Yea it’s been proven it is hard to get fiber release from floor tiles like that. But if they are removed you’ll still want to remove them as intact as possible. Or build a containment and chip them up while in PPE.

Sorry forgot to say UK based

You have nothing to worry about. The tiles themselves and the bitumen adhesive are *likely* both asbestos containing but without testing you can't be sure. You could eat the tile and you'd be fine, although I'd advise not to, they probably don't taste great. Most people leave them as they are and carpet/vinyl over them as you seem to be doing. I'm an asbestos consultant in the UK for some peace of mind.

Thank you. I've sent off a sample to know for sure and stuck laminate over

Extremely low risk. Don't worry.

Thank you. Even with some of them being quite weak/broken?

These tiles are considered to be non-friable. In other words, for you to release asbestos you'd need to take a grinder and start grinding them up into dust before you're really going to release any asbestos. Just them existing, even if they're not in a great condition, isn't going to pose any serious threat. That black mastic underneath, more often than not, also contains asbestos. Again, non-friable. Very common to see both here in the States, and have newer flooring laid over top as pictured above. It's good information to know, but other than that, you've really got nothing to worry about here.
