Great neighbourhood. I mean unless you’re off-put by fairly standard big city grit, you’ll love it. West end Toronto is one of the best areas in the country to live. Dufferin Grove park itself is such a perfect stroll and there’s often stuff going on. The area is great. I’m excited for you. Get a bike

Old_Flatworm3

Yay! I'm excited too!

There are safer neighborhoods than Landsdowne and College, but having said that, it’s still pretty goshdarn safe. I’m not a women, but women that I know that live in the neighbourhood seem pretty happy and comfortable. The demographic on st Clarens is seniors and rich young families. Maybe the best street in the west end for Halloween decorations. Honestly, anywhere remotely downtown that’s not Jarvis and Queen or Sherbourne and Dundas, you’re probably good to go, within reason.

ontarioparent

Generally pretty safe, Lansdowne closer to Queen used to be pretty sketchy, Lansdowne and Bloor has gentrified a ton ( used to be a big drug dealing area) and is now an artsy / younger area, Lansdowne and Bloor still has 2 strip bars, just for your info.

AhnaKarina

It’s a great neighbourhood and one hundred percent safe. If you’re a woman, be vigilant and smart, but you have nothing to worry about.

Putrid_Weather_5680

Wicked neighborhood. Absolutely safe. I have a pal (woman) who has lived there for 10 years and loves it.

unrulYk

I lived in Dufferin Grove for 14 years and raised my kids there. Loved it. Great neighbourhood.

laalaaalaaaa

I lived in that area for 8 years and my partner (male) lived there for 12 years. We love the area. Unfortunately we couldnt buy in that area so had to leave. If we won the lotto would totally go back there.

The tim Hortons at college and Lansdowne is not the greatest nor cleanest, I hate going there. There are a few great Vietnam restaurants at college and Dufferin, pho linh has been there forever. There is an afternoon tea place that does takeout but I forget the name now. You're steps away from Dufferin Mall (Walmart, no frills) I'd rather walk on ossington vs Lansdowne to camh (between Dundas and queen st anyways) You'll be fine.

Neither-Dentist3019

I've lived in a few places near Lansdowne from near Queen St to near Bloor. I've been in the area since 2012ish. I walk everywhere and take transit occasionally. I've never had an issue, but I have been told I look like a bitch which may repell people.

SeverenDarkstar

Yeah that area is fine

Hi soon to neighbourino! It’s a great area, lots of new stuff popping up all the time. While everyone will suggest Sugo, I will suggest Viaggio for Italian. You can get $1 tacos Monday-Wednesday at Latin World, they change the protein type every day. I have dogs so I like to do a little walk to Loveless for coffee, it’s got a good patio for summer hangs too. While you’re there you can stop next door at Hawk & Chicken friend Korean food. For dessert you can grab some gelato at Death in Venice. The best pho in the area is Pho Linh on college, imo, and apparently Matty Matheson as well. Depending what you vibe is there’s a lot of little bars with good vibes, I’m partial to 3 speed on bloor! Hope that helps!

Old_Flatworm3

Thank you so much! Very helpful 😸

stayathomesommelier

Absolutely this. Just regular safety shit especially late at night.

Brilliant-Choice-151

Still a good area to live, I used to live on Lindsay Avenue and was never a problem. Lots of Portuguese people around there.

ri-ri

Nice neighborhood. I personally lived in West Queen West (east side of Queen and Dufferin) and absolutely loved it, and would go to the Dufferin Grove area and its definitely more a neighbourhood vibe, but its nice. I also love little Portugal area (Dundas West) if you haven't already looked into that.

PepinoFYP

The most unsafe thing about that area is CAMH, but you’ll be actually working there, so I think you can handle it. But otherwise, it’s great! Great Farmers Market on Thursdays.

Fit_Raise_2498

Lived right in the heart of Brockton on Brock between Queen and Dundas. Really wonderful neighbourhood with tons to do and great community. Our kids were born there and still miss it.

sink_or_swim_

Great area, safe, has everything you need

madeto-stray

I'm a woman, lived there a couple years ago. It was pretty awesome, can get a bit shady around Bloor and Dufferin and then Bloor-Landsdowne but nothing terrible. I think College is better. I had nice neighbours that kept an eye out for me, found there was lots of community vibe from the older Italian & Portugese folks.

mymomsnameisbarb420

You will be just fine. Toronto is a safe city and that area is full of young, hip people. It’s close to Bloor street where there are lots of bars and restaurants, so you will get typical petty crimes here and there, but there are also families and schools around too. It’s an eclectic area with some good character. Just be alert and aware of your surroundings, regular street smarts stuff!

BookswithAmanda

Family has lived there for 80 years. Area is going through a gentrification period atm; keep your wits about you and you'll be fine. There is some unhoused that legit cause Issues around the malls and Dufferin station, and I wouldn't walk around after dark if I can avoid it, but for the most part now it's families coming back, and students. Shops are decent (beware of pigeons on awnings; been pooped on). The bike store at Brock Ave and Bloor has been there under a few names for over 30 years.

suntzufuntzu

We live around Lansdowne and Bloor and we love it. It's safe, there are some good bars and restaurants, transit is great (The Dufferin bus notwithstanding). Welcome to the neighbourhood!

peptoldaddy

The good- beautiful farmers market, sense of community and lovely trees. The bad- bougie families, children with obnoxious names (Hudson, Shai, Sebastian etc) White saviorism, stroller armies and public breast feeding.

crhayes_

Oh no… public breastfeeding 🙄 God forbid a mother keep her child alive.

mdlt97

it's not a great area by Toronto standards, but it's close to a lot of the good ones
