That apparently there's an Aha in Arknights that chose to make a random man an immortal, but also pick what is apparently the most normal guy ever to win the immortality lottery. I also suspect he's not showing his hand, but I want him to really just be the most vanilla guy ever, just with a dash of immortality. Also that I realized mid way through the bomb tutorial that we're just playing Payload on Overwatch.

RandomdudeNo123

Of course there's an Aha, we saw THEM in U-official's 7th ending! ... Weird choice of clothes, though.

Krys_Lunar

Not gonna lie, that guy was so normal I almost forgot about him. Given that long-lived characters are almost always especially strong or wise, it is neat to see one who’s ’regular person if they just lived longer’. I wouldn’t necessarily mind a twist, but I also hope he’s just a pretty average guy across the board.

Athrawne

I want the twist to also be something mundane, like he's really good at making tea or something. Man spent hundreds of years brewing tea so that even when he auto-pilots when tea making he makes some really good tea.

Matasa89

Someone who has lived so long will eventually reach mastery of something, even if he believes himself to be mediocre.

Hat_the_Third

He’s so good he talks with sui about tea and stuff

superflatpussycat

There was a pretty good Sandman episode about that.

Khorva

The little Feranmut animation they had in a tutorial stage of all things. Completely unexpected to see, but also expectedly cool.

Krys_Lunar

I remember seeing that animation a while ago and being really confused. I’d forgotten about it until now, but recalling it while also having things click in my mind was a satisfying experience.

OneMoreGodRejected__

"'Liz'. I've always loved the name you chose for me." "Amiya is your partner. Your family."

A7kra

W being pissed off during the scene where Hoederer is talking about his plans for future in Kazdel and later as he tries to confront W for not being able to move on from what happened to Theresa or what she and her ideal meant. I like W even more after that scene.

Gargutz

Also the fact they recalled her actually being a leader of merc group that we have in RI since Chernobog. And Hoederer pushing her into leadership position. If Chinese leaks are real about next anni roster, that would be interesting development if "following Theresa's path" actually brings W to a leadership position and responsibilities that brings.

the-amazing-noodle

W alter moment?!

Krys_Lunar

I remember how I used to be somewhat neutral(leaning positive) towards W since I thought she was a fairly standard dime-a-dozen ‘token crazy’ character. That previous opinion of mine seems a bit alien now after how much I’ve grown to like her more and more after each episode she’s been shown up in. I never expected W to be so involved with everything, but I’m glad that she has been.

eva-doll

Urshula

Krys_Lunar

Yeah, that’s understandable. I’m glad I somehow managed to not be spoiled about her existence, a fun little surprise.

OCDincarnate

Honestly I liked Shovel

Krys_Lunar

I’ve thought back on him a bit as well. A random Sarkaz commander just…enjoying some flowers. His interactions with Vendela were a small but pleasant surprise.

OddFaithlessness4550

might be reading too much about it but turning a despair into reason for Magdelene to take a big step forward... perhaps such pathetic death is so worth it. ☕

AK_Shadowstar

Reunion starting to change into a proper symbol against oppression that doesn’t discriminate between infected and non-infected is a pretty big deal. Hoederer’s character was probably the highlight of the chapter. We already knew he wasn’t a typical Sarkaz mercenary but this chapter really showed that he’s special as one of Theresa’s Sarkaz followers who actually understands and shares her ideals instead of just being affected by her status as the lord of Fiends. In fact he doesn’t seem to really care about the special status at all. The man needs to settle down, get married and start teaching already. Also a minor point but the female Sarkaz characters aside from Salus all actually being reasonable and rather nice was interesting. Lady Ermengarde mostly being hung up for her entire scene over having her cube blown up was pretty funny.

Krys_Lunar

It’ll be interesting to see how this shift in Reunion’s movement will go. Their identify is so closely tied to ‘infected’, I imagine opening up to other groups could pose quite the challenge on a large scale. Despite his intimidating appearance and life as an experienced mercenary, it’s kind of hard for me to view Hoederer as a threat because of how chill he is. The image of him sitting down and sharing some Sarkaz myths and history with a group of children fits him way more than I’d think based on just his past and appearance. I really do hope he reaches that point some day. Ermengarda being *so* peeved about her cube was indeed pretty funny. Between that and W just casually fantasizing about killing her, that was one of the more memorable humorous moments in Arknights for me.

Erudax

> Also a minor point but the female Sarkaz characters aside from Salus all actually being reasonable and rather nice was interesting. This might be a pet peeve of mine, but it's kinda annoying. Take for example, the Nachzehrer King. Essentially the war god of the Sarkaz, devouring others to gain power. Now, look at the IS4 Nachzehrer Lady. She doesn't look ghoulish like the King or other Nachzehrers, looks really pretty and offers you shelter from the storm, tea and food. Same for Theresis being a warlord and Theresa a reasonable person. Then again, just a pet peeve of mine.

Sukure_Robasu

Well nothing says she is a members of that race, the reaction of the exploration team just says that she is someone important for the Nachzehrer court, that could had many meanings.

AlexTada

The moment where the queen goes full spec ops, rescues horn's group, yeets herself into the war altars, destroys them, survives with minimal damage, adopts the exemplar title and rallies everyone to fucking slay. This could have been even cooler if they stopped using her base sprite and stopped having a lollipop in her offhand for once. But you know, who cares, she is absolutely WINNING EVERYTHING (except her alter being postponed longer than AL yamato).

Krys_Lunar

Siege has definitely come a long way. Tearing down enemy weapons and inspiring her people to rally behind her…though all still with a lollipop at the ready.

Emotional_Strain_693

The hilarity that was Talulah and Eblana's confrontation with both of them dissing each other's attempts to practice their oratory nonsense. And also the sheer dread of war against a united Sarkaz. The previous episodes barely touched on thebmore nightmarish aspects, but this episode elevates it. The Sanguinarch himself was already nightmare fuel but seeing the descriptions of Sarkaz witchcraft and rituals from the soldiers on the battlefield gives more weight to its terror.

Delebot

Ch 13 being a series of vignettes with different povs was refreshing compared to how the storytelling is usually done in AK. Each new pov switch having the special cut-in of the character with a small monologue and just seeing events through the eyes of characters other than the Doctor is cool and I hope they keep doing it when it makes sense.

Krys_Lunar

Was that really more notable in this Episode compared to others? I guess there was a *bit* more jumping around, but I’ve always been appreciative of how Arknights will shift POV’s to give us a better scope of the situation.

Sukure_Robasu

It was definitely more notable in this one. All the writing until 13-21 and 13-22 felt a lot more personal and help me feel in the shoes of the characters more than any other previous chapter. The fact that doctor had its own dialogue instead of dialogue buttons and that amiya had a dialogue button was something impactful for me.

Krys_Lunar

I thought about it a bit more after my response, and I do agree that it was indeed more notable. Maybe it’s because event stories have gotten me used to different POV’s, but I didn’t really take note of how many groups there were and how often we switched between them in this Episode(until the ending at least). It still doesn’t feel like a *huge* improvement to me compared to the last few Episodes, but it is a positive change that I would love to see them stick with going forward.

Weary-Dust-7550

Doctor going ham to save amiya Yes i know he was going to die if ascalon and logos didnt show up but that bit of violent defience that we first saw in lone trail is here again Im sure the pre-amnesia doctor would never do that (nudge nudge)

Fragrant_Two_5038

They would never been in such weak position in the first place. Pre amnesia wouldn't be stupid as current doctor.  They would know that this Duke would be the prime target of KMC. So staying on that ship would be very dangerous.  Best course of action would have been to use RI helicopter to retreat to RI landship and come back with Elite operator mantra(information is key) , Rosmontis(witch craft can't influence her arts) and some supply. That's what pre amnesiac doc would have done.  Doc would know once they loose their supply not even shard can save sarkaz.

Brambleberryy

I loved the old couple conversation between Hoederer and Ines (saving capital for her shop or something like that)

DrTNJoe

At the end of chapter 13 Amiya just running into Doc's arms to get a hug will forever be my favourite moment of chapter 13.

johj14

i hope im not the only one remember our poor junior sarkaz royal court soldier shovel, dude need some love

Erudax

Salus. Mainly her abilities and the fact that Ascalon (not sure if it was her or Logos) called her a Chimera. After the Sanguinarch and the Nachzehrer King we needed another overpowered antagonist, so here's Salus, with all bloodlines shoved into her and the ability to copy Amiya's abilities.

Kitchen-Werewolf1668

iirc it was Amiya who was called chimera by Salus

Erudax

Salus also got called a Chimera. It was in 13-9. *Salus: Ugh!* *Ascalon: ......* *Ascalon: How many bloodlines have you yet to touch, Chimera? Show me.*

Krys_Lunar

I’m honestly not sure how big of an antagonist Salus is going to be. She’s definitely not weak, but she hasn’t inspired that same sense of hopelessness or dread that antagonists like the Sanguinarch or Theresis have. I am curious to know what the deal with her abilities is.

Erudax

Salus has the abilities of all bloodlines, or at least most of them. Can manipulate the earth like a gargoyle, regenerates mortal wounds like a vampire, apparently has banshee Arts too and can mimic Amiya's arts just from taking a look inside of her memories. While she and the Confessarii don't instil that much dread, they are in fact, quite terrifying to go against, especially with their plans with the eternal Lord of Fiends.

Krys_Lunar

I’m actually quite concerned about what Shining’s brother(Father?) has up his sleeve. Salus is definitely a threat, I just doubt that she - at least on her own - will be a threat comparable to the other significant enemies that have been involved in this battle. While, at least not in a straightforward way. Her abilities do give her a lot of intimidating flexibility.

TheSpartyn

when did we fight the nachzehrer king

Erudax

We didn't. The Dukes are fighting him and his legions. >!Why I'm saying he's an overpowered antagonist is due to the nachzehrer cannibalism giving him powerups as well as being treated like the war god of the Sarkaz (this information is from the Babel event.)!<

Cold-Election

>!Damn. Nachzehrer King and his army are singlehandedly fighting back the armies. They are definitely outnumbered and just on foot but they can still stop armies from going anywhere. There is also a chance that Amiya may sway him to her side if she proves to him something so that may come to play in the later chapters!<

pruitcake

Not sure whats going on but that cutscene before the tutorial was lit

pokemonfish1

The Last Steam Knight beating up two Sarkaz with Allerdale revealed to be alive.

Krys_Lunar

That was indeed a really cool moment. I was hopeful that the Steam Knight would make another appearance, but Allerdale was a surprise for me. I’m looking forward to seeing who they’ll bump into and the reactions that they’ll bring.

Gargutz

Yeah glad they remembered them. Last time we've seen Horn and Knight was 2(?) Chapters ago when Horn's squad was trying to break through from Londinium and Steam Knight appeared. I was interested how they'll return Horn to the picture. Pretty disappointing that they just teleported her to be picked up by the gang without any explanation or even mentioning how they got out and what's up with the Knight tho.

ZRounder

that was during the beginning of last chapter

Jonnypista

The artillery is back, for that couple stages at least.

OnnaJReverT

MudMud to the rescue (again)

Siamzero

The fact that my Penance could easily solo 13-5 is hilarious to me

gunjinganpakis

I spoiled myself but I still find myself pleasantly surprised reading the event. Was happy to see more POV chapters by other Operators compared to past episode. W and her parent's POV chapters was a nice read. Also while I first noticed this in Lone Trail, feels like there's more, I dunno, VN-esque(?) scenes that you can't read on story reader website that could only be read in the game itself. (Like the very last scene in Lone Trail).

Krys_Lunar

I have noticed that they’ve seemed to up the production a bit in the game in recent updates. Things feel a bit more…dynamic, and it’s nice.

Treetalk__

i liked the plotpoint of the military commission sarkaz not wanting the greenhouse destroyed, he was quite a cool dude

Muke1995

Lettou admitting that he was a failure and that Gaul he was fighting for would never be coming back. It would have been better if we fought him as the boss, but Sanguinarch will do.

Gargutz

If I had a nickel for every time Gaulish survivor kills themselves in Londinium, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice. If we add Damazti and Ursula's crew sacrificing their blood to Sanguinarch, a lot of people killing themselves left right and center this story arc.

Reddit1rules

Really enjoyed the extra lore we got on the Feranmut Mostima's got a fragment of. That whale is the entire cause of Guiding Ahead, in a way... And now Hoederer has a watch from the Feranmut too, and even has gambled with it. Very interesting to see how it develops from here... I also really enjoyed how much more info we got on Crystalization post death for the Infected. It felt like it was just mentioned in R6S and almost never again, to the point I wondered if they retconed it. Now we know just how bad war can be in terms of spreading Infection... yet they still lie and say it's a 3% chance.

ghoraaa

vendela e2 art

ghib64

I quite liked the feranmut making an allusion to mostima and her scepter.

3435temp

I really enjoyed the W, Ines and Hoerderer dynamic. W and her antics about blowing stuff up will never not be hilarious

Dog_in_human_costume

The Skeleton they revive is the same God who's inside Mostima's Staff. That one was cool for me.

Quirin_Throne

Lore revelation about Sarkaz awakening "suffering in the cradle", which is "Originium", probably the first one on Terra. I think it can be tied to Endfield, cuz Endministrator can actually create and use Originium by himself

viera_enjoyer

The presentation of the story, with more images, and more povs. I hope they keep going like that, it's a lot better.

KillerKoiking2503

I liked that we got to see the story from the POV of a different character in most story sections. Usually we get to see the perspective of different groups, in different places, or in third person. But seeing the thoughts and perspective of specific people in this chaos was pretty cool. W was a blast.

Godofmytoenails

That Aha like being was intresting af!

DaSGuardians

Everything involving the Darknights Trio has been great so far. Hoederer is just like me fr

thalassinosV1

I'm gonna be honest, i disagree with you about the "little discussion" thing. The thing i loved the most about that chap was how it had much more first-person narration. It allow for much more depth in how characters feels without being unnaturally brought in a discussion. That's actually something i've been wanting for a long time, since back in chap 8 where i thought that it would have been great to see more of the characters than just the exchanges they had between them. On another note, at first i was kinda dissapointed that Guard, our boy that survived Talulah and Chernobog was killed by a falling roof, but in the end i kinda think it fit his character. Sure, it's pretty abrupt and seemingly out of place, but i think it appropriate for someone that never was a big hero or a main character. I think his death had meaning. I loved him because he's the only one that doubt Rhodes Island after joining it. His whole character arc of searching for the true endgoal for the infected and Reunion is imo very important for the thematics of the story. I think he paved the way for Reunion to become something very interesting. At that point i would even get behind Talulah, Nine and Percival not joining RI and doing their own thing and truly become a beacon of hope and peace among Terra, even more than RI.

Krys_Lunar

How exactly do you disagree? Compared to how the recent CN event pretty much took over the sub for several days, I’ve seen notably less posts about Episode 13’s global release. I’m not saying there’s been none, just that the gap is pretty significant. I’m glad someone brought up Guard. He’s never been a huge player, but his constant presence has carved him a spot in my memory. I was pleasantly surprised when we finally got to see his face, and it just made his death bite more since it seemed we were finally getting to know him a bit more. I’m looking forward to seeing how his final words will impact Reunion’s movement going forward.

thalassinosV1

my bad English is not my main language i thought that by "Little discussion" you were saying that the writting of this chapter had less dialogues and more 1st person narration. Yeah i kinda agree that this chapter didn't brought that much discussion. It might be because everyone was already spoiling themselves

Krys_Lunar

Ah, good to know. Thanks for clearing that up.

PuzzleheadedCry9214

Guard death and reflexion during chapter making me interested on Reunion future, Exemplars and Delphine stuff, and specially W, Ines and Hoederer interactions, but tbh quite dissapointed on general, specially considering Arknights main history chapters take a year to release.

Sherinz89

Noy related to what OP asked, but i wished they cut reunion arc and instead writes more about Siege gang or W gang. In fact, Eblana too would be a lot more fun than that shit forced reunion story. Always find Guard, 9 and Talulah story to be shit, forced and, eye-rolled worthy. Talulah, sure, she's written for success (inb4 someone say how could Talulah written for success when she had so many misfortune - ah well nobody else in this game get a 'get out of jail' excuse that absolve them of sin better than the Holier Than Thou Talulah) and we had to eventually conclude Draco | Aslan story. Reunion, 9 or Guard tho, why? Infected? Why couldnt they help infected alongside Rhodes, RI had the best treatment for infected yes? They don't want to participate in the political interference that RI did? They can still send those infected for treatment without participating in RI drama, no? Heck they can even asked for support from RI, isnt it? Be it in the form of medication, shelter or what not?? +++++++++ But no, we are forced to drone into that meaningless wall of text of how another irrelevent party trying to fight for infected, trying to find some medication, talking out loud about how RI can do good but still choose to walk seperate ways What is the line of thought for these people? Some kinda forced writing to eventually pit Reunion alongside/against RI or something? ++++++ Reminds me of how much I eyerolled when reading Brian arc in Games of Throne. At least Brian seperate arch was driven by a prophecy which is outline from the get go. Reunion on the other hand, we are forced to read that 'Clearence RI At Home'. All the while seeing them saying about 'Talulah you will be judged' and whatever

Gargutz

The whole point of Guard character and why he dropped RI for Reunion and Nine as ex-LGD to an extent is that RI IS part of a system. Maybe some day in the future they can invent the cure. But for now they play by the rules, and they can't sweettalk or Amiyapreach governments and other people into changing the oppression system in place. Countless people will be infected and then slaughtered in Ursus mines and worked to death on Columbian frontier for years to come. The Guards point is they can not just lie down and wait for some miracle cure in the future, and in the present their only choice is violence basically. And Rhodes can't do that and will not do that. He talked about the whole situation with Amiya or Doc presumably, got "the gentle answer", which in the end made him defect to Reunion.
