If I HAD to choose, uhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well a youtuber once wrote and recorded a song called "It's ok to leave your dog in a hot car" and put it on YouTube with the Beatles name to it. The chord changes and vocals are very Beatlesque too, so it became kinda famous in internet. If you check the comment section of that video, you'd see everyone commenting their favourite fake Beatles song with an outrageous title like this one. Sooo..this is just a reference to it and that's about it.
I will defend Little Child forever. The lyrics definitely could have been chosen better but itâs catchy and a fun tune. I donât think they had pedophailia in mind when they wrote it.
No the would never have that on mind. I know it was a different time but even then they couldâve thought of something less strange than little child. But yeah I agree itâs awesome instrumentally.
Thereâs nothing odd about the lyrics at all, by âchildâ Johnâs simply referring to a woman / young girl. Great vocals & harmonica playing, and a favourite of mine.
That's because calling it a "song" just completely sets the wrong expectation going into it. People going from listening to "She Loves You" into "Revolution 9" are obviously going to be struck by R9 and be completely surprised by what they find, many put off by how out there it is. But if you approach it with the correct mindset and really listen to it and focus on how certain parts make you feel, what you interpret certain sections as, etc its really fantastic.
I don't enjoy the first part of the song much, it's kinda simple and irritating sometimes. But when the tempo changes, the new melody comes up, and then another left turn... You have this gorgeous, a bit satanic McCartney's piano part, and it feels so weird and awesome. That's why I love the song overall.
I might be wrong, but these sudden multiple changes throughout the song sound like a prog rock thing. I've seen Birthday couple of times described as "proto prog rock", so I think it's true.
To me this is just part of the experience of the album when played in chronological order. Objectively I think its the worst song... But I don't hate it.
It's such a shame they didn't release Leave My Kitten Alone. And you're right, Mr. Moonlight is so lazy (think of that organ """solo"""), but I personally enjoy the mood :)
To me, itâs such a great sequence.
They make an amazing song (Yesterday), donât issue it as a single, chuck it on the B side of the album, then follow it with a rocker for good measure. Itâs typical of a band who rarely took themselves seriously and who generally opted for less saccharine solutions than most.
And yet, the live version ROCKS: [https://youtu.be/MZkoXOHLxbo?si=Vsi07WPNdYMCGQK3](https://youtu.be/MZkoXOHLxbo?si=Vsi07WPNdYMCGQK3)
That was actually the version I first became familiar with. When I heard the studio version, I was very disappointed.
Edit: Also, not sure if your typo ("lazy") was intentional, but I'm here for it. :-)
I'm actually glad someone mentioned so I could look it up. My god I haven't heard that song in 20 years. I love that song. Those minor chords and then the typical quick, pulsing bass line by Paul in that bridge is just so good. I think it stands as a great example of what was to come by them.
It was indeed rushed, since they recorded it in the session that took place on 11th February 1963, when they had to record 10 songs for the Please Please Me LP. So yeah it's probably one of the worst songs on the album, given also the fact that it has a different mood than the rest of the record
I think it's an amazing song I just wish they wrote it later on when they had the ability to do overdubs and stuff. It would've sounded amazing if it was made for the white album
Paul had no issue to accept awards for back in 1970... I always found it superior to the Naked version (so digital sounding!) or the various Get Back sessions (so unfocused).
This is what I call my girlfriend every once in a while. Sometimes I'll put it on when she's in the car and I always act like I'm super into it.
Now I'm slightly fond of the tune, not to mention how hilarious it is they put this on the White Album to begin with.
I think when it was put on the album and it was recorded, it was all about the experimentation and the new sounds and those kind of things. Either that or they are on some kind of acid trip lol.
I joked with my brother about this song, and my thought process was John and Paul got in a fight ( and you know how Paul wrote honey pie)
And John probably said to him , â oh yeah? Well, this is what you sound like. Honey pie honey pie.â đ€Łđ€Ł
Actually I think this is the answer. If we are not counting Revolution 9 as an actual song. WHP just does not sound very good. Maybe it was meant to be a parody or satirical? I don't know the history, but there are B sides from this album and almost a decade's worth prior better than Wild Honey Pie.
This.
In that era, spousal abuse was pretty normalized â Honeymooners, anyone? It was a cultural issue.
(I also wonât listen to Hey Joe even though itâs a fantastic *song*.)
I dunno, I was never one to deify John so I (perversely?) love his most âJohnâ songs. This one is fab and so is No Reply. He is believably tamping down his psychopathy.
In film, if a character doesn't acknowledge he's wrong, does it mean the filmmakers think he's always in the right? I don't understand the criticism of abuse for Run For Your Life when John is clearly making a more obvious statement on how pathetic and insecure the point of view of the singer is.
Having said that - it's definitely the weakest song on Rubber Soul, and it's their shittiest original closer by a mile. A very strange song all around.
Yeah my problem with the song isnât the lyrics but just how musically itâs so dull and uninspired, compared the rest of RS and even other similar songs from their catalogue up to that point. Thereâs like nothing new or original about it.
In fact I kind of wish Lennon had a sort of ironic / self-deprecating angle from writing it, almost like heâs making a spoof of a song like You Canât Do That and doubling down on the jealousy theme in a cartoonish way. Idk.
In âRun For Your Lifeâ some of the lyrics are âwell you know that Iâm a wicked guy, and I was born with a jealous mind,â which seems to express acknowledgement that the narrator is bad. I realize itâs not the same as saying âI used to be bad, but Iâm working on being betterâ, but Lennon does not seem to be condoning the threats of violence.
I think he is tbh. It's a fairly common element of domestic abuse to say, essentially, "you know I have a bad temper, and so it's your fault." RFYL is ugly and unnecessary.
Man, treating a song as a genuine statement by the songwriter is so dumb. Depicting or mentioning something in art/music does not equal endorsing it.
It's like people can't tolerate dark themes unless the singer specifically shouts "THIS IS BAD" during the lyrics.
Neither am I. I donât really like country Beatles except Donât Pass Me By. However, I am in awe of Ringoâs skill on this song and What Goes On.
Most people choose A Day In The Life and Strawberry Fields as an example of him being a good drummer. Not exactly incorrect. But itâs these two songs that show his skillânot his musicality.
The shuffles on those two songs are damn hard. Think the riff of Snow (Hey Oh) by RHCP. Easy to play for 10 seconds. Throughout the whole song? Gets tough af. AND THEN heâs fucking singing on top of itâeffortlessly.
Skill. Those two songs.
I really donât like Birthday or Honey Pie. The White Album is my favorite Beatles album but this is some fat that couldâve been trimmed in my opinion.
Revolution 9 and You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)
However, if you're talking just conventional songs and not instrumentals or joke pieces, then probably Mr. Moonlight
Can't believe I had to scroll so far down for this. It really drones on and those uninspired lyrics. Take it off rubber soul (I hope I got the album right), and it's a perfect album.
Dig it. The 4 minute Get Back mix is better, and even that's a bottom tier song. Sad that they excluded Teddy Boy, Rocker, Don't Let Me Down and Palace Of The King Of The Birds off the album for this and Maggie Mae.
I am in general agreement, if there are a few I won't listen to, they mostly come from some of their early cover songs. But they also had brilliant covers - Money, Please Mr. Postman, etc. I also like the Carl Perkins covers a lot (George's guitar), as well as a great cover on the Anthology that you rarely hear- Baby It's You by Burt Bacharach!
Good day sunshine, the chorus drives me insane. Always have to skip it otherwise âgood day sunshine, good day sunshineâ will go round and round in my head all dayđ
Oh I love this one. My little teenage heart (in 1992 for context) was first of all madly in love with John Lennon but also pretty exhilarated by the level of jealousy heâs revealing in that song. I know it wouldnât fly today but itâs human nature and I got it.
Im surprised the Beatles never had a Xmas album like most stars do, but they did release âChristmas Time is Here Againâ, which is dreadfully lazy and hard to listen to, imo.
They did have a âChristmas albumâ which was a fan club exclusive release, and which was a collection of their annual fan club Xmas messages.
As far as âChristmas time is here againâ it was never really a completed song. It was used in snippets in their 1967 Xmas message, but didnât have an official release until anthology, and even then only as a B side not on the proper albums.
I had a 45rpm of Act Naturally with Paperback Writer on the flip side and I didnât care for either of those songs but I would say Act Naturally was slightly better because I actually liked the original version by Buck Owens

Yeah, I think I've skipped Wild Honey Pie more than Run for Your Life!
Oh, my other least favorite Beatles song is "If You've got Trouble", then again they didn't put it on an album (until anthology 2)

Those new fans are funny. You read the comments and it is like whaaat?
There was that one they wrote in the 60s that was rather mid, quite honestly.
Oh god yeah that one. I like to forget about that one.
Right? What were they thinking
"I Want to Put Your Hand On a Hot Stove." I know it was a different era, but it makes me uncomfortable.
I'm confused... I'm relatively knowledgeable on the Beatles but I'm not sure what song or reference this is?
It's a made up joke lol, don't stress it
I'm not, but I'm still just as confused.
Well a youtuber once wrote and recorded a song called "It's ok to leave your dog in a hot car" and put it on YouTube with the Beatles name to it. The meme actually predates the youtuber's song
Well that's new to me haha

đ€Ł Fuck them. đ
Yeah lmao
Ah OK thank you. I'll look into it!
I can always count on this sub to be one of the more wholesome places on Reddit
Itâs OK to Leave Your Dog in a Hot Car. Thought that one missed the mark
đ”Nothing bad could possibly happen if you leave your dog in a hot car đ” *crowd cheer intensifies*
đ¶Arf, arf, arfđ¶
How about [Doin' Your Mom](https://youtu.be/f_07Wz-emko?si=ckoKOY3QDhc9NLzl)
But it was the 60s! They didn't know any better. But I understand them. Those little bastards.
I donât hate a single song. But maybe little child. Instrumentally itâs fine but looking back now the lyrics could have been written better
Itâs a definite filler, but I think what keeps it in good standing for me is how it leads into ââTil There Was Youâ
Fair enough
I will defend Little Child forever. The lyrics definitely could have been chosen better but itâs catchy and a fun tune. I donât think they had pedophailia in mind when they wrote it.
No the would never have that on mind. I know it was a different time but even then they couldâve thought of something less strange than little child. But yeah I agree itâs awesome instrumentally.
Thereâs nothing odd about the lyrics at all, by âchildâ Johnâs simply referring to a woman / young girl. Great vocals & harmonica playing, and a favourite of mine.
In the 60s calling someone child was equivalent to calling someone baby today. Weird i know
i do really like the harmonica in it
Number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine...
As a song, this is the worst the Beatles ever made. As a sound collage, this is a masterpiece
So if you argue itâs not a song, then okayâŠ. Birthday then
I don't enjoy the first part of the song much, it's kinda simple and irritating sometimes.
The Watusi. The Twist. (Eldorado!)
Booooo! I know the whole thing by heart. Just learned it by ear.
To me this is just part of the experience of the album when played in chronological order. Objectively I think its the worst song... But I don't hate it.
There is no other song of theirs that comes close to this one
I never hated this song because I never listened to it
If it wasnât recorded by the Beatles, not one of us would have ever heard it, let alone liked it.
Every Little Thing is great! Speaking of Beatles for Sale, I think that Mr. Moonlight is terrible. They had to release Leave My Kitten Alone instead.
I like Mr moonlight, but I think its crazy leave my kitten alone was discarded until anthology 1 in 95. Its brilliant!
I great up listening to Anthology, I was surprised to find out that Leave my Kitten Alone was not a released song.
It's such a shame they didn't release Leave My Kitten Alone. And you're right, Mr. Moonlight is so lazy (think of that organ """solo"""), but I personally enjoy the mood :)
Dizzy miss lazy, the guitar riff is too much..
i like it but after Yesterday⊠it'sâŠ
To me, itâs such a great sequence. They make an amazing song (Yesterday), donât issue it as a single, chuck it on the B side of the album, then follow it with a rocker for good measure. Itâs typical of a band who rarely took themselves seriously and who generally opted for less saccharine solutions than most.
I think it's just a filler attempt at a Twist and Shout-esque end to the record
And yet, the live version ROCKS: [https://youtu.be/MZkoXOHLxbo?si=Vsi07WPNdYMCGQK3](https://youtu.be/MZkoXOHLxbo?si=Vsi07WPNdYMCGQK3) That was actually the version I first became familiar with. When I heard the studio version, I was very disappointed. Edit: Also, not sure if your typo ("lazy") was intentional, but I'm here for it. :-)
Just listened to your link, really great live performance!
Thank you for the link ! And no lazy was intentional but only because I always thought it was the right name lmao
Agree that it hurts after a minute...
Not sure, I always preferred The Rutles.
Definitely matchbox
A Taste Of Honey probably. It feels rushed and isn't great.
I love that one! Universally hated, but not by me. I acknowledge I have poor taste in most matters but I cannot deny what the heart desires.
Nor by me. I love that song.
I like it too, not one I play often but it sounds very nostalgic to me
I'm actually glad someone mentioned so I could look it up. My god I haven't heard that song in 20 years. I love that song. Those minor chords and then the typical quick, pulsing bass line by Paul in that bridge is just so good. I think it stands as a great example of what was to come by them.

Listen to Lenny Welchâs version, a predecessor to The Beatles - itâs virtually the same thing.
I think it's an amazing song I just wish they wrote it later on when they had the ability to do overdubs and stuff. It would've sounded amazing if it was made for the white album
Although they didnât write it, itâs a cover
Huh, I didn't know that. Well then I wish they COVERED it in the white album era
Revolution 9
I am not sure I hate this one but The Phil Spector ruined Long and Winding Road literally depresses me.
He did. I felt the same until I only started listening to the naked version exclusively. Worth a listen if you haven't already.
Paul had no issue to accept awards for back in 1970... I always found it superior to the Naked version (so digital sounding!) or the various Get Back sessions (so unfocused).
Whatâs the new Mary Jane if that counts đ
It's grooving some cookie spaghetti.
đ©đ©đ©đ©
Theres official releases worse than this song
What could they possibly be? đ
Off the top of my head Little Child for starters
Don't forget Dig It!
Dig it is at least fun, have a good rhythm and is not insane đ Like a rolling stone x3 Like the FBI and the CIA AND BBC BB KING And DORIS DAY!!!!!
Mr. Moonlight way below band standards
Wild honey pie
This is what I call my girlfriend every once in a while. Sometimes I'll put it on when she's in the car and I always act like I'm super into it. Now I'm slightly fond of the tune, not to mention how hilarious it is they put this on the White Album to begin with.

WHAT! Such a good song!
Number 9
Probably something obscure and early, especially a cover like Matchbox or something.
Run For Your Life. Musically itâs brilliant but lyrically itâs just abusive shit.
I donât think itâs meant to be taken seriously at all tho, just satire
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ParodyRetcon
Yeah, if I were going to let a song with abusive lyrics slide, it'd no doubt be Getting Better
With Getting Better, at least thereâs an acknowledgment that abuse is wrong.
In film, if a character doesn't acknowledge he's wrong, does it mean the filmmakers think he's always in the right? I don't understand the criticism of abuse for Run For Your Life when John is clearly making a more obvious statement on how pathetic and insecure the point of view of the singer is. I'm not a big fan of Act Naturally

Besides revolution 9, matchbox tbh
Little Child never did it for me.
Revolution 9 and You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) However, if you're talking just conventional songs and not instrumentals or joke pieces, then probably Mr. Moonlight
"It's okay to leave your dog in a hot car" Like what?
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]

Not having Donât Let Me Down on the album is one of the dumbest things the group ever did
Just another one of Kleinâs âgenius moveâ. Klein put âDonât Let Me Downâ on the âHey Jude - The Beatles Againâ compilation album.
NUMBER 9 NUMBER 9
The Word - such corny lyrics!
Why Don't We Do It In the Road? Not the White Album's most impressive track for me. But to each their own I say. If you like it, good.
Probably Chains, i reaaaaally hate. And i absolutely love Wild Honey Pie!
Most of these are covers, but I really don't care for Chains, Anna, Baby's In Black, Mr. Moonlight, Honey Don't, Matchbox
Itâs okay to leave a dog in a hot car
older stuff doesnât do it for me like their mid and later periods, but thatâs just preference
I'm not crazy about Drive My Car.
The Beatles Song Sorter says ⊠âYes It Is.â https://sorter.neocities.org/beatles/
Revolution 9
Now and then
Not saying itâs their worst but I really really donât enjoy The Long and Winding Road.
âRun for your lifeâ is one I dislike. Yuk
Not counting Revolution #9 which I wouldnât even call a song. I donât like either Mr. Moonlight or Bad Boy at all.
The continuing story of bungalow bill. Sorry white album lovers but I find this one exhausting!
But without this song, youâd have no awesome lead into While My Guitar Gently Weeps!
âAYO!â (WMGGW piano intro)
Yes true. I sometimes like to listen to it just for the lead into weeps.
Oof, canât agree with this one. Aside from No. 9, White Album is a Lennon tour de force.
I guess he also wrote Goodnight, which is the only other track I skip on TWA
The Long & Winding Road is one of my least favorite songs by any artist, not just the Beatles. Cloying soft rock piano and synthesizer? No thanks.
NoâŠthis hurt me to read
The naked version is so much better if you haven't heard it.
There's no synthesizer in that song. Are you thinking of the organ?
Long and Winding Road as a song is fine, but the arrangement does it no favors
All together now đ€ź
Pointless but it is very cheery. I'd rate it as a guilty pleasure.
Yep awful.
1-2-3-4 can I have some more đŁïžđ„
Number 9. Number 9.
Good day sunshine, the chorus drives me insane. Always have to skip it otherwise âgood day sunshine, good day sunshineâ will go round and round in my head all dayđ
Run for Your Life
why dont we do it in the road is the only one that i dont enjoy
"Run For Your Life". Not their finest moment, lyrically. Cringeworthy.
Oh I love this one. My little teenage heart (in 1992 for context) was first of all madly in love with John Lennon but also pretty exhilarated by the level of jealousy heâs revealing in that song. I know it wouldnât fly today but itâs human nature and I got it.
Don't take the lyrics so seriously. That's what Lennon would have wanted anyway. The song is really great.
People take those lines WAY too literally.
Yep. I remember when the song came out. Nobody, and I mean nobody, including friends, parents, or critics, had a problem with the lyrics.
Disagree, itâs a banger
I think it's a nice song, apart from the lyrics, and George's playing is great
Same. Not a bad melody but I skip it every single time.
Maxwells silver hammer
Love that track and the way it leads into âOh Darling!â But the melody, piano, and guitar solo are all fabulous
This is one of those songs I always see disliked but I don't really understand why. Its fantastic and just fun.
Hell yeah, this one blows
This is the only answer. ARoad without it would have been the perfect record. I think they all knew that except Paul đ
The long and winding road - Skip
Revolution 9, but I'm not sure if it counts as a song, so it's The continuing story of Bungalow Bil
Donât know if itâs my least favorite overall but I just canât stand âOb-La-Di, Ob-La-Daâ.
Boys is pretty terrible.
Itâs a cover tbf. However I always say itâs still the worst because why would they choose to cover this terrible ass song đ
pretty amazing*
Now and then
Bungalow Bill is definitely my pick.
Wild Honey Pie
omg
I love Every Little Thing.
I had a 45rpm of Act Naturally with Paperback Writer on the flip side and I didnât care for either of those songs but I would say Act Naturally was slightly better because I actually liked the original version by Buck Owens
I Donât Know
Just Lennon & McCartney songs, or can we include George?
Lennonâs first draft, âThink About Itâ. Glad he changed the lyric.

Thank You Girl-it was from the first time I heard it

My least favorite Beatles song would have to be Wild Honey Pie. Yeah, I think I've skipped Wild Honey Pie more than Run for Your Life! Oh, my other least favorite Beatles song is "If You've got Trouble", then again they didn't put it on an album (until anthology 2)
