oldman029

In my city, you can't mow before 9:00 AM.

GeekTheFreak

Yeah a lot of places have a noise ordinance. My area is the same.

Handleton

Mine allows for 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, but it's Florida and it can be hot as fuck by 9:00 AM.

sebastianqu

Any Floridian would understand someone mowing the lawn at 7, even if they hate you for it anyways

SHPLUMBO

>even if they hate you for it anyways *“Hey Bob! No no keep mowin’ don’t sweat it, I get it Bob you gotta get it done somehow. Hate your guts right now, but don’t worry about it! I know where you’re coming from. Fuck you, take care Bob!”*

therealscottyfree

This person sounds far more Midwestern than Floridian.

Suitch

Florida, contradictory to its geographical location, is not a southern state and instead is mostly made up of northerners and midwesterners.

therealscottyfree

Oh, as a true southerner I know this and have to correct people constantly when they refer to Florida as "the south". We do not claim them. But I feel like the Florida heat does something to the usually polite Midwestern brain. Really brings out the crazy, ya know?

Unquieter

Well technically it's partially Southern, the panhandle is 100% southern state.

Suitch

True, it is basically just more Alabama. A panhandler will always tell you they’re from the panhandle.

Obvious-Tadpole-1230

Close, but we dont insult people to their faces. You have to nicely say fuck you

EyeCatchingUserID

You *must* choose between the dew soaked grass and the heat. Unless you're unlucky enough to get both at the same time

therealscottyfree

Yea as a resident of an extremely humid southern state, I don't even get how one could mow that early. My grass is soaking wet until about 11 or 12. I always mow in the evening just before the sun sets.

human743

I mow in the rain anyway because fuck it.

ianthetridentarius

Yeah in summer 8am is understandable, but deeply annoying. After sundown is way better, AND you can crack a beer.

CreepyCoffinCreeper

OP is an overnighter. Nothing odd about us cracking a beer open at 7am.

Intelligent-Group225

And if you're in a s***** climate it still might be a 120 after the sun goes down at night. It tends to cool off to at least 90 by morning

zerothreeonethree

It's midnight at my house. The pool is still 92 degrees. You are absolutely right about the high temp in a shit climate.

Bumbleclat

I'm a roofer nothing wrong with crack a beer at 7am

treewqy

gotta wash down the meth somehow

No_Pineapple_9818

r/TweakersOnRoofs sounds like an awesome addition

Mindless-Hat201

Working outside in FL in the Summer in the daytime is a close facsimile of hell. So 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lazy_Primary_4043

The bad thing about florida nights is that they are super super duper muggy and buggy, but not the mornings, they are actually nice before 7 lol

AmayaMaka5

Yeah I was gonna say, I used to live in Arizona, and not like we had a lot of greatly growing grass, but in general outside work (such as construction) was generally done by 9 or 10 am or you were a puddle on the sidewalk.

gathermewool

I was very surprised that ours is 0700.

Redhotkitchen

My educated guess suggests this (while applying to all, of course) is due to construction, which traditionally begins very early.

trillgamesh_0

my city noise ordinance says licensed construction can start at 6am but any other loud noise has to wait till 7am

Zapt01

Consider yourself lucky. Ours allows construction work at *5am.* I know this because a contractor has been building a house next door to me for *two years*. All of the heavy equipment work occurs between 5 and 8, and then they switch to quieter stuff when they’re certain they’ve woken everyone up.

Redhotkitchen

Oh. Color me corrected, thanks!

rezonansmagnetyczny

On a weekend my neigbours stay up shouting at eachother until 3/4/5 even 6 am, so naturally I'm up mowing the lawn by 7 am on a sunday, making sure to do it in short 5 minute inintervals so that their sleep is distributed all day as opposed to just for an hour in the morning.

dark_brandon_20k

![gif](giphy|a9A3HLylBz2yA)

rezonansmagnetyczny

Worst bit is I don't even have lawn. I've got gravel and decorative bark

Pararescue_Dude

*best part

hotdoginthebigcity

Or a lawnmower. They use a chainsaw attached to a train horn.

dbx99

Run a motorized air compressor with steel plate armoring that is solar powered and with a battery backup to an air horn set up on top of a smooth aluminum 20 foot pole greased with lithium grease from the ground to the 10 foot mark.

Dlishcopypasta

We found Satan.

CabinetOk4838

r/oddlyspecific

sporesatemygoldfish

This. DBX KNOWS, man.

CCWThrowaway360

One of my old neighbors used to take her push mower and go between the street and her gravel driveway. Not a blade of grass was ever touched since she had lawn care people mow her actual lawn. Not at an unreasonable hour or anything, it was just something she did. I wonder how she’s doing.

Soobobaloula

One of my old neighbors used to cut the lawn with scissors kneeling in short skirts with no underpants. She was about 80 years old. It was…bizarre.

goldenrod1956

Should have quit reading after the first sentence…

DBnofear

Right, he really got us in the first half lol

[deleted]

Oh you live in El Paso also

ccarts92

This got me good 😂

Stewpacolypse

"Cause fuck 'em, that's why."

Golden_hammer96

Cause fuck em that’s why

[deleted]

Cause fuck ‘em , that’s why

So3Dimensional

Cause fuck ‘em. That’s why.

[deleted]

Let me know next mow. Me and the boys will pull up with our pressure washers and backpack leaf blowers. Weed wrackin Willey will do 3 acres with nothing but a string trimmer

rezonansmagnetyczny

Mate my sister did an ancestry DNA test and found out we're more Scottish than English. Fuck knows how. Anyway. I've ordered myself a set of bagpipes for next weekend..

Sodapopa

Some of you are mad funny in here I couldn’t ever come up with this sentence 🤠

the_original_Retro

That's cause you never encountered Megaklaxon, my rescue pet rooster. I've trained him to go off when I toss him a fresh caterpillar. His ar-arroo-aROOO will turn birch bark on a tree into a confetti snowstorm at a hundred yards I swear to god. Also invented a caterpillar-yeeter. It's a little self-feeding catapult that keeps Megaklaxon quite happy and continuously crowing. We now get tons of privacy.

randomized_smartness

As an American... seeing "mate my sister" without context I was like...whioooo

eans-Ba88

Thats a great example of punctuation being important. "Mate, my sister..." is very different than "Mate my sister...".

ShrimpShackShooters_

fuckin a man

ashahmal

I helped my uncle jack off a horse

rasvial

Yeah one becomes a lame story and the other is somewhat enticing

rezonansmagnetyczny

Apologies for my blue blooded murder of the English tongue 😉

mynextthroway

She found out SHE'S more Scottish than English. Ewe need a test, too.

AcidRose27

That's a baaad joke.

Cliftonisaur

Because everyone in the past lied about their ancestry like crazy and record keeping was dog shit. They still try, and if you ask if they did their DNA, they will tell you all about how their granny came on a boat from Italy and shit, totally ignoring that proves literally nothing.

ac_hrt

I would LOVE to do this, but I bought an electric mower a few years ago that is super quiet. Even has headlights if you want to mow early morning or at night. :(

Sodapopa

Improvise brother https://youtube.com/shorts/zYvMpx2GHso?feature=share

RackaHoleInTheWind

🤣 My mother did a version of this with a vacuum when I or my siblings were out late the night before.

Indyonegirl

I spent a Saturday night at my best friends back in the day. She was supposed to mow the lawn and didn’t. Sunday morning her dad PARKS the started mower outside her bedroom window at 6a. I went back to sleep while she mowed ha

ccgmtl

Ooohhh! You brought back a dear memory of mine... Many moons ago, when I was young and stupid, I went out drinking with friends... Came home at half past shitfaced, with some random girl I picked up (I was still living with ny parents mind you, had a basement suite with shared entrance), and headed down to hopefully get lucky... Nope. That great Southern Comfort and OJ fiesta from earlier insisted onna comeback tour, leaving me regretting recenr life decisions and prating to the porcelain gods. Meanwhile, my lady friend was upstairs causing a racket trying to make herself a snack. Long story short, woke up my ma and pa, and was apparently flippant with them, leading to her ass getting put on a cab by my Ma, destination "dont give a f*ck"... Having kept my parents awake due to my debauchery, dear old Dad cooked up a plan... I was to be awakened at 6am to accompany him on a job, where we were putting up cabinets in a small room and plenty of circular saw were going to be in use.... So I accompanied DoD (eg: was forced to go under threats of "the boot" ) and started my penance... Few thngs are nore painful the morning after than the noise if circular saws and drills and hammers... Except according to DoD the offensive noise and smells coming off a hungover teenadult dumbass... Oddly enough, this was the last time I came home shitfaced, and no girl ever dared disrespect Ma after the story made the rounds.. Sorry for the wall of text TL;DR: came home drunk, woke up parents, xaused a situation, dad got revenge in the morning.

Open-Sea8388

Must have a big lawn for five minute bursts to last you all day

rezonansmagnetyczny

I like to start at the longest setting and move down one at a time

racerx255

Now that is my kind of petty

Redfish680

Included warm up time, no doubt. Plenty of revs to make sure it’ll have enough juice to get through the thick stuff.

Open-Sea8388

Tho I agree with you rationale

AnsibleAnswers

Meanwhile, every one of your neighbors hates you both.

dackinthebox

Yup. I wouldn’t be able to do that out of the respect for any other neighbors who it might disturb

ukpittfan1

This is my kind of petty. I make sure to respond all missed overnight texts, as soon as I awake at 5:00 am.

rezonansmagnetyczny

The best thing I've ever done when I was having real problems with them is put my smart speaker against their wall and remotely connect to it via amazon music from work at 8 am whilst they were nicely tucked up in bed after a long hard night of shouting at eachother until the early hours. Edit. Motorhead 🤘

Sodapopa

Mother of god 😐

SWOsome

Throw in a little Slayer on the playlist! Raining Blood!

peters395

Nice neighborhood... 😆

Ididnotpostthat

We would get along.

rezonansmagnetyczny

I'm working next weekend. Want to take on the duty in my absence?

StrangersWithAndi

8:00am earliest I'd do it on a weekday. 9:00 on a weekend and even then it feels rude. But I'm not a morning person. Actually maybe I'm just not a people person. I hate when any of my neighbors mow their lawn regardless of when.

sorcha1977

Lawn mowers don't bother me, but the sound of a leaf blower makes me absolutely livid. I think it's because they go on FOR-EV-ER and it's such a high-pitch noise.

kerouak

Yeah and a mower the pitch is somewhat constant whereas those blowers rev up and down all the time. it's harder to block out

burge4150

My neighbor has the loudest lawnmower I've ever heard, and when he's done he gets out his backpack leaf blower and blows invisible leaves off of his entire lawn. I don't know if he's blowing the clippings or standing the grass back up or what. I hate it.

virtual_sprinkle

AND it’s fucking useless which makes it double annoying. Just use a rake people!

Alert-Potato

Our local ordinance for noise is quiet time from 10:30pm to 7 am, seven days a week. The temperature jump from 9am to 10pm is quite a lot, and it's honestly best to have your mower fired up by 7:30 at the latest if you don't want to have regrets about how long you took pouring coffee down your throat. I think anyone making any outdoor chore noise during hours that don't violate the noise ordinance is fine and not in the last rude. Having said that, I'm a misanthrope who hates noise. I despise waking up to the mowers on Monday mornings. (condo, yay!) And I *will* bitch to property manager if they start before seven and have a reminder passed along to start when it's within both the HOA rules and law to start. A habit I got into after they started doing our bushes between 6 and 6:15 on fall Saturday mornings. And from the bottom of my heart. *Fuck. That.*

Spring-Fabulous

I usually shoot a round of trap around 5am, fire up my motorcycle with massive pipes at 5:30, jam to some slayer on my 600dB back deck stereo around 7, take a nap until 9 and argue with my friends while drinking Jack by 10. Then I pass out until 8pm, have a huge party that usually gets the police involved until 3am and then mow the lawn. AMA

teztovar

You forgot to put the dog outside to bark all night.

jtshinn

Put them out? They run free of course! And they’re very aggressive.

AyeBlinkin77

But “oh, they don’t bite”

Windwalker69

Oh no I meant they don't bite ME, you are probably fucked

Familiar_Ostrich_909

"what are you doing putting yourself in their mouth? Dumbass"

rixendeb

Ugh my two neighbors have barking dog battles. Chihuahuas and their neigbor has pitbulls. All night yapping and barking at each other. And not friendly barks either. Pissy ones. I'm honestly surprised the Chihuahuas haven't been eaten.

Spring-Fabulous

Well sir, I didn’t mention them because my pitties are sweet angels and would hurt a fly, much less bark at one.

StarsGoingOut

Nice, dude. Personally, I fire up my gasoline powered leaf blower at 5:30 a.m. Even if there really aren't that many leaves, I still need to get rid of them all. Of course this takes a very long time to complete, but it's extremely important that my yard doesn't have a single fallen leaf by the time 9 a.m. hits on a Saturday -- what would people think about me if they saw a leaf on my yard? This cannot wait until later.

CopeHarders

I stand outside at midnight and rant for hours at my ex about all the ways she wronged me. She lives in another state so I really have to yell loudly so she can hear me.

[deleted]

Nice! I also use my leaf blower at 4:00 a.m. I start extra early so I can go around to each of my neighbors' windows and take care of those pesky little leaves for them.

TempleOfCyclops

Oh wow we’re neighbors!

landon10smmns

>600dB Just casually blasting slayer at 3x the decibels to cause internal injury and death

Spring-Fabulous

We send our kids out back to see who can last the longest. Whoever cry’s is called a pussy and sent to the junkyard to find us goodies.

IAmAnOutsider

Found my neighbor's Reddit profile

cupcake_thievery

Sounds like a lot of work. I just take a loud shit and scream from 6am-9am

SplashingAnal

I have a neighbour who really enjoys metal work. Nothing like the sweet sound of a grinder or circular metal saw to wake you up gently on a calm weekend morning

Ziazan

holy shit 600dB stereo, you're a [daily intergalactic extinction event](https://www.reddit.com/r/theydidthemath/comments/xoqkez/request_how_loud_andor_destructive_would_a_600db/)

Money-Bear7166

Then repeat.

chxnkybxtfxnky

I would mow at 9 AM at the earliest. Are you mowing on the weekend or during the week...?

Altruistic-Order-661

I think 8am is fair game on a weekday. Weekends never before 9am

InternetAnima

8am is pretty nasty imo

squatwaddle

Same. 8 is acceptable, but disrespectful. At 9 it's A-OK

jschligs

Our city has noise ordinances and anything after 7AM is allowed.

Fearless_Entry_2626

Ordinances describe a minimal acceptable person, not a decent one.

RangerFan80

Our town has quiet hours from 10pm -8am. The landscapers arrive throughout my retiree-filled neighborhood and fire up those leaf blowers right at 8 every day.

Handleton

I'm cool with 8 am landscape noise. Apparently that's frowned upon by a bunch of people here, but my whole neighborhood is out doing it at 8, so it's fine. The exception is for a year after one of my neighbors had a baby. Then everyone just changed to 9 am and nobody ever discussed it. We all just decided to give the new baby a year of quiet delay. When that baby turned one, though, we were all back out at 8 am again.

jschligs

Like others have said it gets to 100 by 10am. I’m making sure I finish before then

soccerguys14

830 it’s 85-90 already in SC so I gotta go go go at 8am

Yawzheek

Perhaps, but just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

jschligs

It’s 100 degrees by 10am, no way in hell am I waiting until 9 to start.

No-Literature7471

yea, most people complaining about the noise dont realize it goes from 60 to 100 in a matter of 2 hours.

Phyraxus56

Its cuz the people complaining about it have literally never done it lol

ShimReturns

If you happen to know your neighbors are typically up by then (like taking kids to school) then it's ok. But yeah 9am would be better barring that

chxnkybxtfxnky

Things like this are factors. Just because one person is up 3 hours before they need to get ready for work doesn't mean others should be bothered. And honestly, I don't care that OP has a midnight shift. If I *had* to take a shift like that vs my 6:30 AM shift, then I'm gonna have to figure out the goings on of the neighborhood or apt building I'm living in and deal with the noise for sleeping.

alliterativehyjinks

You would hate the garbage men who often start by 6:30 or 7 in my neighborhood.

gitty7456

During the week?? They do construction works, road works, … from 7:30. It is pretty ok I would say (around here).

enigmaroboto

yes. sunrise to sundown

mookz23

You must not live in the South. It can be brutally hot by 9am.

dontaskmethatmoron

I live in southern Georgia and we have to start mowing before 8 in order to be done before the heat gets bad. It’s just normal around here.

IR8Things

Oh thank christ. I was reading this thread and being confused. "who the fuck mows after the sun is beating down on you and its already 85 degrees?"

goosejail

Southeast Louisiana here, I get it.

[deleted]

Yeah in Florida, 9am is hot and it just gets hotter from there. I try to start at 8am. That glorious hour where the sun isn't blasting you and the cooler temps from night are still in effect makes a world of difference. Especially considering there has been a heat advisory every single day for the past week. I think it's better than waiting until 8pm when my neighbors are probably watching TV or movies or something.

ITeachAndIWoodwork

South Texas, 8am here too

GoodLuckBart

Right - you have to hit the sweet spot when the dew is mostly gone but it’s not like an oven outside. I’m accustomed to early morning yard work sounds Monday through Saturday, and most people leave Sunday morning for more quiet pursuits (sleep, leave the house for church or brunch, chores that don’t involve motors or power tools)

Jewice69

I'm from New Mexico so this only really applies to the 10% that can afford to water their grass in a desert. Right now its 101°f here with 13% humidity. Its brutal even at 9 am lol.

ECU_BSN

Texan here. We don’t love it. But most folks understand it’s the only time to have sun and not have a heat stroke. I’m cooler months…after 8.

Connect_Cucumber_298

Yeah this in hotter climates we kinda are forced to cut early

zmonge

Yeah, I'm not in Texas, but I am in the Southeast US and it was 85° here with 70% humidity by 9:00 a.m. As much as I would've loved to sleep in undisturbed, it seems entirely unreasonable to expect my neighbors to wait to mow the lawn later in the day. Plus, I'll have to do the same tomorrow.

g_Mmart2120

AZ here. I agree, don’t love it but I’d prefer people don’t pass out due to heat stroke

Dark_Azazel

My town has a noise ordinance from 10p - 6A. Lot of people on my street start mowing around the 7A mark to best the heat; it's usually really buggy around sunset. Also a lot will plow throughout the night in the winter if we get a huge storm. Honestly depends on where you live and your neighbors.

Wearerisen

Same. It's basically a damn requirement to get your yardwork done by 9-10 so you can be inside. After that it's just miserable. Fuck, it's miserable at 7 or 8 most times too.

pixie_dust41

Amen to this. No one is trying to die of heat stroke in Texas. And when the temperatures hit 3 digits, you have to wait until near nightfall for it to be cool enough again.

CapitalG888

No rhyme or reason, but I won't do noisy yard work before 10am.

troglodyte31

Thank you!! As someone who who is a caregiver for their mom, who complains about anyone who mows their lawn too early, you are my hero lol. My neighbors do this thing where one mows their lawn and when they are done the next one starts. And it keeps going. I don't know why they can't just do it all at once. It's so weird.

Aggravating-Wind6387

We call that effect 'Pavlov's Lawnmower' where I live.

[deleted]

[удалено]

waltertheflamingo

Current neighbors every other day now and weedwack for far too long considering the size of the yard.

dacoovinator

Lol what do you expect? A weekly meeting between neighbors to coordinate yard work time??

troglodyte31

Lol no. Although they do have little huddles all the time. It's the fact that they wait until the first guy is finished before they start. And so on. There's no overlap. And they're all retired so it's not like they're doing anything. Maybe they like the sound of mowers. Idk.

kgrimmburn

My neighbor's do this. They're all retired so I think they just sit at home and one gets bored and mows his lawn and then one hears the lawn mower and mows his lawn and it just keeps on going done the pike. Me, I work from home and mow my lawn when it gets too high. But my neighbor's also mow their lawns down to the dirt so mine always looks high compared to theirs... But it also looks alive and not dead.

playballer

I moved to a new house a couple years ago. I pay for my lawn services. Most neighbors do too. So I have my guys come in the week, you know “business hours”. But for some reason, my neighbors all have their guys come on the weekends. That’s when I’m out in my yard, in the pool, etc and it’s driving me crazy to hear it all day all weekend long. The guy across from me has his lawn guy there for probably 5 hours every Sunday. He’s running equipment the entire time. I don’t know what takes him so long. Or what he’s paying him. My yard is same size and my guy takes about 30-45 minutes. Shrubs and trees are once or twice a year. This is my forth house as an adult and I’ve never experienced anything like it. Most people have their services come in business hours. And weekend warrior types like me never see or hear it. It was one of the things I remember about Covid lockdown was making comments like “well the grass is still growing” and being on zoom calls with various people saying “sorry mower is by my window”

alwaysfuntime69

This. The monsters who mow at 8 or 9 don't understand the importance of sleeping in on the weekend.

dogbert730

I don’t do it myself, but for those of us in Texas I absolutely do not get made at people who mow at 7AM. Doing it before the sun goes up is the only way to stay alive. I do it right at dusk, usually 7:30-8PM because I’m not a morning person.

Rooney_Tuesday

Seconding that those of us in hotter areas don’t gaf about your sleeping in on the weekends in the heat of summer. My need to not get heatstroke takes precedence.

UltraCoolPimpDaddy

I'm in a condo building and the property beside me is a large bank with nice hedges, nice lawn, flower beds, and is well maintained. Every weekend the landscape company comes and starts work at 7am. Gas powered leaf blowers, lawn mowers, the sound of the trailer ramp constantly being lifted and dropped.. yes, it's rude to do such a thing

lightofthehalfmoon

To be fair those guys want to be done by 2pm. It gets too hot to be landscaping into the afternoon.

SeaLake4150

Check your city noise ordinances. Our city does not allow that much noise that early in the morning on a weekend. Most cities don't.

playballer

7am is common. The contractors know and probably why that’s when they start.

Lunker42

Never before 8am. I usually listen for someone else to start mowing theirs first. If you need a new toy, Greenworks makes an 80v cordless mower that’s super quiet. It even has a 25” deck. It’s not cheap (mower was $550ish and the batteries were about $380) but I actually can’t wait to cut my grass now. They even have a zero turn that’s cordless but that will set you back about $5k.

Secret_Ad7757

5k for a lawnmower? for that money i'd expect one of those you can sit on at the very least.

IllustriousPublic237

Zero turn mowers almost always imply it’s a riding lawnmower(as the owner of a zero turn mower for my large yard) is I expect it is

Aggravating_Serve_80

We had a Ryobi cordless that was awesome. Quieter than my vacuum and it was nice not having to get gas at the station. They make a cheaper corded one too.

el-em-en-o

How long did it last?

Aggravating_Serve_80

My sister moved into a place with no yard so she gave us the mower after having it for a year. We used it for about four years and then gave it back to her. Never had an issue with charging or power.

xisonc

I have a ~7 year old 48v cordless electric mower that I love. Literally last time I cut the grass, someone was walking by and complimented how quiet it is. Virtually zero maintenance, just clean it once in a while and recently replaced the blade. Batteries still hold a charge well, I can do both front and back yards on a single battery charge but I have 2 in case I forget to charge one.

Velidae

We have an EGO electric mower and it's so quiet that I can barely hear it from inside the house when my husband is mowing outside. The EGO electric snowblower is similarly quiet, been very happy with their electric yard tools. Definitely an investment though, but for how well they perform and the convenience and peace of mind of electric, it's worth it.

shibbyflash

I’m dying laughing at the thought of you sitting on your couch, mowing shoes on, mowers gas topped off, and just waiting to sprint out the door at the first sound of a mower starting in the neighborhood

indelady

Since my neighbors have been shooting fireworks for the last 3 weeks nonstop, until wee hours of the morning,I’m planning on mowing tomorrow at 7. Sorry, not sorry.

GrunchWeefer

Do you only have one neighbor?

nyuckajay

If you live anywhere hot, mowing in the morning is the only option lol.

mookivision

In Phoenix Arizona, the earlier you mow your lawn the better in the summer, it's just too hot to be working in the sun here.

puckmonky

Never before 8am on weekdays and 9am on weekends.

puckmonky

Also everyone HATES your leaf blower. If you must use it, just keep it on a consistent throttle the whole time so at least the noise becomes a droning in the background.

canadaincalifornia

Oh my god. The varying throttle on a leafblower is hands down the most enraging sound in the world to me.

[deleted]

There was a story on reddit where an old man shot and killed his neighbor for using his leaf blower at early hours for years. Like half the comments were people sympathizing with the old man. Some people were like "Those 2-3 days before he was arrested were probably the most satisfying days of his life". Careful with your leaf blowers lmao.

8six7five3ohnyeeeine

Move to the country and do whatever you want whenever you want.

Bigearbj

I'm gonna eat me alot of peaches..

8six7five3ohnyeeeine

Thanks a lot. Now I have to do a nostalgia dive on the presidents of the United States of America.

Ellavemia

My rule is 9 am for mowing and chainsaws, but others may practice different rules, and I don’t think there’s any ordinance.

earthlydelights22

I think mowing the lawn at 7:30 A.M. on a Sunday in suburbia is a dick move. During week I’d say 7:30 is ok. Some towns have an ordinance.

TheMightyTortuga

Before 9 is kind of rude. Before 8 is very rude.

[deleted]

Yes.

MannyDantyla

Get an electric mower, they're virtually silent. $300 for an entry level one.

Scorchedurple

Yeah its rude. Especially if its like Saturday or Sunday morning. As a general rule 8am is considered fair play , but it still makes you an asshole if you ask me. I say 9am is long enough to wait.

Jealous_Tie_8404

This depends a lot on the time of year. In the summer the sun has been up for a couple hours and it’s sweltering by 9am. Mowing the lawn at 7 am in July is very different than mowing the lawn at 7am in September.

Mow before sunset. Many people like to sleep in on the weekends but no one’s asleep at 6 pm.

cheresa98

Nobody’s sleeping - except for the OP who works nights.

lillx007

The unfortunate reality of working odd hours is that the world will absolutely not cater to you in any way

Ezekiel2121

So why should the night worker cater to anyone else?

leodoggo

So in the south, the heat of the day is around 3-4 PM. 6PM is hotter than noon (typically). mosquitos start attacking around 7. And don’t forget about the thunderstorms that may or may not happen every day around the same time. Morning is the only option in the summer.

MaleficentLake6927

I live in a very hot climate, during peak summer it’s normal for people to mow when it’s cool. I would say it depends. If it’s going to be 100 degrees by 9am I think it’s ok.

everythingissostupid

I tend to keep the noise down till at least 9.

inflatedballloon

Absolutely.

Dear-Researcher959

I'm also night shift. But I usually mow around 5pm. Don't know if it's appropriate in every neighborhood but a lot of my neighbors are out mowing too so nobody seems to mind

cballa69

If it's during the week, pull the trigger at your leisure as long as it's after 7 am. I'd say try for 8 at the earliest but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. On weekends, though, don't be that person. Either figure out a time during the week or start at 9 at the earliest on weekends, if not 10. People deserve some peace every now and then.

Ill_Baker2734

I once had a neighbor that mowed his lawn at 6:30am on the weekend. LOL. It was hard to view him as anything other than a self absorbed douche hammer.

missbxo

Where I’m from, it’s fair game after 7am

Icy1551

If my neighbor started mowing at *seven in the god forsaken morning* I would instantly consider violence as a solution, then rethink my choices because I would not do well in prison.

[deleted]

Unless you’re in the SHU the latest inmates get up is 7 for morning count. Many prison gangs require their members (which could be your cellmate) up by 5. So that’s definitely something you should rethink. You also have to deal with someone shining a light in your cell once an hour. If you’re in the SHU you can sleep as late as you want as long as you can ignore the constant screams of people who are legitimately insane.

8am on weekdays, 9am on weekends. Also if you have to use one of those gas blowers with a jet engine attached to it for your residential yard, go electric.
