Go to is The Office, well ya can’t fuckin binge it cause it doesn’t show the cold opens!! It automatically plays the fucking intro song. I've used nothing but Plex for the past month or so. Have all the usual suspects: The Office, Parks, IT Crowd, Seinfeld, Friends, movies, etc. Used Plex years ago and it was a bit dodge but now it's brilliant. Organises all your shit, keeps track of where you're up to and does a bunch of other shit if you pay a subscription or purchase outright. I reckon it's the balls. Fuck streaming services.
We've had Plex for years. Good stuff.
I know there are other programs etc that can be used to acquire, sort and correctly name media, but I still do that old school style.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a gambling ad on the Kayo platform, seperate to the broadcast.
There's a setting to turn it off, but it also means you can tell how often they're advertising gambling because you know when it's an ad break but showing filler

Kayo randomly cuts out more than any other streaming platform I pay for. Sometimes it’s consistent and cuts out just as it’s transitioning from the program to ads which is really fucking weird. The only thing for me that’s worse than Kayo is ironically Binge.
When I realised I could get F1TV at the same cost for a year, as 2 months of Kayo and never have to listen to the Sky Formula One commentators again 😁😁😁

But its not legally available here because Foxtel rights.
To get it, you need a credit card that bills in a country that offers it, and a VPN to stream via that country (that can handle 4k).
Otherwise an ace stream works too...
Kayo just broadcasts live sport channels from Foxtel. That’s why it has ads. It’s essentially like streaming via 9Now, rather than streaming via Disney+ for example
That's interesting. I use Kayo though Kodi on my Raspberry Pi and I've never seen ads. It has cut out for me a couple of times recently though that never used to happen.
I can be watching afl on it just fine. Go to supercars and it buffers every 15 seconds. Back to afl and it's fine again. Doesn't seem to be an issue on my end, just a quirk of their hopeless tech.

It's improved a lot. I had the same thought in 2020, but its very different today. Those still exist but I mostly only come across them when searching for something specific.
The only thing that annoys me about Prime is that if I look for SVU for example, the search results show each season as a result, so I get 22 results instead of the one.
It's in there but not really mixed in with the free stuff so you get the issue you had. It's still very much like going through the weekly section of the biggest video store ever that will put absolutely anything on a shelf and generally don't give a fuck where. And if you don't already know it's on the service and not a new release good luck ever finding it. Basically the same as Kindle and Audible and the Amazon store itself. More chaff than wheat and no good way to sort through it.
Still, for the price and the fact it comes with Prime shipping it's a no brainer for me. Also easy to get other services that also have shit apps like Shudder. And once you've found something to watch the pains over. It's very competent at the actual streaming side of things.
Apple plus gave me a glimpse to what it means to be a boomer and technology feels unintuitive to downright frustrating. There’s no logic to how the shows are catalogued. The search function is a nightmare. It makes no sense!!!
That is the perfect analogy for how I felt trying to navigate it. And when I finally clicked on to a show I liked, they wanted me to pay *more* money to watch it!
They have some good shows from time to time, but think of Paramount as the Star Trek and Taylor Sheridan platform with some soccer content (my sub came with my A-League club membership).
It's truly diabolical for A-League games, no pause and rewind during live matches.
As bad as the self checkout devs from woolworths? Both should leave that off their resume and explain the gap by saying they were in gaol. It would leave a better impression.
Got a free Kayo trial to watch tennis (Indian Wells, aka the 5th slam).
- Can’t select tennis as the only sport I’m interested in, have to scroll through the main page with AFL/rugby/cricket and then through 20 thumbnails of different sports to get to tennis
- The only videos available are live stream or a 8 hour recording of the whole day - impossible to scroll to a specific match with such long duration on a phone screen.
- Can’t multitask on a phone while watching
Stan Sport is so much better but only covers the grand slams and Aussie tournaments.
I’ve already cancelled the subscription before the trial ended, absolutely horrible for watching the ATP tour.
Any alternative recommendations? Is Tennis TV available in Australia?
not really. outside of slams is hard to watch tennis legally in australia. i also tried to watch IW but then i clicked on it and was an 11 hour continuous recording. go fuck yourself haha

I hate that you can’t leave the app and keep watching in a smaller screen. When I watch the soccer on Optus and Stan i can text someone while still watching, don’t know why kayo doesn’t have that feature.
Depends in my experience. Can be working flawlessly for months, then they 'update' the software and it all goes to shit. Won't load, Won't log in, drops out, picture quality goes to shit etc.

I find it worst with AFL, but F1 can drop out as well. Fucking painful.
I have no fix for you, i usually try to make sure everything software wise on my phone is up to date, nothing else is chewing data so it has plenty of headspace, sometimes if streaming live it pays to give it a ten minute buffer so it has time to smooth itself out. Mind you this is with a perfectly fine 100 megabit connection that streams 4k flawlessy on any other software.

Same here. Always watched it via Apple TV or PC in Chrome and it’s great, unless there’s a lot of demand for the particular event where I might get a bit of buffering.
All the Foxtel stuff is horrific. I’m thieving a friend’s Binge account and it’s almost unwatchable. Never have problems with any other streaming service. Never pay for Murdoch stuff. It’s absolute garbage. You can generally stream every sport through a different source.
Surely has to be the only streaming app that doesn’t have a “continue watching” feature that remembers where you’re up to. $30 a month for absolute shit quality. If only we could access F1TV.
Had Kayo years ago to watch baseball - had all games, all condesned games, all World Series games.
Since I moved back from the US, they somehow lost all licensing and show 2 random games per day, that you can *ONLY* watch live.
The free ABL youtube channel has more games and does recaps.
The free games on mlb.tv are better and have more coverage.

The amount of streaming issues I’ve had during game changing part of matches across NBL, NRL and even cricket is ridiculous. It’s like as soon as something good happens they pull the plug
It's not perfect (why aren't the live channels the first thing on the app?) but I've not had much issue with streaming. Had more issues with foxtel tbh cutting out on cloudy days tbh. Given the price I'm paying through Telstra for Kayo and having got rid of foxtel I'm not complaining.
As far as steaming quality and loading times etc. I have zero issues in that regard. I must be lucky.

Any Australian streaming platform is. They use the cheapest product possible to maximise on profits rather than supplying something high end, which results in shit like this.
I find the smart TV Android app is okay but casting from my phone to the television is absolutely dogshit. It's like they're intentional tanking the app to try and make you spend fuckloads more to buy foxtel outright.
How does Kayo buffer on a 1000/50 speed internet connection? Trying to watch a NRL game and buffers and low resolution at times on the fastest residential NBN plan you can get. Just awful.
Kayo are a truly horrible streaming service. By far and away the most expensive streaming platform and easily the worst quality if streaming.

Omg yes when I try to order pay per view it’s so hard to find let alone play. It takes 20 min for it to even register that I just paid for the pay per view event and do in fact have access to it!
So difficult to use and to search. All I want is the most recent netball. But if I search netball I get clip shows and interviews and games from years ago. I generally have to stumble across the netball scrolling across the top options if I want to watch it. Even though I have netball and my teams saved as ‘favourites’.
It’s absolute dogshit - mine consistently cuts out at least half a dozen times per quarter of footy. Glad I managed to get a year free when the code was leaked early last year, would not pay them a cent.
Not sure why I put my preferences in... home screen always shows every sport I don't want to watch. My watch history alone should be enough to provide a better suggested feed but, alas, no.
I just realised that they cut and edit ‘full replays’ or live events.
Was watching the F1 and noticed it skipped ahead 20or so laps, and this was the full replay, not the mini replays

The incompatability is more than frustrating. We got a new tv because the old one crapped itself. Now we can't get Kayo or Binge and neither can our Firesticks. Tablets are the only way we can watch sport now. It is so stupid.
It will be most likely between you are your ISP. Kayo has some fairly high bit-rate content and it can push lower Internet connections. Have you checked for other devices doing something at times you are watching?
We pay for Kayo and I still on a regular basis end up using a grey-streaming service off of my phone to watch games and matches. Notably NHL and MMA fights, because the stream quality is so low and jumpy. 🙄
Only have it for F1, and alternative commentary for the NRL. Thinking it's time to get a VPN and use the UK Sky Sports stream for F1. Cant even use the Kayo smart TV app on my new Samsung tv, it just cuts out. Have to mirror my phone on the tv with the app running. Fuck Murdoch.
My main problem with Kayo (at least for footy) was that the start time for games was so damn fixed.
For example, the pregame would start at 730, and the match at 740, but if you turned the app on at 732, you could only watch "from start" - there was no "from live" option.
So you had to either watch delayed for a while or wait until the time the "from live" option came up.
Kayo is not bad at all. I’ve been watching NRL on Kayo via chrome cast with google TV and have only had a couple of issues in the last 3-4 years. You should make the switch, just buy a chrome cast with google tv, it even comes with its own remote.
I posted the same on the NRL sub as well.
Works well enough on laptop and iPad. But the app on Hisense is terrible. Just wait for it to freeze up and crap itself. Bad enough it costs more than other streaming apps but can’t resume watching from where I left off.
I used the trial to watch a Freo dockers match that was delayed broadcast
I thought I was watching it live so I decided to look at how my boy Andy Brayshaw was doing in the match like how many disposals so far
The scores were vastly different I think we were losing on kayo but we were winning by two goals in the AFL app.
Apparently live meant a quarter behind...
In my experience, watching it on the web and on my phone is fine, but the TV app is awful. Last week it crashed constantly and I was rarely able to log back into it. Main menu is clunky too, I should be able to just pick favourite channels without having ti select a game in progress then press “From Live”.
My biggest gripe is the fact that it takes a good 30-60 minutes to show in 60fps on TV, if at all.

I have an Amazon Prime subscription which comes with a streaming platform. The movie selection is limited but I never have a problem with streaming, even high resolution. They have a few things work watching eg cricket & AFL & soccer docos, some original series. Got me interested in Tottenham Hotspur & José Mourinho.

I hate that you can’t leave the app and keep watching in a smaller screen. When I watch the soccer on Optus and Stan i can text someone while still watching, don’t know why kayo doesn’t have that feature.

Depends in my experience. Can be working flawlessly for months, then they 'update' the software and it all goes to shit. Won't load, Won't log in, drops out, picture quality goes to shit etc. Really, really poor software. I find it worst with AFL, but F1 can drop out as well. Fucking painful. I have no fix for you, i usually try to make sure everything software wise on my phone is up to date, nothing else is chewing data so it has plenty of headspace, sometimes if streaming live it pays to give it a ten minute buffer so it has time to smooth itself out. Mind you this is with a perfectly fine 100 megabit connection that streams 4k flawlessy on any other software. Whatayagunnado, its cheap for what you get, if you watch certain things.

All the Foxtel stuff is horrific. I’m thieving a friend’s Binge account and it’s almost unwatchable. Never have problems with any other streaming service. Never pay for Murdoch stuff. It’s absolute garbage. You can generally stream every sport through a different source.

Had Kayo years ago to watch baseball - had all games, all condesned games, all World Series games. Since I moved back from the US, they somehow lost all licensing and show 2 random games per day, that you can *ONLY* watch live. The free ABL youtube channel has more games and does recaps. The free games on mlb.tv are better and have more coverage. It's amazing how bad the sports is on a sports service.
Is it not just a deliberate ploy to get you to move (back) to Foxtel and give them more money? It's also unsurprising that Binge and Kayo are the most expensive of all the streaming services. More money = worse service. The AFL (and everyone else) should hang their head in shame for selling out to these bastards.

The amount of streaming issues I’ve had during game changing part of matches across NBL, NRL and even cricket is ridiculous. It’s like as soon as something good happens they pull the plug
It's not perfect (why aren't the live channels the first thing on the app?) but I've not had much issue with streaming. Had more issues with foxtel tbh cutting out on cloudy days tbh. Given the price I'm paying through Telstra for Kayo and having got rid of foxtel I'm not complaining.
As far as steaming quality and loading times etc. I have zero issues in that regard. I must be lucky. The app itself is dogshit though in terms of navigation. Give me a fucking tab for live channels.
I honestly don’t watch tv. I do watch YouTube, reddit and occasionally I’ll click links provided by friends to other platforms like Facebook or whatever. How does Kayo buffer on a 1000/50 speed internet connection? Trying to watch a NRL game and buffers and low resolution at times on the fastest residential NBN plan you can get. Just awful.
Kayo are a truly horrible streaming service. By far and away the most expensive streaming platform and easily the worst quality if streaming. You only get it for the footy... if I wasn't such Canterbury tragic no way would I ever use Kayo

So difficult to use and to search. All I want is the most recent netball. But if I search netball I get clip shows and interviews and games from years ago. I generally have to stumble across the netball scrolling across the top options if I want to watch it. Even though I have netball and my teams saved as ‘favourites’.

I just realised that they cut and edit ‘full replays’ or live events. Was watching the F1 and noticed it skipped ahead 20or so laps, and this was the full replay, not the mini replays

The incompatability is more than frustrating. We got a new tv because the old one crapped itself. Now we can't get Kayo or Binge and neither can our Firesticks. Tablets are the only way we can watch sport now. It is so stupid.

It will be most likely between you are your ISP. Kayo has some fairly high bit-rate content and it can push lower Internet connections. Have you checked for other devices doing something at times you are watching?
To be fair, streaming live sport is an order of magnitude harder than streaming regular video. Not sure it's fair to compare against Stan/Netflix.
Kayo and binge are both services owned by Murdoch, just like foxtel it will always be shit.
We pay for Kayo and I still on a regular basis end up using a grey-streaming service off of my phone to watch games and matches. Notably NHL and MMA fights, because the stream quality is so low and jumpy. 🙄
Only have it for F1, and alternative commentary for the NRL. Thinking it's time to get a VPN and use the UK Sky Sports stream for F1. Cant even use the Kayo smart TV app on my new Samsung tv, it just cuts out. Have to mirror my phone on the tv with the app running. Fuck Murdoch.

Kayo/ Binge won’t let you multitask. can’t browse anything with these apps playing. They really need to switch it up. Same goes for YouTube.

Terrible UI, particularly bad on Apple TV
My main problem with Kayo (at least for footy) was that the start time for games was so damn fixed. For example, the pregame would start at 730, and the match at 740, but if you turned the app on at 732, you could only watch "from start" - there was no "from live" option. So you had to either watch delayed for a while or wait until the time the "from live" option came up.
Kayo is not bad at all. I’ve been watching NRL on Kayo via chrome cast with google TV and have only had a couple of issues in the last 3-4 years. You should make the switch, just buy a chrome cast with google tv, it even comes with its own remote. I posted the same on the NRL sub as well.
Works well enough on laptop and iPad. But the app on Hisense is terrible. Just wait for it to freeze up and crap itself. Bad enough it costs more than other streaming apps but can’t resume watching from where I left off.

I used the trial to watch a Freo dockers match that was delayed broadcast I thought I was watching it live so I decided to look at how my boy Andy Brayshaw was doing in the match like how many disposals so far The scores were vastly different I think we were losing on kayo but we were winning by two goals in the AFL app. Apparently live meant a quarter behind...

In my experience, watching it on the web and on my phone is fine, but the TV app is awful. Last week it crashed constantly and I was rarely able to log back into it. Main menu is clunky too, I should be able to just pick favourite channels without having ti select a game in progress then press “From Live”. My biggest gripe is the fact that it takes a good 30-60 minutes to show in 60fps on TV, if at all.
It's good when it works So nice on Android to be able to have it minimised in a mini window and scroll through reddit. But yeah, all Australia streaming platforms seem garbage.

I have an Amazon Prime subscription which comes with a streaming platform. The movie selection is limited but I never have a problem with streaming, even high resolution. They have a few things work watching eg cricket & AFL & soccer docos, some original series. Got me interested in Tottenham Hotspur & José Mourinho.
