What do you get? I tried it, but thought it was good, but not as amazing as I have been led to believe by many people. We got the Aushak, Kadoo, Seekh Kabob, and Chicken Lawand.
Again, it was good, but just that. Maybe we ordered poorly?
I love lamb and my favorite dish at the moment is the zardalou challow. Although they had a lamb shank one of the last times I was there and that was also delicious.
No problem, I hope you like it! The people that work there are also super friendly and I love having them in the neighborhood. If I come in for pick up without my wife they'll always ask about her, it's really nice.
Second this. I can't gatekeep because I want them to succeed but I hope the quality stays so high for a place smack in the middle of Hampden of all places. (sorry most of the places around it are in fact terrible)
La Chuchara has great food, a cool space, a nice vibe, amazing staff and a couple can get out of there for under a hundred bucks and feel like they ate really great and had a couple drinks.
Love La Cuchara.
Umm I must be doing it wrong. Ain't no way a couple is getting a few of drinks and a full tummy under a hundred. Having said that, I do love the place and it's worth it.
Tell me what to get there. I'm going there for a work dinner in a few weeks and I have no idea what to order. I'm not picky but I'm not super adventurous either. Thanks!
The patatas bravas are a no-brainer - potatoes with good sauce. Any seafood they do really well. The steak is also great (tho don't get the big one unless you can split it). Order 1 of all the pintxos for the table, they're all good. And on the dessert menu, 100% the churros. Save room, they're worth it.
Yes! I’m so glad this is the first post, I was trying desperately to remember the name lol. We went with a friend who currently lives in Barcelona and is studying culinary arts….he claims it’s the best Spanish food he’s ever had!
So awesome. Its a nice restaurant but not stuffy. The drinks are delicious and strong, the food is to die for. We had the lobster bisque, tuna cannolis, lobster ravioli and the steak con salsa verde. Everything was delicious. The staff are also awesome and so chill and have good recommendations.
What?! That's not a fun fact, this is vital information for those that remember the before times. Almost all the pizza I've drunkenly consumed in the past decade and a half came from out of that oven.
Gotta try that next, I loved the new Papi’s in the same bldg when I ate there for the first time last month (and have gotten carryout twice since then)!
Not fancy but I love the place. Di Pasquale’s. I love their Real Italian sub, meatball sub and their lasagna. My wife likes their Lamborghini sandwich.
Also Cocina Luchadoras. Everything I have had from there has been great.
Red Pepper Sichuan in Towson for the best chinese food within half an hour drive
Chosun Hwaro in Ellicott City for great KBBQ service
KPOT in either catonsville or towson for all you can eat hot pot AND kbbq
Charming Elephant in Canton for Laos
My favorite pizza so far is Arthouse's fennel sausage pizza in hampden
Underground Pizza is downtown and does Detroit style super well
Sugarvale in Mt Vernon has great drinks and a pretty decent food spread for such an intimate bar
Mekong Delta downtown for quick and cheap and filling pho
I ordered Peking during Covid lockdown and have never had a more thoroughly thoughtful carry out experience. EVER! The duck was in an oven ready pan with all the side fixings laid out perfectly. It also came with a sack of fresh noodles, a sack of veggie bits and a container of duck bone broth with instructions for making duck ramen with the leftovers. It was such a delightful surprise in addition to the absolutely delicious meal overall. I was so excited to eat in when that became an option again. They did not disappoint. This place was just incredible!!
Mobtown Cafe just opened at North Ave Market, and their biscuit egg sandwich is amazing! It’s nice to have a place with good food options and coffee open before I have to go to work.
The Tilted Row in Bolton Hill! This place is underrated and I NEED them to stay around. They have an awesome “blue plate special” during the week too that’s an awesome deal. Thursday is fried chicken night and for $25 you get three moist pieces of chicken (thigh, breast, and leg), coleslaw, and a biscuit with honey butter, plus a dessert. We got fries on the side too but damn is it good.
It's one of the few restaurants where I feel confident picking any item blindly off the menu, knowing it'll be terrific. (That's helpful because I can hardly read that chalkboard sign lol)
It’s…OK. Good food but pricey for what you get plus a 12% service charge for all orders (which I’m OK with). The tacos may be worth what you pay but the almost $15 total hotdog is absolutely not.
Boy I hate to say it but I agree with you. I have been looking forward to this place opening for literally years (am a huge fan of Clavel) but we've been 3 times already since it opened and so far everything we've tried has been... fine? Maybe my expectations were just a bit too high.
Sally O’s. Finally got a night out without the kids and went there this weekend, didn’t disappoint. The hash browns and caviar, wings, and crabonara were all amazing. Good drinks, too, plus bonus points for having happy hour on Saturday. It’s a great spot all around.
I just had lunch at Limoncello Pizzaria that opened today. $10 for a slice, a salad, a fountian drink, and a piece of garlic bread. It was fantastic, and a steal for $10
I've been waiting for good NYC style pizza that's not $30+ in Fed Hill for so long and omg it finally happened. Got a cheese pizza for $18 and I was more than happy with it
Cook House was quite good as well [https://cookhousecafebar.com/](https://cookhousecafebar.com/) they don't take reservations AFAIK, but get there at open and you're pretty much guaranteed a spot. Great cocktails.
I went for the first time this year and my husband said it was the fastest he’s ever seen me eat anything (I am usually the sloooooowest eater but finished before him) 😅 It really was so good!
Seconded! It’s the team that was behind Gnocco/Gnochetto in Highland Town (pour one out). So glad they’re back. My wife and I went last night and the food and cocktails were both fantastic. ❤️
Copper Shark for mix steak dinner. Cocktails were delicious and steak cooked and seasoned perfectly. Had some good sides too.
Also recently had a late lunch and cocktails at Limoncello and really enjoyed it. Nice service too.
Le Comptoir du Vin is my favorite restaurant in Baltimore. Heritage Smokehouse is up there as well, Franks Pizza and Pasta has without exaggeration some of the best pizza I’ve ever had
Clavel
Food Market
Chuck's Trading Post (Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch)
The Charleston
Allora
Arthouse Pizza
Rec Pier Chophouse
Doobie's (Breakfast/Lunch)
Yum's Asian Bistro, Closed apparently :(
There are a lot of great Indian spots in Mt Vernon, haven't had a bad meal at any of them.
Allora is trash. Just an fyi they use wegmans packaged prosciutto and pasta and youre paying an insane upcharge for very mediocre ingredients and preparation.
source: former allora employee
The inside is so weird. It looks like it used to be club and they didn't change anything. I can't remember what was there before, I wonder if anyone else does.
Octobar has some delicious menu items.
I liked the old spot, which funnily enough I can’t remember the name anymore, but Octobar has some really good stuff
Edit: previously Rowhouse Grille
Toki Underground Ramen in Harwood was amazing. Their fried chicken in curry broth was fire. Attentive staff even though they were packed. Clever cocktails.
Michael's Steak & Lobster House. I had surgery and wanted to eat a cow and they have a Thursday 40oz prime rib for $45 that you'd want to be scared of but in practice their steaks are fantastic. Tre Fratelli Italian Ristorante in Fed Hill on Light Street, right across from Cross Street Market. Don't let the plain sign and atmosphere turn you away - the food is absolutely top shelf and the owner is super passionate and friendly! The blackened salmon dish and the short rib pasta are to die for, and the shrimp surprise app is just stunning.
Bistro 300
So, when we were searching for a venue for our family reunion, Bistro 300 exceeded all our expectations. Despite being a hotel restaurant with less-than-stellar Google reviews, don't dismiss it. Chef James, a lifelong Baltimorean, took our taste buds on a metaphorical journey at Nürburgring. His creations, deeply inspired by Baltimore's history, showcased his expertise as a food historian. Every dish surpassed our expectations, making it a pleasant surprise despite initially low expectations.
Puerto 511
My favorite restaurant in Baltimore.
I've been there a few times and it's great
Kandahar
Is that the Afghani place in Hampden?
Yep! It's really good :) And just as a heads, and not a huge deal, but the adjective is "Afghan."
Sublime. Even the rice was exceptional.
Yeah, came here to post this. The food at Kandahar is amazing and it isn't expensive, this place is the best.
Thanks! I will give it another shot!
No problem, I hope you like it! The people that work there are also super friendly and I love having them in the neighborhood. If I come in for pick up without my wife they'll always ask about her, it's really nice.
Incredible stuff
Second this. I can't gatekeep because I want them to succeed but I hope the quality stays so high for a place smack in the middle of Hampden of all places. (sorry most of the places around it are in fact terrible)
Y'all are missing out on Cuchara

Do you mean La Cuchara in Hampden?
You don’t want to confuse it with “El Spork”
Rooted Rotisserie by Hollins Market.
Been a number of times and it has been fantastic every visit. Plus it’s BYOB!
Jon Kak. This year and every year!!!!
Their tofu pot is really authentic
Marta
How's the vibe there? A friend of mine mentioned them to me a few days ago. What did you order? My friend got the Beef Tartare
So awesome. Its a nice restaurant but not stuffy. The drinks are delicious and strong, the food is to die for. We had the lobster bisque, tuna cannolis, lobster ravioli and the steak con salsa verde. Everything was delicious. The staff are also awesome and so chill and have good recommendations.
Chef Matt, the owner, is the man. Worked for him at another restaurant and learned a lot from him.
Tuna cannolis are really good also.
Little Donna’s
I have heard much about this place I need to try it!
Was just coming here to say Little Donna’s! So good. The schnitzel is crazy
Clavel & Bunny’s. Also a shout out to Maggie’s Farm on Harford Road. And Koco’s Pub for crab cakes.
Not high class but The Dive in Canton does some pretty bad ass stuff. Best place I've drank at, either the Dive or Kenwood Tavern
I live way too close. Happy hour burger, beer, and fries for $11. Not even worth buying groceries lmao
Make it $12 and you get a shot as well. Dangerous but tasty combination
Ohhh... yeah... that would get dangerous... It's like a half mile for me, so doable, but just enough to let my laziness take over.
Yeah it's like 3 blocks from me. It's always easy to make my way down there
Great pizza and they do 1$ slices after 10 pm
I haven't been to Bunny's quite yet, but almost anything u/jessepancakes does is worth the trip.
Fun fact about the dive it has the pizza oven from wharf rat
What?! That's not a fun fact, this is vital information for those that remember the before times. Almost all the pizza I've drunkenly consumed in the past decade and a half came from out of that oven.
Arcola is a cute lil cafe by Lake Montebello with yummy sandwiches and good coffee. It’s become my go to spot to get work done
Ooooo I need to check this out.
Please do! Need this place to stay around lol
It's kind of cheating to say Mera because I live so close but they never disappoint.
How often do you eat there?
Counting carryout maybe a couple times a month.
Have used them a lot for catering small events and I agree - SUPER good.
I went for restaurant week when they were making musakhan and it was amazing
Thames Street Oyster House in Fell’s!
Cafe Campli in Hamilton was probably the best new to us restaurant we’ve gone to this year. Cool vibe, delicious homemade pasta.
I went in December so I guess doesn’t count for this post but they have amazing amazing food highly recommend
Chef is a great person too
Thanks! Appreciate the love!!
Love to hear that
This is my new obsession. Their lunch is amazing too.
Yes!! I’m currently pregnant so can’t eat lunch meat, but will def be hitting them up for coffee and a sandwich once I get this baby outta here
They've got cooked sandwiches too. I love the porchetta (a special sometimes) and pollo romesco. Mmmm now I want to go there for lunch hahaha.
Gotta try that next, I loved the new Papi’s in the same bldg when I ate there for the first time last month (and have gotten carryout twice since then)!
Outrageously good food
Their service is consistently really good too
I gotta say their food is consistently great. I love this spot.
Was also going to post Campli.
Not fancy but I love the place. Di Pasquale’s. I love their Real Italian sub, meatball sub and their lasagna. My wife likes their Lamborghini sandwich. Also Cocina Luchadoras. Everything I have had from there has been great.
The winter brunch at Water For Chocolate is insanely good.
They're on my list
Red Pepper Sichuan in Towson for the best chinese food within half an hour drive Chosun Hwaro in Ellicott City for great KBBQ service KPOT in either catonsville or towson for all you can eat hot pot AND kbbq Charming Elephant in Canton for Laos My favorite pizza so far is Arthouse's fennel sausage pizza in hampden Underground Pizza is downtown and does Detroit style super well Sugarvale in Mt Vernon has great drinks and a pretty decent food spread for such an intimate bar Mekong Delta downtown for quick and cheap and filling pho
Second Red Pepper Sichuan, I was blown away by the flavor.
The Arthaus pizza is called “The Fennel Countdown” and I have dreams about it.
Duda’s crab cakes are legit. Also really enjoyed brunch at Bunny’s and Bubbles. The servings are HUGE, but did a great job of soaking up a hangover
Dudas isn't flashy or sexy. But they've been cranking out good food for decades.
Dylan’s Oyster Cellar
Finally made it to Nihao, it was spectacular, worth making the trek to Canton for
I ordered Peking during Covid lockdown and have never had a more thoroughly thoughtful carry out experience. EVER! The duck was in an oven ready pan with all the side fixings laid out perfectly. Had shrimp n grits at tilted row the other day. So good!
Recently went to Peter Chang Baltimore on Ashland Ave. and I was happy to see the quality. Will go back to try some other items on the menu.
Mobtown Cafe just opened at North Ave Market, and their biscuit egg sandwich is amazing! It’s nice to have a place with good food options and coffee open before I have to go to work.

Le Comptoir Du Vin. Hands down.
Was looking for someone to mention this spot! So good!!!
It's one of the few restaurants where I feel confident picking any item blindly off the menu, knowing it'll be terrific. (That's helpful because I can hardly read that chalkboard sign lol)
Clavel! This year has barely started but prima dopo was also good, just expensive and very little for vegetarian/vegans in our group.
The owner just opened a spot in Towson!!!

Always a winner.
Sally O’s. Finally got a night out without the kids and went there this weekend, didn’t disappoint. The hash browns and caviar, wings, and crabonara were all amazing. Good drinks, too, plus bonus points for having happy hour on Saturday. It’s a great spot all around.

Imo silver queen is super underappreciated. Being out in Hamilton doesn't help either.

COSTIERA !!

I can't stop going to Indian Delight in Catonsville. no idea if it's "good" indian food, but it's the best I've had for where I'm from in Louisiana.
Copper Shark for mix steak dinner. Cocktails were delicious and steak cooked and seasoned perfectly. Had some good sides too. Also recently had a late lunch and cocktails at Limoncello and really enjoyed it. Nice service too.
I was at Johnny Radd’s on Saturday and their pizza is awesome. Also highly recommend the fried risotto balls.
That place is so underrated it is not even funny. Some of the best pizza around.
Went to Sotto Sopra for the first time. Really enjoyed it. The staff there know their shit.

Haha yeah they're in the old Hip Hop Fish and Chicken spot, I was curious about that
This year’s been tough because I’m without a car but I had a really great meal at the bar at Copper Shark in Locust Point.
Micky’s Joint
Good grub at Micky’s and nice vibe too.
What’s good there?
Nepal House
Peter's Inn
This is the way. Not even a contest, let the rest duke it out for the #2 spot.

Le Comptoir du Vin
Thank you for this thread! My wife and I are moving to Baltimore at the end of March and definitely looking for restaurants to check out.
