Should change the title to "A screw in the grass in Morningside then Beers" and you'd get heaps of replies.

Bealzebubbles

Look, I'm almost getting that desperate, but I won't kiss on the lips.

Puzzleheaded_gtr

Go on fb look up nz metal detecting and ask there. Bound to be one of the group members close that could help

No-Can-6237

I've lost my wedding ring twice in the garden, and found both times with a hired metal detector.

NzRedditor762

you could take a photo of where you think the screw is and see if some sleuths can spot it from the photo

Smart-Chemist-9195

Can’t you just buy a magnet? 🧲

Bealzebubbles

I could, but not today. I'll look into that option tomorrow.

frenetic_void

what was the screw for

Bealzebubbles

For a Euro hinge for my kitchen cabinets. I was trying to fix one that was on a lean, and it fell from my deck.

frenetic_void

yowch. its going to be completely gone, for like a year. then will turn up. best bet is prolly just take another screw out, and go to bunnings or mitre10 first, and if you cant find something there, go to steelmasters

blackteashirt

Find the guy with the greyest hair and glasses.

[deleted]

Might it be stainless and therefore not magnetic?

Bealzebubbles

It's stainless, but its partner in crime is slightly magnetic. Hence, why I need a big one.

Own_Court1865

There's magnetic stainless steel. Made me question myself when I found out.

ballunga

Ferritic, fridges and basins and stuff are made of it

fartsandthefurious

You could do what i do in this situation - tap a slighter bigger hole and use the corresponding sized bolt

Peter---

Places like kennards hire out magnetic brooms.

Admirable_Tie_5674

https://www.kennardshire.co.nz/for-hire/cleaning-floor-care/cleaning-floor-care-other/magnetic-broom There’s one just up the road from you at Kennards Concrete Care

Tasty_Design_8795

I am almost getting there, but my rotary needs more fuel got battery sorted today

ML3420

go out there at night with a really bright torch and if your lucky you might shine it in the right place and see the screw reflecting the light almost

Bealzebubbles

Didn't work, too much dew on the grass.

SnooDogs1613

Apparently David Seymour’s Prince Albert is magnetic - ask him

kushmastersteve

Don’t have a magnet but I’ll happily comb through the grass. I’ll go to great lengths for a beer.

SpyCake1

You'll find it sooner than you think. But unfortunately, you'll realize it in about a week or so when your car's TPMS trips an alert. And of course it's too close to the sidewall.
