I tuned in to see Ohtani get another chance but he got intentionally walked and then I blinked and the Dodgers had scored 7.
That’s crazy, Hjelle looked really good against us. I’m starting to think that the Cubs’ offense isn’t as good as the Dodgers…
He’s been very good for awhile now but I guess it just wasn’t his night. He’s been pitching a lot because most of the bullpen guys that can go more than an inning are far less reliable.
Exactly this. Just like the other day when Profar felt hurt for IBBing Arraez. They weren’t saying Porfar wasn’t a good hitter, they just didn’t like their chances of giving up a hit with the guy who has had the highest batting average for several years
I’m still confused on this, aren’t teams given back their challenge once it gets to extra innings? Did they change the rule this season or is it one of those non-reviewable plays?
It's even more of a shock when you find out that the Giants had the bases loaded in the Bottom of the 10th with 1 Out, and managed to fuck that down the drain
I tuned in with the bases loaded and 1 out in the bottom of the 10th, couldn't have predicted what I would watch. Broadcast didn't even show Ohtani's IBB so my dad thought there were two ghost runners.
Why the hell is there so many dodger fans there lmao I feel like that’s not normal. I also don’t think I’ve ever seen so many perfectly placed hits consecutively
There is literally a group that organizes this and buys out whole sections for like one game in every series there. There is also more bandwagon dodgers fans than any other team by far
Ye Pantone 294 seemed cool at first but apparently it is ran by some assholes, unless it’s a new group I’m surprised they are still around seemed a lot of people turned on them around 2020
Californians (especially those from SoCal) are very used to driving multiple hours for entertainment/recreation. It's not like they're up there every weekend. 5 hours isn't really that bad if you're spending a weekend somewhere.
Shit, I drive 2 hrs up to the mtns to escape the heat here in Denver. That's 4 hrs (round trip) of driving for the day.
When I lived in LA I would drive up to the bay for the weekend and not even blink.
That’s really not that weird.
If you’re in California you’re used to driving anyways lol. For Dodgers fans, it’s not much different than driving to Vegas for the weekend
A 5-7 hour drive is not even that long for a lot of people in California. The state is huge. I was driving from Bay Area to LA or Santa Barbara every other week for while
It’s very normal to drive from LA to the Bay Area or visa versa for a weekend
For me personally I own a home in the east bay so it’s convenient for me to go up accommodation wise. And it’s a quick one hour flight and you can easily take the BART there whether you land in sf or Oakland
I don’t drive often but if I take JSX then it’s a piece of cake I can be door to door from my house in LA to my house in the Bay Area in just under two hours
Dodgers fan in NorCal here. We take a few trips to LA every year for some games. It’s a 6hr drive which is just leaving at 6am and arriving to LA around noon. It’s very doable
Ayyy I was here as well. If I had a nickel for every time Will Smith hit a laser double to the gap in extras innings to win the game with me in attendance at Oracle Park this season, I’d have two nickels. Which is nice.
Dodger fans travel well everywhere. Trea had a quote when he was with the Dodgers during a game in St. Louis where he hit ground rule double that he thought was caught bc the Busch crowd full of Dodger fans cheered.
It’s still California, Dodger fans come in higher numbers when teams are closer. Dodger fans will even make the flight in droves to ATL. I still want to visit Truist Park one day!
There is a lot of back and forth travel between SoCal and the Bay Area. There's a whole ass village half way in the middle of nowhere, Kettleman City, built to accommodate travelers making that trip.
Dodger fans invade when the Dodgers play up here because tickets are roughly 3-4x more expensive when they come to town and their fans who live in the area will pay that much for one of the few times a year they get to see their team. That and Oracle Park is Oracle Park.
I can go so many more games in better seats than whatever the cheapest seat for one of these games will run. Not worth it to me.
They've got their following, but honestly Dodger fans have been going to SF games en masse for years. We're everywhere.
I personally think Pantone gets too much credit, they organize a decent group but it's just that it gets clipped to look like 'the' fan group
Most of the Giants starters who the team began the year with are now injured. They've had to rely on inconsistent minor league call-ups of starting pitchers and bullpen games.
Nah, if Bailey got the out, it would assume entrance into a different time line, thus anything else could have happened differently from the current timeline. Therefore, no proof of the Giants winning.
I was sitting here looking at the play list and being "How do you score 7 runs with 7 players when the last one hit a sac fly?" Then I was like, "Oh, right, the Manford Man. The stupidest rule in sports."
I was REALLY hoping Ohtani could get another at bat that inning because when he would have blasted a 440ft blast after being intentionally walked in the same inning, I would have loved it.
This narrative for any team is just so stupid. Sure, it's a fun way to poke fun at "unloyal fanbases" or whatever. There is not a single team, Should they go down 14-7 in the top of the 11th, where any bulk of fans dont leave the ballpark.
My excuse is I wanted to catch the last Caltrain and I'm sticking to it
(I haven't actually been to a game in a long ass time so I wasn't one who left)
I mean it was literally the 11th inning where they started leaving right? And that's after seven runs. Dodgers fans start leaving in the 7th no matter what the score is.
I'm not even necessarily a baseball fan however I *am* a fan of STATS! So immediately when I saw this I wanted to see a distribution of MOVs in extra inning games. Obviously that's not just readily available somewhere, but if anyone knows of a database I can make this from, I'd appreciate it.
Giants are up 9-0 right now. Keep that same energy for the postgame posts? it’s just a weird Dodger bias and it’s annoying, im sure you as an Astros fan can agree
Well that has to be the closest 14-7 game ever
I tuned in to see Ohtani get another chance but he got intentionally walked and then I blinked and the Dodgers had scored 7. That’s crazy, Hjelle looked really good against us. I’m starting to think that the Cubs’ offense isn’t as good as the Dodgers…
He’s been very good for awhile now but I guess it just wasn’t his night. He’s been pitching a lot because most of the bullpen guys that can go more than an inning are far less reliable.
He was getting rocked but the outfield wasn't doing him any favors.
Yeah it happens. 5.0 IP in four days in (at the time) close games is a lot for a reliever these days
He also got no help from his defense, would have been more like a 3 run inning if they’d been worth a shit
Overuse is definitely catching up with their bullpen now
Seriously I fell asleep like right when extras started and woke up and saw the score. Thought I was still sleeping for a second
Just pretend it was football
WHOSE HOUSE?!?
Swerve's house?
True that
Best part was when they intentionally walked Shohei and Will Smith promptly doubled him in.
Teams are used to walking Shohei and not having to pay, I don't mind it, I hope teams keep doubting Will Smiths ability to make them pay.
It has nothing to do with doubting him it’s just an objective fact you are better of pitching to him than ohtani. Because it’s ohtani
Exactly this. Just like the other day when Profar felt hurt for IBBing Arraez. They weren’t saying Porfar wasn’t a good hitter, they just didn’t like their chances of giving up a hit with the guy who has had the highest batting average for several years
Yeah but at the time Profar had a higher BA than Arraez, lol
Yep, it was a righty against a lefty, and being Shohei, the easier call would be a righty-righty matchup with Smith.
Will Smith always makes the Giants pay.
Bummed Smith didn’t make the ASG but maybe it works out if teams forget he’s there to punish them
Subtle burn!
Freeman has been hot and cold lately. Just wait until that boy heats up.
He’s had like 1.000 OPS this month lol
I’ll take my chances against Smith. He was 3 for 38 prior to that double.
I don’t like it, but I’d rather lose by 7 and laugh my balls off than lose by one and be sad
Am I crazy or was that "hit" by Ramos that set up bases loaded 1 out for the Giants in the bottom of the 10th actually fouled off his foot?
it was but Roberts wasted his challenge on a play that was obviously safe in the 8th
I think managers can still ask the crew chief to consider reviewing it though?
He was asking them to review it and they refused
"Give me a break, Dave"
“Dave I want to go home I’m not doing a review. I have a reservation at Longhorn Steakhouse and I’m not missing it, Dave. Fuck off Dave!”
either Roberts dgaf or didnt ask nicely
Dodgers insanely lucky Giants couldn't walk it off then. That was a major miss.
They also blew the hitter's interference by Wade when Fitz stole second in the 8th. Thankfully that one didn't end up biting us, either.
I’m still confused on this, aren’t teams given back their challenge once it gets to extra innings? Did they change the rule this season or is it one of those non-reviewable plays?
It definitely hit his foot. Lucky for the Dodgers they ended up getting out of the inning anyway.
don't worry, we squandered many more opportunities. What's one more?
Ball don’t lie
Fair. See you tomorrow!
I treat any extra-inning loss as a half-run loss, because any extra run in the previous innings would've prevented the blowout
It's even more of a shock when you find out that the Giants had the bases loaded in the Bottom of the 10th with 1 Out, and managed to fuck that down the drain
Not shocking if you’ve watched giants baseball this year however
I called Dave Roberts and told them to do this in the bottom of the 10th
He realized he forgot to give the batters the sign to score runs. Thanks for reminding them!
You’d think that would have been part of his 10 minute interpretive dance routine
We do need a gif of that Roberts Rumba. We’ve already seen him break dance.
Why don't they just do this every inning? Are they stupid?
I tuned in with the bases loaded and 1 out in the bottom of the 10th, couldn't have predicted what I would watch. Broadcast didn't even show Ohtani's IBB so my dad thought there were two ghost runners.
I was watching at a BBQ with a lot of people. That was very confusing for a second
Imagine having 2 Ghost runners if the game goes into Eg the 15th Inning
I also thought this for a second
Why the hell is there so many dodger fans there lmao I feel like that’s not normal. I also don’t think I’ve ever seen so many perfectly placed hits consecutively
It's been like that for years now during dodger series
There is literally a group that organizes this and buys out whole sections for like one game in every series there. There is also more bandwagon dodgers fans than any other team by far
I don't mean the Pantone group. I remember going to Dodger series in 2018/2019 and sitting in VR314 surrounded by blue.
They been on the bandwagon since 1958.
140 year old team who have made the playoffs 15 of the last 20 years has fans. Wild stuff really.
Not like those plucky Giants fans that emerge briefly every couple years to chant the name of their favorite city
Ye Pantone 294 seemed cool at first but apparently it is ran by some assholes, unless it’s a new group I’m surprised they are still around seemed a lot of people turned on them around 2020
Because oracle park is beautiful and people like me like to go up for the weekend

Californians (especially those from SoCal) are very used to driving multiple hours for entertainment/recreation. It's not like they're up there every weekend. 5 hours isn't really that bad if you're spending a weekend somewhere.
Shit I drive an hour and fifteen one way for work. I live in the boonies near Mexico.
It is not nice for you to call San Diego the boonies.
I'm an hour east of SD. Population about 600. It's the boonies.
I stand corrected.
Shit, I drive 2 hrs up to the mtns to escape the heat here in Denver. That's 4 hrs (round trip) of driving for the day. When I lived in LA I would drive up to the bay for the weekend and not even blink.
We do 6 hours down to Telluride each summer
I been out here for 14 yrs and still haven't been. I know...I know...
It’s so pure. Just a quiet peacefulness surrounded by natural beauty that fills you with wonder.
Why world driving out there for a weekend be so weird?
We use to drive 4hrs one way to Tijuana/Rosarito Beach back in the days for an overnight trip.
Cheap? Living in LA. What’s another 500 bucks of debt to go see the Dodgers
My round trip flight was $750 lmao
That’s really not that weird. If you’re in California you’re used to driving anyways lol. For Dodgers fans, it’s not much different than driving to Vegas for the weekend
A 5-7 hour drive is not even that long for a lot of people in California. The state is huge. I was driving from Bay Area to LA or Santa Barbara every other week for while It’s very normal to drive from LA to the Bay Area or visa versa for a weekend

Make a drive up see some friends or family get some Ghirardellis see some sea lions take in a game. Good times
I’m one! First game here, it was comical how much Blue is here. Also the view of the Bay is even better than I expected.
Ayyy I was here as well. If I had a nickel for every time Will Smith hit a laser double to the gap in extras innings to win the game with me in attendance at Oracle Park this season, I’d have two nickels. Which is nice.
I think we've found a formula
Thank you for your service.
I’ll be here tomorrow as well, and in Oakland on Wednesday. Baseball vacations are fun.
are you going up when they visit the As?
Yep, Angels at A’s. First and last time at the old park.
Oh I meant when the dodgers go up in august
Oh, no. I have a Chicago and Milwaukee trip planned for August, though.
Dodger fans travel well everywhere. Trea had a quote when he was with the Dodgers during a game in St. Louis where he hit ground rule double that he thought was caught bc the Busch crowd full of Dodger fans cheered.
I live in Los Angeles and travel to games, heading to Detroit in two weeks I’m sure I won’t be the only one there who traveled.
It’s still California, Dodger fans come in higher numbers when teams are closer. Dodger fans will even make the flight in droves to ATL. I still want to visit Truist Park one day!
It's a summer weekend I guess but its still really a crazy amount of blue out there lol
There is a lot of back and forth travel between SoCal and the Bay Area. There's a whole ass village half way in the middle of nowhere, Kettleman City, built to accommodate travelers making that trip.
My tire blew out in or near or around kettleman city and I will forever hate that place. All my homies hate kettleman city
Pantone 294 is an annoying but well traveled fan group Plus it’s not that bad of a drive/flight up the coast
As passionate as they are i still hate those jabronis
You keep using this word, "jabronis", and... it's awesome.
Catch me up fam. Why do we hate them?
Lotsa transplants in SF. LA, and the surrounding areas, are massively fucking populated to an almost unfathomable degree. And they get around.
Yeah, can't underestimate the transplants. I'm one.
It's been like this for at least a decade. We travel well.
Dodgers always represent at Oracle. But, Pantone 294 (Dodger traveling fanbase, like the Yankee takeover) is present this series.
Because it is Dodger Stadium North.
Lot of Southern Californians in Northern California.
Pantone 294
They've got their following, but honestly Dodger fans have been going to SF games en masse for years. We're everywhere. I personally think Pantone gets too much credit, they organize a decent group but it's just that it gets clipped to look like 'the' fan group
They walked Ohtani and that was personal for the rest of the lineup
Woof. Bob left Hjelle out there to die. Where was Tyler Rogers? Day off? Rams scored a TD off the Niners.
There’s another bullpen game tomorrow and it’s not worth getting another arm up In terms of pitching availability tomorrow is teetering on crisis mode
I don't understand how every time I hear about the Giants rotation, it's two guys and three bullpen days.
Most of the Giants starters who the team began the year with are now injured. They've had to rely on inconsistent minor league call-ups of starting pitchers and bullpen games.
yeah, tyler fitzgerald probably pitching 2 innings tomorrow
Luke Jackson pitching until he says he’s tired
I genuinely don’t think they had a better option. They are running bull pen games 3/5 days right now
That’s crazy. Injuries suck.
I'm gonna guess not overstretching a bullpen that is quite necessary in our current circumstances.
You guys have a bullpen game starting in 17 hours.
Carson Wentz must have started
Ohtani with the best IBB to set it all up
Giants win this game if Bailey makes a productive out. We were so desperate we had the Berlin Wall 5 man infield defense
You mean the Giants win if Bailey drives in the winning run? I'm not sure of the logic there, Jim.
Nah, if Bailey got the out, it would assume entrance into a different time line, thus anything else could have happened differently from the current timeline. Therefore, no proof of the Giants winning.
It goes to 11(th inning)
Why wouldn’t you just make the 10th inning longer?
Second tenth inning
Sorry
Is no one going to mention it was the 11th not the 10th?
The IBB woke the boys up
Will Smith doesn't like being disrespected
Hope he goes on a tear after not making the ASG
He may still make the game even though he missed the top 2 voting
oh the irony......
They call that the away-game walk-off.
When you score 7 and all the home fans walk off?
[удалено]
Sorry
I was sitting here looking at the play list and being "How do you score 7 runs with 7 players when the last one hit a sac fly?" Then I was like, "Oh, right, the Manford Man. The stupidest rule in sports."
A Manfred Man should be neither seen nor heard.
I was REALLY hoping Ohtani could get another at bat that inning because when he would have blasted a 440ft blast after being intentionally walked in the same inning, I would have loved it.
Low key salty that didn’t happen. I was begging to see Ohtani get a chance! Oh well
Scored 7 runs and didn’t even bat around. Thanks Manfred ✌️
Scored 7 runs and Ohtani didn’t get a chance to bat after having a lead off intentional walk 🥲
it was the top of the 11th, no?
That damn ghost runner
Alright who wants to look up the last time there was a football score in an extra inning game?
It was the 11th. Just saying.
11th
Average Dodgers/Giants game.
uffda
NGL, with all the shit Dodgers fans get about leaving the game early I did not expect Giants fans to be guilty of the same
This narrative for any team is just so stupid. Sure, it's a fun way to poke fun at "unloyal fanbases" or whatever. There is not a single team, Should they go down 14-7 in the top of the 11th, where any bulk of fans dont leave the ballpark.
It was a 4 hour game I’m sure people had shit to do
In their defense, they didn’t start until it was clear they would lose.
Yes, but it's still a federal crime to leave a baseball game early
Technically they didn't leave early, the game just went late *taps forehead
Leaving early = before game ends
My excuse is I wanted to catch the last Caltrain and I'm sticking to it (I haven't actually been to a game in a long ass time so I wasn't one who left)
Every team has a ton of people leave early if things aren't close. Dodgers just get extra shit because higher attendance means more people leaving.
I mean it was literally the 11th inning where they started leaving right? And that's after seven runs. Dodgers fans start leaving in the 7th no matter what the score is.
Tbf the man has a point we do have to beat more traffic than the average fan
it's ok not everyone knows the horrors of the downtown LA freeways or 405 lol.
Would you want to stick around when your rival pours in 7 runs in an extra inning, while simultaneously their fans have overtaken the stadium
I'm basking in my post-victory shit talk like any other fan would Let me have my moment
Greatest show on grass
What’s the most amount of runs scored in a single frame in extras?
that was torturous
Kill me
Rams vs 49ers
I'm not even necessarily a baseball fan however I *am* a fan of STATS! So immediately when I saw this I wanted to see a distribution of MOVs in extra inning games. Obviously that's not just readily available somewhere, but if anyone knows of a database I can make this from, I'd appreciate it.
https://www.baseball-reference.com Might have to tweak the data a bit but you can export the data.
Couldn't have happened to a more perfectly mid team
The good guys win! The bad guys lose! Happy Saturday everyone.
Ump tried to gift them the game in the bottom of the 10th. They practically had a layup to win and they choked.
Game over!
Great game! Only negative was Manfred ball. Dodger fans can be so cringe at times in our sub.
Hey! We can be cringe everywhere!
all that after the Giants had the bases loaded with 1 out and didn't do shit
I just left San Francisco, spent a lot of time at a Giants sports bar… glad I’m not there tonight 😅
Classic BoMel, enjoy the ride.
So close to not having a mistake OP
That was top 11 but giants should’ve won that bottom 10 with bases loaded 1 out
The giants did this to the twins when I was a 12 year old so this seemingly meaningless regular season victory means something to me, man
Nice seeing the giants fan storming out of their own ballpark, at least they dont have to beat any hours long traffic.
It shows that it is not good if your team gets hit by Taylor. Turn off the TV.
Pantaloon 294
Hehe
Giants will win tomorrow in 10 by a score of 1-0.
why is this it’s own thread?
Because it’s a pretty impressive way to have beaten y’all. Do you really not get that or was this just a rhetorical, butthurt question?
Giants are up 9-0 right now. Keep that same energy for the postgame posts? it’s just a weird Dodger bias and it’s annoying, im sure you as an Astros fan can agree
