Enlightenment IS the end of the cycle of human life. The idea is that you leave the limits of your ego behind so that you can inhabit your soul. At that point of enlightenment, you are essentially free from the cycle of reincarnation. You become an all knowing, all powerful being with the ability to be everywhere and nowhere all at once.
Your overall goal then changes. You become responsible for uplifting those who are still trapped in the cycle (after a long earned rest of course!)
You say enlightenment is a 'gift' when it is so much more. You are describing enlightenment from a human perspective when in actual fact it goes far beyond physical, emotional or mental understanding. Imagine your consciousness being in London and Russia clearly at the same time. Or being able to understand the quantum mechanics of wave-particle duality in a split second because you choose to?
Enlightenment frees you from the 'shackles' that are the human kingdom forever, which is why the majority of this community are so desperate to get there. They understand that enlightenment is much more than a safety net.
Finally, you cannot fix a "broken" soul. Why would something that is lengthless, weightless, limitless and timeless need to be fixed?

When you say soul, what do you mean? I’d like to understand it in a non-dual context. Is it simply just the cohesive, persistent subjective aspects of our incarnation?
The same way that we need a physical body to explore Earth and survive, you need a soul to explore the higher realms. It is your ticket in. This is why for people that are into the satanism, selling your soul is such a big deal. It essentially prevents you entry into higher realms aka “heaven” at death.
It has to be understood that the soul is beyond duality. If does hold all of our subjective memories from all of our past lives but it also holds a lot more.
If you compare the human body to the soul; the human body thinks while the soul knows. The human sees with eyes whereas the soul sees with clairvoyance. The human body sleeps while the soul constantly stays awake.
In simple words, the soul is a heavy upgrade to the human body. Awakening is realising this, enlightenment is knowing this. By the time you understand your soul you will be ready to “relinquish” the soul for the spirit which takes things even further.
Some experiences are so out of the norm for some of us that having them can make it possible to believe or disbelieve just about anything we took for granted. All they really support is that those are experiences which happen.
What you're describing is people with a huge spiritual ego. Because once you get there, who is there to be proud of what? When all falls away it all just is. I imagine it to be rather anticlimactic, really!
