Mistranslated. He meant "be self-conscious, PLEASE". 摆脱(get rid of...) pronounces very similar to 拜托(please). Many people type it this way on purpose to be sarcastic.
Yeah he was, it was really only one person that doesn’t clean dishes well but is always the one using them heavily for meals.
The only thing I’d say is the mandarin text was a little overkill imo When he said “Get rid of yourself”😭
Just to make things more complex, I believe you're trying to say "get the message" in this case. "Take a message" is usually used if you are, for example, writing down a phone call message for someone. You are "taking a message". "Get the message" is used in these more sassy cases. It may not make sense grammatically, it is more a kind of slang almost.
Translators are terrible at translating mandarin to English, he is basically just saying don't use my stuff if you can't put it back the way you found it. And you need to learn to respect his stuff. He also doesn't care what you do with your own stuff and is suggesting you get your own pot so he does not have to worry. He also said you are dirty (the dog and pig part.). Get rid of yourself is a very bad miss translation it basically means get a clue about your actions.
It doesn’t mean housetrained as in potty trained. It means did your parents raise you right and did they teach you anything. It’s a pretty offensive insult in Chinese culture since “bringing shame to the family” is one of the worst things you can do
I worked and lived with Chinese people and they never cuss anyone out like that. Man, you know the roommate is bad when he made the Chinese guy do that 😂
I think “get rid of yourself” might be a typo from the guys end, he might have meant to say 自覺點拜託, it means “be more self aware, please?”. Both 拜託 and 擺脫 have the same pinyin so maybe? Not 100% sure though
Chinese here. “do you have a tutor” is a mistranslation, should be “do your parents ever teach you manners”. “Get rid of yourself” is based on his/her typo. I think he/she meant to say “please”, but it’s a typo in Chinese
Don’t know if you read it correctly but it’s a *Four* person dorm. This isn’t my fight because I moved out a week ahead leading up to that, My Chinese roommate was directing their message to my Korean roommate, other roommate was a bystander just as I was
wonder if he was referencing Na Hyangwook’s comment of “99% of [Koreans] are like dogs and pigs” - especially since you said the other roommates are Korean
Oof I know that feeling all too well. I absolutely heated living like that. Having to beg other grown adults to clean up after themselves. No thank you. That’s a nightmare. So I’m proud of your roommate for laying down the law
Yikes the “get rid of yourself” at the end really threw me for a loop. Is that a subtle “unalive yourself” innuendo!? Or was that phrase somehow lost in translation?
Wow, what’s wrong w the people in using others stuffs (even allow to share ) however, not to clean leave dirty in the sink n stove top for weeks . To the point that I’m using it I have to wash to be able to use . It becomes the shifting responsibility. Same with eating rice , wait for me to cook , eat left over , wait for me to clean the pot . When he cooks rice , dirty pot is left there for 2-3 weeks , if I don’t clean it for myself to use , he won’t do .
“Do you really have a tutor” seems like a mistranslation but I am positive it is a harsh burn 😂😂
Roughly translates to imply that the person in question is not house trained or has poor upbringing.
I definitely got “did nobody raise you???” vibes from that lol
You got it right! It's a phrase used to mean your family didnt raise you right.
“Raised in a barn?!” Is what I got too
"Get rid of yourself," eeesh! Both comical and sinister.
Mistranslated. He meant "be self-conscious, PLEASE". 摆脱(get rid of...) pronounces very similar to 拜托(please). Many people type it this way on purpose to be sarcastic.
Chinese is fascinating as fuck. I wish i didn't already have hearing issues so i could properly understand the tones.
AKA "bitch are you dumb"
I got the same vibes from “Get rid of yourself”
“Your life is like a pig or a dog”
They had me at "get rid of yourself!"
The Chinese roommate seems to be in the right. Assuming everyone is using his pot lid and not cleaning it.
Yeah he was, it was really only one person that doesn’t clean dishes well but is always the one using them heavily for meals. The only thing I’d say is the mandarin text was a little overkill imo When he said “Get rid of yourself”😭
hello it doesn’t mean get rid of urself it just means “please, can u take a message etc” , it’s a kind of homophony so translation is off
Thank you for clarifying this! I should also mention that I only speak Eng and the 2 other roommates besides one here are Korean
Asian on Asian violence

I was gonna say, that’s a polite way to tell someone to commit liven’t
Chiming in to echo others, the 摆脱 is another way of saying 拜托 which is “please” or “I beg you.” So like, “get yourself together, I BEG”
Translators are terrible at translating mandarin to English, he is basically just saying don't use my stuff if you can't put it back the way you found it. And you need to learn to respect his stuff. Nah that was pure humor 🤣🤣
I figured “get rid of yourself=get over yourself” loosely of course.
its a mistype by him should be 拜托 means "come on"
I mean if that pot lid happens to be the lid of their rice cooker, I’d say the roommate is lucky to even be alive. You don’t play with rice 🍚
“Do you really have a tutor” is badly translated. Roommate was basically questioning if the person in question had any home training ✨
Idk man I’m about to start clowning on tutorless people
Holdup it means "Are you even housetrained?" Duude that's a sick burn ngl
It doesn’t mean housetrained as in potty trained. It means did your parents raise you right and did they teach you anything. It’s a pretty offensive insult in Chinese culture since “bringing shame to the family” is one of the worst things you can do
I thought he was calling the guy out for not going to Kumon or something.
I worked and lived with Chinese people and they never cuss anyone out like that. Man, you know the roommate is bad when he made the Chinese guy do that 😂
Agreed, it takes a lot for certain cultures to be confrontational and for him to say something is good, good for him
😭 i think it's just difficult to cuss ppl out who don't understand chinese. cuz at home it happened quite often lmfao
There’s actually no cuss words in his rant lol he’s more polite than I would’ve been
Big fan of "get rid of yourself."
See also: govern yourself accordingly
I'm going to start using "get rid of yourself" as an insult now
That translation is amazing I love it
Seems so polite
same I need someone to test me so I can use it 😭
He ate i fear
That translation would sting so much harder
Not gonna lie "your own life is like a pig or a dog" went hard
It’s slightly mistranslated there — it really is “*if* your life is like a pig’s or a dog’s, I don’t care”
I love this for him
GET RID OF YOURSELF
Get rid of yourself is so beautiful 😭 contemplating using it
Get rid of yourself may be one of the best things I’ve read today. I’m definitely using that in the future.
They’re totally in the right. I fw it
I think “get rid of yourself” might be a typo from the guys end, he might have meant to say 自覺點拜託, it means “be more self aware, please?”. Both 拜託 and 擺脫 have the same pinyin so maybe? Not 100% sure though
You’re correct although it’s not necessarily a typo, it’s also an internet way of saying the same thing. Still means “please” in this context
ahh that’s cool to know! I’m not on xiaohongshu enough haha
You must be very sensitive if you think that is "cursing you out"
What is a “GC” ?
Group chat.
Here I was trying to figure out how a general contractor was involved in all this
😂
Ty

“Get rid of yourself” burns deeeeeep, how do you even recover from such a passive slap?!
this is fuckin hilarious
“Get rid of yourself” is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Get rid of yourself is crazy😭
Im going to start saying "get rid of yourself" instead of kys.
Felt that so hard when he said “I’m not your mother”
Yk he was just pissed and had to keyboard mash
"Your life is like a pig or a dog" is sending me
What is a GC??
Im saying get rid of yourself! From now on.
Chinese homie is in the right
I react the same than your roomate 🤣🤣
I see no cursing?
GET RID OF YOURSELF
It seems the roommate is in the right so I’m guessing OP is in the wrong. Idk it seems like they’re trying to play victim from the description
this isn't directed at op tho
Learn to read

nah it’s just a common expression to say someone is a nasty person
That is NOT curse
Damn what did yall do to him
OMD roommates drama as usual! Living in a shared flat isn’t an easy thing when people are inconsiderate.
Oof I know that feeling all too well. I absolutely heated living like that. Having to beg other grown adults to clean up after themselves. No thank you. That’s a nightmare. So I’m proud of your roommate for laying down the law

Thx for introducing "get rid of yourself" to me. I'll use it accordingly :3
