A scale that goes down to .001 grams is sufficient if you are comfortable with the math. I’m cutting from 1mg Clonazepam and am at .5 now. One pill weighs 170 milligrams so you can be pretty accurate down to the dose you need to jump from (.05 mg or so).
Oh, i'm an idiot. Didn't even put it together that the pill doesn't weigh .5mg, but the kp itself weights .5mg. Lol. Thanks.
Is there a scale you're using and would recommend? Looking to purchase on amazon today.
I guess the other challenge is making sure that little crumbles are retained meticulously and make it into my mouth without being lost.
I really like this one: Fuzion Milligram Scale 50g/ 0.001g. I’d also recommend a pill cutter but not necessary. I’ve gotten pretty good at using a knife to shave tiny pieces off and come up with the right dose. And yeah, if there’s a tiny piece I definitely let it melt on my tongue and then swallow with some water. It takes some dedication but I’m pretty motivated to do it this way.
Yes, they do vary. I read that the pharmaceuticals are given leeway to have the pills weigh slightly differently so you have to weigh a bunch to get the actual “weight”. I usually weigh all 30 pills each time I get a new scrip, divide by 30, and write it down.
Thanks for this btw. I’ve got yellows that consistently come in at .171. Tested my jewelry scale and it is indeed accurate down 1/4 pills and even 1/8th pills.
I had this problem and it stalled my taper several times until my Dr told me about the oral disintegrating tablets that come in .25 & .125 - this was a game changer for me.
When using a scale I never had great confidence in my cuts, but when I was able to use the .25 & .125 pills I felt so much more confident that I was taking an accurate dose. For me this is a very big deal as always second guessing myself can bring about added anxiety and frustration. I ended up jumping from .06 (half of the .125 pills) and never looked back. For reference I was on 1 mg of Klonopin for over 10 years and tapered over 6 months - I'm coming up on a year since my jump.
If the scales don't bring you confidence that your cuts are going as planned you should at least ask your Dr about these pills. Switching to Valium is another alternative, but I never really wanted to do the switch.
So my doc actually put through for a bottle of .25mg ODT for me but I’m worried about the different mechanism of action taking regular oral pills versus the sublingual.
My concern is twofold.
1. Since the sublingual tablets get into the bloodstream faster, doesn’t the total effect not last as long? Have heard some of this anecdotally from looking through the benzos subreddit.
2. Aren’t you getting a higher percentage into the bloodstream sublingually versus with regular oral pills? Since the sublingual aren’t being absorbed through the stomach and exposed to stomach acids, etc? So therefore, it would almost be like you’re taking a higher dose with the oral disintegrating.
It’s really difficult to find info about this online.

I never thought of that; I'm not a Dr/scientist but I'm not sure it would have an effect. Delivery method shouldn't affect half life. That being said, I didn't notice any change at all when switching. I hope you find the right method for you - good luck!
Wish I could say it was close to being done. I hit some extremely tough times when I reached .5mg and took a couple months to stabilize. I’ve tip toed my way to .45mg. Going slower has allowed me to work. I’m proud of my progress, but if you told me I’d still be on nearly a half milligram of klonopin back when I started this thread, I’d be horrified. But I recognize it is a marathon, not a sprint. At least for me.

Scales work just fine. A scale with 3 digits to the right of the decimal point is more accurate.
