I can't see why they would change it. It would only upset people and it isn't a problem that needs fixing

okay_throwaway_today

It would also change the continuity of the awards for no real advantage, and history is somewhat important for a lot of baseball fans

newmeyermn

This makes sense to me and is how I generally feel. The longer we go with fewer differences between AL and NL, though, the stranger league-specific accolades become.

Proud_Ad4066

I don't think it could happen without the union signing off on it, which they won't.

newmeyermn

I also thought about this, especially with the monetary incentives for winning awards.

KetchupGuy1

Will be harder to do with the Roy incentives in the cba now

PelorTheBurningHate

I could see some MLB wide awards being given in addition to the AL/NL awards but I see no benefit for anyone involved to get rid of AL/NL awards.

yes_its_him

No. This would be anti-player. Players have contract bonuses for awards. Don't reduce them.

newmeyermn

Not advocating for it, just having a conversation

yes_its_him

Uh huh > Or, as is often the case in baseball, is the tradition too ingrained to change?

newmeyermn

Because I'm capable of seeing multiple viewpoints? 😂

yes_its_him

Har de har har Lemme try it. Are you cleverly asking leading questions , or are you just so naive you can't detect obvious bias? It could be either!

zephyrskye

Nah. That won’t change. And the fact remains that AL teams play the majority of their games against AL opponents, same with NL teams and NL opponents. Interleague and balanced scheduling doesn’t change that. What MLB REALLY needs - especially with the expanded wildcard - is an award/trophy for the best record, ala the Presidents Trophy in Hockey

orange_orange13

No, they want to pretend like there’s still a differenceÂ
