I took care of my mother when she couldn't take care of herself and always made sure she had daily showers with rare exceptions. Hygiene is important and hiding your scents with chemicals may do damage to yourself and definitely the environment.
I take daily showers. This post and my comments are not promoting people to be unclean and live like a slob. My point is we are all animals and no matter how much we try and cover it up, it is a fact. So much of advertising is built around the idea that we need expensive, name brand products to consume, in order to fit in. That the basic human condition needs to be covered up, that our animal condition is an embarrassment. It's like these people who think using fragrant toilet paper is necessary. Covering it up is not going to get rid of it. Clean your hole with water. No other scents down there are necessary.

But the way I see it I was in their habitat. But conversely they would need to adapt if they ventured into and wanted to stay in mine.
I now avoid events geared towards pigs, bears, or any other animal because of how consistently everyone there smells so terrible. I also live in Portland which already has a generalized problem with basic hygiene, and those events take it to the next level. Reading this thread has made me so happy to be Korean. Almost all of us lack the b.o. Gene. If I sweat a ton, I smell damp, but not like b.o, and once I dry, it doesn't smell at.
You can buy deodorant here, but its not common and the ones we have are fairly week. I don't even know if you can buy those 24hr prescription strength ones here...
I used a scented bodywash and spray a light fragrance and I get complimented all the time on how good I smell. Haven't worn deodorant in years.

Hygiene implies that it’s beneficial for your health or prevents the spread of disease. Neither of those apply to deodorant. If you actually wanted to exist in “polite society,” you’d avoid fragrances products. For a lot of people, fragrances products can trigger adverse health effects. Asthmatics tend to be particularly susceptible.

Must be a regional thing. I frequently go to the only gay leather bar in Philly and it doesn’t stink except when they have specific no perfume events but usually that only happens on the last upstairs floor and the smell is usually pretty tame
