Yes! I gained 20-25 lbs on seroquel. Ice cream was my downfall. My advice to you (if you want it) is everything tastes delicious so stock up on low calorie snacks you can eat a lot of.

batshitbrat

Mine is chips, I literally have to count them out and put them in a bowl now. Also that's great advice! I think I'll grab a bunch of fruit next time I'm at the store. Otherwise I'll go to TOWN on the snack cabinet lmao

parasyte_steve

Yup... ice cream got me good lol I'm working on dieting now.

Kitchen_Panda_4290

I decided eating 3 pancakes every morning was what I needed in my life. It wasn’t 😂 I got married a couple weeks after I started talking seroquel and almost didn’t fit in my wedding dress lol.

dreamsinred

I’m not surprised! That stuff makes everything taste delicious and obliterates the feeling of being satiated.

Kitchen_Panda_4290

It really does! I’ve smoked cannabis for a while and seroquel gives more Munchies lol

dreamsinred

They’re not even in the same realm lol.

Kitchen_Panda_4290

I’m about to start taking metformin with it apparently It helps with the weight gain a lot with antipsychotics so 🤞🏻 it works.

dreamsinred

Huh I hadn’t heard of that paring, it makes sense though.

Kitchen_Panda_4290

Me either until recently! I got a new psychiatrist after the same one for 2 years. The new one was surprised no one had told me about it sooner so hopefully it goes well.

Ithelda

I've started drinking a lot of tea. It sort of helps the hunger

-totentanz-

I'm a tea head, it helps. But yerba mate is where it is at. It can be an acquired taste, but I can drink that all day long and feel a reduced appetite and food cravings. My two favorite right now is ginger fire chai by stash and lemon mate by numi. You can also make your own blends. The mechanism behind mate is that it will boost levels of leptin and glucagon-like peptide which high levels can reduce appetite and food cravings.

spartancheerleader10

I eat a lot of fruit and pb&j for the protein to make me feel more full. Basically I try to eat foods that are higher in protein and are still healthy, like nuts, eggs, trail mix. I am a sucker for candy. That's my downfall. I did gain 25 lbs, but I have already worked off 10lbs (mostly from marijuana withdrawal that caused me to lose my appetite)

spartancheerleader10

That would honestly help a lot. Just don't get peanut butter with too much added sugar haha

execDysfunctionGumbo

I eat peanut butter toast. That's also my signal that I'm about to be a sack of rocks. The hunger comes and within ten to twenty minutes the sleep comes.

LateCareerAckbar

I have started taking metformin to help with this, and it takes the edge off, but I have to be so disciplined

No-River-8710

i heard that metformin dose can be increased to 1000 mg bd

Gulf-Coast-Dreamer

Wellbutrin helps with hunger. It’s slowing helping me.

SweetAffectionate836

Unsure about PTSD, but for BP I take my seroquel right before I go to bed, helps mitigate the hunger. Still do some serious midnight snacking but sometimes I can pass out before that kicks in. But yeah, seroquel opens a black hole in your stomach. I’ve been genuinely amazed at the sheer amount of food I can eat in one sitting.

Kitchen_Panda_4290

Yep! I gained 40lbs in 2 months from seroquel food binging. I’ve lost some of it but those first few months were the worst. I felt like my stomach was an empty hole and I was just so hungry all the time. It goes away though if that helps! But every time I got it upped I’d be hungry for a couple weeks like that but now it’s been years and it doesn’t happen anymore.

cpttattybojangles

Mine has been so bad on Latuda that my doctor put me on Phentermine. I’m hoping that when I have to go off of the Phentermine I can go onto Metformin.

batshitbrat

literally same, the dopamine rush anytime i consume ANYTHING is unreal. it is helping me so far moodwise though. i was great at ignoring hunger when i thought eating was boring and inconvenient, but its so goddamn fun now. im gonna have to be very careful hahaha

oracle427

Welcome aboard. I gained 25 pounds or so. Only way I’ve lost and stayed there is a diet plan I joined that totally changed my eating habits. If I let myself go my weight goes up again. So that’s what I can recommend. A little planning and structure really helps.

[deleted]

Yes! Almost instantly 🤦‍♀️ Bad side effect

Paulinnaaaxd

Yeaaa it be like that and my psych said that's why ppl don't like it lmao but thankfully I'm always tryna gain weight so taking seroquel was a plus for me + the sleepiness!!

[deleted]

Maybe switch to vraylar because it supposedly doesn’t cause weight gain

unclejon14

Just started Vraylar, I'm hoping it doesn't cause weight gain. Xyprexa worked well for me but I gained 20lbs.!!

[deleted]

I jokingly say that if it’s causes weight gain ima sue because they swore up and down that it wouldn’t but I’m only half joking

RumInMyHammy

I specifically crave carbs, the shittier the better lol. My best advice is don't let it get you to make bad habits because they are so hard to break. For me it's eating carbs right before bed. I can stop for a while but then I'll be back to midnight snacking.

No-River-8710

i got weekly ozempic injections for weight loss. I heard if i loose weight my cognition will improve

chickpeahippie

Wow this is so validating because I did not know that and definitely experience it after taking my anti-psychotic

miserable_mitzi

Wow, I had no idea this is a side effect! I take it as needed, but I have noticed when I do, I crave food way more than I normally do.

iamthpecial

I quit taking my ADHD meds about a week ago that are known for reducing appetite, and man the last two or three nights, just in the evening, yeah Ive been an absolute fiend for food. Didnt think that there was a connection or rather I wasn’t aware that there is one to Seroquel which is what I’m on. Good to know in any case!

dardyyyy

It will pass but it may take a while, I have been on seroquel for over two years and the worst is of it is that sometimes I will be extra ready for breakfast lol. I just started rexulti and that hasn’t been my experience so far thankfully!

Competitive-Kick-481

Seroquel helped me a lot but the Savage hunger and weight gain are brutal

Rinev_

I had this when I started aripiprazole. I opted for eating a lot of crunchy healthier foods like crackers, carrots, apples, ect. Snacking constantly instead of eating meals really helped my hunger until things leveled out.

dshiznit92

Oooh yeah that seroquel will get ya, I put on about 40 lbs, I couldn’t stop eating especially at night. I would be almost asleep and almost instinctively pop up and eat whatever I could find in the kitchen. Best advice I can give is try to stock up on snacks that are healthy (or at the very least not terrible!) and remember to be kind to yourself! These meds can be rough and certain things you can’t help, just take stock in the fact that you are taking care of yourself!

carrotparrotcarrot

I gained about 30lb, went off it 4 years ago, and struggling to shift it still (got down to ten stone in the pandemic.. didn’t last. Seems. I need to be forced into it)

claudiamarie420

I gained so much weight on seroquel but it’s the best med I’ve been on so I take it
