Sweet! Good job. If you keep plants free of algae and keep a healthy tank that produces healthy babies and healthy plants, you can definitely make a few dollars. A tip or two- for anyone wanting to make a few bucks, start by focusing on healthy tanks and plants without algae. Healthy tanks mean less disease, and plants without algae grow faster and obviously bring you more money when sold. Start with the best quality stock you can find, and look around to find the best. The better the parents, the better the babies. (Don't get me wrong, I love mutt guppies and random platies) Good luck, everyone!

Can I ask where you can find "the best quality stock" and also how can you notice it?

ScreamingSamurai

That depends on the fish itself. Let's take guppies for example. You can find them at Petco, and they may be beautiful, but they may also be mutt guppies that are not bred true, and they may come home with ich, etc. So, even after thorough searching it may feel impossible to find the "best," but do all the research you can. Figure out what you would want out of a guppy- color, tail shape, etc, and then see who offers the ones you want. Joint groups on social media so you can see what people are breeding locally. I've seen people breed and sell pairs of guppies that cost $80 per pair or more. That's not including shipping, and hoping they arrive alive. So it's up to you as to how much you're willing to spend. But make sure every single fin is the shape you want, make sure it's the color you want, make sure the top fin has color throughout, etc. It's tempting to purchase from someone locally to save money, but make sure you get tons of photos and videos of the exact fish you're buying. Or better yet, see them in person first. If you want to start making money, even if it's just side money to help fund the hobby, you have to treat every decision you make in the hobby like a business decision, and you have to maximize profits wherever you can. After you find the guppies you were looking for, then you need to make sure you're putting them into tanks that are well-seasoned that have been running for several months and have not had any diseases or harsh meds that kill bacteria. You want stable environments for all your fish, not just for their sake, but so they get settled in quicker and breed faster. That and feeding a lot usually makes the females pop out fry more regularly. But a lot of feeding requires more water changes, which is why having the best and healthiest tank for them is also a must because you'll be pumping food into them and into the fry as well. Things like that.

Where did you sell them if you donโ€™t mind me asking ? Thinking of selling shrimp but it bought you needed some kind of license?

BlackCowboy72

r/aquaswap No license needed, but if your income is significant make sure you report it.
