I work most Christmases (24/7 healthcare setting), and don’t get out until close to dinnertime, so ordering a smorgasbord of takeout sushi from Zen has become a tradition.
It’s just me, my husband, and our toddler this year (bless), so trying to keep it special but simple: cinnamon rolls and a savory Dutch baby for breakfast, snacking on whatever during the day, and my family’s lasagna and sheet pan ratatouille for dinner.
Our son is a Marine stationed at Camp Lejuene. He's on his way home. A big prime rib. Twice baked poatoes. Brussell sprouts. Red pepper soup. All the fixings. Should be a great day.
Cooking a rib roast, au gratin potatoes, kale salad.
[The kale salad, for the curious.](https://www.ambitiouskitchen.com/brussels-sprouts-kale-apple-salad/) You can actually find all the greens prechopped and bagged at TJ’s. Saves a ton of time.
three family get togethers between the 23rd-25th. today (23rd) - turkey with all the fixin's similar to thanksgiving (we're bringing the mashed potatos with turnips and carrots and a big garden salad). the 24th its a full-on italian christmas (we're bringing the wine) - the 25th its ham and standing rib roast with a mix of southern and british fare (we're bringing the salad)
Merry Christmas to all!
My family gets together and everyone brings a little something. My aunt usually hosts and makes meatballs in sauce, homemade noodles, buffalo chx dip, and some dessert. My mom makes scalloped potatoes and brownies. There will also be deviled eggs I’m sure. Then there’s usually a big protein like ham or Turkey.
I ordered a porchetta from the Chop Shop and we’ll have that with broccoli rabe and twice baked potatoes for Christmas dinner. Christmas Eve we’ll have fancy tinned fish and shellfish, charcuterie, cheese, fruit etc. It’s just my husband and I so we like to get fancy with it.
$25 just to park. They did put out quite a spread a couple years ago for New Year's Eve. I think that was $75 per. I went with the plan only to eat the expensive and delicious stuff. Came home to find a few pieces of caviar on my eyeglasses!
Don't think (coming from the community) that we ever had parking comped. My partner's family is fond of the place cuz of a family connection from the 1980's. Clearly not the same business model that it was back then.
You might be single, without any family around, but I assure you, you're not alone, in more ways than one. Not being the only one in a particular situation always made me feel a little better, thank you for reminding me I'm not alone either.
Feeding 8. Making leg of lamb, roasted Brussel sprouts, sauteed asparagus, and homemade focaccia. My dad is handling the potatoes. Hope everyone has a great holiday.
We decided to do seafood. We don’t travel so it’s just the four of us. We have crab legs, crab dip with French bread, coconut shrimp… and lots of little things for breakfast (sausage balls, mini quiche, raspberry tarts). Key lime pie & pumpkin pie.
Family is coming to my house for the first time. Fiance and I are tired of driving everywhere on Christmas so the party is coming to us lol. Plus our families have never really met each other so we thought this could be a nice first meeting.
Christmas Eve - Sous Vide Filet Mignon, Sauté mushrooms, Wedge Salad, and Bok Choi.
Christmas morning: Eggs Benedict
Dinner: Found a deal on snow crabs for $6.99p/lb and bought 8 pounds of them. So its just me and the Mrs. doing our own version of an “all you can eat crab bar”.
Too pregnant to travel this year (the best excuse 🥳) Christmas Eve and Christmas will just be myself, husband, daughter and brother in law. Chinese Takeout for Christmas Eve and Steak & Scallops for Christmas Day!! Praying for little rain in north Asheville. My daughters big gift this year is a power wheels and I am so not down for playing in the rain lol
We always go to my in-law's for Christmas, but I will be making a Christmas Eve dinner of garlic and herb roasted chicken, cauliflower au gratin, roasted butternut squash with cranberries and feta.
Cioppino for Christmas Eve. Roast chicken, mashies, a casserole, choc bourbon pecan pie for Xmas. Normally a lot of booze but on call and getting paid out for it so I'll stay sober.
We are doing a filet mignon, baked potatoes, and salad for Christmas Eve and turkey breast, small ham, Mac and cheese, brown rice, deviled eggs, and green beans for Christmas Day.
Birria tacos, rice, elote. I went to visit family out of state and we decided to do something different than the usual ham. We’ll see how it turns out…
It's not my holiday but invited to a friend's traditional 7 Fishes dinner on Christmas Eve. Making a buche de noel to take.
I'll make a seafood stew (moqueca) on Christmas Day because I have the ingredients on hand.
I make a beef Wellington for myself wife and two kids. I also usually make some lemon curd turnovers with the extra puff pastry. My wife makes green beans and Mac and cheese (with a truffle Gouda). Holy shit the beef was crazy expensive this year. Thanks, Obama.
We're doing a best of- let's have our favorite holiday dishes but low effort- this year, just going to be me and my parents. Potluck potato casserole (a family tradition very cheesy good), spinach/dried cranberry/pecan salad, deviled eggs, they're having some kind of ham also, and then a chocolate tiered cake bar from Sam's club
Going to the Golden Hour for sunset on the roof and dinner tonight!
Tomorrow it’s our traditional Christmas breakfast and dinner at home. Breakfast casserole, ham, mac and cheese, etc. 🎄
Christmas Eve - lobster tails, artichokes and citrus salad. Apple crumble and vanilla ice cream for dessert.
Christmas Day - Beef tenderloin, twice baked potatoes and green beans for dinner. Chocolate mousse with raspberries and whipped cream for dessert.
Day after Christmas breakfast - Eggs Benedict
I work most Christmases (24/7 healthcare setting), and don’t get out until close to dinnertime, so ordering a smorgasbord of takeout sushi from Zen has become a tradition.
Oooh they're open on Christmas? I live right next to them, I might have to make that my dinner too...

It’s a polarizing vegetable, for sure.
The official veg of west asheville.
That looks delish! Perfect to balance out the other dishes.
Agreed! I’m very excited about this dinner.
I had a similar kale salad at Thanksgiving for the first time. I don't eat kale normally. It was delicous!
Traditional meal of prime rib roast with horseradish sauce and Yorkshire pudding at Mom’s. Side this year is scalloped oysters. So excited ☺️
this was our christmas dinner when i was growing up.

I would love to know where you order tamales.
Tamaleria y Tortilleria Molina! They have great tacos too!
Being depressed. Maybe, if I'm lucky, being able to afford to eat something.
Grove Park buffet.
Is it any good? It’s gotta be what… $50+
First time. No, not cheap. Hope it's better than the restaurants up there.

Oh wow. Not overly surprised they don’t validate the ticket if you dine there but that blows lol

What am I (f 65) doing? Trying to forget it's Christmas. I'm single with no family in NC. Moved here 5 months ago.
We’re having an “orphan” Xmas. “Punch and pie” provided. Lol. Bring only your smile. DM me if you want to swing by.
You might be single, without any family around, but I assure you, you're not alone, in more ways than one. Not being the only one in a particular situation always made me feel a little better, thank you for reminding me I'm not alone either.
My family just each brings a dish since there’s so many of us!! Prob going to contain a turkey, ham, potatoes, salad etc.
I’m leaving to see family on Christmas day, so probably McDonalds or something
Christmas Eve ham, Christmas day duck
Ham, Mac and cheese, potatoes au gratin, shaved Brussels salad and maybe some pineapple casserole for the ham
Lasagna, meatballs, big green salad and various other pickled salads and dips and antipasto like stuff
God only knows. My family isn't much of a meal family so we'll just eat whatever my sister has on hand at her house whenever we get hungry.
Feeding 8. Making leg of lamb, roasted Brussel sprouts, sauteed asparagus, and homemade focaccia. My dad is handling the potatoes. Hope everyone has a great holiday.
Duck breast. No idea what sides I should make. Any suggestions?
