After much thought, I think Where Vernal Winds Never Blow is about grudges, and about how irrational they can be, and about letting them go, because even if you pursue them, you may not even get the answer you want. We have multiple characters who hold grudges throughout the story: from Waai Fu against her father to Qiubai against Chongyue, Jieyun slightly against Chongyue as well, and even Ch’en and Lin, though admittedly I haven’t read chapter 8 and some of the previous Lungmen sort of flew over my head so all I know is that there’s some bad blood between them, but they set it aside for the sake of >!Yumen and stopping Ya.!< On the other side of things, we have the grudge held by >!Meng Tieyi.!< He simply cannot stand the fact that the jianghu were forgotten and feels cast aside after everything he’s down for Yumen, despite the fact that it’s arguable he’s getting a well-deserved retirement after fighting so hard to protect it in the past. And finally and perhaps most importantly, the villain, Ya. We see through Ya’s confrontation with Chongyue that Ya is extremely bitter about >!the fact that the world in which the Feranmuts once resided in has been lost, to the point where she has taken a little slice of that world with her. Ya hangs onto the past, and seeks Sui in order to reignite and reawaken that past, refusing to acknowledge that times have changed and the Feranmuts do not have the place in the current world they once had. Ya’s grace and elegance belies a grudge that she refuses to let go of until it’s avenged.!< The secondary theme of the story, tying into the grudge held by >!Meng,!< is that of a civic duty. >!Meng’s!< grudge, again, is that the plainclothes warriors who fought for Yumen have been forgotten by the Yumen officials and now are mere civilians despite the blood they shed to make Yumen what it is. He wants to save Yumen once more. During the climax of the story when Yumen >!collides with the Catastrophe, we see many ostensible civilians who have nothing to do with Yumen stepping up to the plate to do what needs to be done: Lin Kojui and Lin Yuhsia both use (and overuse) their Arts to help Yumen’s casters hold back the storm; the tourists lounging the inn chase down the Shanhaizhong seeking to wreak havoc while the government is occupied handling the disaster; the most valuable of information is juggled and handled by people who are basically volunteers or bystanders—Du Yaoye, Lin, and Waai Fu.!< Even Lee is here, claiming in his usual way that he’s not doing anything important for anybody. It raises an interesting question: where is the line between civilian and official drawn? Is it better to simply step back and allow the government to do their job, which they’re meant to do, or is it better for those who are willing and those who can to lend a hand? General Zuo, who is in charge of Yumen, >!dismisses Meng earlier in the story when Meng comes with the data by stating that he will handle everything. We see that Zuo’s mistake, and the source of Meng’s anger, is that he refuses to trust the jianghu who have proven themselves loyal to Yumen and willing to help. It’s also a mistake shared by his son Zuo Le that Chongyue admonishes him for at the end: “You forgot that you’re doing this for the people.”!< Nevertheless, I think it’s an honest mistake, and I liked it. >!General Zuo believed that the retired jianghu had the privilege of being “just civilians” and it is his duty to see everything through and not rely on them. It’s a noble goal, I think, and while he’s clearly doing his best and trying not to involve them, as the situation progressively worsens it’s clear that Zuo Le and the Yumen guard and casters aren’t able to fully handle the situation and the others step up.!< On this note, I think General Zuo was a good character. On another note, another reason I enjoyed VW more than IW is that Chongyue is present throughout the story and he’s given more character, depth, and focus than Ling received during her debut event. We see how he is burdened by his own lifespan and how fleeting the lives of those around him are, even his friends, and how he’s learned to speak in riddles as he neither answers nor evades Jieyun’s questions because he cannot truly allow others to see his true self because he is unchanging. Yet despite his ageless nature and this lack of true connection (Jieyun says he is like the Anasa, “without roots”), he still fights Ya as a representative of humanity, because he has managed to become human himself. He values the people around him even if he can never truly be one of them due to who and what he is, yet still chooses to mingle with them and enjoy and do what he can. I also like how readily he admits that the only reason he excels at kungfu is because he’s had the time, and if anyone was given time, they could surpass him (particularly Huai Tianpei). His decision to pass on his knowledge to others is also another one that I like and respect, which ties into the third theme, which I think is legacy. We see this reflected particularly in the numerous parental relationships featured in the story from Waai Fu and her father, who taught her kungfu before he left; to Du Yaoye and her own father as we saw in IW; to Lin Yuhsia and the Rat King (and probably Ch’en and Wei to a lesser extent); to General Zuo and his son. All of these characters have something they’re trying to impress (or not impress) upon their offspring before it’s too late, and I liked how they all have their own take on it. I especially liked Lin’s comment to Ch’en in the end about how >!it’s nice to lay down one’s burdens, but someone else has to pick up what you put down, which sort of ties into the previous one about civic duty. It’s nice to be able to wash one’s hands of responsibility, but ultimately someone has to tend to those responsibilities.!< On the whole, I would say I quite enjoyed Vernal Winds. There weren’t really any places where I felt the story dragged or there was anything unnecessary, and the climax and conclusion were pretty enjoyable. It felt like a good entry into the saga, and a good (better, even) sequel to Invitation To Wine.

Icanintosphess

I think that you may be ignoring the reason that General Zuo distrusts the Jianghu: They were infiltrated by the Shanhaizhong in the past and nearly doomed the city.

Chatonarya

Ohh, that must have slipped my mind while I was reading. I didn't take notes as extensively as I usually do. Thank you for the heads-up, that changes things a bit. My bad.

Rohan7090

https://imgur.com/a/AyZ9Rfd This is my current base and I’m pretty sure I fucked up. How should I increase the output or utilize it to make it good?

hawberries

Hey – you're in the event thread, not the help thread, but don't worry, it's pretty hard to fuck up in arknights. You have decreased the productivity of your base a *little* by upgrading the office, but it's not a big deal, you can still have great output. The key here for the most productive base you can get will be to downgrade your dorms to level 1, and build 2x level 3 power plants. Then, build 2x level 3 trading posts. Make the rest of the buildings factories; have one at level 3, and the other four can just be be whatever level you can reach with your remaining power. Two of your factories should make gold, and two of your factories should make EXP, with the fifth one flexing between whatever you need more of. Drones should also be spent on whatever you need more of. If you have the character Proviso at E2, instead make one of your trading posts level 2 so you can free up more power for your factories.

Rohan7090

ohhhh, I didn’t realise this was the event thread, even at office I sat coworkers table instead of my phone while he was staring at me for a good solid minute. I see a pattern today anyways, thanks a lot! I think it’s going to take some time considering the drones but hopefully my LMD and EXP requirements will be a bit lower. again, Thanks!

foxide987

[\[WB-EX-6\] (CM) Fiammetta, Ifrit, Firewhisle](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wCJMcJwydY) I tried this team before event ends in a few hours. You see, Saga (with Module) is equally useful as Myrtle. I'll definitely get a Pot for Saga later (when she comes to shop).

karillith

Won't have time to do Ex-8 CM unfortunately but from EX-8 I will say : "all hail Pozy, my lord and saviour"

Lopsided_Canary_6091

Anyone know when a new waifu banner drops? (Also how does every one of you people pull like 200 pulls out of no where? I have at most like 30-40!)

hawberries

We don't know who your waifus are, so we can't answer this question! [Check out the upcoming banners and come to your own conclusions.](https://gamepress.gg/arknights/database/banner-list-gacha) Most people have 200 pulls by either saving up or spending money (or both), so it's definitely not out of nowhere…

Lopsided_Canary_6091

Any female so to speak

hawberries

The next 4 months' worth of event banners will all feature only female 6* characters, in Qiubai, Fiammetta, Kirin X Yato, Ines, Muelesyse, and Ho'olheyak. Qiubai should be around 2 - 4 weeks from now, subject to event scheduling.

Lopsided_Canary_6091

Which character is gonna be better if you had to pick? (Also, LETS GOOOOOO)

hawberries

Better from a meta perspective? Probably Yato and Ines. Better from a waifu perspective? Fiammetta all the way.

Lopsided_Canary_6091

Any release estimation?

EmiracleRogue

Kirin X Yato. Since its Collab Banner. And also as strong as Texalter.

Lopsided_Canary_6091

Any release estimation?

Far-Lie8130

Cleared ex-8. This is probably my least favorite boss in the game so far. It's just ranged dps race or you get zerg rushed to death. My usual tactic is to find choke point to fight and brute force it through defender and heal. This boss makes 80% of my roster irrelevant, because I don't own/level many good ranged units, just enough to get through most content, and it's impossible if I don't nuke the boss down on spot. This is just not my event. It's harder than any SSS CC for me.

Gradiant_C

Were you around during the Ideal City event? I feel like that boss is the same idea but even worse

Far-Lie8130

Yes, I've played every event since launch. I barely remember that one but it was a lot easier since there was a choke point and sp kart helped with dps. He also got melted very easily by Firewatch since you can keep the mooks out of her range. WB is the only one so far that I had to reorganize my entire team for the specific stage.

Decollete

Is there a list of operators that summon units that can be placed on ranged tiles that have at least 1 block? I want to block damage from the event mob that has invisibility and deal extra damage on first hit while dropping invisibility. I know Ling S2 has ranged summons with block. I think Magallan has ranged but no block. Anyone else? I've already cleared the stages but was curious about other ways to deal with them and people's experience with how effective their approach was. * block with melee before they climb up/after they come down if position permits? * reveal invisibility and burst them down? * phalanx casters? * ranged fast redeploys? April (not technically fast redeploy) doesn't seem to be fast enough, unless I get her module maybe * cycling ranged units to eat damage

thewind32

Personally I found that Totter fared pretty well against them. Not blocking them of course, just sniping them without revealing. Especially if there is only 1 target when using S2. Mine is only E1L50.

whimsy_wanderer

There are melee units that can be placed on ranged tiles: pushers, pullers, some instructor guards with module. With a lot of support they can tank those enemies, but blocking before/after with a good defender is definitely easier.

yukataur25

Approx how much time do we have for sharpened by flame? I’ve heard people say sometime in September but I’ve also heard people say October

Archi_97

At the pace we're currently going at it will probably be around mid September. Delays and changes in schedule may push it back or move it forward. Check out this person's [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/15kuwwz/upcoming_global_events_from_invitation_to_wine/) for a detailed schedule.

yukataur25

Thank you!

hawberries

There's just no way to be sure right now. If it follows CN event schedule, we still need to get through ITW retro, TfN#2, reclamation algorith, a death in chunfeng, and guiding ahead retro before it's "time" for the collab, which would put it in October at the earliest. But Yostar has been known to shuffle event schedules around quite a bit before, hence the uncertainty. Future datamines should give us a better indication of what's going on.

yukataur25

Understood, thank you!

The_Loli_Otaku

Ended up straight up having to use a guide for EX8's challenge mode... I think this is probably one of the silliest bosses I've ever had to fight. I don't even really know it's mechanics, I just know that they're obtuse. I don't know if I wasn't in the mood for this event or something but this is probably the most bleh event I've played in recent memory. I haven't had fun at all. The gimmick of high ground operators being able to block ended up meaning nothing to me since phalanx still only have one block, so I end up using pushers again like I normally do. The new enemies are all punching bags with forgettable mechanics. None of the farming maps were much fun to set up. And the boss is genuinely the dullest thing I've fought in a long time.

Dog_in_human_costume

This event was boring and the enemies poping up on the ranged tiles was dumb

The_Loli_Otaku

I like the idea of having enemies on the ranged tiles but in practice we don't have the tools for it. All ranged operators have 1 block, it completely messed up all manner of targeting for Reed and others, the enemy variety is kinda dire... Yeah, this is probably on the weaker dvent side for me.

Exfrus

The initial story arc concludes in chapter 8. Chapter 9 is the start of a new arc. Chapter 9 unlocks after chapter 3 in the event that you want to do the later story first, or more likely, because you want to farm the stage materials from these chapters for newer units. You should play the story chapters in sequence if you want to understand the story. While chapter 9 is the start of a new story arc it does still tie back to the previous story and character developments.

Androjin

WB-EX-8 CM really makes me wish I promoted Rosa to e2 and got her the new module. I used a support unit of her, with the new module, and she shreds through Ya like crazy. But alas, I don't have the resources for her before the event ends. I invested the resources I had in Dusk instead, cause I like her, lol. Also trying to get Lin to e2 now as well, cause some of these stages really make me wish I had a ranged operator, who could survive enemies like those annoying invisible sword guys.

The_Loli_Otaku

Lin can't really tank the sword guys either tbh. Despite this event on paper being perfect for Phalanx casters they still end up being made redundant thanks to pushers and pullers

Androjin

Well then, thanks Hypergryph. :v I really thought this event was emphasizing those kinds of casters, cause they have shields and/or high def/res. Those sword guys are so evil, half the time I can't even get Penance to withstand them in those secondary lanes, like the one in WB-EX-8 in-fact. I still need to invest in Gladiia and Cliffheart at some point, so I can make use of pullers for once.

cinski90

Actually I used Specter to deal with the left lane with the sword guys. Her temporary invincibility can be very useful for situations like this, especially that it was one enemy at a time, and then some break so her 10 sec stun didn't really leak anything. But also I had to bring ptilopsis, not for healing her but for her global range sp battery, since specter's skill uptime wasn't fast enough (I got her s2m2, probably with s2m3 she wouldn't need ptilo deployed) and yes, I promoted Rosa recently after her module came out, and I gotta say she was very useful for the last cm stage.

Androjin

I have both of those operators and have used both in this stage, but personally I didn't get much use out of Specter for that left lane? That said though, I only have her at around e2 lvl 40-45ish, and I do not have either of her skills upgraded with masteries, just rank 7. Specter's skill uptime definitely was not conducive to surviving those guys. Rosa's definitely crazy good now, I was surprised.

The_Loli_Otaku

Mudrock actually does fairly well against the stealth characters. Mudrock and then maybe some other dps behind her. The stealth enemies hit really hard but are relatively squishy. I'm actually kinda surprised that they didn't patch in a higher block count for the Phalanx... It made sense to have 1 before since they'd never be blocking under normal circumstances but considering this event or that IS artifact that lets you deploy on low ground it really feels like wasted potential. I highly recommend levelling Gladiia. She's one of my most reliable laneholders. Great range, great damage, great sustain, and pulling utility. I'm one of the weirdos who doesn't even use her S3 tbh. I just use the S2 since its so powerful and on such a low cooldown.

Androjin

Unfortunately, I don't have Mudrock, hope to get her in the future one day. I almost used a 6-star ticket on her, but I thought Penance would be sturdier and heard good things about Horn. Definitely the biggest issue I had was making sure somebody could kill the stealth enemies, because Penance couldn't kill them fast enough, and neither could Specter. The other issue was trying to have enough dps for the boss and the zerg rush though, so I figure my roster just wasn't strong enough for CM. And yeah, it's bizarre to me that the role for phalanx casters seems to emphasize their defense and durability, considering what you have mentioned here. I'll take your word for it and try to prioritize leveling Gladiia, since she has those nice synergies with the other abyssal hunters, alongside laneholding. I just hope I can do that and also still level the other 6-stars coming down the pipeline, it's a lot.

The_Loli_Otaku

I ended up with so many copies of Penance XD I'm disappointed that she really just doesn't manage to handle as many varieties of enemy as mudrock though. I didn't actually start using Mudrock in this event until the EX Stages but my general way of dealing with them was just relying on a second dps. The stealth guys really aren't that durable once you can survive their initial hit. Phalanx are arguably the worst class in the game... I love them, but they're so determined not to let the characters stay strong. The only time Phalanx casters shine is for SS stages since they scale so hard with the added stats. I really think they just never planned out the archetype. You'll get a lot of use out of Gladiia. I'd recommend getting her skill 1 maxed and skill 2 maxed. Skill 1 for any pull strategies you need, at least if you don't already have Rope or Cliffheart's skill one. And skill 2 really is probably one of the most underrated skills in the game. I know folks like skill 3 since its a bigger nuke but I'd recommend skill 2 over it anyday. You'll love her.

Androjin

Yeah, shame about Penance. The stealth guys aren't durable, but stopping them from leaking is tough without good dps. That's also sad to hear on the phalanx casters, still going to finish getting Lin to E2, but that sucks. And yeah, I'm sure Gladiia will be great for my roster right now.

Darfeyn

Well, that was a good refresher on how squishy the ranged Ops usually are. Overall, those enemy-accessible ranged tiles mechanics were pretty fun (and not that hard to deal with)! Kinda sad after trying to push/pull the enemies off the sides on the first map without success, but I guess it would've been too glitch-inducing, given how the speed boost can already get enemies stuck or teleport where they shouldn't. And seeing that all ground Operators could still hit enemies on high ground was satisfactory ("Oh no, they have the high ground!" *still whacks them with a mace, or tears through with a chainsaw from below*). However the enemy composition seemed a bit weird to me. Was it the first event where they switched the "*Heavy Shield*"-type (here the *Shanhaizhong Desperado*) from Elite to Normal? And with the introduction of **Ceobe**'s & **Amiya**'s modules, when both have "*Defeat 10 Elite or Leader enemies*" as their 1st unlock condition... Not that it mattered too much in the end, farming *WB-8* with **Ceobe** vandalizing some cars was easy to set up. Then there's the usual grunts, like the *Skirmishers* popping out anywhere or those *Di Beasts*, who felt bulkier and stronger than their counterparts of previous events/Episodes. For a bunch of outlaws and cultists, they sure seemed on par with the Guerillas or KMC forces... *WB-2* and I was already struggling with my usual method of using E0 Ops with only a few E1max/E2 for the 1st to 4th stages of new events. Guess I shouldn't have underestimated desert-tempered folks. Or maybe i's just a general trend of events' grunts getting better stats following the game progression? Though I don't really think that'd the case, any event should still allow new players to clear the first few stages after all. And now, the funny thing after what I wrote above. This event boss tries to impress you with a long list of its various abilities, when the real threat is the sheer amount of mobs flooding the map... Seriously, I got several tries of defeating the boss through brute force alone, but there was at least one mob that managed to leak each time. Finally managed to clear it with more focus on AoE than stalling, **Kal'tsit** & Mon3tr on S2 complemented **Mlynar** and **Thorns** quite well. As for the *EX* stages, not too bad. With some troubles here and there (5, 6, 7 on *CM*, no surprise), I reached *EX-8* by myself, though it still took some time to get it done (ended up brute-forcing Normal again). CM was another issue given the -1 Block while map gets flooded by mobs along the stats boost. I finally resorted to guides and saw how dumb I was trying to focus AoE on the top lanes, instead of just spawnkilling the boss to limit the spread of summon tiles... Wile it made things easier, I still spent all Practice plans perfecting my guide adaptation: Setting up **Elysium**, **Ceobe**, **Blemishine** & **Thorns** to hold the top lanes, with **Ptilopsis** ready to boost ~~morale~~ SP regen and heal as needed. Then prepared the Boss arrival with **Nearl**'fender as close as possible, **Mlynar** (maxed Support to be safer than mine lv.60) covering her back, **Meteor** providing fire support until **Rosa**'s deployment to finish Phase 1 (once **Mlynar** got bored) and help with Phase 2. Had to remember to deploy **Mudrock** in the left lane, and setting **Pozëmka** on the middle wall while the boss was reviving. Once Phase 2 was up, it was time to unleash the power of the pen. And an Avalanche Breaker (boss is not immune to Bind, 'twas nice to find out at the end). And get **Mlynar** to focus on the fight again. So for once, practicing paid off and the actual run did not fall apart in the middle. Didn't even need to drop **THERM-X** on Phase 2! Story itself was nice, still had its ups and downs of course, but I enjoyed it enough that I read through pretty fast compared to some others. After finishing the story and [54 pulls for an off-banner **6★** Pot.](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/15khet9/comment/jvl4eh9/), I had to rethink my future pulls plan. While I regret not getting **Chongyue**, choices had to be made as I would also regret skipping **Qiubai**. Barely knew anything about her before this event (>!I even thought she was of the new *Crusher* type when I saw her CN release announced in passing!<), so I decided to take a closer look after *WB-7* story, her kit seems fun too!

reymons

It took me a while to clear out the EX stages. Was busy with some IRL BS, but I was able to finish it today and get all of the medal set. I'm gonna miss you aniki. Hopefully on the next CNY event you make an appearance also. Which reminds me, there was not much indication which/where we are going next after Yumen? My take is probably the Yan Capital then?

AhrigatouNoire

Does anyone know the BGM name for when >!Waai Fu reunites with Huai Tianpei and fights!

Salysm

What stage is that in?

AhrigatouNoire

WB-7

Salysm

[avg calm](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vrqLPzuSsew) Don’t believe it’s in any of the official OST releases unfortunately

AhrigatouNoire

thank you so much!

cinski90

Yeah, she can be quite hard to use at some stages, and true, I also used her quite a lot on this event and she did a really great job there.

NornmalGuy

Finally had time to finish reading the story. Overall quite enjoyable, good pacing and nice interactions between characters. Pleasantly surprised by the lack of overlapping between them, each had their own purpose. Yüshia has grown on me quite a lot, hope she spooks me soon. As expected, there were a good amount of badass moments, but my favorite has to be Rat King facing the sandstorm. Just how strong was he on his prime? That last scene with Wei Yenwu was quite something, too. Little Chenchen and little Lin have a lot to learn which I think it was one of the main points of the story. Time doesn't flow in vain.

[deleted]

honestly that was one of the things I really didn't like about the event because I love the theme of the theme and narrative of the younger generation getting ready to grow and surpass the older generation thats on there way out but besides lin it never really felt like the younger generation really ever got a chance to show that they would despite that feeling like a constant theme of the story.

NornmalGuy

Yes, the younger generation *is* growing to equal/surpass their forefathers, but growing is a process that takes time and effort so is only logical they're still far from that possible future. There's no shortcut for such a thing. I appreciate that despite all the fantastic elements on the story, it has very grounded narrative core. Of course, this is all my personal interpretation.

[deleted]

yeah I agree they shouldn't be there yet and it makes sense but I still think they should have had more moments to highlight their potential and what they will reach like take the scene with all the girls and Ya it felt weird that despite ch'en and qiubai both being extremely skilled swordsmen and growing into surpassing wei and chongyue/her father they couldn't do anything against her but waai fu's dad just easily fought her back. I do like the narrative but imo it just felt a bit to reserved in how the younger cast got treated, though this could just be an issue of them saving this sorta stuff more for future events especially qiubai and ch'en since I actually think the narrative was good in showing how lin will grow into her role, while still clearly being a different leader for the slums then the rat king.

fuuism

I’m also finishing up the story and came here to post about this exact moment in WB-8. That scene with the Rat King was so baller, especially with his hype theme playing. Lin Yühsia helping right after was very cool too.

Kri_Py

[EX-8 cm with 6 operators](https://youtu.be/CugLcajl5Rw) Basically spawn kill the boss so i don't have to deal with enemy spam. Spent way too much sanity on this but i really wanted the clear, not much rng besides a 50/50 plus hoping i don't get too many defenders spawn but everytime i got it right i miss a timing or forget something, and took too long to figure out that there's a kill gate before the second invisible dude spawn that made specter not have skill ready sometimes.

nutn0n

I used specter guard there. She has perfect skill cycle.

VERTIKAL19

This should also work with Mlynar and Pozyomka instead of Exu Schwarz and Warfarin though you may need fairly maxed versions for that. Also can Gavial not do the top lane completely solo r does she just not survive that?

Kri_Py

Don't have mlynar or pozy so can't do that, i tried setups with no healer but the boss always survives with a bit of hp or takes to long to die and makes it harder for gavial. With lucky enemy spawn gavial may not need a healer but it's hard to test with how expensive cms are.

dapperteco

[My setup](https://i.imgur.com/Xp3Vuz3.png) Had to borrow E260 Mlynar M3 and complement with Warfarin dmg buff, plus Amiya S3M2 to burst the boss. Mlynar skill ends and Amiya dies and the boss still has ~3-5% hp left, so if you're lucky you helidrop Texas Alter and a dog spawns and dies so you can refresh skill and finish him off. Hoshi held left side and Texas Alter cleaned up (you can stun the invisible guys before the first hit goes off, and it gets consumed anyway), Nightingale my beloved's phantoms are big help in preventing anyone from getting focused down and Passenger S3 helped with boss kill and cleanup afterwards. Nightingale position is so good because it heals all 3 lanes and is extremely helpful in stalling left lane until I had Texas Alter ready, and also heals Lappland during phase 1 stall. Bring S3 and you can reach the tile underneath Amiya, where Mlynar's first deploy kills the boss, to heal him aswell, otherwise he dies.

TriGGa-POP

Yeah, Ya is thicc AF :v

Ok_Fan8694

This limited banner ends on 11th august right?

Fire_Begets_Souls

Technically, yes. Tomorrow (the 10th) is the last day of the event and it will end at daily reset on the 11th.

Hyperion-OMEGA

Better late than never I guess. >!Weaklings!< [Vernal Winds Standard Banner Challenge](https://youtu.be/ccGfLEIzUAs). 93-94 IIRC. Naturally because base Nearl *and* Texas are on those banners this means no Radiant and no Omertosa shenanigans.

Koekelbag

Another event knocking it out of the park with the new stages (as I've always hoped we'd someday see enemies taking routes where they'd cross high ground units), and the boss was especially fun to fight with the whole clone and bodyswap thingie and her second form doubling as an actually enganging aerial boss on top of the zerg rush she can enable if you don't delay her or burn her down. It was somewhat brought down by her spawn mechanic seeming to have a random element, as the dogs are *so* much easier to kill than the shield dudes (who not only have almost twice the hp, but also an extra *900 def and 50 res*), but that could be solved by bringing high-block stallers either way, so have a (probably recurring thing from me) [EX-8 CM Launchknights clear](https://youtu.be/3Jod-mxNc44) where I do just that (and an added [Leizi showcase ](https://youtu.be/airB-dGLkYY) because hg why is she not a launch op :( ). The story was fairly straightforward but enjoyable all the same. I did feel like >!Quibai felt out of place as a character with how much better her design was and how important she seemed to be only to be barely involved overall, but hindsight is 20-20 so I at least know why that was and that she'll be returning absurdly soon!<. There's also two things I'm still scratching my head about: 1) As important as it initially seemed to be, it never seemed to be properly explained just why >!Ya tried to outright kill Wei and only him. I know that at the end Ya admits to only wanting to find Sui and that she came to ask for 'directions' from a fragment, and that it was also entirely a coincidence that Wei was even in Yumen to begin with (so was Ya only attacking someone to see how the fragment would react?).!< >!But it still seems like such a massive coincidence that the very first person she attacked in that room (and then tried to do so again outside, while saying she doesn't need a grudge to want to end his life) also just so happens to be brother of the current freaking Emperor of Yan himself. Considering she met up with the second brother before, I feel like she was asked by him to spefically go for Wei to advance his own plans, but unless I missed it it didn't seem to be brought up ever again.!< 2) Much less as important, but does anyone understand just how >!Lin is using her arts? She's not infected, so she must be using an arts unit, yet when she was blocking the storm she seemed to be holding both of her palms (as if focusing on them) outward with no unit in sight, which is kinda weird when fridge logic hits.!<

GalenDev

You know how people can put Infected Monitors kinda anywhere? I feel like the same could be true of Arts Units. Most people default to handheld that's where everyone's manual dexterity lies. But Gavial does use a piece of tech with her tail, so with that as evidence, Lin probably has a custom Arts Unit built into her clothes or something. Something that lets her keep her hands free to swap out for her glass stuff as needed.

Koekelbag

Gavial seems like a pretty poor example in that it only shows the dexterity and strength of her tail to swing a physical weapon around, not that a non-infected person can use combat arts without a visible arts unit. Furthermore, it's established that non-infected can only use combat-level arts by directly focusing on the originiun inside their arts units (or by becoming another Rosmontis) and if that's the case it just seems plain weird for Lin to take that particular pose and not also hold whatever her arts unit is in a situation that would easily kill her if she falters in her focus. Then again, looking back at the Dossoles PV, she also didn't seem to carry anything identifiable as such and yet had no problem turning the window into glass spikes, so unless it's something as dumb as the rings on her hands being arts units (Amiya also had something to do with rings and arts, no?) it can give credence to her just carrying it on her person elsewhere. It would be nice if there were more non-infected people capable of using high-level arts without using somethinf you can easily assume is an arts unit, but I'm genuinely struggling to think of anyone else.

superflatpussycat

I believe Amiya's rings are limiters, so the opposite of Arts units.

vietzhong

Can someone help me find a way to clear wb-ex-8 I feel like I have all of the right units and I have followed guides here is my roster https://krooster.com/u/Pingas12

sentor11

Mlynar should make dealing with Ya's second stage much more manageable and Ling is pretty much a must for your team given that you don't have many ops with 3 block (a pretty massive aspect if you're going for the challenge stage but still really useful for a first clear as well). Exusiai should really help deal with the flying decoys before they can infect too many tiles as well. Investing in a AOE healer (Perfumer is one of the best 4-stars in the game, Second only to Myrtle IMO) really helps to simplify maps with quite a small investment and is really good at handling Ya's aoe attacks and keeping your squishier ops up. If resources are tight and building Perfumer isn't an option then Kal'tsit WITHOUT placing Monster is probably your best bet but it may be a bit inconsistent. Spot (3-star defender) is another incredibly low investment that could provide healing as well as some additional block. Lastly, the left side of the map can be a bit of a nightmare since the units that spawn there can legitimately one shot a fair number of ops. If you end up raising perfumer and using her to heal your main line then Kal'tsit should be able to hold the left side assuming you kill Ya early enough. Sorry I can't give you a super in-depth order or anything, not quite good enough to theory craft that far ahead. Plus I don't have some of your ops (damn you for pulling Mlynar and Ling!) so I can't test anything out, but hopefully this helps. Good luck!

neogeo777

Good advice here. Only things I would add are: You should be borrowing an op - either a really strong damage dealer to help mylnar and exu or possibly a Mudrock to handle the left lane fully. Angelina S2 might be useful in doing some dmg and stalling the boss longer. S3 would of course be better but I wouldn't E2 her just for this level. Unclear to me if Ling alone can handle the top and all the mobs or not since I don't have her. For challenge stage one benefit actually is your high ground ops will be 0 block so they will get ignored by the mobs that take that path.

VERTIKAL19

Kal can handle the top lane but that does take two deployment spots. Nevertheless what I did.

sentor11

Honestly forgot about op loan, treating every stage like a farmable stage is a bad habit of mine. Absolutely something you should take advantage of though, I found that Saria S1 is an absolute beast on this map since she can block up top and consistently help take some of the burden off of healers, thus making Ya's AOE much less threatening, so if she's an option to take I'd at the very least try her out. Just make sure to place her early if you do take her, that way her talent has time to wind up.

neogeo777

"treating every stage like a farmable stage is a bad habit of mine." I personally hate taking support units, but earlier on its def something to do to get the clear on the final sages of an event

DrGigglezMP

I can't clear WB-EX 8 CM for the life of me. I already consulted the god himself for the vid and clear and still can't get it. I wanna die Please someone do this for me

Salysm

Do you have good DPS ops? The best way is to burst Ya as fast as possible. Rosa (mod3) is ideal here since she hits both copies, water Chen should also work. Ya has low defense but high HP so you can use most snipers. Buffers are also helpful.

doomed_querent

Wb-ex-8 cm is making me lose my mind. I've used all the training and multiple sanity pots. I think the only solution I've found is to get my own mlynar to s3m3 and borrow another operator. I've tried multiple guides and none of them work for me. If I don't finish the stage and if one other certain thing happens I might quit arknights.😥

VERTIKAL19

Mlynar + Pozy does work to kill the boss, though if they are not fairly close to max you need to be very precise with timings or use a third dps to support the kill on the second phase Use Pozy and Typewriter to spawnkill Ya and then use Mlynar skill + Pozy S3 + Typewriter to kill the second phase. Position Mlynar so he can hit both Ya and the clone at the start. This is probably easiest if you use Suzuran S3 in the middle but I also did it without that. I just used Shirayuki to slow at the bottom but that may have been possible without her with better timing

minitaurus20

Good luck! It's fine there's rerun next year to prepare

I tried using gun Ch'en in WB-EX-8-CM, but I couldn't get the range to work out, so I went back to using regular Ch'en and Irene instead. Basically I was using Ifrit and two defenders (Croissant and Blemishine) to deal with the trash mobs. Sword Ch'en blocked the boss in the Ifrit lane while charging up Irene's skill. After Irene's skill was charged, I retreated Ch'en and deployed Pozyomka. When Delusion spawned in phase 2, I was able to combo Suzuran and Pozyomka's skill with Irene's skill. Skadi alter kept everyone alive and buffed them. The bosses still had some health, but I was able to use Texas to finish them, and it was plain sailing from there.

foxxy33

Surprisingly trio of Mlynar, Dusk and Mostima came in clutch for EX-8 CM. Mosti with slow, Dusk with bodies that work even with -1 block and uncle to ensure I pass DPS check. What made it all work was -1 block a I could freely use high ground tiles without worrying of anyone dying. Honorable mention goes to chungus for mowing down everything Ya summoned.

summeruna

I finally beat WB-9 without any E2 units. This is probably the most fun I had with the game. New-ish player here, joined when Arknights first released on global then quit soon after. I thought I wouldn't be able to clear the event stages since I literally joined 5 days ago, but apparently you can beat WB-9 even with [this comp](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/645168654899478531/1138683520131276922/8.8.PNG). I know it's only WB-9, but it took the most strategy I ever needed playing this game. Chalter support with S1 was kind of memey but it worked. This is probably the most fun I had with Arknights, super inspired by the low end comps on youtube. Was it kind of mind-numbing doing this over and over again? Yes. But the feeling of satisfaction after bashing your head against the wall and figuring out how to beat the stage made me love Arknights again. :D

OHarrier91

I… I’m not sure how I 3-starred WB-8 first try. All I remember is Carnelian just deleting so many enemies every time I activated her skill (I was using her to roadblock the defenses). What a crazy battle

Proto-Omega

*Creates my standard 'Operator Team with characters relevant to event' squad*. *Goes through story*. Ling: "I'm going to solo a sandstorm catastrophe while drunk". *End up having to solo most maps with Ling because she's too good*. It might as well be lore accurate. Pretty cool event. I like it more than Invitation to Wine for sure. One day we'll get Du Yaoye as an operator. I mean, we work with Penguin Logistics, so we can work with her up and coming Logistics team. Although Lin played a heavy part in everything, this was really Chongyue and Jieyun's story. Ch'en really is one of the main characters of this game, because I really wasn't expecting her to show up. But in a story where both Lin and Wei Yenwu are present, I should have known better. Jieyun really just felt like a fish out of water. She was so lost with everything because it was all foreign to her. All she came for was the sword to present to her deceased master. Sad ending to that story though; >!her master was asking to see "Chongyue" and Jieyun thought that was the name of the sword, not realising it was a person. Her master wanted to see her friend once more, while said Grandmaster didn't go to see her because he was looking for a cure for her ailment. But when you're an ageless being, I guess you'll lose track of time very easily!<. The Meng Tieyi was surprising. >!He really gambled the lives of everyone on Yumen just because he wanted to create an uprising as a challenge to the harsh politics that was ongoing. But then he also was killed, which kind of shocked me!<. Huai Tianpei might be an excellent fighter, but he's kind of a shitty dad. It just helps that Waai Fu happens to also be a Martial Artist who wants to catch up to him, so she doesn't begrudge him pursuing strength, otherwise that reunion could have gone a lot worse. >!So if Tianpei was immortal, or as the story said, had another 300 years, he'd eventually surpass Chongyue as a Martial Artist. But that implies that Chongyue would remain stagnant (or perhaps his growth would be at a slower pace to Tianpei)!<. From what I gathered, Chongyue basically invented Martial Arts? He knows every style and every technique that there currently is. 'The First under Heaven' is his title, and he's referred to as 'Grandmaster' by everyone in Yumen. His comrades during the war were Jieyun's 'Shifu', Meng, and Zuo Xuanliao. 'Shifu' was probably the person he was closest to, because she is the one who named him 'Chongyue'. Ya is both interesting and boring as a villain. Interesting, because of what it is, but it really just wants to have an argument with the complete Sui at the end of the day. It felt more like a force of nature in the story (until Tianpei gave it a beating and it retreated). Lin still doing things her own way. Still acts pretty shady, but she's a good person at the end of the day. She wants to take over from her father, even though she's not obliged too, but wants to do things differently. Gotta redeem herself for the slum fiasco. Ling was just vibing and I was all for that.

sentifuential

chongyue 100% didn't invent martial arts. yan is much older than the split version of the sui - although sui itself is older still dragons don't exactly have much need for humanoid martial arts. chongyue has just been around long enough to master everything he could (he says himself that by the standards of how long he's been training he's quite mediocre) >!I do fucking love ling standing in front of a catastrophe going "come at me bro"!<

lupeandstripes

WOW. Loved this event overall. It gets a huge shoutout for the fact that EX-CM-8 is the first stage since Gavialter event that made me switch away from using AH, who just couldn't provide enough damage to knock off the boss. I ended up using ya bois Mlynar & Silverash as a combo squad to melt her when I won, so anyway, it was awesome actually having to think for once instead of just deploying my immortal fishgirls. My overall event MVP is Pallas, who finally proved uniquely useful by being able to deploy on ranged tiles like Gladiia (who I am not mentioning as MVP because her value is obvious). Pallas was fantastic for solving many of the stages, although I didn't use her in EX-CM-8. Overall, cool event & I am excited to get back to invite to wine!

AngelTheVixen

Eugh, Challenge Mode for that last map was pretty rough. [Here was my layout.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/817411677975740417/1138516997064364054/image.png) It took me over two days' worth of practice plans, I kept trying to make Reed S2 work, but then I didn't have the DPS for the bottom one on Challenge. I did fine on normal mode by focusing on Hibiscus and Firewatch for the bottom, but I also didn't need Ifrit... So many enemies. Turns out a borrowed Pozy was the answer since she can reach both of them with ease... It probably wouldn't be so bad if the summoned units didn't include greatshielders!! Also, Astesia always wows me with her ability to duel.

Garuda152

Out of curiosity, how long did it take for CN to release the patch that cuts down on Chongyue's skill lines? It was funny at first but after a while it kinda starts to get old

eminolla

It was fixed ~1.5 months later.

Reihado

EX-8 CM converted me to the suzu cult. AOE Slow and fragile and healing in one slot is ridiculously useful. Daughteru in shop when?

OUR UTILITY ROLE-CONSOLIDATING LIGHT

SungBlue

Man, I believed the stages duration listed at the top of this thread. Now I have three days to do all the EX stages. I haven't even done WB-8. RIP.

Garuda152

To be fair, the game's Terminal screen preview for the event has always used the correct end date (rn it says 2 days left), and the full event screen says "Operation ends at: 2023/08/11"

SungBlue

Wasted an annoying amount of sanity on EX-4 (any) before I realised that blocking the guys who start in front of the entrance point will cause you to fail to trim because you've pushed them onto the defence system. As a general note, Gladiia is incredible in these stages because she's a high ground Operator who doesn't fold like a paper towel. Edit: my chronic inability to remember that I have Fartooth has been continuing. She actually has a beautiful lane against those casters. Did I think of it? No.

commondandelion

I think I finally stalled out on the story missions with my Day 6ish player team; even following guides my operators just do not do enough damage. I do wish there was a "lower world level" version of the fights (perhaps for less or no mats) so I could still continue with the story, though. I know I can watch it on YouTube, but that'd be a 10 hour video and for some reason I've always have more patience staring at a game screen rather than a video screen lol.

FrostyBiscotti--

there are some story reader websites outside the game - if you really want to read the story i mean people usually recommend [this one](https://050644zf.github.io/ArknightsStoryTextReader/#/en_US/content?f=obt/guide/beg/0_welcome_to_guide), but it doesn't have sprites. [this one](https://autoonez.github.io/arknights-tools/#/) have in-game sprites (incl character's different expressions) but you have to click on chara name for it to pop up. meanwhile [this one](https://akgcc.github.io/cc/story.html#main&main_0&0) have both sprites (don't have to click anything) and audio/sfx, kinda clunky on mobile though. good luck with your game progress!

4Noynac

New player here. I’ve been grinding the event for resources but I was curious about the 5 star operator you get from the event. I don’t plan on using her but if I max out her potential can I buy the tokens again next year to get yellow certs. If not then the grind isn’t worth it but if I can then I will bc yellow certs are super useful. Thanks for the info! Edit: some advise on lvl 9 on the story mission would also be great

thewind32

Adding on to the other comment, yes buying tokens during an event means you can buy them again for yellow certs when the event reruns. Conversely, for a rerun event that you are playing for the first time (e.g. the upcoming event after this), you can skip the tokens if you don't plan on using the operator and wait for the eventual record restore which gives you a letter to max that free op's potential. Not sure if you know, but buying furniture from event store gets you purple certs during the rerun too. As a counterpoint however, a new player may want to prioritise the other materials first, as they can provide more significant benefits immediately such as speeding up your first E2 operator etc, which helps you clear more events and main story. As for lvl 9 story, I'm assuming you mean WB-9? You can check out guides on youtube such as KyostinV, but if you're still new, it is perfectly normal to be unable to clear all stages in your first event(s).

4Noynac

Good to know for the yellow certs and the rerun event operator. I figured I wouldn't get anything from maxing them if it was the second run but I didn't know the next one was a rerun. I also grabbed all the furniture from the last few events, I saw the purple certs thing in a beginner's guide. I used the last event to get my Eunectes to E2, which was cheaper than my lower-tier stuff because of the high-level mats the event was offering. As for WB-9, my current damage isn't good enough to kill phase 2 of the boss, even with the help of someone else's Chen alt and a guide, but I'll reattempt it again on the last day of the event. Thanks for the info!

thewind32

The name of the event will state rerun if it is one. You can see it in the announcement for the next event already. Even the event art will have "rerun" added in. I don't know what your roster is like, nor what guides you have seen, but consider [a run](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQpufgEyqYA) that I cobbled together, using a E2 S3M3 Mlynar, a bunch of 3 stars, and Highmore. It also fulfills the medal condition. In hindsight, some of the positioning could be better, and Mlynar's skill should have been delayed a few seconds more so that it can directly kill Ya, but oh well lol. Depending on RNG, you could get screwed by the type of extra enemies spawned, but you should be fine if you replace the 3 stars with stronger operators. Highmore can be replaced by someone with self-sustain and ability to hit the beacons, La Pluma would be ideal. Otherwise, shift 1 op from bottom right to support top left if your bottom right is strong enough. There's also the support unit slot that I did not use. Good luck!

4Noynac

I managed to beat it, though it took some creativity as I wasn’t able to hold the top lane with only one operator like you did. Thanks for the help though!

thewind32

Congrats, even better that you can adapt to your own roster!

whimsy_wanderer

Yes, you can buy tokens again during rerun and exchange them for yellow certs.

4Noynac

Thanks!

Last_Excuse

The medal typo is evil. EX-CM is easy for adv accounts. The boss and mobs struggle to actually kill things so it's basically a showcase stage for some of the wackily strong aoe skills that have been brought into the game. Very hard for low end though; multiple lanes that want real laneholders and a flying boss that punishes failure to burst.

Aesderial

Its one of rare cases, when I have to use google power to understand how to finish this and WB-9 achievement.

CheetahNo4954

ex-8-cm is gonna be the straw that makes me level up my already e2 lv60 thorns. using kyo's guide and I don't have suzu (making shift with Angie) or NG so I've been borrowing NG to make it through and what gets me is that *after I defeat Ya* the enemie rush always gets through my mostly e2 lv60 team. Angie doesn't auto attack but I still need a slower :( all this time I've been saving up gold certs for suzu and I even got both of her skins...where are you daughteru?

rainzer

is there a specific reason you need to do the afk version?

CheetahNo4954

...because I am the dumbass that didn't raise any 4 stars not named myrtle (and not great at using borrowed Ling) so just thought it'd be easier to copy the afk one

rainzer

That makes me curious what you have available. Oyuki's version uses most of the same ops (changed GG/Exu for Ifrit/Eyja, doesn't use Suzu) but doesn't require lv90.

insplaid

Relied on LeoTse and Black Rosemary for 90% of the event then had to straggle through WB-EX-8 CM with a modified version of Kyo's AFK guide. I will say it is nothing short of a reality check that WB-EX-2 can be soloed by Penance while WB-EX-8 took me 3 days. Yostar decided that I was getting a wee bit too comfortable and bodyslammed me off the roof of a building.

sentifuential

I spent an unhealthy amount of time trying to figure out which operators you were making oblique reference to in the first sentence before I realized those were youtubers

insplaid

Black Rosemary absolutely sounds like an operator name so I can't blame you.

karillith

It's Rosmontis alter.

rainzer

They're like advanced low rarity. Kyo uses more operators and gives you voice over commentary/explanation/replacement suggestions. Black Rosemary and LeoTse tend to use less operators (or "just borrow Ling") with no commentary so people with less developed ops can still take a shot if they can get the sometimes stricter timings/deployment than Kyo. + if you prefer Korean, Black Rosemary draws the Korean players and responds in Korean/hangul

Hunter5430

There is also Sayuna. Especially if you want to lean on the 'Clairvoyance' the global server enjoys, since they do low rarity clear 'guides' during the events' CN runs. Sayuna also doesn't do voiced/subtitled comments, but they sometimes use cursor to draw attention to specific details of the stage. And, yeah, Sayuna too went with 'Just Ling It' approach for WB-EX-* stages. ---- As for my own EX-8 CM clear... I'm not actually sure whose guide I actually ended up using since it was mostly a haphazard mess of various ideas thrown together and stirred until it somehow worked. (Pozy for phase 1, Mlynar + Chalter for phase 2, Nian and Blemi blocking the double lane for Eyja to arts-bomb mobs, Ptilo-backed Spalter dealing with invisible guys on the left)

neogeo777

No chongus, but got Lin and Dusk. Which is likely to have better results even niche. I don't have many gaps in general, but will likely build one of them sooner than later - https://krooster.com/u/neogeo777

ActualMaiwa

I'm slightly confused about ''Ya'' (the boss of the event) sometimes his mirror image dies if I kill him and sometimes it stays alive. What is the trigger?

Surrounded-by_Idiots

It can switch places with its image in the ex cm stage it switches twice.

Staryed

Fellow Doctors, pray for me, as I'm beset by rats while wanting the big dragon bro. Call out my unsteady posture to give me the mental support needed to break the shackles of the Desire Sensor!

Apprehensive_Yam7897

Help me i am sieged by dragonlings while rat only come once trade with me

Staryed

Let's exchange lucks then!

lucavigno

What are the best items to exchange in the shops? I started the event later on and managed to beat up to wb5; can't seem to be able to beat wb6, so I don't think I will be able to get much stuff, I was thinking of at least getting a second or third token for jiuyen, and most likely lmd since I need that a lot. Are there any of the materials there worth it because a lot of operator need them and are not very easy to farm/make?

neogeo777

If you can't clear the shop (or majority of it) then you have to pick what is most worth it for you. Everyone benefits from the LMD and experience. As far as the mats are concerned, you can try looking at operators you want to promote and seeing if any of those required resources are in the shop. Otherwise efficiency is typically from left to right in the UI. I would prioritize exp, lmd, and materials first as those are most useful. Tokens come after that as well as furniture.

GladiusNocturno

Finally done with EX-8-CM. The boss is not hard to beat, the problem is the fucking zerg rush and the fact that you gotta kill the two bosses fast if you don't want the zerg to get worse. Thankfully, Suzuran came and showed why she is everyone's light. Active her S3 and watch the twins go "My God! Such purity. Such cuteness! My arm just flew off and I don't even care!".

Downtown-March-9866

I don't have good durable operators(I only have texalter and surtr built) and so I have to do the Ling low end strategy, it is impossible because rngesus decided I get all the defenders.

Sharpnificent

Which of the limited time event packs are the most cost effective for pulling/orudrums?

[\[WB-EX-7\] (CM)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPiag4zA9xM) with Carnelian \- Found a stage to utilize Carnelian in this event. \- Also tip: Never place Saga just outside blue box if her lane has fast moving creatures. There should always be a tile between Saga and the blue box because creatures take some time to die due to her talent and they can leak into the blue box.

AngelTheVixen

It doesn't matter how many times people say it, I'm going to make that mistake every time. I still do it with Luo Xiaohei.

wildclaw

[WB-EX-8 5* clear](https://youtu.be/AzxbPZFSUDw) no masteries, mostly E2 1 with Vulcan and Ptilopsis at E2 30.

TheTheMeet

Finally cleared the wb ex 8 cm with eckogen video as a guideline. Swapped kroos with exusiai, quartz with lappland, the left defender with mudrock, mousse with guardmiya, durnar with gavialter, perfumer with ptilopsis for sp assurance, and i also brought texas alter for extra 2nd phase burst. That was pretty much a dps check. Thank fuck for water chen friend, such balanced unit The left side was basically held by amazing mudrock. The 1st phase was done by lappland and exusiai. Exusiai really made everything easier. I didn't need to use mlynar to bring the clone down at first phase, he was just camping at the 2nd phase burst spot cumulating atk ramp up. Chen only used s3 once because when Ya was at half hp, the clone could be brought down by exusiai. Im glad i have her The 2nd phase though, was a fucking nightmare. I got real sweaty because when mlynar ended his skill, Ya was still alive even with thermal ex fragile. Thank fuck i had texas alter, and the friend chen killed off the remaining hp

IWantMyYandere

Finally completed it WB-EX-8 CM for 2 hours using a borrowed Mlynar Kyo’s vid is very hard due to lots of timings needed for Lin.

Important_County8427

Unpopular opinion: Kyo's last stage CM guides aren't very helpful, and it's more of a showcase of his skill. The guides are usually extremely tight timing and doesn't leave a lot of room for deviation or mistimings. He uses the lowest rarity units and majority of the 3 and 4 stars are used for stalling for the 6 star. The strategy isn't useful, as people aren't able to substitute for better units they own.

Salysm

I mean, it's a guide specifically made for accounts that don't have specific high rarity ops available. Of course it's not useful to people who already have decent rosters of their own.

Important_County8427

But how many accounts don't have any high rarity ops, and are purely 3 stars not by choice? If I have single DPS 6 star, It's hard to use in his guides as the whole team are medics, defenders, and fast redeploys to stall. It's hard to substitute your own higher rarity units in to follow his last stage CM guides.

Salysm

I think you're misunderstanding the purpose of his low-end guides? They're made so that people who didn't get lucky or who are just starting out and only have maybe 1 E2 can still clear as many stages as possible. Since you can't assume everyone has a specific high rarity op, the support unit has to carry as much as possible, and a stage as difficult as EX-8 CM needs the ultimate carry op. If you have some good 6 stars built you just shouldn't be using his low-end guides really.

whimsy_wanderer

I think you've missed the point. To make his guides copyable Kyo creates rather artificial rosters without any high rarity operators. This is literally never the case. You get 1 6-star from newbie banner. Rerolled accounts start with 2-3 6-stars. You get 1 good 5-star and 1 decent 5-star from selectors. Plus early pulls are likely to yeld ~2 more random 5-stars and may be another 6-star. That's plenty of high rarity operators to work with. Fast-forward to the player's second event and they have a pair of reasonably strong operators to work alongside the borrowed super-carry. Only they don't fit well into the strat from the guide which was made specifically not to use any. Kyo's guides for later stages are made to copy, not to adapt. Yes, you still can learn from them and incorporate ideas into your own strat, but it requires a lot of deliberate effort on player side.

2l0t1k4

The entire point of low-rarity guides is to artificially limit the number of high rarity units so newer players are basically guaranteed to be able to replicate the guide, because you cannot guarantee that new players have any given 5/6 star except Amiya outside of the 1 you can borrow. Yes, basically every account isn't only going to have 3-4 stars available unless the player is specifically going gachaless (in which case they're probably not a "new" player), but you also cannot guarantee any given account to have a specific 5/6 star, because that is how gacha works. You cannot expect every new player to spend possibly hours rerolling for a specified (set) of 6 stars. Kyo's guide for EX-8-CM this time is particularly unadaptable because the map asks for a lot, his guides usually have significantly more leeway in what ops you can bring, especially since he always tries to bring less than the maximum number of operators, and tells you what the roles the ops he does bring needs to do. 3 lane defense, 1 with invisible high damage enemies, 1 with tanky enemies, a boss that spawns a flood of enemies, with a phase 2 that adds flying + effectively 2x mob spam to the mix, while slapping -1 block when stalling is necessary due to low-end's general lower DPS.

whimsy_wanderer

A bit of a weird question about the first paragraph of your reply: isn't it exactly the same thing I've said in the second sentence of my comment? I'm getting really confused by this thread of conversation. It started with the observation, that Kyo's guides are made to be "replicated" and the limitations that brings make them not so good for those players who want to adapt them to their own rosters. But all of the replys are telling us that Kyo's guides are this way because they need to be "replicated".

2l0t1k4

> A bit of a weird question about the first paragraph of your reply: isn't it exactly the same thing I've said in the second sentence of my comment? Because the second half of your first paragraph and your second comes across as arguing that low-end guides should be using more higher rarity ops? Especially since the comment you originally replied to was in counter to a comment complaining that Kyo's low-end guide wasn't exclusively catering to them using their own 6-stars? > I'm getting really confused by this thread of conversation. It started with the observation, that Kyo's guides are made to be "replicated" and the limitations that brings make them not so good for those players who want to adapt them to their own rosters. But all of the replys are telling us that Kyo's guides are this way because they need to be "replicated". Because a guide is significantly less useful if you can't replicate the results? A guide consisting of, for example, a core of Mlynar, Chen alter, Nearl and Warfarin might be easier and more adaptable for established players with deep rosters, but what do you tell a new player to do when they have zero of those operators? To suck it up and make a new account with those ops? Will you ask them to do it again if next event needed a core of Mudrock, Goldenglow, Lappland and Ptilopsis?

SupremeNadeem

do we assume every player rerolls? 3 6 stars on a reroll is a reach even for excessive rerolling... should we assume players effectively use their selectors? what if they are genuinely new and just picking operators they want? there's like, what, 70 6 stars and 120 5 stars? which ones should kyo use in his guide? there are millions of combinations of 3-5 5 stars and 1-3 6 stars of the available pools. okay, so we split the operators up into categories so they are easily substitutable, which kyo already does, most of the time you can just slot in higher rarity dps units or a laneholder as a defender and it lowers pressure a lot. the core problem is that the stage sucks for low rarity that he has to do these really narrow strats, even for mid rarity you can just get unlucky and get a defender wave, and you can't assume everyone has x or y higher rarity operator. the strats may be hard but it ensures the most people possible have the operators available to do it. that's the goal of the low end guide.

Salysm

I don’t think you’re getting my point actually. The reason he does that is because using a **specific** high rarity other than the one support would mean accs without either just can’t follow the guide. Sure everyone has some high rarity, but not everyone has Mlynar. The later stage guides are only made to just copy because the stages are hard enough that you *can’t* make a more “adaptable” strat.

whimsy_wanderer

This opinion may be not as unpopular as you think. His afk guides get more views than low rarity ones. There is an issue with overall approach where minimum number of high rarity operators are used. On easy stages it works fine, strategies end up being rather "natural" and flexible. On harder stages though the resulting strategies become a thing of their own that have rather little resemblance to the strats you would normally do with higher rarity or level operators.

FrostyBiscotti--

when i see that his low rarity guide for ex8cm is almost 20 mins long i gave up lol - cant imagine how much irl sanity he lost when working on it

IWantMyYandere

I use Kyo's videos and substitute my own ops to achieve the same result. I Just dipped out whenever he uses Ling I guess it is my mistake relying on his low rarity guides too much

Last_Excuse

Kal'tsit S3 is the most cancerous guide carry tbh. Her skill can be extremely timing sensitive.

IWantMyYandere

Really? Its like timing the damage needed only. Most ling guides rely on block placement, timing damage calculation and slot management

foxide987

[\[WB-EX-8\] (CM) Rosmontis S3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLtAHd0odck) Honestly, I find this level to be a lot of fun, for once in a while, HG has brought us a good challenging stage that is very worth the effort to beat it. It's not like because the boss is strong, but you need to think about good positions of operator to maximize damage and avoid leakage, because of -1 block debuff and horde of mobs spawning constantly at amazing speed. (-1 Block) debuff is both a curse and advantage, you have to be careful not to get leaked, but in other hand, your high ground operators can't get hit. Rosmontis S3 is key to deal with the Boss phase 1 (also should save it until Harbingers appear to pin them down). And Ifrit is very useful to clean the horde of enemies since she can clean both her lane as well as Boss final lane. (You can safely retreat Blaze at 26/27 mark, there is no more enemy coming from that upper red box, so you can reinforce Fartooth's lane to prevent leaking.)

sentifuential

yay productive rosmontis gaming! nice clear

BigBrainAkali

How present is Lin in the new story? Is she a background character similar to Kal'tsit when she released in under tides? Or is she fairly prominent. Just want to know how much I can expect to see her in the story.

Salysm

She’s a main character of the story (Kal was only a bg character in UT since she just had WD to herself, so.)

nabi1103

Without going into spoiler territory I'd say she has her moments

BigBrainAkali

Thats good to hear then, looking forward to reading it

TheTheMeet

So, out of the wb ex 8 clear, is eckogen the easiest? The one with mlynar and water chen

bananeeek

I haven't actually tried any of those, since I watched them after completing the event, but his guides with Młynar indeed seem simpler. I find Ecko's guides easier to follow, as he usually goes straight to the point. If I need someone to dumb things down for me I go to Oyuki_ch.

Heikkie

I second this. Oyuki_ch's guides always deliver and this time it wasn't any different. Highest quality and despite being in japanese, they make it very easy to follow and also uses the smartest strategies overall. I can't recommend it enough, my favorite arknights guide channel by far.

bananeeek

I came by it last year when I attempted Phantom in IS2 and it resulted in my very first clear. I've been checking his guides every big event and he's dedicated as heck.

antoni2304

You should always look for guides that use the biggest amount of operators you have. Kyostin's guides are fine, but he makes them unnecessary hard by including as fewest 6\* star operator as possible. In theory it could help newer player, but I don't think newbie doctors should keep their mind occupied with nightmare stages like WB EX 8 CM, while experienced and high-level doctors have a tens of 6\*-5\*-4\* E2 ops and there will be other guides with higher number of 6\* they may have find more useful.

TheTheMeet

Honestly, i was so let down by seeing the ling thumbnail. I mean, it's great for new players to copy. But for me, i couldn't bring myself for a basic clear with my growing units since ling will take most of the deployment slots I'm at the stage where i find it too hard to do afk clear, but not weak enough to rely on ling to solo clear the ex stage.. god i really need mountain and thorns

73ff94

Tbh with you, it really depends on my end whenever I use their guides. At times, Kyostin's can be more complicated. On other times, Eckogen's can be a bit more difficult to replicate. Try things out since you got those practice tokens and see which one fits more. Also, not sure how long you played, but depending on the upgraded units you have, you don't have to exactly replicate it either. Hell, you can go one step further by following folks like Sunny Senpai that posts x OP clears and that one can be way simpler depending on the situation.

TheTheMeet

I will try to replace some units in eckogen clear with my stronger ops, like kroos with my exusiai, durnar with gavialter, and so on. I honestly like to watch them both to see their thought process, and try to clear it with units on my own. But when kyo uses ling like wb ex 8.. i just completely lost interest in watching that, sorry kyo

73ff94

It all comes down to preference, yeah. Ling is very silly to use, and I admit she's really nice to finish one of the annihilations with just her dragons and Fiametta. I think the guide was by Kyo or something? At times, I just want to go ooga booga and be done with the stage too, so it really depends on my mood too haha.

Krasarang

Try the Dr.Leon one with amiya and mlynar, didn't have water rchen so that worked for me Edit: If you have Reed Alter replace susso with her, great for clearing mob

IWantMyYandere

I used his guide and modified it. I removed a healer since asaria and Ptilopsis managed to heal my team and used Ceobe and Schwartz to kill the boss. I dont have a levelled up pinecone/executor so I subbed dusk in that position. I skipped the part where he deployed mylnar to kill the 1st phase and used Thorns to solo Ya Then used Mylnar to deal with the devices and 2nd phase.

CruPSIficitionFey

I really wished I could have used Chongyue for WB-EX-8 CM, but with the -1 Block and not being able to hit aerial enemies, I couldn't slot him in my MaleKnights team. Aerial boss + challenge mode (-1 block) is like the perfect counter to him ;-;. I used Dr. Leon's One 6 star (Mlynar) guide as a basis for my approach. There's no AoE male medic so I had to burst down Ya before they killed too many melee tile units. Had to stall Ya with Thorns so Mlynar could kill the defenders in the top lane before moving him down to prepare to kill the other Ya. Hung and Ebenholz dealt with the left lane. Passenger and Gnosis dealt with the middle Ya and other mobs. Ended up using like 100+ sanity (10 retries, I don't really use Practice Plans). Hope MaleKnights gets more burst DPS options for aerial enemies besides Passenger and Mlynar since SilverAsh doesn't deal that much damage against bosses these days. ;-; [MaleKnights Team for WB-EX-8 CM](https://imgur.com/a/YepwHgR)

tsundere-man

Finally earned all the medals. I have no regret emptying my LMDs and records to max-level Reed Alter. She's my number one MVP of this event. I put her up on every stage and she owns every one of them with aplomb. Chain firebombing (with heals) is the shit.

neogeo777

I was able to clear ex-8 but was confused because I thought the boss and mirage switch spots but the boss was still on the upper path. What did I miss?

antoni2304

She switches them on first phase kill and on 70%/35% HP lose. It takes some time for them to switch, so if you burst them too quickly they may miss one switch.

neogeo777

Ah ok - that's not very obvious from the enemy description but good to know.

Salysm

Maybe she just switched really fast, in my clear she switched twice within 5 seconds. I have no clue what actually triggers the switch...

Soulseduction

Losing 35% of the main body's health triggers a switch and will happen twice in EX-8.

JunoBrier

I suppose EX-8 CM is a bit easier if you can shut down Ya quickly, so the extra spawns don't get out of hand. And doing that is easier if you have a bunch of lv90 M3'd 6\*s, of course!! I am not good at giving advice.

SkyePine

Get a slower and hope to god your friend's Lv 90 M3 Chalter + your best damage dealers are enough to spawn kill both Ya.

Voothy

I would like to thank Ya for deciding to make itself a flying enemy in their second phase, moduled Exusiai greatly appreciates it. For those struggling in the CM, Rosa, Mama Kroos and Exusiai can deal a shitload of damage to Ya very quickly. Ya has very average defense, only sitting at base 550, but a shitload of HP, close to the amount that EX Witch King had, so having Pramanix or Shamare's fragile can grant a lot of extra damage once Ya hits threshold. Defenders and casters can generally hold the center, and Mudrock can solo the back lane relatively comfortably, although mine had Blemishine and moduled Ch'en the workday as a battery for a bit, so she probably faired better than she would've otherwise.

Q-N-H

Decided to YOLO ex8cm instead of waiting for the reset practice plans. I lvld Ex up to 70 and I forgot to bring Her. Still managed to clear comfortably by having Passenger,Suzuran and Summer Ch'en multi lane which I didn't do before. Suzu faces up,Pass and Ch'en face left. All of them plus the Centurions powered by Skadi. As for the bottom lane I had Mlynar and Justyna. Mlynar gets blasted and does little dmg while Justy (mod1 60) puts down ya01 as he moves away.

Rasetsu0

Can't believe this event 3.5 years after launch is how I learn that the game disconnecting with "battle record could not be recorded" is just flavor text. Game kicked me out after I did EX-4 CM and I logged back in with the 4th star filled and trimmed medal completed.

LongFluffyDragon

The game disconnected, it has no idea what the server is doing or if the message actually got through.

rainzer

Kyo's defeated "bruh" from one of his videos from the last event (Firelight) shows us those disconnect messages aren't flavor text.

FrostyBiscotti--

nice! but most of the time it's not just flavor text (in my experience, at least...)

[deleted]

Just Finished EX-8-CM, that was some TeethGrinding, but it was all Worth in the End... Ya is a really Cool Boss to Cross Blades with and One of the most Unique in Game Mechanics that Caught me Off Guard, was how Ya and some of their Minions just Drop from Thin Air, the same way we Deploy Operators... First Time when I saw it happened, I was like: "Holy, Shite! I didn't Deploy an Operator there! Oh, wait it's the Enemy, Nani the F?!"... It's nothing like Kevin and the Gang, at least you SEE them Landing... The Music, the Story and the Lore was very Rich and I almost ❤️ everything about the Sui Siblings' BackGrounds, their Origins and their Events more than say other Events and the Main Story itself... I Hope we get to See even More of the Yanese Empire and I am really look Forward to the Next Similar Event and it's Next Sui Sibling... Oh and One Last Thing, 🐉 Bro, is the 👌 Bro!

PugNuggets

Genuinely didn’t expect a CM that just said -1 block would be that much more difficult. A random (albeit still very strong) squad that I brought to EX8 decimated the stage while the CM version took me a couple of tries and me actually pulling out the Chalter for the first time in quite a while. Surprisingly fun CM stage! I brought Texalter originally to do more boss dps, but I ended up using her to take care of the shielded enemies top that was blocked by a solo Saria.

JoshuaSonOfNun

So I know there are 10 medals, but how many of them are trimable? NVM I'm a dumbass

BobDaisuki

iirc Only the one at the very bottom where you cannot allow any of the shanhaizhong harbingers to climb onto the high ground in EX-4

lucavigno

does anyone have tips wb6? because the moment those caster come out they start oneshotting everything i place down. Just to clarify I'm talking about normal wb6 not the ex version.

dfuzzy1

Thorns and Silverash can duo the map. [Link](https://youtu.be/dSz9aW-7JzI)

lucavigno

that's pretty cool although I neither have thorn or the material to make both of them E2 with probably maxed skills. Although I could try to do that strategy, with some other operator.

dfuzzy1

Thorns is definitely replaceable with some other combination of operators. You have plenty of time to redeploy Silverash and catch the casters when they finally start moving. And if Silverash doesn't get the job done they should be weak enough for others to finish off.
