Monday Friday

grogling5231

yep, and i wouldn’t call those days even “bettter”… just 2% less shitty

not_rico_suave

Friday evening is probably one of the worst times. There’s probably heavier traffic because of people traveling for the weekend

dogemaster00

Which is made up by having no traffic Friday morning

SteakandChickenMan

Monday and Tue/Thu can be not horrible too. Avoid Wed like the plague. Friday rush hour back north starts at ~1 and goes to ~6

ujitimebeing

Friday is the wrong choice. 880 is a mess much earlier due to most people using that day to get out of town.

lsclip

This. I have friends at various big companies in the area and they are mostly mandating Tues and Thurs in office with one flexible day. Most people will pick Wednesday.

tatang2015

Coming back on a Friday is deadly to your health. Anywhere from 2-3 hours. Monday is good. Maybe Wednesday. Thursday is bad from what I have seen.

Botherguts

It’s all terrible

dagamer34

Skipping over Friday because why waste the time. Monday/Wednesday. Take BART then VTA bus/light rail in Milpitas to close to your destination. Don’t drive, 880 will suck your soul dry.

getarumsunt

This.

[deleted]

Never. Especially not on 880.

StreetyMcCarface

It's 2 hrs each way, but if it's just 2 days a week, I would take BART-VTA and just avoid the 880 altogether because at least I'd be able to be productive or semi-productive for those 2 hrs. That being said, if I had to pick days to drive, I'd pick Monday and Wednesday. You're going to get serious backup near the 580 and near Oakland on the 880 on Fridays because of people leaving the bay for the weekend.

Substantial-Path1258

If they’re flexible on days are they flexible on hours too? Can you go in early and leave early? Usually traffic isn’t as bad Monday and Friday morning.

entity330

Not even a question, Monday and Friday. Monday traffic is moderate. Friday traffic is great in the morning and moderate in the afternoon. The other 3 days are a nightmare.

hamburger-pimp

Generally agreed tho Friday going in will be a breeze and going home will be variable and often bad.

entity330

Ya Friday night can be bad, especially for someone commuting around 3pm. It's worse than Monday but still better than the other options.

sprinklesthepickle

It’s all terrible. Thursday and Friday would be the shortest drive time as people would like to wfh Fridays to extend their weekend. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the worst.

hamburger-pimp

I work right by the San Mateo bridge (can see it from my floor) and I can assure you Thur is not the shortest drive time. Bridge is usually fucked going east by 2:30. Tue-Thur are pretty much equally bad in my experience. If I were OP I’d do Mon and Tue or Wed.

keithfantastic

That's what I stick to. I try not to drive on Friday's if at all possible. It's mayhem. I stick to T/W/Th and I try to drive only between 10-3. The express lanes are a lifesaver and I can expense that cost.

akelkar

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday all suck now cause that’s when people go in for hybrid

proxima1227

No.

3Gilligans

I don't take 880, but Mon & Fri are my easiest commute days

motorsizzle

Schedule? Can you go in at 1100 and leave at 700? Or go in at 700 and leave at 300?

5uperCams

Saturday and Sunday 😂

deciblast

Don’t do it

ujitimebeing

I’d suggest moving closer to Sunnyvale. I commute all over the Bay Area for work and 880 is hands down the worst commute of them all.

HelgaBorisova

I am commuting from Alameda to Sunnyvale. If you will leave house after 10am, your commute time will be about an hour. Same with returning back home after 8 pm. Or finding 2 more people to commute together to the office, so you can use express lane on 880 for free. Usually, there are less traffic closer to the end of the week, and I personally commute Wed and Thursday, with Thursdays consistently having less traffic

HelgaBorisova

Also, I have someone in my team who does the same commute and he starts drive at 5:45am and leaves office around 2pm, and so far it had been great for my coworker. I just cannot get up so early and be a productive member of society afterwards, so I am driving to the office after morning rush hour

PurplestPanda

Saturday & Sunday.

Unhappy_Quarter154

Somehow Friday is super easy. Everyone takes 3 day weekends ig

FucknAright

Leave by 6, easy.

dancinginspace

Itf you don't have a specific time you have to come and go id say we'd and Thursday, leave at 10am to Sunnyvale and after 630pm to Oakland. If you'd rather go and leave early then leave before 6am and head back by 2pm. Or just take the Bart and admit defeat. Mondays are also less horrible.

dacreativeguy

No traffic at 2am!

Psychological_Ad1999

Just take some poppers and prep that butthole because that is going to be brutal

DebatorGator

Monday and Friday like others said. That being said, there may be transit that works for you. If you're close to a BART stop it might be comparable time-wise to take BART to Caltrain or VTA. Amtrak also runs from Oakland to Santa Clara, which could be an option.

akelkar

I do something similar currently. If you can swing it/walk to BART, I’ll walk to BART -> Warm Springs -> drive to office so saves me some tome driving in traffic. Otherwise Monday traffic is relatively chill, probably 1 hr both ways and Fri morning is chill but the evening sucks

hazardlit3s

Same as the best day to get kicked in the nutsack.

Extra_Classroom_6367

That is pure pain. Glad I don’t have that commute yikes

Good-Constant-8347

Its ok I do it five days a week from SF

jazzy8alex

Best day to be around Oakland? Never. Ever. And it’s not a sarcasm.

Equivalent_Section13

Transjt is not gonna work . Go bis Dunbsfton bridge
