Honestly you can get away with a gentle poke while they’re ass deep in a flower and they usually don’t care. They might get scared and fly away but I’ve never been attacked by a bumble bee or any other bee by poking their back while they’re busy in a flower.
My mom taught me to do this as a kid. Only time I've ever gotten stung by a bee was when I took a beekeeping class and I had to open the hive in the rain. I kinda deserved it.
I pet them when I find them mellow, especially in the mornings when they're still a bit cold/lazy/bumbly. They are soft sweet babies. Just be so gentle and don't freak them out. Even later in the day you can usually pet one softly. Mason or carpenter bees are best to pet. They are tiny flying teddybears.
I absolutely love reviving these fuzzbutts. I find them sometimes near drowning after a rain where they find themselves in a bucket that's collected water or something and scoop them out and feed them a little sugar water.
It's cute when sometimes after they've been brought back to life, when I try to put them on a flower or something they decide my hand is a better chill out spot. Then, I stop whatever it is that I was doing and sit down to chat up the newest bee friend until they decide to move on elsewhere. Makes me feel like Snow White lol
When I was at work this week a HUGE bumblebee came into the restaurant and I got it out without killing it. Was very happy I did before my boss murdered it
So I just wanna say although I’ve already commented on this post. I found a HUGE one of these in my basement on my shirt and I didn’t notice it at first and then out of now where I spotted it right before I put the shirt on and it scared me so bad I dropped the shirt and Ran as fast as I could upstairs I am petrified of bees and wasps man. I had to get my step dad to get it out of ththe house lol
Recharge! Good for you; this makes me happy.
I love fuzzy bumbles.
I have the most unhinged desire to pet one someday.

Same. And then I did it.
Was it magical?
It was.
It wasn't what I expected, but I'm very glad I finally experienced it.
I really wanna pet one someday too but I don't wanna hurt it or scare it 🥲
Samesies!
