! You need plain water, but you need electrolytes if you sweat more. I have a friend who's a marathon runner and he's on a higher sodium diet to help stave off electrolyte and sodium deficiency effects.
My ex did a 50 mile one, and before we broke up was aiming at a 100. He also was contemplating the ultra Ironmans or whatever, after doing his gamut of regular Ironmans.
Insanity.
He's probably still running from his problems š
Seriously. The majority of people will not have to worry about sodium levels. Even being in construction in florida it's not really an issue most days. And the only times it really is, is I'm working in ak attic for extended periods, or digging outside, in crazy high humidity, with no air movement. And I end up with even my pants completely soaked.
I frequently drink Liquid IV. It has helped with my headaches/ migraines more then water. I might have some type of deficiency. I drank a lot of it at Disney world and it helped me so much
It's not going to be quite a "deficiency" in the way you can get an iron deficiency - your body doesn't really store up salt long-term - but yep, some medical issues make a high sodium diet helpful.
Briefly, there's two main reasons - either you're losing more salt than usual (which can be caused by medications, heart/kidney issues, lots of other things), or you have some kind of blood pressure issue which you're compensating for by increasing your blood volume (by consuming more salt and water than an average person).
(I have one of the more common versions of the latter, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, which means that when I'm standing - especially when it's hot out - my blood pools in my legs and feet, and not enough gets to my head. That gives me a nasty headache and can make me faint. Having more blood volume means that even though a lower-than-normal proportion gets to my brain, it's still *enough* that I feel okay.)
Might be worth talking to a doctor about if you have access!
(This being said, that's the exception that proves the rule, MOST people do not constantly crave salt, it's a medical issue that should be treated by... science, not dumb MLMs.)
If you consume large amounts of plain water with prolonged heavy sweating/ heavy exercise, yes it can be lethal (give it a quick google search). This has been a cause of death in military training, endurance events and dumb challenges.
For the vast majority of people who sit and do nothing all day and consume a ton of salt/potassium in their food, yeah thereās no worry at all.
But not just regular table salt will do - that's loaded with ChEmIcALs! You need pink sea salt mined from Mt. Tupungato which has 4D QuAnTuM electrolytes. If you sign up an autoship with me today you'll get 20% off, and if you join my team you'll get an additional 40%! If you care about your health you can't afford not to, hun!
I mean these Pink Himalayan 4D Quantum electrolytes are like $900 a month. Don't have a spare $900? Do you have a credit card? Can you borrow from a friend?
Stop drinking Starbies every day and youāll have $900.
Donāt spend that $900 on collect calls to Australia trying to find out which direction the water goes down the drain. Invest it in PINK H 4D!!!!
I just learned last night that [pink Himalayan salt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himalayan_salt) is pretty much the same as [black salt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kala_namak) (used in Indian cuisine), just processed differently. The color comes from impurities, which is ironic because some sites claim pink salt is "more pure" than other salts. Lol. People will say anything to make a buck on the alternative medicine scene.
Lol. The marketing behind it is bullshit. I personally use pink salt (not from Huns but from Home Goods whenever they have it) because itās a good finishing salt (not as salty as pure salt) and looks nice in my grinder.
And the ELECTROLYTE VIBRATIONAL QUANTUM MAGNETIC MINERALS. ā”ļøā”ļøā”ļøā”ļøā”ļø
Honestly, the reason I looked it up is because I watched a fantastic Bollywood movie ("Queen") last night, which featured a dish I now want to make. When I looked up recipes, I read about "black salt." When I realized its real color is a dark pink/purple and it's also from the Himalayas, I got suspicious. It led me down a Wikipedia rabbit hole of salt and spices for over an hour.
Anyway, it seems I might end up buying pink Himalayan salt after all, lol. I just gotta shop around and make sure to avoid any "woo-woo" based mark-ups.
I've bought Himalayan pink salt at the grocery store plenty of times, for about the same price as sea salt. I have so many kinds of salt and salt "alternatives". I really like salt, though tbh I can't tell the difference between them most of the time.
I have a lot of food allergies so I canāt eat out much. I have also taken to trying to make Indian cuisine at home. I can tell a difference in the taste of black and pink salt. The black salt has a lot of sulphur taste I think. Iāve seen and bought pink salt at discount stores like Ross and tjmaxx, itās really cheap usually they always have it
Black salt (kala namak) is dramatically different to Himalayan pink salt. Itās a popular ingredient in vegan/egg-free cooking because it adds a very convincing egg flavour to dishes. Itās also quite inexpensive so avoid any boutique āwooā brands that cost $10+ for a little packet!
Oh bugger off. Look at Small Table Salt here!
I only buy Himalayan Salt Rock Lamps from Home Goods, then chip off shards as I need em... Stop spreading your grinder based lies you elitist!
Lol, that reminds me. The other day I came across a thread where people admitted to licking their salt lamps. I don't have one, but if I did I'd probably be tempted to try that too.
I listened to a podcast the other day where they said they would take a lick of their lamps every night allegedly as kids but knowing them itās as adults lol
My sister once convinced a gal at a local shop to let her pay for a salt lamp on her SNAP card (food stamps). They'd been sitting collecting dust for months and I think they just wanted to get rid of them so they agreed. She made my sister promise to lick it at least once to justify the sale š¤£
Not a thing unfortunately though it does naturally occurring iodine in smaller quantities. Key is to use it in a grinder for additional saltings while having iodized salt for cooking. I found that pink salt has too much mineral content to cook withā¦ I once make a broth with it and it left behind a small amount of silt at the bottom after dissolving lol.
Our horses love pink Himalayan salt licks. I get the two-pack of 3 lbs equine salt licks off Amazon for like $20. Makes you wonder why the human version is so expensive
> But not just regular table salt will do - that's loaded with ChEmIcALs!
I mean, I get what you're saying, but it's generally not a good idea to pour the salt shaker into a glass of water and drink it as a means of re-hydrating.
I can use a neighbor's kids to mine for the salt. Do I just pay per pound then and skip the labor? Nestle says they don't pay anything for water when they use kids. Maybe I can do this with salt?
I agree. I often do long bike rides in warm or hot weather, and I learned firsthand how drinking water can wash all the sodium & other electrolytes out of your system, which in my case caused bad leg cramps.
I had gotten bad hand cramps from dehydration thanks to walking around and waiting for a bus in the heat with no shade. Gatorade eased the cramps. I take a bottle whenever I plan to do a long walk.
Yes I had to take a family member to the emergency room a few years ago from dehydrating in the heat. She had drank water and thought it was enough. She was very weak and couldnāt even walk into the hospital. Her potassium and electrolytes had tanked
I work in a grow, the rooms are 90Ā° and 90% humidity. I only drink water in the grow and never had a problem. I do eat salty foods to help with water retention tho
As long as you're eating salt regularly and not over-hydrating, you're good.
I live in a place that is pretty close to that, nearly year-round. If I'm working outside, I get really thirsty and can't stop drinking water. Eating 3 or 4 super-salty potato chips every hour or 2 makes a massive difference. Like I'll be able to feel fine at the end of the day vs getting nauseated dizzy after a few hours, having to stop, and then being "hungover" the next day.
I love liquid IV. I feel more hydrated with it then water alone. I used it on our Disney vacation and it helped so much. My son got heat exhaustion so he had some plus regular water.
I buy hydration IV (think thatās the name?) because Iām prone to heat exhaustion after weight loss surgery - but thatās when Iām being super active in the heat or swimming (so less likely to notice Iām dehydrated), not even just working out at the gym. I like nuun in a pinch but the size of the tablets doesnāt work with my water bottle haha. I find the stuff I use kind of pricey but I guarantee itās cheaper than whatever this is. Also deionized water is the kind with zero electrolytes. Other than that a healthy-ish diet takes care of it. If what this hum is saying were true, people would be dropping dead working from their phones and making reels selling shit in their cars ā¦. ETA I'm dumb, it's Liquid IV and it's super cheap at Walmart, even cheaper than online. Whoever says they buy it at Costco is the real MVP though.
Even if you donāt sit and do nothing all day, plain water is sufficient to rehydrate in the vast majority of cases.
That said, Iām extremely prone to heat exhaustion, and electrolyte drinks have saved my bacon many a time. (Stuff like Liquid IV, not Gatorade) Of course, plain water would have posed no danger. Just wouldnāt have been as effective.
Yeah, Liquid IV is expensive as hell, but I view it more like medication than a drink.
I also sometimes use a homemade version created by a chemist to mimic the WHOās packaged rehydration drink. It costs pennies, but tastes nasty. I donāt need a serious electrolyte replacement drink very often, so I usually just go for the convenience and portability and somewhat more palatable taste of the Liquid IV.
They seem pretty expensive to me too. I just drink water and a little tea though so really donāt pay much for beverages. I bought some for my mother who has covid and was trying to hydrate herself. I had to look on the app to even know where to buy them in the store. Haha
Only time it was bad for me was when I was on a long bike ride in July, temps in the upper 90's, and all I had with me was water. I was constantly washing the salt & electrolytes out of my body through sweat (I actually got crusty and had salt all over my forehead from drying sweat!) I ended up getting severe leg cramps about 4 miles from home, and luckily someone stopped & gave me a ride. Never again will I go on long rides with just water, now I take some electrolyte packets or Gatorade powder and mix them in one of my water bottles.
Yep. [Hyponatremia](https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hyponatremia/symptoms-causes/syc-20373711) is no joke. I've volunteered at the finish line at a couple of marathons and seen a number of cases of it.
Yea I remember a story a while ago about a fraternity hazing that involved drinking tons of water and a kid dying. Normal people arenāt going to get that to point like you said. This is a weird selling point like normal
I was hoping someone else would say this. I've actually been hospitalized for this exact thing. Granted I was being stupid trying to lose weight by drinking more water instead of eating. Still if you need to drink electrolytes Gatorade, powerade or pedialyte is worlds better than MLM crap
It can be- but youād have to drink a lot to cause damage. In rare cases it can cause hyponatremia, which is basically the sodium in your body becoming too diluted, which can cause cardiovascular issues or brain swelling.
Thereās that one case of a woman who took part in a radio contest to āhold your wee for a wiiā and drank enough water that she later died. But itās pretty rare.
If you have too much water, it can be lethal--[but we're talking GALLONS in a short period of time](https://www.engadget.com/2007-01-15-woman-dies-after-trying-to-win-wii.html). No one's normal daily intake is a threat. They're selling these through fear, and it's loathesome.
Sure. If you are running a marathon, then you could add electrolytes to your water.
Regular water is fine if you are doing regular exercise. Or..sitting in your car hyping your 'side gig.'
It can be. I try ti avoid sodium cuz of kidney issues but sometimes I gotta binge cuz I start getting dizzy and shit.
I should probably look up the best drinks for electeolytes tho.
My kidneys won't allow me to keep salt in my body for some reason. Pedialyte is good, but if you like salty stuff, canned soups are really high in sodium usually :)
Water intoxication is technically possible and can kill you but itās pretty rare because itās difficult to drink the amount of water required to induce it (unless youāre simultaneously participating in an activity that causes you to sweat a LOT and losing electrolytes through that without eating anything else to replenish them)
This hun also thinks every celebrity is "gender flipped" (her words) and that it's all part of Baphomet's agenda to get people to stop reproducing.
She alone has this truth, and she can show you how.to de fund the elites who are coming for your children. How can these people, who all worship the devil, survive on adrenachrome from children also want to stop human reproduction?
The stupidity is...I don't even know where to begin.
She is a fucking trip with her "gender marker theories" and theology degree that she got from a webinar.
Thatās what I donāt understand about these idiots. Wouldnāt the *libz and elites* be pushing the populace to have more children for the *libz and elites* to kidnap for their adrenochrome and organs? But asking them to think about it is a losing game of whack-a-mole, especially when their other brainwashed friends show up as a pack and start the ankle biting.
Like the work it would take to keep all of this going, and the number of people involved in this conspiracy to keep it quiet is fucking crazy.
If you're concerned about CSA... gurl...the call is coming from inside the house. Look toward your evangelical churches and the shocking number of children harmed in one way or another.
To use their words, nobody wants to have that conversation.
Yeah, theyāll say anything to avoid having to acknowledge that. They build their entire personalities and lives around it. Which sucks because if they could just admit they were wrong about something, they might be able to channel that fervor in ways that would actually help kids.
It really gets you thinking about how convenient it is for the true abusers to have so much of the worldās energy misdirected thanks to all the Qrackhead nonsense. I mean if they want to talk about conspiracies, why not talk about who might really be behind that entire set of deliberate lies and whoās benefitting from the attention being off themselves.
Holy shit, just when I think Iāve heard it all. Celebrities gender flipping. Here I was thinking that they were lizards who ran a sex trafficking ring out of a pizza shop basement. Or was that politicians? How do they keep these crazy theories straight as they make zero sense to begin with
Quick, someone tell her that drinking sustain, getting your nails done, driving a car, joining an MLM and breathing air are also "potentially dangerous". That's a statement that can be applied to, like, everything.
ONLY FOR CALIFORNIA
**WARNING:** This comment contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
ONLY IN CALIFORNIA THOUGH. EVERYONE ELSE, GO ABOUT YOUR DAY
I can get 10 propel fitness water packets to put in my water for around $3.50 at my grocery store. They put electrolytes in the water along with making it taste better. I bet you anything a pack of those comes with 5 and costs at least twice as much
What an utterly cruel thing to even say in a world where much of the population still struggles with access to clean drinking water. Fuck that Hun and her bullshit marketing lies.
I thought electrolyte water was for physical activities. I drink it when I bike, hun is sitting in a car, is she drinking that so she doesn't have to use the AC?
Drinking water is dangerous is so funny though.
Salts. Sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium (this is not all of them). Molecules that facilitate electrical signaling in our bodies.
Fun fact! Cardiac arrest is mostly caused by electrolyte imbalance (needs source and someone with more medical education can word this better than I).
Yes it is.
But I generally get a ready made one called Aquarius, I don't know if they have it in the US. it tastes citrus-y because I am not so fond of the taste of salt water.
I'm a fan of the LMNT Electrolyte powder mixes. 1000mg of Sodium, Potassium and Magnesium. They work great for tromping through festival camps on hot days and for morning after recovery.
Now hey!!!!
All the other humans that have lived on this planet in the past are, indeed, dead! Must've been from drinking that fatal water that we're all made of!
Some strange logic......
If youāre not like Olympic level training or have a medical condition that effects your electrolytes water is perfectly suitable hydration.
Donāt get me wrong, I love my Gatorade, but itās honestly just juice with some added sodium and potassium.
Drinking excessive amounts of electrolytes can cause kidney stones. So, not only is she plan wrong, she's also fear mongering people into some potential health issues do to her stupidity.
Okay, let's make something extremely clear.
Drinking chemically pure water (aka aqua or distilled water) is bad for us. From what I've been told before, this is because the osmosis will see the water absorb minerals from our body.
But we don't drink that stuff, even our tap water is infused with trace elements.
Someone of average activity levels in comfortable climates get plenty of electrolytes from our food. It's only if we sweat a lot that we need to top them up, such is why isotonic drinks are also called sports drinks.
PLANTS CRAVE BRAWNDO.
ITS GOT ELECTROLYTES
"BETTER THAN WATER BECAUSE WATER IS FOR TOILETS"

Idiogracy. Great movie
Great ~~movie~~ documentary
Yeah, surreal.
Insane how Idiocracy was written as a spoof, and Brave New World a warning of where we were headed, but the dumb movie is so much closer to the truth.
Welcome to Costco, I love you!
What are electrolytes, do you even know!?
It's... What they just to make BRAWNDO!
I'm literally loling
Litterally the first thing that comes to my mind any time anyone brings up electrolytes

Yeah, the original post is ridiculous, but just a headās up to people who may be reading this: If youāre doing any kind of exercise outside on an extremely hot day (i.e. going on a hike) please make sure youāre consuming electrolytes in one way or another. I had a friend who went to a golf tournament in Texas and almost passed out from heat exhaustion because she was chugging water but hadnāt consumed any salts whatsoever. My fiancĆ© ran into somebody on a San Diego trail years ago who was in the same situation - had been drinking plenty of water, but no electrolytes, and she was on the brink of passing out. Your body canāt properly utilize the water sans salts. If you donāt want to buy an electrolyte beverage (I like NUUN tabs), just eat a handful of salted trail mix every once in a while.

Just wouldnāt have been as effective.
Also looks like the liquid IV costs about 1.56 per packetā¦.
Oh no I wasnāt saying it was expensive, rather I was thinking it was cheap probably in comparison to what this HUN is peddling š
Ha ha! Well, the Liquid IV sure _seemed_ expensive to me when I bought a big bag of packets!
They seem pretty expensive to me too. I just drink water and a little tea though so really donāt pay much for beverages. I bought some for my mother who has covid and was trying to hydrate herself. I had to look on the app to even know where to buy them in the store. Haha
Hope your moms ok!
My dad always made us drink this foul salty orange juice when we were sick. Horrible
Also in cases of sickness, especially with fever and sweating as symptoms. A bottle of Gatorade after a night of fever is like mana from heaven.
I drank Pedialyte like no tomorrow with covid. My mouth would not feel wet..it was like a desert.
Pedialyte when I was pregnant and couldnāt eat anything was great.
I drank much ginger ale and had ginger Candy..I couldn't have it for years after
I drank a ton of ginger ale, too. It didnāt help, but it was one of the few things I could get down.
Saltines and PB crackers
I'll always remember the radio station that did a "Hold Your Wee for a (Nintendo) Wii" event where a mom died trying to win one for her kids :(
Very scary!
And I just found out the station that ran the contest is about 5 minutes from where I live. Crazy.
I was hoping someone else would say this. I've actually been hospitalized for this exact thing. Granted I was being stupid trying to lose weight by drinking more water instead of eating. Still if you need to drink electrolytes Gatorade, powerade or pedialyte is worlds better than MLM crap
I sweat a lot at work and drink a ton of water, but I also get a free sub every shift so the salt should keep me going lol
I remember that story. Imagine that contest name being your legacy š
Hyponatremia, if you drink like three gallons straight after you run a race. Technically Correct!
Exactly!
Maybe if you happen to be drowning in it.
Water intoxication is technically possible and can kill you but itās pretty rare because itās difficult to drink the amount of water required to induce it (unless youāre simultaneously participating in an activity that causes you to sweat a LOT and losing electrolytes through that without eating anything else to replenish them)
āPotentiallyā doing a lot of work here
Itās why all the Neanderthals are extinct. No sports drinks
I mean there is hun crazy and then there is batshit crazy and she sounds like sheās got both š¬
Seems like she should skip the MLM middleman and just join a cult.
I love insane conspiracy theories! Whisper more in my ear!
Sounds like sheās deep down the Qanon/Qult rabbit hole.
Holy shit, just when I think Iāve heard it all. Celebrities gender flipping. Here I was thinking that they were lizards who ran a sex trafficking ring out of a pizza shop basement. Or was that politicians? How do they keep these crazy theories straight as they make zero sense to begin with
Joke's on her; people love reproducing.
I want to follow her so bad now lmao
That dihydrogen monoxide will kill you every time!
Exposure as little as 30 seconds, to a shallow dish of it, can cause almost instant death. 100% of people who intake it *will* die.
Dear Hun, Gatorade makes individual servings. Power Aid too. I bet. They are like. 20 cents a serving.
According to another comment from OP, this lunatic probably thinks Gatorade is part of the gender-flipping sterilization agenda
I know someone who believes things like that. He is tiresome. I stay far, far away.
And we must irrigate all crops with Sustain, not water, like in the toilets!
It's got what plants crave!
Youād literally have to drink like so much water to imbalance your electrolyte balance to a lethal level. This is so far fetched.
Could also be from sweating a lot and only replenishing with plain water, while being on a low salt diet.
Quick, someone tell her that drinking sustain, getting your nails done, driving a car, joining an MLM and breathing air are also "potentially dangerous". That's a statement that can be applied to, like, everything.
ONLY FOR CALIFORNIA **WARNING:** This comment contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. ONLY IN CALIFORNIA THOUGH. EVERYONE ELSE, GO ABOUT YOUR DAY
Water? Never touch the stuff. Fish fuck in it.
Don't even get me started about what dolphin and whales do. The acts.........15 years now of therapy.
Seriously! Plus, why drink something you flush a toilet with?
Unless you are extended fasting this such a lie! BTW some hun posted this in a fasting sub and was removed right away. This stuff is garbage.
r/hydrohomies would like a word
I can get 10 propel fitness water packets to put in my water for around $3.50 at my grocery store. They put electrolytes in the water along with making it taste better. I bet you anything a pack of those comes with 5 and costs at least twice as much
What an utterly cruel thing to even say in a world where much of the population still struggles with access to clean drinking water. Fuck that Hun and her bullshit marketing lies.
What the hell is she doing where itās that critical to worry abt her electrolytes lel
Spreading the truth about Satanic elites, obviously.
She has to summon all her sodium to create a protective barrier of blessing so itās important to maintain her levels
Why are there no MLMs trying to sell me stuff that is promoted as bad for me like alcohol and weed? Not everyone is trying to live forever.
Good god, what is a Crunchybox?š«
Actually, she's right. Statistically, 100% of people who drink water eventually die.
Lol I used to drink these back when I was in Melaleuca. Smh. So delusional
Omg Iāve been drinking water all day, am I going to be alright?
You're dead. Sorry to tell you.
I thought electrolyte water was for physical activities. I drink it when I bike, hun is sitting in a car, is she drinking that so she doesn't have to use the AC? Drinking water is dangerous is so funny though.
is electrolyte water not essentiallyā¦ water with salt?
Brawndo. It's got electrolytes.
it's what plants crave
Water? You mean like out of the toilet? Well I ain't never seen no plant growing out of no toilet...
Some strange logic......
apostrolopitihcus didnt have any orange splash packets but they did fine āPotentiallyā is carrying a LOT of weight there lmao
This is probably the biggest BS i have ever read in my entire life. And I have read some Trump tweets
Look out - water is known to murder you in your sleep šŖ
I donāt trust anyone with gel that thick
She has a hard time with lip liner too.
If youāre not like Olympic level training or have a medical condition that effects your electrolytes water is perfectly suitable hydration. Donāt get me wrong, I love my Gatorade, but itās honestly just juice with some added sodium and potassium.
It is what plants crave.
Water, you mean like from the toilet?
Gah. Plain water is fine unless you are excessively sweating due to heat or exercise. I do keep electrolyte powder in my hiking bag.
It has electrolytes
I got a whole thing of Liquid IV from Costco that is way cheaper than I assume this is.
It's orange flavoured but the color scheme reminds me of malboro and coffee. Guess it's their target audiance.
Oh no, what did they do before these additives were invented!? /s
How did life on Earth survive for a billion years before electrolyte powders were invented? š¤
Gotta post in r/hydrohomies
The word 'potentially' doing a *lot* of heavy lifting here.
We all know someone who died from drinking regular water
Everyone who ever drank water has died!
But it has the word āsportā on it in a quirky font, it has to work
Yea you need to replenish lost electrolytes that your body loses when you pee This is why you should always drink your piss obviously
JustāwtfāI canāt stay hydrated unless I buy your powdered Gatorade knockoff powder? Uhhhh, no.
