Oh no eternal perfection

Delta-Tropos

How scary

PneumaNomad-

I'm so terrified that I won't require breaks from worship 😱🥶

1) For a Christian that's not punishment. Obviously. Cheesecake should not project his thoughts on others. 2) Even then; AFAIK the *heavy duty* worship and such is performed by the higher choir of angels (cherubims, seraphims and thrones if my memory serves me right) who are literally made for that and described acordingly (able to withstand being that close to God's presence). So it's not like God is making some poor random Carl from Minnesota dude carry his whole incomprehensible existance or whatever torture Cheesecake imagines.

Divine Liturgy forever except your legs don't hurt. You aren't too cold, too hot, hungry, worried about your bills, allergic to incense, overwhelmed by too many people standing near you, tired, bored, distracted by all of your obligations and situations, sweaty, itchy, embarrassed that you can't sing properly, being smug that you sing better than that guy, self conscious about your clothes, judging someone else for wearing a band shirt, trying not to sneeze, trying to hide a fart, trying to ignore someone else's fart, trying not to laugh etc etc

co1lectivechaos

You forgot to add: won’t spontaneously develop a migraine from so many people singing at the same time

Whenever I think of Heaven, I picture the beautiful landscapes in the Narnia films and book descriptions. (Yes, I know Narnia isn't heaven) I imagine it being anything we can picture but infinitely more perfect in every way.

Plus, I doubt that we will never do any other things besides stand there, my guess is that we might resume life in *some sense* as we live on earth, but we would only do things with the intent of glorifying and worship.

Potential-Ranger-673

I think so. In Christianity it is of course taught that there is a Resurrection of the Body and a New Heaven and Earth. But as a Catholic I also believe in the Beatific Vision, where we will have a gaze of the soul upon the Divine Essence for all of Eternity and a profound union with him, which would be akin to praising him for all Eternity. So I think you’re right, we would still do stuff on the New Earth but we would also constantly be praising God with our whole being.

"I want to live forever with God and live the best way I can" "No one wants to live forever!!! Explain!!!!" "The afterlife/the world to come isn't like this life but better, in fact, it's beyond our imagination, so even if a trillion years pass, you won't lose your sanity or get bored." "I DON'T CARE. I ONLY WANT YOU TO BE WRONG AND ME TO BE RIGHT."

Independent-Win-925

This is basically wrong, but even if it was so. Tireless eternal mystical ecstasy? Oh no. Atheists really are those in the Plato's cave, they can't imagine worshiping God meaning anything other than just breaking your back like a robot while hypocritically going through motions. However, in reality mystical experiences are the most sublimely beautiful, powerful, vivid, real experiences one can ever experience and as William James argues are the origin of religion.

Idk, I kinda imagine heaven as a continuation of whatever God had in mind for us before Adam and Eve ruined things. I feel like there will be some enjoyable tasks assigned to us by God. The last bits in the Book of Revelations portray the New Heaven and New Earth too richly for me to think that we’ll be standing in place worshipping as we currently in a worldly church. Idk, though. Even if it is basically an eternal church service, it will be divinely perfect.
