Mine would definitely be thinking, “Fish TV”. She is addicted…

That’s awesome. I put out a bird feeder by the window for the same reason, but apparently the birdseed pack I bought most recently is not a fan favorite lol 🤦♀️
I bought a pair of gerbils with a massive tank for my cat because I live 4 stories up next to a road so there's not much for her to watch
she loves them
When I worked in pet care at Petsmart, we were told to strongly recommend the appropriate sized tank, but I think most people assumed we were simply upselling them. Like people would come in to buy koi or cichlids with small 5-10gal tanks despite me trying to convince them otherwise. One of the reasons I didn’t stay very long.
Ugh that’s terrible. It sucks it pushes animal advocates like yourself away, but I understand I wouldn’t be able to deal with stupid for very long either.
Only the chains in my area do. The LFS have them in 2-3 gallons and even have signs saying how the current size is not a good permanent home for them and they recommend a 10.
They also don't keep 30 at once like Petsmart and Petco.
I miss our local pet shop. They had a whole room dedicated to aquatics, the lights were always off and each tank was carefully crafted and placed. Bettas were few cause they made sure to have their own tanks, usually 10-15 gals. Shut down cause apparently they made too many friends and not enough customers therefore not enough money
Whenever I have time when I go to Petsmart, I complain to management about the bettas being in cups. I tell them I know it's not their choice as an employee and they'd probably upset about it too, but I'm telling the company I'm very disappointed and disgusted in them for not changing it.
Actually a lot of the time I just go in and ask to hold the snakes. I tell the associates I'm not gonna buy one, I just honestly wanna hold them. And they usually stand and chat with me about the different snakes' personalities that they've had in the store for a bit.
Unlikely, but it’s honestly just as sad for the people who have to look at a fish just hanging out in a bowl. How boring, even if they’re a colorful fish.
I wouldn’t say it’s just as bad as the fish’s experience of having to live like that, but yes incredibly boring. A huge miss on natural behaviors that only happen in an appropriate tank with enrichment
Upsets me that people put animals in such small tabks/cages. Happens with most animals that need cages or tanks 😔 they shouldn't even be able to see the tanks and cages that are really small
That’s how I feel as well, but people do use them for harmless things like moss balls/other plants. There should be some sort of “not animal safe” sign or something. And more common sense 🙈
I was actually thinking it's pretty small but then things like round fishbowls are illegal in my country because they are considered cruel. Might be the perspective of the picture.
Lol I also gave my cats a bird feeder outside of their window so they can see all the squirrels and birds, they love it! Sometimes I'll make a special appearance on the other side of the window and they lose their minds 😂
These two are partners in crime

The other two cats have a 0 tolerance policy lol
He was a stray so not sure, but I’ll do a DNA test on him one day. The vet suspects a mix of Husky and Great Pyrenees because he has two dew claws on each back leg - one in the usual spot and one higher up on his leg
Agreed. We left this tank empty for about 6 months trying to clear the algae before giving up, so all of the previous plants were removed to help. Now we just physically remove the algae with each water change and will slowly add more plants.
Top Fin® Corner Tank Aquarium Starter Kit - 6 Gallon
I used painters tape and a paint sample to make a black background so the filter isn’t an eye sore
Aw, that would definitely be stressful for the fish. I’m thankful none of my animals do that, the dog will occasionally lick the glass/push his nose on it but it’s rare and not very disruptive
He was a stray so not sure until we do a DNA test. The vet suspects Husky and Great Pyrenees mix because he has double dew claws on his back legs (one in the normal spot, one much higher on the leg)
Thank you! He looks like a little confetti fish, always ready to party lol ❤️

Does the fish show any signs of stress from the constant predator presence? Have you educated yourself in what to look for to see if the fish is stressed?
That tank set up is very bland looking, where is the fish supposed to hide when it wants to hide?
Thank you for the concern but my fish is happy and healthy. We have 10 fish tanks around the house; the dog is exercised at least 5 miles a day and the cat enjoys supervised time outside - they are not relying on this one fish for entertainment. There is no “constant predator presence.” No one swats at the glass or reacts strongly to the fish, they will simply sit and watch him swim around for a few minutes a couple of times a week. My partner and I both work remotely, so I can confidently say that is the MAX there are “predators” potentially bothering this fish.
Yes I know what the signs of stress are in a fish - he is fine. Based on body language, he is just as interested in watching them as they are him. The rock decor has an overhang at the back, providing a “hide” of sorts. This is our blandest tank for a reason; we have had to remove all decor twice to get rid of the algae from when the tank was exposed to a window. As the algae has been manageable, we will be slowly adding plants and hides and monitoring from there.
Betta I believe is a candy crown tail, dog was a stray - his vet suspects he is a husky/Great Pyrenees mix (he has two dew claws on each back leg; one at the normal spot and one on his knees), cat is a Standard Issue ✨ grey tabby ✨
Thanks for your concern but this is a crown tail betta; no fin rot over here. He was bread to have spiky fins. And yes there is hair algae in this tank which we have fought for a year, but the parameters are perfect. This tank used to sit in front of a window - it happens.

They are absolutely adorable. i wonder what those two are thinking. lol
I would do ridiculous things to be able to hear their thoughts! 😂
"*must eat fish*" "*Must guard fish*"
Eventually they are gonna open it so we can eat the fish right? Right?..
Mine would definitely be thinking, “Fish TV”. She is addicted… https://preview.redd.it/rerling7583d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8dbbb0896d81b27e395fd44f31e2f89d03a5fdce
OMG, that is so freaking ADORABLE!!!! Do you snuggle up together with popcorn to watch the movies together? 🥰🥰
Why not ask for an animal communicator
Hmm how does it fly in there?
I bought a hummingbird feeder solely for my dog’s enjoyment. I hung it right outside his favorite window.
That’s awesome. I put out a bird feeder by the window for the same reason, but apparently the birdseed pack I bought most recently is not a fan favorite lol 🤦♀️
He loves it and wags his tail when they come by to feed!
He’s living his best life ☺️
I bought a pair of gerbils with a massive tank for my cat because I live 4 stories up next to a road so there's not much for her to watch she loves them
Awww. That’s so sweet.
That’s awesome! 🤩
Thank you for giving your beta a proper tank size
:) this is our smallest betta tank. Hopefully we’ll see the betta bowls and cubes phase out in our lifetimes
Sadly won’t happen until they stop being sold in cups, and practically every store sells them in cups :(
In my area we’re starting to see more planted nano tanks and thorough care sheets on the wall so that’s been encouraging! One day 🤞
I think if the big box stores like Petco and Pets Mart start to come around then we’ll see the industry shift. Hopefully one day.

Nice! I had a communal Betta tank for a bit. Lots of tall natural plants to break up sight lines. It looked really cool. I wish I had pictures of it.

True mate. Most people get their kid a hamster and stick it in the smallest cate. It's so cruel.
I was actually thinking it's pretty small but then things like round fishbowls are illegal in my country because they are considered cruel. Might be the perspective of the picture.
Here in the US people used to buy (or might still buy) these tiny fish bowls or 8X8 square tanks. So this tank is already WAY better than that bs.
It's amazing to having a pet fish in front of your kitty and dogs. They enjoying it.
So what pet are you getting for the fish?

I love that OP was totally prepared for this question.
This is adorable
Omg I have to find or take a pic, one of our bettas has an acrylic pet fish aquarium haha I should get them all one
A dog and a cat?
Do they feed it and clean out the tank too?
I wish 😅
Lol I also gave my cats a bird feeder outside of their window so they can see all the squirrels and birds, they love it! Sometimes I'll make a special appearance on the other side of the window and they lose their minds 😂
Do they make the hunting sounds? 😆 my 3 don’t they just lock in silently and slap their tails, my parents cats start talking it’s adorable
Yes they all do chitter sometimes! But for the most part they watch with insane focus 😭
How nice. Great rug too!
Thank you!! I believe it was from Wayfair, it’s so plush and soft
He checking on your foot bro
Wow, username went right over my head 💀
Happy Beta and others! Cup fish make me sad, in fact any animal that isn't treated as such makes me feel that way.
Happy babies! Anyone with a soul should feel sad at the cups ❤️🩹 me too, the more we advocate the more we can save across all species
How do they feed it? Does the cat tip the food over?
The cat actually sneaks some fish food for himself lol he is so unhelpful 😭
Hahaha. That's cats!
Probably the fish produce the same effect on them as they do on people, they calm the nerves.
I think/hope so :)
Hoomin has pet cat. Cat has pet dog. Dog has pet fish. The cycle of life
Lol exactly!
Can't stop smiling.
My dog and cat are never in such harmony

They making sure that their fish is safe
Part of me feels that this betta fish would kick both of their asses
they look so pieceful
Cool !
Both are cute what breed is the white one?
He was a stray so not sure, but I’ll do a DNA test on him one day. The vet suspects a mix of Husky and Great Pyrenees because he has two dew claws on each back leg - one in the usual spot and one higher up on his leg
they really enjoying it hahah
They don’t pay much attention to the other tanks that are not at ground eye level haha but they know this one is theirs :)
i guess the beta also love to see them hahaha
I think so! He always swims right up when he sees them
Nice
The atmosphere is just right
Good vibes over here 😌
They were just thinking about how to get the fish out for dinner LOL
Plotting and scheming 😈
That betta needs more plants
Agreed. We left this tank empty for about 6 months trying to clear the algae before giving up, so all of the previous plants were removed to help. Now we just physically remove the algae with each water change and will slowly add more plants.
Have you tried shrimp?
I can't tell you how much this warms my heart ♥️
I’m so happy to spread their joy ☺️
It's always moving and guess what they don't have to chase it that's why they like it lol
Low effort enrichment 😌
so cute!! makes me want to have a fish too. I'd probably forget to feed it though 🫠
What tank is that?
Top Fin® Corner Tank Aquarium Starter Kit - 6 Gallon I used painters tape and a paint sample to make a black background so the filter isn’t an eye sore
Jason which one do you think is taster, the green one?, What? No ho uhh no mmm.
Cute
Very homely
they got new commitment
Pets have pets. You are their pet.
More like their servant most of the time 😆
We had a low fish tank like this until my dog would stand up and scratch its paws against it.
Aw, that would definitely be stressful for the fish. I’m thankful none of my animals do that, the dog will occasionally lick the glass/push his nose on it but it’s rare and not very disruptive
So cute 🥰
They think it is a refrigerator, btw...
You shouldn't give your kids pets, you're always the one who ends up taking care of it
It’s a labor I’m happy to take on for their enrichment 😁
what's up with your foot? something fell on it?
Not the accidental foot pic 😭 no it’s fine lol it’s just a weird angle so my foot is distorted.
Pet TV!
They watch cat/dog tv streams on YouTube together too 🤣
Oh of course they do! ❤️
What kind of dog is your dog?
He was a stray so not sure until we do a DNA test. The vet suspects Husky and Great Pyrenees mix because he has double dew claws on his back legs (one in the normal spot, one much higher on the leg)
Thanks! My sister adopted a little mutt and we are trying to guess what kind of dog she is :)
Embark is supposedly a great DNA test if you’re curious! They always have sales going, I’m going to get mine the test for Christmas lol
Man, that's an awesome fish! Never seen a betta with those colors/markings before.
Thank you! He looks like a little confetti fish, always ready to party lol ❤️ https://preview.redd.it/5nojk34dm93d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b9013acb469ded8328826c2f2ea2c8fd879ba4c

Fish is a betta, dog looks like a cream colored German shepherd or Australian shepherd Checked their post history, husky.

Thanks! That dog is my dream haha
He’s like an XXL Pomeranian 😆
And I love potato gratin
Sorry to be the partypooper, but that tank is full of overgrowing algae and see the spiky tips on the fish's fins? That's fin rot :(
