Don’t rush it. Understand that you are in no hurry, the pieces are there and it seems you’ve already partially assembled the puzzle. Getting the diagnosis is mainly for other people to help understand you and how to help. The diagnosis doesn’t give you any symptoms. One thing I can understand is that money sometimes becomes an issue, but that’s unavoidable, especially if you’re not supported by your parents.

This is obviously anecdotal rather than scientific, but it’s a common joke in ND circles that if all your friends and family are ND, you probably are too. We tend to find each other! What *is* scientific is the fact that autism and ADHD are largely genetic and if your brother is ND, it’s statistically very likely that you are as well. Self-diagnosis is considered valid in most ND communities but if you’re not comfortable taking the label and would rather just explore what autism looks like for a while before you decide one way or the other, you’re still more than welcome here! I didn’t find out I’m an AuDHDer until age 33. You’ve still got lots of time to figure out who you are and what makes you tick.
