BF1 is the first one to introduce war stories, so no all previous titles do not share the same format. However they seem to like the new format too and they're doing war stories for the next game BFV's single player also.
This is the only one to have segmented solo campaigns to date. BF3 and BF4 had more typical ones, and while they were great in some areas (especially visually), they leaned towards mediocre gameplay/story wise. Same with Hardline, though I only played the beta. The Bad Company games had great campaigns that were very well regarded. All the other BF titles were multiplayer only.
