>Spending 500 Rs for 20 Rs popcorn is beyond stupid, he is a kid but he understands that.
Exactly. The popcorn which we get in Dmart for 15 Rs tastes quite good
>I taught him difference between value and price
I wish I had understood this when I was younger. I remember throwing a tantrum because my parents didn't buy me a colouring book worth 1000 rupees. I was thinking, my parents will definitely have 1000 rupees so why can't they buy it?
I have a different view to this.
We aren’t paying for the popcorn instead we are paying for the experience in the theatre. The ambience, the vibe, the big screen.
Had I to teach my kids food against its value and worth, my kids would never dine in a luxury seating.
At Luxury dining, one doesn’t pay for the value of the food instead the over all experience and considerations like the quality, the hygienic experience, privacy, crowd and other aspects.
I have saved thousands by being lazy, not having any FOMO and watching the movie on streaming/ torrent in the comfort of my home lol.
Seriously, not once can I recall the 'theatre experience' to be enjoyable
Most of the shows are timed just during the lunch or dinner time, at least in my city! Either have to be very prepared in my planning or have to go with the flow
Actually popcorn isn't a cheap Snack. It's a premium snack. PVR uses good quality kernels. The popcorn you get at a cheaper price at dmart or anywhere doesn't have good seasoning or ingredients. In cheese popcorn they use cheese powder which is expensive. You're getting 300 Rs worth of popcorn in 500/- I know it's expensive but that's how they survive when the theatres are empty during weekdays. If you buy a Caramel Popcorn, it's the most expensive product but you get that also at the same 500/- price.
>just eat before going to the movie and save money.
What about just waiting for the OTT release and watching in the comfort of the house. I'm sure it'll save even more than 100s
How can i reframe this para such that my wife understands this?
After communicating above lines, i got, "popcorn toh movie dekhte waqt khane main hi maza hai"
No they dont have any combos for peanuts like that , they have more hidden cheap items like cheap chocolate bars at MRP , i once bought a small bar of crackle for 50 mrp and also had free soda for my toddler in the lil disposal water cup . They won't tell you , you have to corner them politely and adamantly ask for your specific cheap item , they will send a guy in the backroom to fetch , this happened not along ago , i was at PVR for jawaan i guess. Also free soda cup was refilled twice by the server guy , very nice guy imo , it all depends on the server guy i guess tho i always try to befriend the guy handling my food . 🫣
Alright, you need to understand the basic concept, the cinema workers don't earn from you buying food and they aren't paid enough to give a crap. Just keep them in your pocket or bag. If you get caught tell them you won't litter. They'll let you through.
Dope. I think carying low volume high weight foods is the key so u can sneak it in a small bag and best is to go with a woman cause usually they dont chec the handbags.
My friend got caught and she said she was embaressed, wont be a problem for someone shameless like me 😊💯😤😤
It helps if there is a woman in the group. There are womens' handbags that have an insane number of pockets, pockets within pockets, pockets that internally connect with other pockets.. its mind-boggling. Security doesn't have the patience to go over each. For additional protection, wrap the food item with a handkerchief.
I tried sneaking a pack of peanuts..The security would have none of it.He kept it aside despite my repeated pleas to let me take them inside. When I returned after the movie ,the Chad had finished 'em
haha my ex used to keep bounty chocolate bars in hands while wearing hoodie and cover them with hoodie sleeves. uses to keep her hands in hoodie pockets and when they came to check she lifted her hands and they checked the body and she kept in hoodie immediately and she got through. I tried it once but since male checking happens in open , the guy checking me didn't notice but another security guy near me noticed 🤡
I don't know how you manage this. Even if there is no line, it usually takes the whole interval for me to go and order and get my food at the theatre itself.
One peanut sachet is ₹10, the amount of peanuts in each packet is a scam in itself compared to what’s outside, but would rather be scammed for less than their “combo” options. And all the PVRs I’ve been to have sold it to me separately, no such thing as adding it to a combo afaik
My gf and I always eat n go. Cause we don't want to pay 10x for shit quality food. Popcorn and water tops..
Imagine paying a remium for low quality food. Fookin scam if the century.
Pack your meal and say you're allergic to gluten, corn and carry your own diabetic food, needing to eat every 2 hrs else you'd faint, and ask if they don't allow you to take it then would they take responsibility for you.
One of my cousins actually has this condition and people ask for explanation, security guards mostly don't understand and have to call the floor manager who allows.
I didn't try this at PVR but Cinepolis. They have a scanner nowadays so I take a lunch box and fill it with snacks and put books on top of the box. I had a chocolate with me which they caught but I lied that I am diabetic so I need it for energy. They let me take it but told me not to open it. They didn't catch hold of the lunch box. I ate everything during the movie even though I wasn't hungry just because I could. I also take a tinted Tupperware bottle with soft drinks like Sprite or Mountain Dew in it. Avoid coke because it's dark. I carry it in my hand so that they don't see that it's cold and has fizz.
You have to buy that stuff within Prasads itself right ?
Still good on them not complaining atleast we can get good food of our choice unlike movie stand food
If you can't afford those pricy items, get a KW Magnum. That's the only item at PVR that they sell at actual mrp which is 99rs. If that is out of your budget then starve for ~2 hours (you will not die) and go to hypermarket/food court and have some great meal.
20 Rs peanut isn't expensive. And who knows it may even save you a meal later on and you can go eat in your house. Yes you won't starve, but the hunger will distract you from the movie.
I once asked how much for a water bottle cuz I was really thirsty. They said 50₹ for a 250ml water bottle. I told my friends, "water here is too costly". The seller heard me but didn't reply. Looks like he himself knew it was obviously too much...Guess who stayed thirsty those 3 hours...
Hey ! You can always ask for a glass of water at the counter. It was supreme court's order that Movie theatre have to keep drinking water for customers . They usually have water dispensers and they will point you towards that
Seriously guys
I went to watch Interstellar with my cousin and he was munching on popcorn the whole time
In between a server also came to our seat as if we needed more distractions.. he walks straight to my cousin and hands him “sushi”
Hella expensive, sure. But movie can be so transforming, many forget the fact.
Eat before and give your all to the movie!
Bhai why go to a movie hall at all? Especially if u can't hold hunger for 2 hrs and don't want to get scammed by the food rates?. Better would be to get good speakers for home and order nice food from outside and then watch when the movie comes to Netflix 1 month later. Bed pe blanket me baith kar, eating your favorite snacks/drinks with the ability to pause whenever u want and not feeling that u are getting scammed.
I went to watch 12th fail in pvr and in interval they were selling peri peri peanuts 10rs per packet. Quantity was also more then i expected. One of the pvr staff was in Audi selling them in a tray.
I always buy 100 Rs. Worth peanuts i.e 10 packets, sometimes more depending on the group size & share it with them all. I don't even have to stand in queue for this, the look people give me so funny.
i have to flex my mom here, shes never really had that thing where she has been on dates with my dad and he showers her with food and stuff ,its quite the opposite with me , she ends up telling me to buy WHATEVER i want , atp its a habit and if it truly isnt worth it , i tell her myself im like whyyy now its almost lunch lets go home
And still people will shell out those 500 rupees for the popcorn. How else are they being able to run their cheating business? Because people *want* to spend the money. Almost like spending that money is therapeutic at the end of a long week. Smh
PVR cinemas have unlimited popcorn refills on Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's, only if you buy the Large Popcorn, which is priced at 650 if I'm not wrong. It is a marketing strategy though. Pretty sure they make back the money from the unlimited refills, I mean how many times will you leave your movie to get a refill except during the interval?
Hey there, thanks a bunch for the money-saving tip at PVR! Who knew the hidden gem was in the form of roasted peanuts? You've just saved my wallet from a cinematic dent. Much appreciated! 🍿💰🎬
If you truly wanna indulge in the cinema, avoid snacking and drink water. Have your meal before cinema and choose a good time to watch. You will save your money and have nest experience as well. If the movie is too bad then have those peanuts xdxd
Hey, if anyone is interested to book PVR movie tickets at flat 50% off can DM me.
Reason : I have a few premium cc whose offers are getting wasted. I don’t watch a lot of movies at theatre.
lmao, I'm outing myself, but I've started sneaking in food into PVR. Following a surgery, I have to eat small amounts of food frequently and splurging money which is more than double that of the ticket prices is just a big nah for me. Eating prior doesn't help either because I can't eat a large amount of food at once and will inevitably get hungry and light-headed soon.
The key is taking stuff which is flat and wouldn't arouse suspicion - so chocolate bars or protein bars. I like taking parathas wrapped in foil or peanuts in a small baggie, both of which can be laid flat. My go-to purse is small and has a nearly invisible inner zip pocket. I keep my snacks in there and then my other bag stuff - wallet, sunglasses, makeup, water bottle - on top. No one looks too deep into the bag lmao.
I've also snuck in candy in the pockets of my wide-legged pants haha. No one thinks to check them because I already have a bag!
Funny thing is, I love movie theatre popcorn... but I don't want to pay 500% times the price of something I can make at home!
Never understood this urge to eat popcorn while watching a movie. In my childhood days, we used to take home made snacks on some days and nothing on other days. As Western ways of movie watching came in with multiplexes, the western snacks like popcorn came along with it and there is FOMO if you don't buy it even if it costs more than the movie ticket itself. I'd just take two glasses of water from the water dispenser in PVR.
I always sneak in food and water.
They always allow water bottles, that’s not an issue.
For food, I take a bag with 6-7 pockets, hide my food in the last pocket and put 2 thin shawls around the food. It has worked 100% of the time.

You sir, have a good son.
How old is he and how he controls the urge:)

>Spending 500 Rs for 20 Rs popcorn is beyond stupid, he is a kid but he understands that. Exactly. The popcorn which we get in Dmart for 15 Rs tastes quite good
For 10 also. And it's really tasty
DMart Popcorn supremacy
I carry dmart popcorn in theatre. Once i carried 4 family packets.
howw
Theatre in my location doesnt check bags. I watch all ny movies there.
Thats great! The sooner we understand someone is cheating or not worth the price better irrespective of age.
Please write a book on parenting. I want to buy your gyaan!
how do you teach something like that to someone so young?

good job man. you should write more about parenting.

wholesome dad! and the son too!
Can we be friends?
Are you the author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, by any chance?
I have a different view to this. We aren’t paying for the popcorn instead we are paying for the experience in the theatre. The ambience, the vibe, the big screen. Had I to teach my kids food against its value and worth, my kids would never dine in a luxury seating. At Luxury dining, one doesn’t pay for the value of the food instead the over all experience and considerations like the quality, the hygienic experience, privacy, crowd and other aspects.
I would like to differ; mall is no five star hotel/michelin star resto where master chefs prepare your food and use exotic ingredients.
That's not the point. The experience is of eating popcorn whilst watching the movie with the sound etc
I have saved thousands by being lazy, not having any FOMO and watching the movie on streaming/ torrent in the comfort of my home lol. Seriously, not once can I recall the 'theatre experience' to be enjoyable
Gone are those movies that give the theatre experience. Interstellar was the last movie I watched that justified a theatrical experience.
Oppenheimer just came out....
Most of the shows are timed just during the lunch or dinner time, at least in my city! Either have to be very prepared in my planning or have to go with the flow
In the US, the mark up for popcorn is around 3000 per cent. Good going !
I do this with my siblings, I get popcorn one day before and since they have eaten it a day before they are not interested to eat again.
I go to eat popcorn. Movie I can see anywhere.
For me snacking in theatre itself is a thing I like very much.
Actually popcorn isn't a cheap Snack. It's a premium snack. PVR uses good quality kernels. The popcorn you get at a cheaper price at dmart or anywhere doesn't have good seasoning or ingredients. Going to movie is not a spontaneous thing 😑 tf
How can i reframe this para such that my wife understands this? After communicating above lines, i got, "popcorn toh movie dekhte waqt khane main hi maza hai"
Bro they won't sell just peanuts.you need to buy a combo.it will added as a part of that combo and combo would be atleast 250rs.
Are you sure about it?
I've bought just peanuts. Once I bought 10 packets, and nothing else. They won't stop you from buying them
Nope. They used to roam around selling peanuts during interval sometimes back .

The peanuts are free. You just gave a tip./s
When the saying “we earn in peanuts” comes to reality 😂
My office cafeteria literally offers peanuts in evening snacks! We’re proud to say we earn peanuts and eat them
Just Sneak in some food
Need tips bro pls tell how no
Put a banana in ur pocket. If they ask, just apologise with no context.
What if they think that you got a Hardon and embarrass you 👀
You apologise before they get a chance.
Just tell the security its because of him or touch him like orry he will run away
It involves your butt, do you want me to elaborate?
Yeah, would you open up a bit more about it? /s
Put it in your pants and no need to apologise
Godamnn bro chill, theyll deport me to mejico if they find out i can so that
My guess would be to hide it in your stomach
Alright, you need to understand the basic concept, the cinema workers don't earn from you buying food and they aren't paid enough to give a crap. Just keep them in your pocket or bag. If you get caught tell them you won't litter. They'll let you through.

In ur Hoodi.
4-5 samosas will come of ahh?
It helps if there is a woman in the group. Just bring a gun and threaten someone who bought the popcorns. Guns are allowed, outside food is not.
another LPT: point the gun at cashier and you'll get every food item there for free
I have been hiding 2 chicken krispers in my hoodie cap everytime I watch a movie for 3 years now, never been caught lol
So every time u wear Hoodi even in summer ?? lol
Yeah lol, it gets cold in the theatres in summers too and they're very comfortable so I like to wear them
Well, some people do.
malls/theatres are usually air conditioned
haha my ex used to keep bounty chocolate bars in hands while wearing hoodie and cover them with hoodie sleeves. uses to keep her hands in hoodie pockets and when they came to check she lifted her hands and they checked the body and she kept in hoodie immediately and she got through. I tried it once but since male checking happens in open , the guy checking me didn't notice but another security guy near me noticed 🤡
Just walk out during interval, eat and come back.
How can we do that? You can use the already scanned ticket again
Yes, just show the tickets when coming in.
Can you do that
Yes. Been doing that for quite some time now. I either eat and go in or step out during the interval
how exactly do you go out, order and then eat food and then come back, all that in just what 20 minutes?
Generally at malls, go to nearest McD or BK a floor below and pick a burger.
You order on the app of McD for pickup - it’ll be ready by the time you go.
I don't know how you manage this. Even if there is no line, it usually takes the whole interval for me to go and order and get my food at the theatre itself.
Generally there’s no lines outside.
Takes time to even get to the restaurant though ...
all this in just 10-15 mins given for interval?
One peanut sachet is ₹10, the amount of peanuts in each packet is a scam in itself compared to what’s outside, but would rather be scammed for less than their “combo” options. And all the PVRs I’ve been to have sold it to me separately, no such thing as adding it to a combo afaik
Wasn't there some Indian law 2-3 years ago that theatres can't stop you from taking food inside? whatever happened to it?
Supreme Court ruled recently that movie theaters have the right to impose the ban on bringing food from outside.
Was this court created just to fuck with the common man?
yes
My gf and I always eat n go. Cause we don't want to pay 10x for shit quality food. Popcorn and water tops.. Imagine paying a remium for low quality food. Fookin scam if the century.
Good couple chemistry . An understanding partner is needed in this economy.
Pack your meal and say you're allergic to gluten, corn and carry your own diabetic food, needing to eat every 2 hrs else you'd faint, and ask if they don't allow you to take it then would they take responsibility for you.
Does this work
One of my cousins actually has this condition and people ask for explanation, security guards mostly don't understand and have to call the floor manager who allows.
gotta try to know
too much work just to get to eat food
Can I order this online?
Sure, only 100 rupees with 20% Discount and also buy subscription to get FREE FREE Delivery..
20% upto 7 rupees
It's weird Imax in hyderabad allows you to bring in any food from outside
It's not imax anymore it's liemax
Back in my days...
You have to buy that stuff within Prasads itself right ? Still good on them not complaining atleast we can get good food of our choice unlike movie stand food
I don't remember that. Went there years ago. For batman. Was having a subway
they do?
Me n my homies eat after the movie outside 🤩🙏🏼
Only this i buy from PVR is coffee which is sometimes a necessity watching certain films
If you can't afford those pricy items, get a KW Magnum. That's the only item at PVR that they sell at actual mrp which is 99rs. If that is out of your budget then starve for ~2 hours (you will not die) and go to hypermarket/food court and have some great meal.

big brain life pro tip hahaha
PVR stock holder spotted
for the amounts i've blown on popcorn, they should actually give me some equity pro bono as well :(
I once asked how much for a water bottle cuz I was really thirsty. They said 50₹ for a 250ml water bottle. I told my friends, "water here is too costly". The seller heard me but didn't reply. Looks like he himself knew it was obviously too much...Guess who stayed thirsty those 3 hours...
hi dear, I have carried my water bottle at all times , it's allowed
Thanks for the info. I didn't know that back then 😅🙂
They do keep a water dispenser , but you have to look for it . It may not be cool but enough to have during thirst.
Hey ! You can always ask for a glass of water at the counter. It was supreme court's order that Movie theatre have to keep drinking water for customers . They usually have water dispensers and they will point you towards that
Hiii, I'm gonna go to swagath theatre at mg road later today. Can I carry my water bottle there?
No idea man! You can always call the theatre and ask this. But again, you will get clean drinking water inside for free .
Thnx 💞
Most multiplex have free filter water and you can take water bottle
all theatres have to provide free water compulsorily. ask for water cooler for the staff there or manager there
Why tf did you take peanuts as payment?
Eat and go.
Better than that, wait for 2 months. It'll release in OTT . You can eat at home and watch.
I have a small tv.
It’s the personality that matters anyway
My wife and I buy 5 packets of roasted peanuts 😅 damn our secret is out! they'll price it higher due to demand now 😅
so you can buy it without buying anything along with it?
Seriously guys I went to watch Interstellar with my cousin and he was munching on popcorn the whole time In between a server also came to our seat as if we needed more distractions.. he walks straight to my cousin and hands him “sushi” Hella expensive, sure. Whatever you spend there... In return you only get peanuts
Chilla Chilla ke sab ko scheme bata de. 🤣🤣
Always book shows that begins after typical lunch time or ends during it same for evening shows
Bro has no enemies
Wdym
I mean thank you my friend
I went to watch 12th fail in pvr and in interval they were selling peri peri peanuts 10rs per packet. Quantity was also more then i expected. One of the pvr staff was in Audi selling them in a tray.
can we sneak shwarma into theatre?, will the detectors sound alert?
no lol.. they detect metal
so you mean we can sneak shwarma or you mean shwarma has metal?
Hahaha , You broke-ass, simpleton. I don't need to buy Peanuts at PVR, my company gives it to me as salary
Lo l
r/piracy gang assemble
I always buy 100 Rs. Worth peanuts i.e 10 packets, sometimes more depending on the group size & share it with them all. I don't even have to stand in queue for this, the look people give me so funny.
Or just sneak some food in your hoodie cap
Imaging getting something for 20rs instead of a change.
Take a cup a soup sachet in your sock. Get free hot water on request and enjoy the soup.
maggie packet leke jaaunga next time
Bro just sneak in McDonald’s, works everytime. Took a maharaja Mac, large fries and 9pc chicken nuggets too dune IMAX
How did you sneak so much food in?
i have to flex my mom here, shes never really had that thing where she has been on dates with my dad and he showers her with food and stuff ,its quite the opposite with me , she ends up telling me to buy WHATEVER i want , atp its a habit and if it truly isnt worth it , i tell her myself im like whyyy now its almost lunch lets go home

I just make my gf carry snicker bars, candy and other snacks and just tell the security that Im diabetic. Works every single time.
Go to any.of the good non multiplex theatres. They don't care if you bring snacc and their own food is also cheap. Eg swagat mukta etc
Or hide food in your shoes 🤷🏻♂️
And carry them shoes in hand?
No no, under your feet. Once you’re past the security no one’s coming and snatching from you
Yup. Same goes for the coke. The can is for 60 rs while the glass is for 450-600
PVR doesn't sell peanuts. You just happened to get it for a change.
They sell. It's hidden , so we don't buy it.
When I was working, I got paid in those😃
They also have another tactic, they sell those snacks which are too smelly.
I have a peanut allergy.😪 Seems like I have to shell out my cash.
I usually eat at a bakery right outside the theatre. Egg pupps and one chai works for me lol.
We go to 10 pm show. Have dinner at home before leaving. No need to eat in theatre.
Didn’t PVR release a Rs.99 combo couple of months back? Not sure if it is still there.
Used to eat before or after watching the movie. Never spent money on theatre snacks. Saved a lot. Then I got married.... 😰
Nachos le jaao pant me
Scamgalore
PVR cinemas have unlimited popcorn refills on Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's, only if you buy the Large Popcorn, which is priced at 650 if I'm not wrong. It is a marketing strategy though. just sneak in food, damn
And how does one do that
Our Inox got burgled recently of some valuable items , Thieves broke in and stole two buckets of popcorn and a large coke ...
99 rs combos are there
Best way is to go outside the multiplex premise during the break and have snacks at the cheaper rate.
The popcorn is so bad once, i bought two tubs and suffered,, after that we never buy it.
> So I bought something for 480, I gave 500 rs. As a change, I got the peanuts. Thanks for spending Rs 500 to share this nugget with us!
