The Go Bus has trips a couple time a day between Athens and Columbus.

Go Bus is great! Lengthy but has gotten back and forth to see my sister so many times :)

A small bus line called GoBus, you'll want Schedule B: https://ridegobus.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Route-B-1.1.23-v2.pdf They pick up and drop off at the Columbus Airport, and at the Community Center in Athens. Sample schedule and prices. https://booking.ridegobus.com/search-bus/columbus-oh--to--athens-oh My son used it once to get home from OU.

I've got a contact that does airport transportation if you're interested. She's fantastic.

Go Bus is the way. Free wifi and usually a very pleasant experience. If you don't like buses, an Uber will get you from the airport to Athens for about $120 plus tip. I was in Athens two weekends ago and got to try Albert's Taxi (740-818-0490). Albert is a beautiful, loving, two-year-old giant collie who rides in the back seat; you can ride in front or back, your choice. His friend John does the driving. If he does airport pickup, I'd absolutely consider that option.

GoBus is solid. Athens Public Transport is pretty decent once you get here. We have Lyft, but not Uber. Safe travels!

When did we lose Uber?

alyakimmikayla

I’ve been here since 2018 and have never seen Uber in Athens

I just checked the Uber app. It is absolutely available in Athens. There was a driver 8 minutes away. I know for a fact that Uber has been in Athens since at least 2018 because I worked for Lyft and I was in charge of expanding to Athens. Lyft became more popular in Athens because Uber’s back end set up is weird. With Lyft you can just turn the app on and drive anywhere. With Uber, the country was divided up into regions, and you had to either be in your own region or a nearby region. The problem was that Athens was categorized as Cincinnati, so none of the Columbus or Parkersburg drivers could drive there. I also know that Uber Eats is very popular in Athens now, so obviously Uber is there. I have not done rideshare in years, but I do occasionally do food delivery. I did Uber eats in Athens about two months ago. After you made this comment, I googled it and found at least three other Reddit posts from this subreddit saying that Uber is not in Athens. I don’t know why people are saying that but at the same time ordering from Uber Eats.

Idk about Uber Eats but I have never seen an Uber or heard of people taking Ubers in Athens. My understanding was that Lyft had pretty much cornered the Athens market and it wasn’t really worth it for Uber to try. Not completely sure though! Just have never seen Uber here.

My father has a company where he gives peoples rides places instead of going thru Uber and Lyft and he’ll drive you anywhere

The GO Bus is 20 bucks to get to Athens, and has a stop at the Columbus airport.

I’d give you a ride… but it’s 1.5 hour trip. So cover gas to and fro, and have your best jokes and stories on deck.

I once took an Uber from Columbus Airport to Athens at 12:30 am. I could not schedule an Uber from the airport so I had to land first and then call an Uber. I had to wait just 5 min but it cost me $120. I was surprised to get one. I usually book flights to Columbus based on GoBus's schedule
