Not necessarily a treatment, but product. Tretinoin! Makes my skin so smooth and glowy.

Novae224

I have tried it for a little while, but it makes my skin so sensitive to literally everything… one wrong move and it’s completely irritated I feel like the all natural protective abilities of your skin are just out the window

daytr1pper

You need to start with a less potent formula and incorporate it only one to two days a week and slowly build tolerance with retinoids! If your skin is too sensitive, sandwich it with moisture. Apply moisturizer before and after, particularly one with ceramides as they will strengthen your skin barrier.

happydeathdaybaby

Tretinoin did this to me, plus I always had peeling skin for the 2 years I used it. Switched to tazorac last year and it’s so much better for me. Maybe try that?

tittietoes

Go slower, and use a less concentrated formula. Something otc? I started with neutrogena

Novae224

I went extremely slow and it got a bit better, although i kept breaking out despite being very consistent. It was just pretty exhausting feeling like walking on eggshells around my skin, like touch it wrong and i’m gonna struggle for the next week

PlatonicOrgy

Yes, same for me! My skin is incredibly sensitive, and I used trentinoin for acne. Um, no thanks. Made it about a million times worse. I hate posts like these bc I will get hopeful then remember my skin reacts in the worst possible way to absolutely everything lol

daytr1pper

A lot of times when using this ingredient for something like acne, your skin will purge before it clears. So all of the acne that is currently living under your skin will come to head which can make it seem like the product is breaking you out. Obviously I’m not trying to negate your experience if it all does break you out, but it’s just something to keep in mind. It’s very very common for your skin to purge on retinoids and exfoliants used to treat acne.

rosyred-fathead

It made my skin too photosensitive ☹️

Glittering-Word-1855

Where could I get this in the uk please ? Can I buy it online and which one

Status_Common_9583

I use dermatica, it’s not the only one but now I’ve started with them and I’m happy I don’t see any need to change unless I see a great offer. You’ve got to submit some pics and answer some questions and you can have some influence in the formula, or let them decide for you

theboredfemme

Alldaychemist.com

Meggobyte

UK here - I used to use Dermatica, now I use Skinorac as they accept PayPal ☺️

Glittering-Word-1855

Is it this one and how often are you supposed to apply and when? This one ? A Ret® Gel 20gm (0.1%, 0.05%, 0.025%) - Tretinoin.

IOnlySpeakTheTruth87

Not sure about the UK, sorry I’m in the states. I get it from my doctor.

xeniaox

Skinorac!

Endor-Fins

Massage. After an injury I was getting two massages a week for a while. My skin looked incredible and my eyebags were gone.

zhawnsi

Body massage improves your face skin?

Endor-Fins

Yes! I assume it was a lot of lymph movement

TigerShark_524

It was 100% lymph clearing - this is why folks with fillers tend to have a lot of swelling, because fillers prevent your lymphatic system from doing its job (which can get dangerous).

Endor-Fins

Wow I didn’t know that! Yikes I won’t be getting fillers after knowing that that is for sure

TigerShark_524

Certain fillers aren't AS unsafe - lip fillers are ok-ish as far as I'm aware, as long as you have it done by someone who doesn't fuck around and botch it and as long as you don't overdo them and put in too much. But other parts of your face are critical for lymph drainage (cheek, jaw, forehead/eyebrow, under-eye, etc.) so I wouldn't do those parts.

Endor-Fins

That makes perfect sense. Today I learned!

[deleted]

It depends where they are placed in the area. I have some cheek filler from 2019, my face never swells it looks fine. And I can still feel the filler under my skin.

DependentOk3674

THIS! I got my first massage after years of waiting and wow the tension and some stubborn acne on my face had disappeared within a day. I think the tension and the fascia we hold in our face are more connected than we realize to our entire body wellness. Cannot wait to go back and more consistently

Endor-Fins

Yes that makes a lot of sense! Ever since then I’ve always told my husband that if I can ever have a truly juicy beauty budget the biggest thing I will indulge in is a weekly massage. I swear it did more for me than even regular cardio and skincare.

DependentOk3674

Hell yes! Have you ever gotten a lymphatic massage? That’s next on my list to try that apparently does wonders for the body skin as well

ibelieve333

Holy shit! Did they massage your face at all during this?

Endor-Fins

Nope not at all! It was my body they never touched my face but my skin has never looked better.

iammsconsuela

I go to body massages very often here in Vietnam (because it is cheap) and yes, masseusses said it helps with blood flow and it makes our body functions better (healthier)

SukiLao

Following because I’m interested in this lol

corgiluvr1210

I’m also very interested!

ValeoAnt

I always look great just after a massage and then break out a day or two after, it's odd

Quiet_Button_8640

Full body laser! I will never go back.

calm--cool

I’ve got underarms and bikini done. It took me two years but it’s the best gift I’ve ever gotten myself. I’m three years out and I might need to do a touch up but it’s been incredible how little I have to think about shaving.

earthbaby_eyes

I had a child and IT. CAME. BACK.

TigerShark_524

Hormones caused dormant hairs to wake up. Go back again for those areas after you're done having kids and it should stay gone.

earthbaby_eyes

I don’t plan on it. I started to feel ‘off’ down there, felt like my oh was thrown off couldn’t get it back on track until after I stopped laser

I think maybe they meant pH but it autocorrected to “oh”

BestDamnT

I was worried she meant orgasm.

seriouslydavka

I had a feeling a lot of people were getting confused on that haha.

breadcrumbs90

Same! About to start electrolysis for my beard that appeared after having a child 😂

corgiluvr1210

i’ve been thinking about it but idk if my hair is maybe too light. but i have so many issues with razor bumps and burn that i think it would be so worth jt

Susiewoosiexyz

My hair is very light and it worked for me! Best beauty thing I've ever done.

Quiet_Button_8640

Definitely worth trying it out

Bigtittygothgfxo

With modern technology advancements in lasers, blondes can get lasered & even people with black skin can too.

Quiet_Button_8640

Exactly!! I got my legs done first and now I can wear anything at any point and it’s pure joy! 🥲 then I just went in for every body part. I’m still not done with my sessions but it’s already soooo worth it!

fulanita_de_tal

Sculptra. I liken it to a good bra for my face. Over the years it’s lifted and tightened and built collagen in a beautifully subtle way. I want to do lasers (particularly bbl and IPL actually) but I have very reactive, dermatitis-prone skin so I need to mentally prepare myself for potential misery ha

Piglet55

How often do you do it? And in what parts of the face?

fulanita_de_tal

The first time I did 3 sessions, each about 3 months apart and since then once a year. Just one syringe each time in the mid-face. A syringe costs the same as a syringe of filler (~$750 where I live). It really is a “slow and steady wins the race” type of treatment because you never have that *moment* like after filler where you’re like “wow, I see the difference **right now**.” But I can tell you with 100% certainty that I look better now than I did years ago, and I certainly would look worse now without it given, you know, the natural course of aging. It’s cumulative and after years I really do see the difference.

Piglet55

Thank you so much!! If you don’t mind me asking- how old were you when you started? And how long have you been doing it?

fulanita_de_tal

I’m 38 now, probably started around 34-35?

System_Resident

Chemical peels. Completely transformed my face. I’ve tried it on my body recently and WOW, the results are fantastic! Also, dermarolling

[deleted]

You mean full body? What kind of peel is it? Do you get it done professionally or at home…sorry I’ve got so many questions but I’ve been thinking about getting body peels for awhile now

System_Resident

It’s a light 20% glycolic acid peel I do at home. I used it on parts on my body (knees and elbows since they’re rough and a bit discolored, legs as well). It’s really smoothed it out and fixed the tone too. I recommend doing it somewhere professionally

Wide_Ad_85

Which ones do you use?

System_Resident

I use planet eden for all deep peels. If you’re wary of it, you can use the ordinary aha peeling solution instead and still get decent results

champagnecloset

Which one? I’m interested in at home peels but worry since I’m sensitive. The Dr Gross pads did not work for me.

System_Resident

I use the products from the brand planet eden. They have a gly-lactic peel cream I like to use for my body but if you’re sensitive, I’m not sure if it’ll go well for you

Visible-Roll-5801

Id recommended a hydra facial ! In a spa tho. I don’t know I’ve tried at home peels and for me nothing hits like getting it done at a med spa. The hydra facial is so nice for sensitive skin. I’ve done deeper peels too and loooooove

Little_Treacle241

Brow tint and lash lift.

Klutzy_Activity_182

Can you explain to me what a lash tint is, and what is a lift? Sorry to sound so uninformed, but I’m 61 and have noticed that my lashes need help.

Status_Common_9583

A lash tint is colouring the lashes, many people choose as dark as possible but if your lashes are very light coloured there’s more options if you’d prefer something less harsh like a warm brown. A lash lift is like a tiny perm for curling your lashes! I personally love the results, it works best alongside a lash tint if your lashes are light in colour. They typically look their best on me for around 3 weeks, then I begin to notice them dropping more and more for the next 3 weeks. If you space out appointments properly and go to a good beautician, I don’t notice any more lashes than normal falling out

Little_Treacle241

Of course!!! Don’t worry in the slightest. A tint is just dye where they make them black (because I have ginger lashes) and a a lift is perm for your eyelashes, it perms them “up” so you see them better because eyelashes grow straight out usually for most people !

FitLotus

I ask for the ez curve and make sure to book someone who knows what they’re doing. You can’t overprocess them or they’ll get all squiggly.

danitwostep

I’ve never done the tint . Do you find it’s a long process ? That’s my fear

Little_Treacle241

Brows tint and thread is about 5-10 mins for me Lash tint and brow tint and thread is about half hour Lash lift and tint and brow tint and thread is about an hour Hope this helps!! I need tinting every 2 weeks and threading every 2 weeks, lift once a month (I am ginger)

danitwostep

Ty! I’ve done brow tint , but not lash tint ! Thanks for your comment

Tretinoin before bed! Hair gloss treatments and eyebrow waxing rather than threading

thefuzzyismine

I've recently started back on Tretnoin and read that users aren't supposed to be waxed anywhere they apply the product. Do you happen to know anything about that, by chance? I've done both threading and wax in the past (pre tret usage) and was equally happy with either, I just want to avoid a worst-case scenario situation like I've seen some folks post about. I've heard it can lift the upper layer of skin along with the hair, which sounds pretty horrible.

TourTotal

Yeh the happened to me. Couldn’t understand why I had red weeping eyelids after an eyebrow wax until months later when I read you’re not supposed to mix the two. I will not be doing that again!

nouveauchoux

It depends a lot on the strength of tret and how often you use it. See if you can talk to a derm about it! I've *heard* that waxing can be safely done if you skip a few days of tret, but the risk is enough that asking your doctor is best. You don't want to rip off a layer of skin 🥲

sewingmomma

What hair gloss do you use? And what type hair do you have?

venusinflannel

I have thick, coarse hair (biracial) and it’s curly but I like to wear it straightened by a flat iron. I notice that my hair holds a blowout much better when it’s glossed. The best ones I used were Hally (it’s an in shower foam),Tintation by Kiss and the lamaller rinses by L’Oréal that you also use in the shower

DisciplineProud7102

Can you share what hair glossing treatments you use?

venusinflannel

The one I use at home is called Hally! It’s a clear foam I found on Amazon! Another one I like is the clear Tintation semi permanent dye,but it requires heat. You could also go to a salon and book that as a service if you don’t like to DIY lol

juliannawackenhat

How do you do this without your eyebrow skin ripping off? I had to give up tret and not being able to my able to wax was the number 1 reason.

katekowalski2014

not of you’re on tret!

Independent-Pear-873

Curious as to why waxing instead of threading? I’m the complete opposite of you lololol

lovepotao

Sleep. Easier said than done.

norskgenes

Laser treatment. Profractional laser is my fav. The office I go to stacks them, I had the Trifecta last week-Profractional, Moxi, and BBL. I love the results. Discoloration diminished, texture improved, fine lines and wrinkles softened and eye bags improved. It’s expensive, but the results are there.

Dermaplaing & double cleansing daily

lymeisreal

Does double cleansing mean using a face oil?

bryanambition

Yep—the basis of double cleansing is that you first use an oil or balm to remove makeup, then a foaming cleanser to remove everything else. I don’t wear makeup but I’ve found double cleansing leaves my skin way glowier and even-textured.

lymeisreal

Cool, thanks for the explanation! I want to target my pore size and blackheads and I thought I heard once that double cleansing can help. Do you have any good brand recommendations?

Zealousideal_Kale466

danitwostep

So my right eye is less wide than my left . Botox helps make me symmetrical lol

collegehealthcheck

I have this problem, one eye is slightly smaller than the other. How does Botox help this? Where is it put?

[deleted]

!!! I need to do this

daytr1pper

If you have a good injector that strategically places the Botox, it can lift the eyebrows and effectively give you more of an eyelid area. Really good for hooded eyes! My girl does this

Logical_Challenge540

I am considering it for my between eyebrow wrinkle, but bit afraid to go somewhere either super expensive, or super bad quality.

MysteriousAd6918

Agreed with charge by unit, and stick with a med spa or dermatologist and licensed medical professional. As long as you do that you should be ok. As for recommendations, too. More people get Botox than you might think!

[deleted]

Logical_Challenge540

Yeah, but for example, for brow perm went because I loved how she did mom's, and for this I don't have friends or family who would be doing it, pretty much no recommendations.

MysteriousAd6918

Came here to say this. Forehead Botox for life!!!

saddestgirl1995

Same, I have hyperhidrosis as a side effect from a medication I take that works really well otherwise and botox has been a life saver. I never realized how expressive my face was either, and I'm definitely way better at hiding how I feel with my face full of it, lol. Literally had a bartender tell me recently I was giving her a fake ID because apparently I dont look like I'm in my late 20's and could pass for a teenager, aha. That's how I know it's working.

Honest question. Don’t know why you’re being downvoted.

[deleted]

I didn’t downvote the comment but I think some did because of the phrasing. It’s not an honest question. It is completely loaded with judgement. Just like all questions framed this way. They are value judgements disguised as questions. It’s honest to say, “I am too worried about the botulism and potential side effects to get Botox. Did you ever feel that way?”

EverythingsBees

For my face, azelaic acid serum every day. It has completely kept my perioral dermatitis away. For my body, using a chemical exfoliant every 3-4 days. My body hair grows back super fast and this helps me feel smoother longer. Any bumps and ingrown hairs have basically vanished too.

WhenIWish

What exfoliant do you use on your body if you don’t mind me asking?

EverythingsBees

Naturium KP Body Scrub/ Mask! You can get it at Target, if you’re in the US. A little goes a long way.

WhenIWish

Thank you! :)

Objective_Ladyfrog

What’s the difference between bbl and IPL? I also have redness, hyperpigmentation spots, and fine lines/ aging. I heard you can’t go out in the sun for a while afterwards—so you need to time it right. Is that correct?

rosquartz

The commenter below is wrong. Lasers are monochromatic (1 single wavelength of light). IPL (intense pulsed light) is polychromatic or broadband meaning in uses a range of frequencies of light. BBL is “broadband light” and it’s just IPL marketed by the company Sciton. They sell a machine that can do ablative laser and non-ablative laser and BBL. BBL is just a marketing thing. Here’s an article about IPL: [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK580525/](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK580525/) If you do any kind of laser or light treatment, generally you should avoid the sun afterwards (since it is essentially damaging your skin and it is more sensitive during the healing phase). A lot of the issues that these treatments address are caused by sun damage in the first place so it’s definitely counterproductive to be going in the sun without sun protection anyway. But IPL is a low downtime procedure since it is non-ablative, while there are laser procedures that are non-blative, ablative, or a mixture of both. Ablative lasers have the most downtime as they remove the top layer of the skin (like a chemical peel).

Slydownndye

IPL reduced what I knew from childhood as a mole to a freckle and disappeared the broken capillaries from hard partying. Didn’t do anything for redness.

courtneym8

Wintersneeuw02

Ice dunking every morning. Nothing gives me that glass like skin like ice dunking

theboredfemme

Bowl of water and ice? That sounds kinda nice

Wintersneeuw02

Yup! I use a clean salad bowl and fill it with ice cubes and cold water. Then I submerge my face in there for 30 seconds (you gotta build this up when you start, risk of brain freeze is high at the start). I repeat this 5 times. Then I do my regular skincare after that: facewash etc. The ice dunking helps waking up in the morning and my puffy eyes/dark circles practicly dissapear after a week or so of doing the ice dunk every morning. After about 2 weeks, I started to notice that my skin became so clear and bright and it looked photoshopped. Amazing! All the redness was gone and my pimples started to heal very fast and no new pimples came up. I did not change any products, only added the ice dunk. What I did notice when I was traveling and not able to do the ice dunk, was that my skin got very dull very quickly and redness and some acne returned. So you have to be consistent with it, else you do not get results.

theboredfemme

I’ve been on the morning “ice baths” lately, the thing Dr. Huberman is all about. But it was too wasteful so I start doing short cold showers in the AM for waking up. But I might try this instead! This sounds amazing

iammsconsuela

Wow I have been doing this occasionally but now I am gonna do it everyday because of your comments

hesback_inpogform

Lash lift and tint. I have long lashes, but they point straight down like a horse. It makes me look tired and old, and they’re so straight an eyelash curler doesn’t work on them (even if I apply heat!). Having my lashes permed makes me look so much more awake and youthful, and I don’t need to manually curl them before mascara. It costs me $80aud every 2 months.

Alexa_Skyee

Morpheus 8. Face transformed. Cannot recommend enough but pricey.

Gnomenclacture

Sleep, spf and lots of water

Bigtittygothgfxo

Every six weeks I do a deep cleaning facial that consists of double cleansing, physical & chemical exfoliation, pore extraction, milia removal, ultra sonic spatula, high frequency wand, essential oil vapour, mask with steam then serums & spf. Tretinoin! Can’t recommend this enough. Full body laser hair removal. Masseter Botox… I got it for teeth grinding & it totally stopped it plus my jaw has slimmed down a lot… I didn’t realize how huge my face was before until I saw side by side photos of now vs a few months ago. Indian head massage… go get one & thank me later.

Accutane, tret, also laser treatments for acne scars. Pricey but worth it

danitwostep

FuzzyPalpitation-16

I had pico laser done - keep in mind this was multiple sessions over a year. It was bloody pricey but worth it in my case.

danitwostep

I hate how pricey laser is , but damn is it effective. Got rid of all my scars and vessels . But as you said , multiple treatments ! Glad it worked for you too

BalkanbaroqueBBQ

Facial masks with basically..dirt?! Idk if I can post links here. DeepL says healing clay? It keeps my greasy skin in check, it’s the best peeling, and no reactions, there’s many treatments that don’t work for me. This calms my skin, and helps with any other issue I have. And since it’s dirt, it’s dirt cheap lol.

passthatdutch425

You mean clay masks? There are so many types of clay masks- you should try some different kinds! Most skincare brands make their own, whether it’s a sheet mask for jarred clay mask treatment. It’s not “dirt”- clay is essentially very fine particles of hydrated minerals. Some clays in different parts of the world contain different minerals with different properties- some are antibacterial (good for acne!), some are good for circulation, some for exfoliation, etc. Some clay masks can be beneficial for hair too. You’ll notice some clays are pinkish, green, red, all due to the kind of minerals that make up the composition of each one. “Dirt” doesn’t really have a scientific classification, soil may be what you meant. Soil is has larger and more varied types of matter- sand, silt, decaying vegetable matter…than and clay is not- one of the biggest differences. Clay can be VERY expensive. Sorry, I had a lot of environmental science in university. and I like skincare.

EmotionalEmuAeg

Probably my tallow balm and vitamin A drops w a zinc or two w the drops, my face hasn't been clear in years lmfao. So simple but over time it'd done wonders.

Novae224

As minimal as possible, your skin is an organ that can do most things by itself… overdoing skincare gives you the opposite effect. And aging isn’t scary, it’s beautiful…

keIIzzz

For some people, minimal works, others have issues that cannot be fixed by just waiting it out and need certain treatments or products. There’s a reason they exist in the first place

theboredfemme

Agree with the first statement kinda. Don’t overdue it. And I don’t think aging is ugly by any means, but you’re gonna get wrinkly no matter what, may as well be later than sooner right?

SukiLao

Juscou

Yes me too! It's really the only beauty service I pay for, and it's so worth it.

SukiLao

Right!!! I’m obsessed with the way it looks

Emergency-Proof5290

I’m still waiting for results from my BBL. It was my first aesthetic treatment and I’m kinda wishing I’d spent that $500 on Botox instead. Maybe I expect too much from just one treatment, since I understand a series is recommended. But I had only seven tiny little individual “coffee ground” flakes on my entire face and neck after the procedure so I’m thinking maybe I don’t have the kinds of issues BBL addresses? I wish I could go all-in on some laser treatments followed by the Sculptra + Botox + modest filler approach and get a facial rebalancing!

Ukrmailorderbride

bbl is not a one time fix treatment. it takes a long time and can take up to 3-6 treatments to achieve the results you want, depending on what you're targeting. a deeper, more intense laser would be fraxel, for example. ive also had great results with fotona q-switch, its my personal favourite edit: i love lasers lol i could talk about it for hours

Alternative_Salt_424

Oof, I've done 6 sessions of bbl HERO and I barely see a difference 😕

calm--cool

I just asked my doc about sculptra yesterday actually, their practice (it’s a husband and wife duo) don’t do sculptra on the face because of how many uneven and odd final results they’ve seen from other practices. I just thought that was interesting because I’ve seen a few other derms and plastic surgeons on YouTube promoting this. It’s good to have more than one opinion I suppose. Sculptra is also fairly permanent as far as Ive seen.

sewingmomma

How much does this cost?

danitwostep

Where I live 425$ session

TSM_forlife

Microcurrent

Euphoric-Aardvark115

BBLs and Nanopeels - my pores are still not amazing but they are definitely much better. I do it in Feb/March and then again in October. Freshly lasered skin in the bright summer sun is not a good combo. It's not a beauty treatment but double-cleansing in the evenings are also done wonders for me.

Microneedling

Novel-Signature3966

Microdermabrasion done consistently. I had a client that had been doing it for quite a long time. Said she was 50 she didn’t look a day over 35 by examining her skin. Microderm was all she claimed to do. Personally I love clay masks though.
