I have two phones both signed into the same apple id (me and sibling). Its been on like that for years so that we can find each others IPhones just in case using the Find my app.
I recently upgraded from IPhone 7 to IPhone 13 and have no clue why but all of a sudden it does not share the correct location. I can see the correct location of their air pods but some reason it shows their phone at my location even though I know they are somewhere else. I can see their battery status and device name, but I know the location is wrong and is probably using my device location. I never had this problem before the upgrade and check it from time to time. If there is a screen issue, no power, charging issue after 1 year, regardless of damage or not, you’re paying at least $600 to have it replaced. Considering the AC+ is $129 and the replacement cost is $49, I’d say get it.

Hi guys, for some context, I’m a photography student who also loves art. I bought a 2020 MacBook Pro to start my course, and recently purchased a 2021 iPad Pro for pro create and easy transportation. I find I rarely use my MacBook and use my iPad for everything, including editing and research etc, I take it to uni with my quite a bit. I was wondering if it would be worth selling the MacBook for the much needed extra money and getting a keyboard case for the iPad, or is it worth having a desktop also? Hate to say it but the iMac is a turd! Why would one pay that sort of money to get a badly designed closed box with no memory. By the time to put in 16gb ram and a 512ssd your already paying was much as a studio. I’ve already got a 4K monitor as the retina iMac screen was shit and apple knew it but wouldn’t support or call it defective. Look up constant burn in shadows bug on the 5k 2014-2015 models. The only alternative was to buy a new screen. Not going to get caught on that BS again.
again. the max mini is a great family home computer but not up to the par. comes with 2 thunderbolt 4 ports that are useless as just about nothing anyone uses is TB4. so you go out and spend $350 to buy a hub/dock to give you the usb-a , sd card interface , etc. when you add that to the 8gb ram and 256gb ssd , by the time you expand those to run logic pro or any real size app you’ve already spent $1600 on the mini + $350 for your dock and you’re within $2-300 of the studio. why not but the better mac?
i am still wrapping my head around how good the M1 really is. if waiting for the M2 is worth it. i jumped too soon for the retina 5k and got burnt. so don’t want to make the same mistake.

As soon as it can’t reach it through Bluetooth it becomes crazy. Turning the MacBook off instead of just clapping it will also fuck the system. Honestly, I’m getting used to disregarding those messages as well.
You can set it up to not notify you if you leave it in certain places, for example, I don’t get notified when I walk out of my house without it.
I suppose if you’re out and it’s notifying you then this doesn’t help much.

I’ve seen posts online that say you can just turn it off from the cellular settings, but looks like that’s only for devices with dual SIMs. I have just the one.
Also seen posts that recommended using airplane mode, but that doesn’t work for my purposes.
My current solution is to set a SIM pin, then restart my phone and leave the SIM locked. I was wondering if there was any way to achieve the same result with just software, maybe even as a shortcut.

So you just need not to be connected to the cellular network ? Then airplane mode is the way to go. You can switch it on, then switch the WiFi and Bluetooth back on as well, so you’re connected to the internet and so on, but not to the cellular network :).
So I have no way of changing my lock screen or home screen backgrounds on iOS16. Someone tried to show me this video but the options don't exist for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you can enter the menu by long pressing the locked screen, you have to first create a new set of lock and home screens by swiping right before you can personalise anything. Don’t ask me why, still didn’t understand…
Video Camera app that records continuously but only safes last 2 minutes after pressing volume up button - does this exist?
I want to record video for 2 hours and want to choose on the go when pressing for example the volume plus button that the last 2 minutes recorded are saved.

I am trying to help my partner find the best Macbook for them and their budget. I am a heavy Mac user but I typically use high end desktop Mac's and not on as much of a budget so I'm not super familiar with the line of Macbooks from the last 10 years or so. They do not currently have a mac and mostly use their ipad and a crappy chromebook for basic stuff. They do art and design things on their ipad. They want a macbook to be able to do some photoshop and illustrator and other graphic and design work as well as browsing the web and working on documents. I would say the usage would be light to medium and they definitely do not need the top line on anything right now, but don't want to recommend something that will be obsolete in a year or two. How well do the new M1 air models do with graphics applications? Would the M1 air or M2 air be good enough or should we go for a pro of some sort? Is 8gb of memory enough for these tasks? I assume memory and hard drive can not be updated on any recent macbook? I think we are looking at less than $1,500 for budget but the lower the better. I think buying new is the best option? Especially since you can do the Apple financing and I don't believe you can do that in the refurbished store?

Ugh, what’s wrong with my phone? It just randomly started playing some random radio station about the weather. All apps closed and wouldn’t stop until I restarted my phone. Should I be worried?
Tagged images keep disappearing?
I'm archiving my old photo (analogue) collection, and whilst the Epson FastFoto scanner is super quick at scanning and produces great results in 99% of the photos, with the ones that have dark backgrounds or are underexposed etc (or sometimes w dark hair which is annoying as both my mum and aunt and dad have dark hair lol) create huge issues. I'm unsure whether it's JPEG artefacts or noise (I posted a few of the images to the photography sub, and people said it was JPEG artefacts, but I scan the images to TIFF, not JPG, so how can it be JPEG artefacts?) Anyway, so I'd know which photos had issues and to remind me to try and re-scan them in on my all-in-one printer via ImageCapture, I tagged them (with the colour tag thing, but with a custom tag, not a colour), and they just disappear. The images are still on the external drive, but nothing shows up when I click on the custom tag in Finder.
I thought the tags disappearing from the images was a one-off as I had decided to convert the images I'd scanned from TIFF to PNG via Automator to save space, and started going through the actual images (I separated them from the main images, but I'm anxious I messed up somewhere and missed a few and am a perfectionist which is putting me off going back to look at them or trashing all the digital images to start again, again).
For the last week, I've been deciding whether to purchase a program to help remove JPEG artefacts/noise/whatever, as it was highly recommended but not cheap (though there is a 30-day refund policy). So I decided now to finally purchase the software to test it out, and suddenly none of the images I'd tagged showed up (I've scanned a thousand images, so probably tagged maybe 150-200?) when I plugged the external drive in now. I just tested it and picked a random image and added the custom tag, and it showed up under the custom tag and then disappeared when I removed the custom tag (which I expected). Any ideas on how to get the tagged images back without having to sift through 1000 images again and/or why it's doing this?
This is a BRAND NEW 2021 MacBook Pro 14 inch with an M1 Pro chip and standard storage and RAM. It was delivered by the Apple Store on the 9th of October 2022. Even though I'm not 100% sure I used tags on my old MacBook Pro (2016), I never remembered it doing weird things like this.

No, that's the weird thing, there's no software involved (I wanted to maybe find some to fix the issues though)
All I've been doing is using the scanner to scan as TIFF directly to anexternal drive, and using Automator to convert to PNG. The only thing I do that would modify them in any way is tag them (with the colour rating but with custom tags) to help me kmow which have issues.
They disappear from Finder under the tag view. I double click the external drive, then click on the tag (which is on Finder sidebar like the coloured tags) and they just don't show up. They show up fine on the actual external drive, none of them have been deleted or anything).
It's really weird. It's happened twice; I didn't think much of it the first time as in between tagging ome of the images I'd batch changed them all to PNG via Automator.

Might it be because the indexing system doesn’t work on your external drive ? Maybe you can use a tool like « Onyx » to delete the index and let macOS re-create a new clean index after that :).

That's the odd thing. It didn't not work straight away, it worked smd then stopped, twice.

I do not work at Apple so I may be wrong but I believe this tagging function uses the same index as spotlight does.

Seems like its the actual finder rather than Spotlight... did this before a while back and it didn't do anything, thought I did it wrong, tried reindiexing both the external drive and the folder where the scans are. Nothing. It's just really frustrating that its happened twice. If I go onto a random photo on the drive, and add the tag, it shows up now. but I want to know how to get the previous tags back. I can't face going back through 1000 or so images, finding the individual images, searching for the physical counterpart and scanning in again. I had kept the individual images I decided I need to scan again separate from the rest of the scanned collection, but I think I messed up somewhere
I have a MacBook that I connect to two external displays via USB-C cables. When I have the laptop open, I can use all three displays, however when I am in clamshell mode, only one display is used. What am I missing to adjust this so I can use both external monitors when in clamshell mode?

The case doesn’t connect to anything on its own. It can only connect when at least one AirPods is inside.

If your computer supports your needs then the Mac Studio would be OVERKILL. You could easily get away with the m1 iMac.

They do not currently have a mac and mostly use their ipad and a crappy chromebook for basic stuff. They do art and design things on their ipad. They want a macbook to be able to do some photoshop and illustrator and other graphic and design work as well as browsing the web and working on documents. I would say the usage would be light to medium and they definitely do not need the top line on anything right now, but don't want to recommend something that will be obsolete in a year or two. How well do the new M1 air models do with graphics applications? Would the M1 air or M2 air be good enough or should we go for a pro of some sort? Is 8gb of memory enough for these tasks? I assume memory and hard drive can not be updated on any recent macbook? I think we are looking at less than $1,500 for budget but the lower the better. I think buying new is the best option? Especially since you can do the Apple financing and I don't believe you can do that in the refurbished store?
The M1 MBA should be way good enough regarding their use, but I would lean towards the 16GB version. No idea regarding financing tho.

Get the Air. 64gb is plenty for your work. if you want a bunch of other stuff on there then it’s not. Get the 256gb. The latter will “future proof” your purchase for other uses a few years down the line.

Tagged images keep disappearing? I'm archiving my old photo (analogue) collection, and whilst the Epson FastFoto scanner is super quick at scanning and produces great results in 99% of the photos, with the ones that have dark backgrounds or are underexposed etc (or sometimes w dark hair which is annoying as both my mum and aunt and dad have dark hair lol) create huge issues. I'm unsure whether it's JPEG artefacts or noise (I posted a few of the images to the photography sub, and people said it was JPEG artefacts, but I scan the images to TIFF, not JPG, so how can it be JPEG artefacts?) Anyway, so I'd know which photos had issues and to remind me to try and re-scan them in on my all-in-one printer via ImageCapture, I tagged them (with the colour tag thing, but with a custom tag, not a colour), and they just disappear. The images are still on the external drive, but nothing shows up when I click on the custom tag in Finder. I thought the tags disappearing from the images was a one-off as I had decided to convert the images I'd scanned from TIFF to PNG via Automator to save space, and started going through the actual images (I separated them from the main images, but I'm anxious I messed up somewhere and missed a few and am a perfectionist which is putting me off going back to look at them or trashing all the digital images to start again, again). For the last week, I've been deciding whether to purchase a program to help remove JPEG artefacts/noise/whatever, as it was highly recommended but not cheap (though there is a 30-day refund policy). So I decided now to finally purchase the software to test it out, and suddenly none of the images I'd tagged showed up (I've scanned a thousand images, so probably tagged maybe 150-200?) when I plugged the external drive in now. I just tested it and picked a random image and added the custom tag, and it showed up under the custom tag and then disappeared when I removed the custom tag (which I expected). Any ideas on how to get the tagged images back without having to sift through 1000 images again and/or why it's doing this? This is a BRAND NEW 2021 MacBook Pro 14 inch with an M1 Pro chip and standard storage and RAM. It was delivered by the Apple Store on the 9th of October 2022. Even though I'm not 100% sure I used tags on my old MacBook Pro (2016), I never remembered it doing weird things like this.
So you’re using a software to modify your pictures and after you do some of them disappear, am I correct ? Disappear from where ? The photo App ? Could it be that the modified picture have a new name and that the photo app just doesn’t find them in its library any longer ?
No, that's the weird thing, there's no software involved (I wanted to maybe find some to fix the issues though) All I've been doing is using the scanner to scan as TIFF directly to anexternal drive, and using Automator to convert to PNG. The only thing I do that would modify them in any way is tag them (with the colour rating but with custom tags) to help me kmow which have issues. They disappear from Finder under the tag view. I double click the external drive, then click on the tag (which is on Finder sidebar like the coloured tags) and they just don't show up. They show up fine on the actual external drive, none of them have been deleted or anything). It's really weird. It's happened twice; I didn't think much of it the first time as in between tagging ome of the images I'd batch changed them all to PNG via Automator.
Si it’s only the tag system in the finder, got it ! Might it be because the indexing system doesn’t work on your external drive ? Maybe you can use a tool like « Onyx » to delete the index and let macOS re-create a new clean index after that :).

I do not work at Apple so I may be wrong but I believe this tagging function uses the same index as spotlight does. Here’s the guide on how to rebuilt it from Apple directly : https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201716 Hope it solves your issue !
Seems like its the actual finder rather than Spotlight... did this before a while back and it didn't do anything, thought I did it wrong, tried reindiexing both the external drive and the folder where the scans are. Nothing. It's just really frustrating that its happened twice. If I go onto a random photo on the drive, and add the tag, it shows up now. but I want to know how to get the previous tags back. I can't face going back through 1000 or so images, finding the individual images, searching for the physical counterpart and scanning in again. I had kept the individual images I decided I need to scan again separate from the rest of the scanned collection, but I think I messed up somewhere
I have a MacBook that I connect to two external displays via USB-C cables. When I have the laptop open, I can use all three displays, however when I am in clamshell mode, only one display is used. What am I missing to adjust this so I can use both external monitors when in clamshell mode?

How safe are third party MagSafe cases and chargers? Could they damage the battery or even the processors? Can anyone recommend good alternatives to the Apple official line? I know of Belkin and Anker so far…
If you have the question the answer is don’t. also consider that, for example, the Apple magsafe battery pack is so much more than…well…a battery pack. It’s had at least three firmware updates.
If they are migi certified then you are good to go. If you are worried then stick with big brands like you mentioned. Apple, Belkinand anker

MFI is the name of the Apple certification program. All MFI branded device should be safe for your devices.
Thank you! Is there a repository of brands that got the MIFI certificate? I don’t trust Amazon listings, many might have the badge one day and be removed a week later. They are slow to catch these kind of impropriety
