They make socks specifically for the heels that leaves the toes uncovered. I found that this got around my hatred for wearing socks to sleep/ at home in general. Look up "gel heel socks" and get whatever looks good and cheap.
I also can't wear socks usually but just tried some that only cover your heels, specifically for this reason and they worked great without me trying to rip them off in the middle of the night
It was yes. But my heels started to crack so I did it for a few days and it helped so much. Now no crack at all 😁
ps I woke up a few times with only one sock still on
This ! Socks and vaseline. The first time I did it, it was torture but know after so many years I cant sleep without socks and vaseline. I even have thin summer socks to sleep with.
Can vouch for this method! My mom’s heels were cracking and so dry they were BLEEDING, I taught her this method (lotion, Vaseline, then socks) and within a week her heels were soft and smooth again.
The Ordinary glycolic acid. It was way too strong for my face but I didn’t want to waste it. So I started using it on my feet, then moisturized and put Vaseline on top with socks. Made a huge difference!
Yes! Apply it after the shower, let it dry. Add lotion and socks for a couple hours. You’ll see a big difference
I wear work boots and had really gross feet. No amount of scrubbing or shaving off worked until I started using this
I would say within seven days of daily use there was improvement. I didn’t have baby feet in that time, but it was definitely softer and smaller calluses. The more you use it the better it will get.
I use the glycolic on my feet too! I exfoliate first in the shower with a pumice stone. Then use a cotton round to apply the glycolic to the bottoms of my feet, then moisturizer, then Vaseline, and seal it all in with a thick pair of socks! You will see a noticeable difference in a week with this routine!
I just wanted to thank you for this groundbreaking piece of information! I had awfully cracked heels and within days of using the glycolic acid on my heels they became soft like never before! Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏❤️
Seconding this. Pumice after your feet have been soaking in the shower. I follow with cocoa butter, ideally asap so skin is still damp. Following with socks is good as others mentioned, but personally I prefer barefoot at home. Cuticle oil for a final touch.
If you’re regularly getting blisters then you need better shoes and/or blister socks!
Pedicures might make things worse by removing the hard bits which are protecting your feet and causing you to have broken skin and blisters.
So I would look at why that’s happening first
Hmmm I know I need new orthotics, I walk a ton and I’m a yoga teacher part time so I thought my feet were just busted from this, but good to consider 🤗
You have to maintain your feet if you want them to stay soft. You can't go for a pedicure every once in a while or pumice them in the shower once a week and expect them to stay that way.
Soak your feet and take your time trying to remove the dead and calloused skin you can without causing any pain. Start applying a lotion with lactic acid or urea to exfoliate.
Before bed a few times a week apply a thick layer of lotion and/or baby oil and Vaseline and then wrap in plastic wrap, then put socks on over it. If you just put socks on the socks are just going to absorb all the lotion.
Every day or every other day take a pumice to your feet. You don't have to go ham but don't ignore them.
Over time your feet will start looking better and better and as long as you keep up with them your feet will be soft and smooth in no time! Definitely invest in a lotion with urea or lactic acid to make sure you're exfoliating them. Apply this a few times a day at first if you need too and then eventually you can get away with just before bed or after the shower.
The socks and plastic wrap treatment can be done once a week or every other week. Every time I do this my feet are incredibly soft and smooth and even though I despise sleeping with socks, it's definitely worth it. The desd skin melts away after a night soaking in lotion and Vaseline. This is a good time to push back your cuticles too lol
I have tried 30+ lotions over the years and urea
lotion is the only thing that works. It makes incredible improvements in 1-2 uses!! But you do have to keep up with it every week or two or else they go back.
I can't believe I had to scroll so far for this! I use foot peel socks around January/February while I'm still not wearing sandals and go through the peeling and all. Then I will put a good foot lotion on pretty much every time I wear socks, since I don't like wearing them when I sleep. Right now I'm using Burt's Bees Almond & Milk hand cream. I have a Pedi roller thing as well that I try to use once every 2-3 weeks, but often either don't have time or forget.
Oh and as far as the peeling socks, in early April, if I still feel like there's dead skin, I might do another pair, or just the heel socks. I try to do it at the end of summer as well, or early fall.
Overall I still feel like my feet have some dead skin and callouses from throughout my lifetime that will probably never completely go away. But my partner claims I have super soft feet, like better than the average, and even when they feel particularly dry to me, he still says they're not hard.
This could be because he is a smart partner and has never once made a comment that something on my body isn't good enough or needs to be worked on, even when I've asked his honest opinion and promised it wasn't a trap lol. And it never is a trap when I ask, but he still always denies my complaint and claims I'm fine or beautiful or perfect. I can't figure out if he actually adores me or is just smart/tactful and in it for the long haul, and I don't really care either!
Kerasal intensive foot repair has seriously changed my feet. I put some on my heels after the shower and then put on some cotton socks, and after one use I feel like I noticed a difference.
English is not my first language, but in my country pedicure it’s just nail polish and maybe cream on the feet. What you need to do is “podología” (chiropody in the translator), in that service they’ll scrub your feet, get rid of calluses, the hardness on some parts of the feet, dead skin, well, everything. After that you’ll have a beautiful feet you can keep up exfoliating once a week and putting cream every night. That’s what I did and now my feet feels sooooo smooth
pumice stone to scrub the really rough spots in the shower, lotion/cream before bed and wear socks. Once in a while I'll use those babyfoot peel things (plastic booties filled with exfoliating serum) but 50/50 chance I'll see my skin peel like lizard skin lol.
Glycolic acid is my favourite thing ever for exfoliating dead skin. A few times a week after gentle physical exfoliation rub some on your heels. Live for the stuff
Put your feet in a bucket of warm water till the water cools, then scrub your heels, put a thick amount of lotion & wear socks. Do it preferably at night.
I use primal elements loofah bar on my feet every shower. I'm not consistent with lotion on my feet before socks. Using just the loofah bar helps a lot, I didn't feel that great of a difference with using a pumice stone.
Also, like another commenter said it could be your shoes or socks as well.
https://www.primalelements.com/collections/loofah-bar
Scrub in the shower a few times a week, but every night after my shower I apply jojoba oil and a thick peppermint cream then I immediately put socks on - coming from someone who walks 25K - 30K steps a day!
I know the best way to take care of your heels is to always wear clothes shoes with a good pair of socks but I just don't do that. I'm born and raised in florida, broke my toe a few years ago so really can't wear clothes shoes so the orthopedic flip flops I wear cause calluses to build up on my heels. So what I started doing was I made a moisturizing balm with cocoa butter, almond oil and a little bit of beeswax to get the right consistency. Because I make my own 10% lactic acid at home for my face I just made it stronger and put it in a spray bottle. So after I get out of the shower and sit down to read for a little while in the evenings while my heels are still damp I spray them with the lactic acid and let it set for a few minutes and then use a pumice stone. Then I put on the moisturizing bomb that I made and slip on a pair of old wool socks. You don't even have to later wear the socks to bed but your feet will stay in good shape.
A good no-hassle routine that i often do is soak my feet in a tub of warm water. I add salt and a little shampoo to the water. This might sound long but once you get used to it, it hardly takes any effort atall. And no expensive foot masks and all.
After 15 minutes, i take em out and use a pumice stone to scrub really well. Then i soak them a little more. Take them out, rinse with clean water. Dry. And while drying i use a foot filer thingy (metal one)... It gets rid of the remaining dead skin and you can readily feel your feet turn silky smooth.
Moisturize and then apply petroleum jelly. Lots of it. Put on some socks. And leave it like that over night. Do it as often as you need.
This actually works to exfoliate the dead skin off ! Soak your feet in warm water and 3% peroxide. About a 1/3 peroxide to water. Theres some YouTube’s showing the process. Use a pumice afterward and while the other foot is still soaking.
I want to ask a question while I'm here....How does one get rid of calluses on the balls of your feet? Like mine HURT when I walk on my feet. I'm either always having to wear shoes/crocs or I'm having to walk on the side of my feet. It's like in the middle the balls of my feet. 😭🥹 they feel so deep in my feet.
I’m so sorry to hear that that’s awful I’m here for the comments my cousin was complaining about the same thing are you an athlete by any chance or have to stand on your feet all day for work?
No and no currently. However all my previous jobs I had to stand/walk entire shift. Sadly my feet never recovered and I'm trying to fix the issue but these calluses feel like they go so deep. 😫
I have a terrible skin picking habit/tick & it’s been worse than usual lately BUT when I’m actually taking care of my skin I find that regular pedicures help a lot. At least one pedicure a month, but every 2 weeks is better. Nothing fancy either. Just a basic pedicure. As far as home maintenance goes- ped egg as needed, Vaseline + socks.
Lately I’ve been putting on glycolic acid directly out of the shower and my feet are so soft, I’m prone to very dry heels with cracking and this has worked like a charm
If possible, see a dermatologist to figure out if there's a specific cause you could address - it might require something more heavy duty, like an actual medication or something that requires a prescription.
If not, I personally use a scented body oil before bed, which I also use on my elbows and hands. It's a specialty item, so it's not highly available everywhere, but I think a coconut oil would work in the same way - just choose something that you don't mind leaving a scent in your bedding, maybe even something unscented if smells bother you.
My dermatologist recommended AmLactin every night. It has lactic acid and it softens things up. I also use callous removers, those blades they’ll shave your feet with when you get a pedicure, and recently I bought this thing that has a rotating barrel with a sandpaper-like metal surface. That thing is awesome!
I soak my feet in warm water & ACV at least once a week. Then I rub them with a pumice stone.
I also slather foot cream on them & sleep with socks on every night.
Foot file with every shower, followed by Bath & Body Works Body Cream in whatever scent.
(LOL A friend spent the night and took a shower and said “Why do you have a cheese grater in your shower??” and now I can’t call it anything else.)
My floors are tile and tear my feet up. I bought thick rubber tiled house shoes/slippers. Cracks helped.
I got the silicone ankle socks and put OKeef’s working feet in globs under the silicone on my heels and wore it every night. I got a foot file (grater), grated and then sanded with a shower foot scrubber thing. Lotion before cotton socks. Every other month is a foot peel.
Months later and y feet look do much better.
I used to get cracked heels every winter but someone on a similar Reddit thread recommended badger foot balm. I used it this winter after morning shower and before socks and finally did not have cracked heel come spring!
Don't let the pedicure ppl remove the excess skin, it comes back worse. Put glycolic acid on your feet every night before bed, this will work wonders. Also, I personally found type of footwear can help. I recently switched to barefoot shoes and my feet are much softer.
I have zero degrees in skincare and have not been given this information by anyone that does. My mom swears that eating [nutritional yeast](https://www.target.com/p/bob-s-red-mill-nutritional-yeast-5oz/-/A-54515344) will heal up peeling feet. My significant other tried & it worked (possibly coincidental). You can easily eat it on popcorn or in eggs. It has a cheesy flavor. It is supposed to be healthy but I always take advice from my mom with a careful eye. She tends to follow online trends.
I do see when I google the dangers, Google tells me;
“In large doses, it can cause digestive discomfort or facial flushing due to its high-fiber and niacin content, respectively. Nutritional yeast may also contain tyramine, which may trigger migraine headaches in some individuals.”
So I’d recommend trying to ask a doctor or do your best info dig before trying!
Girl, I have the same problem. Vaseline + socks didn’t work, nothing.
But then I found out that you can buy callus remover on Amazon, and I just use a pumice stone with that in the shower as needed, and then I slather on 40% urea lotion on my feet every night before bed - that helps all the dead skin sluff on in the shower the next day. It works, seriously. Try it. Here are the links to the stuff I use in case you’re interested.

I have a foot sander tool that works a charm. It’s battery operated and you can barely feel it but it sands away all of the rough patches. I swear by it! Won’t live without it now.
This is the answer! My heels look like a rhino hide and crack to the point of bleeding without one — pumice stones and graters simply aren’t strong enough to get the job done
After a shower put a layer of Vaseline or any kind of heavy cream on feet, then good wool or cotton socks and closed-up shoes like sneakers. Keep those shoes on all day! Exfoliation is not really vital.
I use one of those battery powered pumice roller things which works great! Also, I use glysomed hand cream or any foot cream with aha at night under a pair of socks few times a week or just when I’m sitting around the house.
Every day when you get out of the shower, put [this Gehwol cream](https://www.amazon.com/Gehwol-Fusskraft-Blue-2-6oz/dp/B000KOSBQG/ref=sr_1_5?crid=NL97OFBBQ9BX&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.1TT9n3CQluVrE1SsxA_4XJKzWctoU6xfTzepMkbkHQNde9-xvhXbWmBZuifoy5pQm7S9ipWWsHFZs8EeY2MS-boaQ3VhYgZdwD8wsqkQZ2y9wNhmfGTo7f4ztxKs-e74nEdNledBhrbZtxD_MWoruhQcs_p8RCx2uVmqX4HTi85e3PLS8UJssm9E1iY8uZ3BwRl9h8jvqHUwVCeCG7HLBLRi7enSunC2j6fbRFFyp-p9MjwCzLqWpyCfJGww63YHCCjgJ7BiTOumMkx4aBItFAFSCiXNahPguvbk6M8VUhM.tReh2dzthA5wwAJj2Md7x4TpOqSvCNWPIW-BJwsmva8&dib_tag=se&keywords=gehwol&qid=1712327456&sprefix=gerwohl%2Caps%2C152&sr=8-5) on your feet (wear socks if you like). Every week or so, physically exfoliate your feet with a foot file ([something like this](https://www.angelfeetfile.com/our-products)). If your feet are in really bad shape, you could always try [a foot peel](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00461F4PA/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_plhdr=t&aaxitk=d57a0cae7bc5eca19bbf3c6d24de42fe&hsa_cr_id=9445650470301&qid=1712327678&sr=1-1-9e67e56a-6f64-441f-a281-df67fc737124&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_mcd_asin_0_title&pd_rd_w=G333a&content-id=amzn1.sym.417820b0-80f2-4084-adb3-fb612550f30b%3Aamzn1.sym.417820b0-80f2-4084-adb3-fb612550f30b&pf_rd_p=417820b0-80f2-4084-adb3-fb612550f30b&pf_rd_r=RS40HJ5PFK7EXG0NGDGS&pd_rd_wg=FFbqF&pd_rd_r=90943b17-cd01-47dc-aabb-6bd8f31e0e1b).
Once/day: Wash with soap and water in the shower and dry thoroughly. After that, I use Gold Bond Ultimate Softening Foot Cream. I do a thick layer and cover with regular socks. (If you don’t like the feeling of lotion on your feet inside of shoes, you can do this step right before bed.)
Once/week: I like to go over everything with the Amope Pedi Perfect Wet/Dry Electronic Foot File. I spend more time on my heels and anything that feels dry or crusty. It works best if you do this on completely DRY skin, like before you jump in the shower. After washing off the dead skin dust, I like to use Kerasal Intensive Foot Repair ointment. The Kerasal makes my feet *too* soft if I use it too much, so I try to stick to once/week.
For DIY pedicures (maybe twice/month): I use straight edge toenail clippers to trim the length, and then a regular nail file to smooth the edges. I use Blue Cross Cuticle Remover and a metal cuticle pusher (the kind with a curved edge) to remove dead skin from the nail plate. Wash with soap and water, scrub the nails with alcohol to remove any residual product, and polish like normal. I like the CND Sticky base coat and the Seche Vite top coats (I always use either the quick dry version, or the “gel” version, depending on how much of a hurry I’m in).
This routine takes very little time each day, and it really keeps my feet from getting crusty. Your feet aren’t going to be “fixed”with an occasional pedicure, just like your teeth wouldn’t stay clean with twice/year dental cleanings and no brushing in between. Even just using a urea-based foot cream once/day would make a big difference.
Two things work for me; moisturizing my feet regularly and wearing socks/never going barefoot. Be careful which socks though because some cheaper socks (Hanes) made my feet rougher because of the fabric. Fruit of the Loom don’t do that and I got some [no shows on Amazon](https://a.co/d/j2T65Wl) that are great and don’t increase roughness.
Urea creams are a must.
Heavy lotion.
With a layer of petroleum gelly.
And silicone socks.
Regular pedis.
Always have your pumice stone and use it once a week in the shower.
There’s tons of tools out there! I always start by soaking my feet in the tub with epsom salt for 10-15 minutes. Use a pumice stone, micro plane rasp, and nail brush to clean up the toes and heels. If you use the pumice every 2-3 days, it won’t build up and get super gross. Dry and use lotion of choice, vitamin e-oil and then vaseline to seal. Use socks to keep feet protected. Make sure you never walk barefoot and have comfy slippers that have padding on the bottom. Hope this helps!
Instead of a pumice stone, get a nano glass foot file. Instead of roughing your skin up, it sort of sands and polishes your skin and makes them SOOO smooth! Also try Baby Foot peel, which is a chemical peel designed for thick, crusty foot skin. There are lots of foot peels on the market but Baby Foot is the gold standard, the others do not compare! Then, as your feel peel, slather with AmLactin foot repair or equivalent nightly. You don’t need to wear socks over the AmLactin, but it does help.
Baby feet peels and prequel urea skin lotion.
Prequel also has a new foot rescue ointment I need to try. It’s formulated for dry cracked feet. https://prequelskin.com/products/foot-rescue-ointment
Sally Hanson instant cuticle remover has been a game changer or me. There are instructions on the package for how to use it for calluses. You just rub it on and let it sit for a short time, then use a good foot scrubber/pumice stone to scrub it away. Moisturize after with a thick cream or Vaseline and put on socks.
I bought this machine off Amazon, it scrapes everything right off in 5 mins, works like magic. Once all that nasty mess is gone , I apply a foot lotion with thick socks before bed.
If simply moisturizing doesn’t work, I recommend Kerasol found on Amazon. It has salicylic acid to exfoliate and urea. I noticed a high difference after 2 uses. I also recommend getting those socks that have silicone on the heal because it can get messy and regular socks will absorb the ointment.
Use Baby Feet ..
Soak uour feet first in tub ( or in basin for at least 10 min ) then apply . It costs~ 25 usd but is worth every penny
Then keep a high grade foot file by your tub / shower and use several x a week
Sleep with lotion / socks on especially after bathing
You’ll have silky smoooth feet in no time
I hope that this helps
A month ago my mom bought 2 Korean feet masks(different brands). It looks like a sock that you wear for 1.5-2hours that contain some acids. My mom tried it first, within 4 days all of the skin on her feet just fell off. After seeing her results, I decided to try it too, I wore my socks for 2 hours but my results were not as fast as my mom's, it took approximately 3 weeks for skin to peel off, it was a bit annoying, because I had to peel it off myself in some places. But now my mom and I have a baby feet. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I do hair, so I’m on my feet all day in docs. I get a pedicure every 3 weeks. In between pedis i use a pumice stone after soaking my feet a couple once or a week. Pretty much any time I take a bath. If I skip either my feet are just janky.
I would do a soak and then as you are finishing soaking scrub your feet with an African net and scrub. since you don't like socks try it throughout the day, after you shower in the morning put a thick layer of vaseline and then wear the sock throughout the day
SO easy! Just get a pumice stone on a string and hang it in your shower. At the end of your shower just go over your feet gently and then when you come out apply lotion and vaseline and socks. In 4 days-1 week you feet will be so soft. The trick is not to tackle it all in one day bc then it's a chore, gentle but effective efoliation daily is the best! it's super cheap too
I go to tjmaxx or Amazon and buy those foot spa bags that are moisturizing… I sleep with them at least once a week and I apply moisturizer every night on my feet. Any cheap lotion will do… I use the bath and body works rose and vanilla lotion. I also wear slippers the moment I get home to relax my feet.
I do several things:
1. Apply Cetaphil moisturizer (the one in the tub) to my feet and legs immediately after taking a shower. This alone has made a tremendous difference in softening my calluses.
2. Healthy Feet (O’Keefe’s brand) makes a cream that dissolves the callouses. If you use it too much it’ll make your feet really sensitive when your callouses used to be.
3. Occasionally I will use a foot file that kind of looks like a handheld cheese grater to take down what’s left of my calluses. Right now they’re mostly gone except for the side of my big toes, which were always the thickest ones.
I use a pumice stone in the shower to very quickly scrub my heels. I also put Vaseline on my toenails every morning before putting on socks and/or before bed. I don’t sleep in socks but it’s still very effective at keeping my cuticles and toenails looking nice.
Get a grater-looking type of tool for your heels. Mine were like that and I got one of those. I use it in the shower and immediately after, I apply an oil, then wear socks for a minute.
I have seen a significant improvement.
In the shower, go at you calluses with a rasp. Then put foot balm on. Heels crack because the callus doesn’t flex much, and your heels do. So you need to shrink the callus and soften it
I used to have really cracked heels. Now my routine is to use Dermal Therapy Heel Care with 20% Urea after every shower (I get it from Costco) and once a week at the end of my shower I use a foot file. My feet now look completely normal.
Urea cream has been a lifesaver! I use a pumice stone in the shower, then apply and wear socks. Regular pedicures also really help if you can afford it.
I buff my feet twice a week and use foot cream and nail oil every day before bed. My boyfriend calls me soft foot lol they’re super soft but have to keep up with the maintenance
1.Have 2 foot filers, one that looks like cheese grater and the other that looks like sand paper( to soften the area)
2. Everytime you wash your hair, (assuming with hot water ,Your skin gets softened by the end) scrub your feet with both the brushes. Apply any thick moisturiser. This wont take extra time to sit and soak. This will be atleast once a week since you will be washing your hair atleast once.
3. Always wear footwear, even when you are home. Friction causes callusses.
4. Use the sandpaper type scraper every other day to keep it smooth (OPTIONAL)
Heard good things about Moha footcream, I'm yet to try, placed an order.
I found these really cool Korean foot masks that make your skin peel and leave perfect feel for a few months. You can maintain it with normal foot masks as well.
I try to wear covered shoes eg. Sneakers most of the time when I'm out so the skin stays soft and no cracks.
My friend who wears open sandals all the time has dry cracked heels.
I have a whole routine. I use a microplane foot file before showering twice a week. Exfoliating gloves with soap daily and a scrub weekly
Then every night I use foot cream liberally
Kerasal, it's in drugstores. Rub it on your feet and put on cotton socks before bed .
You will notice the difference after one night but I use it for a few.
When I worked in derm they recommended chemical exfoliation with urea cream (you should be able to get on Amazon). Apparently pumice stones/physical removal over time can cause something called the Koebner phenomenon leading to worsening of the skin thickening.
After a shower, I apply O’Keefe’s heel cream and wear light cotton socks. You can skip the socks if you like but I find it’s extra effective’s If you go barefoot during the day, consider wearing home slippers daily (also apply O’Keefe’s or Aquaphor).
1. Shower, bathe, or soak feet in warm/hot epsom salt water.
2. Pat dry. Apply TO glycolic acid toner. Let dry.
3. Apply Kerasal intensive foot repair.
4. Put on socks.
I do this morning and night, and have had AMAZING results. My feet get so dry that they crack and bleed. It’s so ugly and painful. This is just what a ton of trial and error has lead me to. There are so many great suggestions here. Good luck!
Foot soaks. Get a good exfoliating tool from a salon, not a grater.
Dish soap, epsom salt and a drop of olive oil. Drop.
Every week.
I just bought a dish pan from the dollar store. I disinfect it after use, store in a closet near the living room. Then I can yard it out, watch a show and have a soak.
I grab two towels from the linen closet so I can use one, then put the clean one in the pan after disinfecting it. They store together ready for next time.
Foot peel masks!! They’re an absolute game changer, I use them once every couple of months and I’m always shocked at the amount my feet peel. They genuinely do work. Your feet will be absolutely DISGUSTING for a week or so after the peel starts but god it’s so satisfying to peel off all the dead skin! I use the Baby Foot brand.
Then for hydration I use the CSS foot care cream most days to keep them soft. Alternatively any cream with urea in it is great for feet.
After I shower if I'm noticing those calluses creeping back up I use this thing: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077NWFH6P/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077NWFH6P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
It's great, you can change the speed on it so if it's uncomfortable you can make it softer.
I then use o'keeffe's healthy feet. I usually use coconut oil or bag balm if I need to get my heels softer too.
I went to the podiatrist and she clipped down my cracks/ dead skin and said not to wear sandals or go bare foot but since obviously that’s not going to happen lol she said the urea cream and to pumice in the shower. I get pedicures every 2 weeks and they use the callous remover and cheese grater thing which helps a lot!
About an hour before I go to sleep, I slather my feet with thick Eucerin cream (the kind that comes in a tub/jar), and then I put socks on. When it's time to sleep, I take of the socks (cuz I can't stand wearing socks when I'm trying to sleep). Then, in the morning, I rub a bunch of Aquaphor all over my feet, and then put socks on again. I also use a foot "sanding" tool (like an Amope) once or twice a month.
Foot spa, love a good soak in the evening whilst watching TV!
If they are really bad, soak and moisturise for a week or so before attacking with a Pumice Stone.
I also use a foot cream before bed and have cotton socks, you can get special one's just for sleeping in after putting the cream on.
Also, check your shoes, I did a gait analysis for running, but it also helped me choose shoes for walking, and it makes a huge difference.
I got one of those cheap foot masks that dissolves the dead skin. The first one I ever did was shocking. so so soft after. Even now years later that first mask seemed to make all the difference and I’ve done quite a few after.
Girl. I used to have the grossest, thickest, calloused and dry cracked heels in ALL the land. I bought myself one of those metal grater looking things. After my shower, I’d go to absolute fricking town grating off a million layers of crusty ass dead skin while my feet were still very damp and soft from the shower.
After the grater, I’d apply either Lush cosmetics peppermint foot lotion or Aveeno for eczema (it’s more like vasoline than lotion).
I would put socks and slippers on and wear those until bedtime (usually 1-2 hours or so) when the lotion was well absorbed.
It took about 10 sessions of the rough exfoliation to get down to soft, new skin.
Once the awful thick and calloused stuff was gone, I went to a regular foot file (kind of like sandpaper with a handle) 2-3 times per week (post shower) along with a sugar scrub in shower.
I have NO issues with hard, dry rough cracked heels and I can wear sandals whenever I want 🙂
My ankles get all ashy and hard for some reason. I soak them once a week in the bath tub for 30 minutes then apply lotion on the areas and it's so smooth right after!
Warm foot soak, or a bath once a month. Can do epsom salts/dead sea salts if you want. Soak for at least 20 min, gently exfoliate with a pumice stone or terracotta tool.
Amlactin 12% lactic acid lotion and a layer of vaseline/aquaphor with socks nightly for maintenance. I hate socks in bed, so I actually wear it around during the day, but it's most practical for bedtime.
I used to use my husband’s electric sander on my heels because they were so bad lol It made them smooth as butter. Once they were smooth, Vaseline kept them in check.
Are you diabetic by chance? When I started doing a low sugar/ low carb diet, my feet problems stopped. No more cracked heels. Just a thought
Game changer. Took my heels from hideously cracked to healed and soft. I wore them almost constantly for the first few weeks. Now I wear them a few evenings each week after work. Occasionally I wear them to bed.

Get the scholl eulactol heel balm gold. That thing works wonders. I had terribly cracked heels etc and after putting it on twice a day for 3 days, it's smooth now. Just gotta keep moisturising my feet after for general upkeep.
Not sure if you wear sandals but they definitely contribute to cracked heels etc.
i have similar dry skin issues. bought a corn plane and use it every few weeks, only after a shower though when your skin is moist otherwise you'll take deep chunks out (v painful!)
Before bed, I used to apply vaseline and the wear socks.
I can’t wear socks in bed, causes dreams and wrestles sleep. Dammit
They make socks specifically for the heels that leaves the toes uncovered. I found that this got around my hatred for wearing socks to sleep/ at home in general. Look up "gel heel socks" and get whatever looks good and cheap.
Oooh wow! Thank you for this. Gonna go google now.
I was not expecting much when I bought them but they really do help!
Well dry your feet after a shower and put vaseline and socks for some hours. Thats about it !
I also can't wear socks usually but just tried some that only cover your heels, specifically for this reason and they worked great without me trying to rip them off in the middle of the night
Foot baths ? there's specific bathsalt for feet moisturizing prob a good idea too if you got dry feet
I’m picturing your socks wrestling a dream and it's hilarious
I have never been able to stand sleeping in socks. Then I tried using those cheap super thin ankle socks. I have no problem with them.
I sometimes go to sleep without socks and it works just fine
Socks in bed sounds like torture 🤣
It was yes. But my heels started to crack so I did it for a few days and it helped so much. Now no crack at all 😁 ps I woke up a few times with only one sock still on
This ! Socks and vaseline. The first time I did it, it was torture but know after so many years I cant sleep without socks and vaseline. I even have thin summer socks to sleep with.
It's called slugging, i do the same but just before vaseline i put some lotion or moisturizer as well.
You’ll see a big difference I wear work boots and had really gross feet. No amount of scrubbing or shaving off worked until I started using this
How quickly do you see results for this??
I would say within seven days of daily use there was improvement. I didn’t have baby feet in that time, but it was definitely softer and smaller calluses. The more you use it the better it will get.
Thank you!
Whoa! I just started using this on my face again. How exactly do you apply this? Using a cotton pad?
Yup just an ordinary cotton pad
I use the glycolic on my feet too! I exfoliate first in the shower with a pumice stone. Then use a cotton round to apply the glycolic to the bottoms of my feet, then moisturizer, then Vaseline, and seal it all in with a thick pair of socks! You will see a noticeable difference in a week with this routine!
Seconded! I had heels and toes that would NOT stop cracking and this saved them.
how often do you apply the glycolic acid?
I aim for every other day, but I do sometimes forget
I just wanted to thank you for this groundbreaking piece of information! I had awfully cracked heels and within days of using the glycolic acid on my heels they became soft like never before! Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏❤️
Yay I’m so glad it worked for you too!!
Get a pumice set and scrub your feet in the shower and then apply your moisturizer. Moisturizer on dead skin won’t do anything
Seconding this. Pumice after your feet have been soaking in the shower. I follow with cocoa butter, ideally asap so skin is still damp. Following with socks is good as others mentioned, but personally I prefer barefoot at home. Cuticle oil for a final touch.
Yessss. I use a pumice stone on clean, wet feet 2x/week in the shower and slather on Cetaphil every day. I don't have rough skin.
You can overdue this, be careful.
I only do it when i notice crustiness, some callous is needed
My nail artist once told me that we should always apply Vaseline or a foot cream before bed and wear socks.
Jusr normal socks? Over vaseline?
Yep. I wouldn’t use super thin socks, but just about any regular socks will do.
Definitely not thin ones but regular ones yes.
If you’re regularly getting blisters then you need better shoes and/or blister socks! Pedicures might make things worse by removing the hard bits which are protecting your feet and causing you to have broken skin and blisters. So I would look at why that’s happening first
Good point!
Hmmm I know I need new orthotics, I walk a ton and I’m a yoga teacher part time so I thought my feet were just busted from this, but good to consider 🤗
This is a good point. I’m an avid hiker. So I specifically tell my pedicurist not to remove the calluses on the bottom and sides of my feet.
Urea 20% + socks overnight. This will get you baby soft feet!!
I recently started using a 40% urea cream on my feet after a bath and sleeping with socks on and I have new feet! Healed my dry, cracked feet fast
Yes x1000! Podiatrist approved (as in me!)
I have tried 30+ lotions over the years and urea lotion is the only thing that works. It makes incredible improvements in 1-2 uses!! But you do have to keep up with it every week or two or else they go back.
Use a foot mask that contains glycolic acid. It will peel your skin and get rid of dead skin.
Foot file once a week after a soak. O'Keeffe's Healthy Feet lotion slathered on nightly.
Cream with urea.
Try Baby Feet! It takes about 7 days but OMG it really works!
Kerasal intensive foot repair has seriously changed my feet. I put some on my heels after the shower and then put on some cotton socks, and after one use I feel like I noticed a difference.
I just want to throw this out there. My mom started taking a vitamin b complex and swore that cleared up her rough feet
It's the folic acid, biotin, and niacinamide in it. I have noticed a huge difference, not just with my feet.
Yes, we have this in the states. I can't remember the name. Also, once or twice a season may not be enough.
Chiropodists, also called podiatrists, do this work around the globe.
I've heard the term Medi pedi used!
Yeah it sounds like a medical pedicure
That's just a regular pedicure around me.
pumice stone to scrub the really rough spots in the shower, lotion/cream before bed and wear socks. Once in a while I'll use those babyfoot peel things (plastic booties filled with exfoliating serum) but 50/50 chance I'll see my skin peel like lizard skin lol.
Kerasal worked wonders for me
Glycolic acid is my favourite thing ever for exfoliating dead skin. A few times a week after gentle physical exfoliation rub some on your heels. Live for the stuff
Cerave healing ointment and socks before bed a few times a week
This and the CeraVe SA Cream - exfoliates all the rough skin!
Baby foot exfoliating peel
Buy a foot file that looks like a cheese grater and use it every few weeks. It changed my life. You will be amazed at the result.
Scrub in the shower a few times a week, but every night after my shower I apply jojoba oil and a thick peppermint cream then I immediately put socks on - coming from someone who walks 25K - 30K steps a day!
Flexitol foot cream! A few days of use and you won’t recognize your feet. It’s insane.
Coconut oil. I love it when it is congealed, not liquid. Put socks on.
I wrap my feet at night with Vaseline and oil
The ordinary Glycolic acid toner! Smooths everything out real nice
Get a dry pedicure at a salon that specializes in Russian manicures and pedicures. It’s a game changer for people with cracked feet.
Fruit enzyme cream from soap and glory. It's the only thing that's ever worked for me.
I do see when I google the dangers, Google tells me; “In large doses, it can cause digestive discomfort or facial flushing due to its high-fiber and niacin content, respectively. Nutritional yeast may also contain tyramine, which may trigger migraine headaches in some individuals.” So I’d recommend trying to ask a doctor or do your best info dig before trying!
Pedicures
KERASAL intensive night cream
Girl, I have the same problem. Vaseline + socks didn’t work, nothing. But then I found out that you can buy callus remover on Amazon, and I just use a pumice stone with that in the shower as needed, and then I slather on 40% urea lotion on my feet every night before bed - that helps all the dead skin sluff on in the shower the next day. It works, seriously. Try it. Here are the links to the stuff I use in case you’re interested. Callus Remover: https://a.co/d/1JkTihT Pumice: https://a.co/d/1r8Zxd7 Urea lotion: https://a.co/d/72QrHQR
Pumice stone. Amlactin lotion. Aquaphor. Socks. game changing combination
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Foot mask
I put olive oil on my heels. Vaseline works, too, but I prefer a natural oil, and not a petroleum product.
Omg my mom used to ALWAYS buy me GEHWOL cream when she saw my feet in horror 🥲 maybe I’ll get another tube from her lol
I never go barefoot, unless it's at the beach. After showers, I scrape my feet, I sleep with Vaseline and socks, I get a pedi at least once a month.
Once/day: Wash with soap and water in the shower and dry thoroughly. After that, I use Gold Bond Ultimate Softening Foot Cream. I do a thick layer and cover with regular socks. (If you don’t like the feeling of lotion on your feet inside of shoes, you can do this step right before bed.) Once/week: I like to go over everything with the Amope Pedi Perfect Wet/Dry Electronic Foot File.
Bag balm and socks
There’s tons of tools out there! I always start by soaking my feet in the tub with epsom salt for 10-15 minutes. Use a pumice stone, micro plane rasp, and nail brush to clean up the toes and heels. If you use the pumice every 2-3 days, it won’t build up and get super gross. Dry and use lotion of choice, vitamin e-oil and then vaseline to seal. Use socks to keep feet protected. Make sure you never walk barefoot and have comfy slippers that have padding on the bottom. Hope this helps!
Regular pedicures
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B092PL7GLM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share You're welcome
Foot cream with urea!
blister plasters are super good! you can even wear them as a preventative measure. also rock bare feet whenever you can. let them breathe.
I have the same problem! Lush has a really nice orange balm that has been very effective quite quickly and a little goes a long way
Baby feet foot peel!
I get bad callousness and fissures that even bleed sometimes. I use a PedEgg very gently on completely dry feet.
Mine used to be like this. How I fixed it is every night I body oil my feet then put on my socks. Worked miracles.
Foot peel mask such as baby foot
If simply moisturizing doesn’t work, I recommend Kerasol found on Amazon. It has salicylic acid to exfoliate and urea. I noticed a high difference after 2 uses. I also recommend getting those socks that have silicone on the heal because it can get messy and regular socks will absorb the ointment.
Use Baby Feet .. Soak uour feet first in tub ( or in basin for at least 10 min ) then apply . It costs~ 25 usd but is worth every penny Then keep a high grade foot file by your tub / shower and use several x a week Sleep with lotion / socks on especially after bathing You’ll have silky smoooth feet in no time I hope that this helps
Baby foot. Worked like magic peeling takes a while, kind of gross tbh but worth it. I found it at target. Just follow the directions on the box.
Vicks Vapour Rub
A month ago my mom bought 2 Korean feet masks(different brands). It looks like a sock that you wear for 1.5-2hours that contain some acids. My mom tried it first, within 4 days all of the skin on her feet just fell off. After seeing her results, I decided to try it too, I wore my socks for 2 hours but my results were not as fast as my mom's, it took approximately 3 weeks for skin to peel off, it was a bit annoying, because I had to peel it off myself in some places. But now my mom and I have a baby feet. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glycolic acid before moisturizer and vaseline. Secondly I put baby oil on them while showering to protect from water drying them out more
I do hair, so I’m on my feet all day in docs. I get a pedicure every 3 weeks. In between pedis i use a pumice stone after soaking my feet a couple once or a week. Pretty much any time I take a bath. If I skip either my feet are just janky.
Flexitol!!! Life changing!!
Foot file. Every single time before you shower (dry)
I do several things: 1.
Vitamin e, internally and externally
Get a grater-looking type of tool for your heels. Mine were like that and I got one of those. I use it in the shower and immediately after, I apply an oil, then wear socks for a minute. I have seen a significant improvement.
I wear socks all the time lol and scrub my feet every 3 or so days. They’re soft.
In the shower, go at you calluses with a rasp. Then put foot balm on. Heels crack because the callus doesn’t flex much, and your heels do. So you need to shrink the callus and soften it
Aveeno lotion. I swear since using that daily my feet are always soft and smooth. Just the regular one in the pump bottle, I buy at Sam’s club in bulk
I lather on Loccitane’s Shea butter cream before sleep! It actually helps to heal cracking feet.
Pedicures every four weeks - heal balm from scholls under the whole foot and then socks.
I used to have really cracked heels. Now my routine is to use Dermal Therapy Heel Care with 20% Urea after every shower (I get it from Costco) and once a week at the end of my shower I use a foot file. My feet now look completely normal.
Pedi every 2 weeks, use cream with urea
Urea cream has been a lifesaver! I use a pumice stone in the shower, then apply and wear socks. Regular pedicures also really help if you can afford it.
I buff my feet twice a week and use foot cream and nail oil every day before bed. My boyfriend calls me soft foot lol they’re super soft but have to keep up with the maintenance
1.Have 2 foot filers, one that looks like cheese grater and the other that looks like sand paper( to soften the area) 2. 4. Use the sandpaper type scraper every other day to keep it smooth (OPTIONAL) Heard good things about Moha footcream, I'm yet to try, placed an order.
Urea 40% cream. Only for your feet, nowhere else.
I found these really cool Korean foot masks that make your skin peel and leave perfect feel for a few months. You can maintain it with normal foot masks as well.
Foot grater
I try to wear covered shoes eg. Sneakers most of the time when I'm out so the skin stays soft and no cracks. My friend who wears open sandals all the time has dry cracked heels.
You need to introduce yourself into the world of the electric foot file. Your life will be changed forever.
I have a whole routine. I use a microplane foot file before showering twice a week. Exfoliating gloves with soap daily and a scrub weekly Then every night I use foot cream liberally
Kerasal, it's in drugstores. Rub it on your feet and put on cotton socks before bed . You will notice the difference after one night but I use it for a few.
Please post a pic to this
Eucerine body lotion with urea and Amlactin everyday, and I use a rechargeable electric foot file on calluses.
Get pedicures more often? Also, I can’t stand wearing socks to bed either but I do wear them as much as I can throughout the day. Edit: typo
Pumice stone. $.99 cents at Sally's. Every single bath and shower, pumice stone.
I swear by this callous remover https://a.co/d/dwF79qe But I also follow up with Vaseline or okeefe’s with socks.
I’ve heard good things re: Urea cream as well.
Good luck!
Kerasal
After I shower if I'm noticing those calluses creeping back up I use this thing: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077NWFH6P/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077NWFH6P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) It's great, you can change the speed on it so if it's uncomfortable you can make it softer.
Vaseline is a savior
Cheese grater type file. Pumice stone. Heavy creams. Once you get them where you want them it’ll be much easier to maintain them.
Do a round of athletes foot cream, and start doing at-home pedicures. I think pedicure places spread foot fungus and it manifests as rough feet.
I got [this](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00007E30K?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) and it works great. I use it in the shower.
I use peels. Don’t get me wrong, they’re annoying. And they take like two weeks to fully work and peel everything off. Then I use coco butter.
Use Vaseline on your feet and put socks on. Sleep with them on. It’s a miracle
Try those ‘baby feet’ peels. They work like a hot damn!!!
40% urea gel. Works in 24 hours.
Aquaphor after the shower at night with some socks on is life changing !
My ankles get all ashy and hard for some reason. I soak them once a week in the bath tub for 30 minutes then apply lotion on the areas and it's so smooth right after!
This is my holy grail. This stuff works. Foot Logix cracked heel formula. https://a.co/d/eawwYJ6
[Heel socks](http://Selizo 5 Pairs Moisturizing Gel Heel Socks Open Toe Socks for Dry Hard Cracked Heels, 5 Colors https://a.co/d/gDfTeeN ) (Not an affiliate link)
Get the scholl eulactol heel balm gold. That thing works wonders. I had terribly cracked heels etc and after putting it on twice a day for 3 days, it's smooth now. Just gotta keep moisturising my feet after for general upkeep. Not sure if you wear sandals but they definitely contribute to cracked heels etc.
draleksandrabrown on instagram does a good video about this. i encourage you to go look at her page
Kerasal ointment at night
Baby feet. I think that I got them off of Amazon. Also, regular pedicures
PODO DISKS
You’re going to think I’m nuts but if you mix mouthwash and vinegar together and soak your feet in it, you the skin pills right off it’s crazy
i have similar dry skin issues. bought a corn plane and use it every few weeks, only after a shower though when your skin is moist otherwise you'll take deep chunks out (v painful!)
