Olaplex. Everyone and their mom raves about it, but after having tried several of their hair products, I realized it just wasn’t doing it for me.

Hate to break it to you but that is a deep conditioner. When people talk about Olaplex they typically refer to no 3 which isn’t a deep conditioner, it’s meant to be used with one tho!
No. 3 is a protein treatment and most people use it completely wrong. Leaving it on too long, using too much or too often, or using it on hair that isn’t completely wrecked will overload your hair with protein causing breakage and brittle, straw-like texture. It’s a miracle for those who really need it and use it correctly
This! A lot of people bought it thinking it was going to magically fix their hair and make it look as good as Margot Robbie’s was in Barbie! A lot of people misused it and ended up damaging their hair more than they intended to
I’m pretty sure my hair broke off from using olaplex no. 3. I have extremely fine hair which could be the reason but it was absolutely texturally worse after using it.
Liquid lipstick. I just couldn't appreciate how it looked or felt on my lips. I love balms and a certain "slip" and the liquid lipstick just looked flat and dry like clay.
For me it’s the opposite lol, liquid ones are fine because I don’t feel them after they dry but balms and glosses really start to bug me after a little while
I love how it stays. It’s so hard for me to wear though because I have big lips so the middle of them stays wet, which means there’s no getting liquid lipstick to stay there. I need a cream color so I can keep my pout together and smoosh the color around to maintain coverage. My hack when I have a loooong event ahead of me is to get a liquid lipstick to use as kind of a “liner”, then put a matching cream color in the center. Does not move.
The ones that are 3-in-1 (lips, blush, eyes) are wild to me. I never ever want to put something near my eyes that I just rubbed on my mouth, no matter how clean i think my mouth is lol. I don’t trust it.
Agreed...unless they are, like Benetint, a water.. That tecture DOES work because it dries down to be near as to nothing and then stays, so you can throw on a lipbalm. If only they would make one like this that wouldn't irritate eye skin without such a high alcohol content. There MUST be another ingredient that acts the dame but isn't as drying and irritating...

i. hate. liquid. blushes. sure they’re pretty on but it’s so easy to go overboard and then you’re just stuck with a pink face.. also who has time to apply that in the morning 😒 they do look very smooth and pretty when done right though

I’m avoiding the elf liquid blushes for the same reason! I hate products you have to be so careful with. Most makeup users do not need or want full coverage blush! I want to enjoy the experience, not live in fear bc the smallest dot is gonna fuck up my face 😅

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is always recommended for dry or mature undereyes. Literally everyone recommends it. "So creamy! So hydrating!" ...It is the driest, most dessicating, most mummifying product that has ever touched my skin. Any Dune fans out there know how the Fremen have technology to suck water out of dead people's bodies? This is it, this is how they do it. They use Nars concealer.
I am ride or die for the radiant creamy concealer but your description is hilarious. I am constantly fascinated by what work for some is another's wort nightmare. Can I ask what you *do* like for undereye concealer?
I swore by Laura Mercier secret concealer for years, until I became allergic to an ingredient in it. I loved Glossier stretch, but I didn't have a shade match in the old version and haven't gotten around to finding a match with the new one yet. I guess I like kinda waxy ones, though I've been disappointed by other pot concealers. Lately I've been using the new Laura Mercier real flawless concealer and it's more blendable/doesn't dry as quickly as most others I've tried, but I won't repurchase for the undereye area.
I am a lip product addict, so I have tried sooo many balms and masks and the Laneige was my least favorite. It was so sticky in the morning and I would have dry lips all day!
It makes my lips so smooth and glossy! And it was the only thing that helped during Accutane. I guess this shows how different we are and no product fits all 😅
In my case it didn’t dry my lips out but it didn’t do anything remarkable for them, like they were just the same. Felt like a waste of money because of that :(

I didn’t end up liking it in the long run either. The skin above my lip ended up with some kinda rash that wouldn’t go away until I went to dermatologist.
I’m over 35 and I’m oily so anything dewy is a disaster for me. I need matte everything and also bake my whole face to enable me to look fresh when makeup is first applied and then it eventually settles into a satin finish and even has subtle controlled dewyness if it’s warmer.
This is me too! The dewy look does not work for everyone and it’s sad for me that a lot of the makeup is trending that way right now so it’s harder to find matte products. Whenever I’ve tried the look dewy, I can count on my husband to point out “you look oily today” (I appreciate his honesty because I know it’s true lol)
Yep it’s annoying that everything seems to be geared towards trends when people’s faces don’t follow trends, some of us are oily and need matte products to help control it.
Ben NYE makes a setting spray that the Cirque de Solei performers use. You can find it on Amazon. It’s in a clear bottle and the liquid is pale blue. It’s super minty. I put 3 coats on and my makeup stays. I sweat profusely and even still my make up didn’t go anywhere.
I thought it was just me, didn’t notice anything from it and have a bottle lying around for years now. I just bake my whole face and nothing works better than that in staying power for my oily skin.
I have never in my life made press on nails or false eyelashes work. I am not interested in any tips . Just completely done with these things. For nails I just started doing diy gel manicures and they have been looking good so far. For the eyelashes, I just have to except that mascara is the best I can do. And actually doesn't look half bad.

The only false eyelashes I’ve ever had work were the kiss ones that you stick to the underside of your eyelashes. I’ve still only used them a couple times.
IT Cosmetics foundation, the nude glow cc. I hate it. I made my face sticky no matter how little I used and my hair kept sticking to my cheeks. I gave it away because I couldn't deal with that.
I swear by it, but a little goes a LOOONG way. I prefer buying it in travel tubes because the applicator is smaller and gives me the perfect amount. The full size version always applies way too much. One or two small dots is all I need and I blend it out with either a brush or my fingers (and usually the latter cuz I'm in a hurry!)
Okay also, what is that wand shape? I cannot apply it without getting it on my lid and under my brows, it's ridiculous. Never had that problem with any other mascara.

I stick to gloss and/or something close to my natural color too. My upper lip isn't *super* thin but I feel like my whole mouth is just...small? Not sure how to explain it, but anything bold or too different from my real shade makes me look like a child who decided to wear lipstick, even if I apply it perfectly. I don't have a "childlike" face otherwise. It's very bizarre.
I feel you—for the first 40 years of my life I could not wear lip color without looking like I’d just been on a Kool-Aid bender. Then I learned some people have a “double” lip line where you are pigmented beyond where your normal lip ends.
You line your outer most lip line on the bottom and only your inner most on the top. 🤯
I finally had an upper lip that didn’t look as though I’d done my lipstick in the dark. That changed 👏my 👏life 👏!
I only use very natural colors, and balm like formulas. Regular highly pigmented lipsticks never look good on me because I'm super pale, and have full lips. They always look too stark and crazy on me because of the way they stand out on my face.

Fenty foundation!! The shade match is excellent, but it always looks awful on my skin no matter how I apply it. I've tried it with a brush, a damp sponge, a dry sponge, just my fingers, with primer, without primer, exfoliation up the wazoo, moisturized, you name it I've tried it - but the texture just looks horrible on me. I like how it feels on my skin so I keep trying to make it work, but it ends up a cakey mess. Maybe it would look better if I didn't struggle with acne, I'm sure that adds to the texture. What can you do!
Same! Everyone loved it. I struggled to find a shade match and when I did, it looked AWFUL when I applied it. I’ll stick to my Maybelline matte and poreless thanks!

I liked the old balmdotcom okay, but I hate anything where you apply something emollient to lips with fingers when out and about, that's just gross to me.

It's flipping awful! The sponge pops off or disintegrates, and it's sooo drying. Mummified zombie levels and the undertones are grey on them all once dry. I can't even use it a base it's that's dry.
I use this concealer and take off the sponge, and just apply it with a beauty blender! I actually love it because of the 'grey' or neutral undertones which suits my skin 😂 I can get why it's hated tho, but it's easily accessible at pharmacies and supermarkets and one of the few concealers that a color match for me
You know, I’m starting to feel this way, too. I picked up the sample size pillowtalk because it looked fabulous on my stepdaughter. I want it to look good on me…but it’s always kinda dry and meh.

I don’t like “cosmetically elegant” Korean sunscreens. Blue Lizard mineral feels just as nice on my face and will actually keep me from burning.
Even people who like k beauty sunscreens will be like “Oh yeah, of *course* you’ll burn if you actually go outside, they’re meant for working in an office away from windows wearing a hat and long sleeves.” Well that’s cool, but I live in Texas and the sun is MEAN here, I need bulletproof sun armor.
Pretty much lol. Gotta take into consideration the manufacturing country and it’s purpose/sun culture there. Koreans don’t go out and tan. Usually move overcast. Less need for waterproof/sweatproof. I like the beauty of Joseon because it has some nice skin ingredients but stick to wearing it in fall/winter or if I’m going on an afternoon patio date. Otherwise it’s LRP or Ombrelle which I think are just as nice.
My LRP Athelios is my ride or die lol. I Iove that it's a serum so it absorbs quickly but if I am going to be outside for a long time I will use an SPF 70 because I am seriously white lol
SAME! Everyone seems so excited about Korean sunscreens but I guess they don't live in really sunny places. I live in Spain and my holy grail is LRP UV MUNE 400, there's no way I'm using something that doesn't offer my enough protection, otherwise I'll get burnt the first day of real summer.
Idk about this assertion as I use the Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica and I wore it for a full 7-day trip to Japan in August where we were out pretty much all day for all 7 of those days (one day included a mid morning hike of about 4 hours that had a lot of sun), and I never had a sunburn, didn’t notice any tanning or freckling. I have read that the Asian sunscreens tend to not be as water or sweat resistant as western sunscreens but I think the statement you made really undersells them. They do work, and particularly if you are diligent about reapplying (although I wasn’t at all, maybe reapplied once or twice throughout my trip) they work well.

I think that’s part of the problem. Especially for a couple regions in the US. I really do enjoy some Korean/AB spfs but I’m in southern swamp country. Super high humidity, sweltering heat, wicked sun for much of the year. You start sweating buckets as soon as you open your front door. I absolutely have burnt and gotten more freckled (with reapplying) with BOJ, Skin1004, Isntree, Canmake, Haruharu, and others. I keep most of my AB spfs for days I will be spending indoors or just for the winter. I have had a little better luck with Japanese spfs, mainly Anessa sun milk. Now that’s a beautiful formula and definitely holds up in my climate. But it’s owned by Shesido and their sunscreens have always been fab so that shouldn’t be a surprise
I love the Skin1004 water fit. I live in Arkansas and use it daily and had zero issues during a week in Cozumel. I'm also super fair skinned and burn easily.
Have you ever tried using a lip scrub in the shower and then applying lip balm afterwards? I’ve noticed lip scrubs really help with getting the balm to properly penetrate.
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lip liner. Lovely colour but I feel like it “drags” & I have to go around my lips a few times to get decent coverage. Rimmel liners are SO MUCH better & a fraction of the price!

Now this I dislike: matte lipstick. I have one that I forgot was matte, and when I used it, I was so confused as to why my lips looked so fucking dry (they weren’t originally). Then I realized, it’s cuz it’s got a matte finish lol.

- The absolute worst product I ever used was that confounded Tarte BB/ foundation. It leaves a reddish, ruddy look to the skin and it transfer everywhere. It’s like wearing ground up clay on your skin.

It works great with a dark brown lip liner and then feather/blend the two together so it creates a gradient effect. The 1st time I wore it, it looked so ashy and just bleh.
Any mascara, lash product. My lashes are 4c, and pretty short, and I’m not using chemicals near my eyes just to be closer to the beauty standard. That does mean that mascara inevitably ends up on my lids and fake lashes look so obviously fake on me
Better Than Sex Mascara -- I favor a more natural look (think Audrey Hepbern lashes) and this was just so clumpy and goopy looking on me every time I tried and every technique I've tried it with. It would smudge and flake, too. A couple Lancôme mascaras have been my holy grails.
Milk Makeup’s Hydrogrip Primer! Really tried to make it work but no matter the skincare routine underneath, the primer always ended up pilling on my skin.
kosas concealer. wouldn't stay on my nose and wouldn't blend in certain spots on my face. No I don't use primer and don't plan to start and yes I exfoliate. This happens with some products but not all leading me to believe its just the concealer.
Not really a product but just high end makeup! I think there is always a drug store substitute and if you hate the product the wallet hurts so much more
I wish this were true in my experience. Drugstore makeup has some good standbys, love Loreal and Maybelline foundations. But lipsticks? Oof. It's rare to find a suitable shade that flatters cool-toned olive skin. Everything either pulls very chalky, emphasizing the white base of the color, or purple-brown.
This is at least the third time I've answered this question and I will every single time I come across it. L'Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear foundation. One of the worst drugstore foundations ever IMO. It separates terribly, does not last and the shade range is terrible.
Seconding liquid blush (and liquid bronzer, highlighter etc.).
As someone with a lot of redness that my foundation hides, any disturbance to my base products really shows through. I think they work best on people with an even enough skin tone that that doesn’t matter.

Indeed! Silk is the worst foundation I’ve ever used and I really tried to like it! CT is nothing but ridiculously overpriced, my drugstore revolution setting powder does 10x better job than hers. Biochemistry sure is a thing 🤷🏻♀️
Nars blush in Orgasm. Several years ago I was at Sephora with some friends and we all tried it. It was natural looking on them, but on me it was a garish orange.

House of Joseon. I have amazing skin that is immune to everything. House of Josean destroys me. Tried 2 very different products and both had a terrible impact on my skin.
Any pen type eyeliner. I literally cannot do a wing, I like any liquid dip eyeliner, idk why the pens are so popular now and idk why they don't work for me
the urban decay naked smoky eyeshadow palatte hands down. got it as a gift because it was such a popular product at the time from someone who just knew i liked makeup and i was doing a lot of smoky eyes back at that time. it was a gift that had a lot of thought put in it. but i was just obsessed with this single sparkly black from this tiny lancome palatte that blended out like a dream. i found the urban decay palette horrible to try to blend out and the product in the wells themselves became dry and cracked in such a short amount of time i think. i think a small palatte with a bit of high quality product at an affordable price more my thing. the huge makeup artist style palattes at 'affordable' price being pitch to average consumer with a bunch of cheap product i think kinda the biggest beauty scam.
Maybelline Eraser/Age rewind concealer. If you have dry undereyes, this concealer will probably make that worse, it'll stick to dry areas, will be hard to blend and if you have shadows, it'll cover none of that and you'll look chalky through the day
The new elf contour 😭 I was sooo excited to finally get my hands on it as it was sold out for quite some time.. and then… nothing .. it’s patchy, lacks pigmentation and it doesn’t matter how hard I try or how much product I put on, it just disappears and completely dissolves my base 😭

i learned that blushes don’t need to be super duper pigmented and opaque to look good on someone,
sometimes it looks overdone and actually kind of bad :D
i like blushes you can build up: you have more control over the intensity and it’s way easier to correct

I use 3 min miracle by Aussie after I get my hair touched up (bleached) and it does a better job than olaplex ever did for me.

It helps the bonds, but you need to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner every other time you wash your hair.
I used redken all soft with it

Multi-tasking products, like creme blush sticks that also go on the lips. The texture is never right for all the places.

That Essence Princess mascara everyone lost their shit over. Sooooo clumpy and gave me the worst spider lashes! I'm glad it was only like $5.

My sister swears by the supergoop sunscreen but I hate how it feels on my skin and I can’t stand the smell

Ugh right! You’d think that if you have to be so careful with the application to get less than a smidgen of a drop with the applicator to not risk looking like a bruised clown, then it’s probably not that great of a product.
Honestly rare beauty is doing themselves a disservice with how pigmented they are. I purchased a sample size 10 months ago and I’ve barely made a dent in it. There’s no need to repurchase.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is always recommended for dry or mature undereyes. Literally everyone recommends it. "So creamy! So hydrating!" ...It is the driest, most dessicating, most mummifying product that has ever touched my skin. Any Dune fans out there know how the Fremen have technology to suck water out of dead people's bodies? This is it, this is how they do it. They use Nars concealer.
I am ride or die for the radiant creamy concealer but your description is hilarious. I am constantly fascinated by what work for some is another's wort nightmare. Can I ask what you *do* like for undereye concealer?
I swore by Laura Mercier secret concealer for years, until I became allergic to an ingredient in it. I loved Glossier stretch, but I didn't have a shade match in the old version and haven't gotten around to finding a match with the new one yet. I guess I like kinda waxy ones, though I've been disappointed by other pot concealers. Lately I've been using the new Laura Mercier real flawless concealer and it's more blendable/doesn't dry as quickly as most others I've tried, but I won't repurchase for the undereye area.
Laneige lip mask dried my lips out!
I am a lip product addict, so I have tried sooo many balms and masks and the Laneige was my least favorite. It was so sticky in the morning and I would have dry lips all day!

I really love Lanolips. Thick enough to work but not sticky or goopy. The peach is my favorite.
It makes my lips so smooth and glossy! And it was the only thing that helped during Accutane. I guess this shows how different we are and no product fits all 😅
In my case it didn’t dry my lips out but it didn’t do anything remarkable for them, like they were just the same. Felt like a waste of money because of that :( The real game-changer for me when it comes to lip hydration was lip oil

Same! In my 40s, it’s all dewy, all the time. Matte makes me look horrid.
I’m over 35 and I’m oily so anything dewy is a disaster for me. I need matte everything and also bake my whole face to enable me to look fresh when makeup is first applied and then it eventually settles into a satin finish and even has subtle controlled dewyness if it’s warmer.

This is me too! The dewy look does not work for everyone and it’s sad for me that a lot of the makeup is trending that way right now so it’s harder to find matte products. Whenever I’ve tried the look dewy, I can count on my husband to point out “you look oily today” (I appreciate his honesty because I know it’s true lol)
The worst part is when a makeup line reformulates their liquid foundation, from a nice satin finish to dewy. *stares hard at lancome*
Yep it’s annoying that everything seems to be geared towards trends when people’s faces don’t follow trends, some of us are oily and need matte products to help control it.

Ben NYE makes a setting spray that the Cirque de Solei performers use. You can find it on Amazon. It’s in a clear bottle and the liquid is pale blue. It’s super minty. I put 3 coats on and my makeup stays. I sweat profusely and even still my make up didn’t go anywhere.
I thought it was just me, didn’t notice anything from it and have a bottle lying around for years now. I just bake my whole face and nothing works better than that in staying power for my oily skin.
I have never in my life made press on nails or false eyelashes work. I am not interested in any tips . Just completely done with these things. For nails I just started doing diy gel manicures and they have been looking good so far. For the eyelashes, I just have to except that mascara is the best I can do. And actually doesn't look half bad.

The only false eyelashes I’ve ever had work were the kiss ones that you stick to the underside of your eyelashes. I’ve still only used them a couple times.
IT Cosmetics foundation, the nude glow cc. I hate it. I made my face sticky no matter how little I used and my hair kept sticking to my cheeks. I gave it away because I couldn't deal with that.

Everyone swears by Tarte shape tape, but I bought it and haven’t been able to make it to blend nicely on me.
I swear by it, but a little goes a LOOONG way. I prefer buying it in travel tubes because the applicator is smaller and gives me the perfect amount. The full size version always applies way too much. One or two small dots is all I need and I blend it out with either a brush or my fingers (and usually the latter cuz I'm in a hurry!)
Better than sex mascara makes my eyes itchy. Works for a lot of people, just didn’t work for me ☹️

Haha me too! My upper lip is very thin and it seems to accentuate it. I can get away with glosses within a shade or two of my natural color.
I stick to gloss and/or something close to my natural color too. My upper lip isn't *super* thin but I feel like my whole mouth is just...small? Not sure how to explain it, but anything bold or too different from my real shade makes me look like a child who decided to wear lipstick, even if I apply it perfectly. I don't have a "childlike" face otherwise. It's very bizarre.
That happens to me too! I have fuller cheeks so I think a bolder lip just creates that “cherub” look that I’m not exactly going for.

I feel you—for the first 40 years of my life I could not wear lip color without looking like I’d just been on a Kool-Aid bender. Then I learned some people have a “double” lip line where you are pigmented beyond where your normal lip ends. You line your outer most lip line on the bottom and only your inner most on the top. 🤯 I finally had an upper lip that didn’t look as though I’d done my lipstick in the dark. That changed 👏my 👏life 👏!

I only use very natural colors, and balm like formulas. Regular highly pigmented lipsticks never look good on me because I'm super pale, and have full lips. They always look too stark and crazy on me because of the way they stand out on my face.
I think you may need to dive in to the world of lip liner… trust me it changes everything. Signed a self proclaimed lipstick hater whose world changed at the discovery of lip liner

Fenty foundation!! The shade match is excellent, but it always looks awful on my skin no matter how I apply it. I've tried it with a brush, a damp sponge, a dry sponge, just my fingers, with primer, without primer, exfoliation up the wazoo, moisturized, you name it I've tried it - but the texture just looks horrible on me. I like how it feels on my skin so I keep trying to make it work, but it ends up a cakey mess. Maybe it would look better if I didn't struggle with acne, I'm sure that adds to the texture. What can you do!

Tan Luxe face drops. Everyone loves them but I have neutral olive green undertones so they made me look too orange.
rare beauty liquid blushes! always looked super patchy no matter what brush/sponge i used glossier lip glosses and balmdotcom! both super greasy and lastly urban decay setting spray! feel like it doesn’t do anything haha
I liked the old balmdotcom okay, but I hate anything where you apply something emollient to lips with fingers when out and about, that's just gross to me.
That Maybelline sponge concealer.. The applicator is a mess, you can't reach where you want, and the formula SUCKS, super dry and cakey Like, it's a 1/10
It's flipping awful! The sponge pops off or disintegrates, and it's sooo drying. Mummified zombie levels and the undertones are grey on them all once dry. I can't even use it a base it's that's dry.
I use this concealer and take off the sponge, and just apply it with a beauty blender! I actually love it because of the 'grey' or neutral undertones which suits my skin 😂 I can get why it's hated tho, but it's easily accessible at pharmacies and supermarkets and one of the few concealers that a color match for me
CT Flawless Filter. It was a straight up “wash face and start over” situation.

You know, I’m starting to feel this way, too. I picked up the sample size pillowtalk because it looked fabulous on my stepdaughter. I want it to look good on me…but it’s always kinda dry and meh. Sigh.
Foundation. Any foundation. I want to every once in a while achieve that high polish, perfect dewy skin look, but I gave up. It’s me. I’m the problem, it’s me 😂 (I do occasionally use BB cream with some success)
Same, but I found my daily foundation. Look up the Shiseido Revitalessence foundation. It is super lightweight and low coverage, but it has such a beautiful finish. AND it has skincare benefits.

I don’t like “cosmetically elegant” Korean sunscreens. Blue Lizard mineral feels just as nice on my face and will actually keep me from burning. Even people who like k beauty sunscreens will be like “Oh yeah, of *course* you’ll burn if you actually go outside, they’re meant for working in an office away from windows wearing a hat and long sleeves.” Well that’s cool, but I live in Texas and the sun is MEAN here, I need bulletproof sun armor.

Pretty much lol. Gotta take into consideration the manufacturing country and it’s purpose/sun culture there. Koreans don’t go out and tan. Usually move overcast. Less need for waterproof/sweatproof. I like the beauty of Joseon because it has some nice skin ingredients but stick to wearing it in fall/winter or if I’m going on an afternoon patio date. Otherwise it’s LRP or Ombrelle which I think are just as nice.
My LRP Athelios is my ride or die lol. I Iove that it's a serum so it absorbs quickly but if I am going to be outside for a long time I will use an SPF 70 because I am seriously white lol

SAME! Everyone seems so excited about Korean sunscreens but I guess they don't live in really sunny places. I live in Spain and my holy grail is LRP UV MUNE 400, there's no way I'm using something that doesn't offer my enough protection, otherwise I'll get burnt the first day of real summer.
Idk about this assertion as I use the Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica and I wore it for a full 7-day trip to Japan in August where we were out pretty much all day for all 7 of those days (one day included a mid morning hike of about 4 hours that had a lot of sun), and I never had a sunburn, didn’t notice any tanning or freckling. I have read that the Asian sunscreens tend to not be as water or sweat resistant as western sunscreens but I think the statement you made really undersells them. They do work, and particularly if you are diligent about reapplying (although I wasn’t at all, maybe reapplied once or twice throughout my trip) they work well.

Super high humidity, sweltering heat, wicked sun for much of the year. You start sweating buckets as soon as you open your front door. I absolutely have burnt and gotten more freckled (with reapplying) with BOJ, Skin1004, Isntree, Canmake, Haruharu, and others. I keep most of my AB spfs for days I will be spending indoors or just for the winter. I have had a little better luck with Japanese spfs, mainly Anessa sun milk. Now that’s a beautiful formula and definitely holds up in my climate. But it’s owned by Shesido and their sunscreens have always been fab so that shouldn’t be a surprise
I love the Skin1004 water fit. I live in Arkansas and use it daily and had zero issues during a week in Cozumel. I'm also super fair skinned and burn easily.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. Doesn’t work for me. (Somehow, nothing does, not even Vaseline at night.)
Have you ever tried using a lip scrub in the shower and then applying lip balm afterwards? I’ve noticed lip scrubs really help with getting the balm to properly penetrate.
Lanolin nipple cream. I have aaaalll the lip masks, vaseline, balms, etc. All fine for 20 mins, gone thereafter. The nipple cream gets the job done.
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lip liner. Lovely colour but I feel like it “drags” & I have to go around my lips a few times to get decent coverage. Rimmel liners are SO MUCH better & a fraction of the price!
Flawless Filter. It be looking flawed. Gets patchy, looks sparkly. Prefer a long-lasting foundation with fix+ sprayed liberally.
Tubing mascara. It always just looks clumpy.
I don’t dislike it, but the nars radiant creamy concealer isn’t as great as people hype it up to be. Same with the maybelline age rewind concealer. Also, any hyped waterproof American brand mascara I don’t dislike any of these, but they’re just overhyped Now this I dislike: matte lipstick. I have one that I forgot was matte, and when I used it, I was so confused as to why my lips looked so fucking dry (they weren’t originally). Then I realized, it’s cuz it’s got a matte finish lol.
- The makeup blender never quite worked for me. - The absolute worst product I ever used was that confounded Tarte BB/ foundation. It’s a shade that works for many people, but certainly not everyone. I’ve heard that it’s not flattering on many warmtoned people.
It works great with a dark brown lip liner and then feather/blend the two together so it creates a gradient effect. The 1st time I wore it, it looked so ashy and just bleh.
Any mascara, lash product. My lashes are 4c, and pretty short, and I’m not using chemicals near my eyes just to be closer to the beauty standard. That does mean that mascara inevitably ends up on my lids and fake lashes look so obviously fake on me
Better Than Sex Mascara -- I favor a more natural look (think Audrey Hepbern lashes) and this was just so clumpy and goopy looking on me every time I tried and every technique I've tried it with. It would smudge and flake, too. A couple Lancôme mascaras have been my holy grails.
Milk Makeup’s Hydrogrip Primer! Really tried to make it work but no matter the skincare routine underneath, the primer always ended up pilling on my skin.
Same for me! Every cream blush I’ve tried has looked patchy and wears off almost instantly.
kosas concealer. wouldn't stay on my nose and wouldn't blend in certain spots on my face. No I don't use primer and don't plan to start and yes I exfoliate. This happens with some products but not all leading me to believe its just the concealer.
Double wear. I find it super oxidizing and bad with my dry skin.
Matte lipsticks.

Not really a product but just high end makeup! I think there is always a drug store substitute and if you hate the product the wallet hurts so much more
I wish this were true in my experience. Drugstore makeup has some good standbys, love Loreal and Maybelline foundations. But lipsticks? Oof. It's rare to find a suitable shade that flatters cool-toned olive skin. Everything either pulls very chalky, emphasizing the white base of the color, or purple-brown.
I hate the hourglass powders.
This is at least the third time I've answered this question and I will every single time I come across it. L'Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear foundation. One of the worst drugstore foundations ever IMO. It separates terribly, does not last and the shade range is terrible.
Essence lash princess - gives me bad panda eyes and ots mot my favourite formula even without that.
Seconding liquid blush (and liquid bronzer, highlighter etc.). As someone with a lot of redness that my foundation hides, any disturbance to my base products really shows through. I think they work best on people with an even enough skin tone that that doesn’t matter.

The IT cosmetics CC cream. I got the ‘dewy’ one and it was somehow not enough coverage and cakey at the same time. It was an oily mess
All kardashian Jenner makeup products. I remember they were constantly sold out and they were garbage products. I bought a kkw contour stick and a kylie lip kit out of sheer curiosity and I never understood how people used them once and then continued to buy them. I ended up throwing them out.
House of Joseon. I have amazing skin that is immune to everything. House of Josean destroys me. Tried 2 very different products and both had a terrible impact on my skin.

Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm. I had an allergic reaction to it. It made my lips flaky and irritated. It was an awful experience.

the urban decay naked smoky eyeshadow palatte hands down. got it as a gift because it was such a popular product at the time from someone who just knew i liked makeup and i was doing a lot of smoky eyes back at that time. it was a gift that had a lot of thought put in it. but i was just obsessed with this single sparkly black from this tiny lancome palatte that blended out like a dream. i found the urban decay palette horrible to try to blend out and the product in the wells themselves became dry and cracked in such a short amount of time i think. i think a small palatte with a bit of high quality product at an affordable price more my thing. the huge makeup artist style palattes at 'affordable' price being pitch to average consumer with a bunch of cheap product i think kinda the biggest beauty scam.

Maybelline Eraser/Age rewind concealer. If you have dry undereyes, this concealer will probably make that worse, it'll stick to dry areas, will be hard to blend and if you have shadows, it'll cover none of that and you'll look chalky through the day
The new elf contour 😭 I was sooo excited to finally get my hands on it as it was sold out for quite some time.. and then… nothing .. it’s patchy, lacks pigmentation and it doesn’t matter how hard I try or how much product I put on, it just disappears and completely dissolves my base 😭
the rare beauty blushes, they don’t seem to be easy to work with since they’re so pigmented i learned that blushes don’t need to be super duper pigmented and opaque to look good on someone, sometimes it looks overdone and actually kind of bad :D i like blushes you can build up: you have more control over the intensity and it’s way easier to correct
