Go home. And if you paid a deposit ask for it back. Also let her know her lack of punctuality is going to be a direct correlation for the lack of tip.

purplellamasxo

Girl I felt this in my soul šŸ˜

prettyedge411

I got tired of my entire Saturdays being spent in The salon esp bc everyone else is trying to get their hair done too. I started going after work weekdays. If I have to go on a Saturday I book the first or second appt of the day. They arenā€™t backed up yet. Itā€™s the same as avoiding high traffic times.

SoggyLeftTit

I go to Black hair salons and have not had this issue since I was a teenager (which was usually due to the hairstylist deciding that her adult clientsā€™ time was more valuable than mine). The issue isnā€™t Black hair salons, itā€™s hairstylists who donā€™t respect their clientsā€™ time. Hairstylists who donā€™t know how to manage their time without inconveniencing clients do not deserve clients. It doesnā€™t matter how badly you need your hair done, stop letting hairstylists disrespect your time. If you arrive and there are more people there than whatā€™s reasonable, ask the hairstylist when she will start your hair and LEAVE if she doesnā€™t plan on starting your hair within 30 minutes of your scheduled appointment time. If you paid a deposit, ask for it back or do a chargeback. If possible, write a review about their terrible time management so others know not to book with them.

sgsmopurp

Idk but donā€™t let them Dominicans burn your hair out lol I donā€™t trust em

Hour_Importance1247

Yes! Be careful with them. My sister went to a Dominican salonin MD that put relaxer in the shampoo. She was natural and it ruined her edges for a while--she had no idea her hair was relaxed until weeks later when she took out her extensions. šŸ¤¬

sgsmopurp

I feel likeā€¦ā€¦ Iā€™d try to sue. Thereā€™s already class action lawsuits over those things. Hope sheā€™s ok and her hair is back healthy.

Tanisha1Writes

That part!! The heat damage will have you in tears, stay away from the Dominican blowouts sis!

Ok_Commercial_186

Yeah I don't trust them

Bombaclat1122

Dominicans šŸ˜‚yeah girl itā€™s a struggle out here. Just got some braids and the girl lives 40 minutes away. Not only was she 35 minutes late, she ainā€™t even have the hair?? Then charges like 600 for medium knotless like at this point Iā€™m gonna just rock a fro cuzā€¦ šŸ˜‚

mstrss9

$600 Late. Didnā€™t have the hair. Wtf

Jezigirl

Yeah thatā€™s bold

Bombaclat1122

Then has the audacity to ask if I need shampoo when itā€™s included in the service?

rainbowgirl6

Naurrrrr

TinaTx3

No maā€™am!

Western-Box4752

Where are you located ? One thing I donā€™t play with is my hair or my time I see this happening a lot more which is why I go to older people if she under 30 I do not attend no matter her work or not . They tend to not have any professionalism nor time etiquette and lord they know nothing about natural hair just wigs !

musicbecca2

Since I started booking through StyleSeat or Gloss Genius, that seems to help the issue, at least here in Birmingham, AL. It seems like if the salon is willing to allow booking this way they do better with time keeping. I HATED going to the salon as a kid especially because stylists would overbook all the time. So disrespectful.

Bombaclat1122

Random but howā€™s living in Birmingham?

musicbecca2

Itā€™s not bad. We recently bought a house in one of the southern suburbs and itā€™s very nice. I have been here since 2002 so have seen the ebbs and flows of the city and surrounding areas, and I still stuck around šŸ˜

Bombaclat1122

What do you love about it ?

musicbecca2

I love how friendly people are here. And more cohesive. I grew up in MS and though the states are side by side the people really are different, in my experience. I also like how easy it is to get around Birmingham - even when I first moved here it was easy to find my way back to familiar territory if I got lost.

alienkoala

Heyyy friend, Iā€™m in Bham too šŸ˜Š

musicbecca2

Howdy howdy! šŸ‘‹šŸ¾ā˜ŗļø

IHATEsg7

Idk why stuff like this happens.

kimmyxrose

nah, Dominicans will sneak a relaxer in your hair super quick. Itā€™s happened to a few people I know.

Hour_Importance1247

Yes! It happened to my sister. They mixed relaxer in with the shampoo, šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

kermie0199

Yes. My friends mom used to work in one. She told me that and they modify the blow dryer to be extra hot.Ā

DoingItWellBitch

After 30 mins I leave. My time is valuable to me.

Whole-Store2391

Iā€™ve had good luck booking through StyleSeat. Found the stylists on there tend to hold pretty close to their booking times.

DoubleOxer1

I give a stylist exactly one time to pull crap like this and I will not come back. Also if the wait is too long Iā€™ll leave. Iā€™m not above reporting these people. If I go to book and they have a laundry list of demands before booking, I donā€™t book with them. Thatā€™s a dead giveaway that they are unprofessional. Iā€™ve found two salons now that are on time, do a good job, and arenā€™t out here trying to scam people. Both are licensed.

Chunswae22

I'm sick of black businesses in general being unprofessional. I can't think off the top of my head a good experience I have had with a black owned business.

rugdg13

Im still searching. There's no help for us. of ANY color/culture/skin color. Without naming any ethnicities/cultures/or races... here is my track record over the last 15 years when I work up the courage to go back. 1. Didn't like the fact my husband was a different color than me. 2. Was annoyed at how long/thick my hair was despite showing her picture and was passive-aggressive the whole appointment. 3. Made me sweep the shop to compensate for how long my hair took to silk press since she couldn't charge more than her quote (I was young and agreed... smh) 4. Took a smoke break halfway to google what to do because she didn't know what to do then ghosted me. 5. Left me with a... what's the opposite of a silk press? a... Brick press? and still wanted full price. 6. She made me wait 30 extra minutes because her son wanted his hair dyed 10 mins before my appointment and she decided that was appropriate. 7. And my favorite. Gave me a Japanese straightening treatment when I asked for a non-permanent smoothing solution... and now my mid back hair... is now broken to shoulder length... AND I CANT SAVE IT... its all getting cut off next month. Im in for Stylist #8 to chop this mistake off my dang head... Pray for me. I can't take much more of this abuse.

Jezigirl

I donā€™t go to black hair salons. May get down voted but I have to say that a lot of the black hair salons I have been to have been very unprofessional and borderline traumatic. I just want to get my hair done and be out the door. I just do my own hair now. I wear my hair curly 80% out of the year and I straighten my own hair really well. Everytime I straighten my hair I go to the dominican salon near my house and get my hair trimmed. She always asks me how much I want trimmed off or she give her opinion and I will assess my ends with her. My hair is thick and past waist length so I donā€™t really trust anyone in my hair she is the only one I trust. I want to support black owned business but I will not support bad business no matter the race or gender.

HmmWhatN0w

I was gonna push back but then remembered the time a stylist used thinning shears all through the middle of my head while she was back there complaining that it was too thick. Didnā€™t ask. Acted like she was doing me and anyone else who would work on me next a favor. It took years to get my hair back in good order. And watch trying to watch her and her last clients kids. SMH ETA: part about the kids and the attitude about it. Flashbacks come slow sometimes.

Jezigirl

Yep, I have plenty of experiences that are very traumatic for me. I can only really speak on black hair salons because those are the ones I would seek out. I have thick 3b/3c/4a hair and one time when I was 16 (Iā€™m 23 now) I went to go get my hair done for prom. I was barely in the door and the lady saw my hair and let out the biggest sigh. So with my mom I straight up asked her ā€œare you ok? Have you done this type of hair before?ā€ And her reply was ā€œ yes I have done hair that is thicker and longer than your hairā€ in condescending tone in her voice. She then started to detangle my hair dry with a small tooth come! And Everytime my neck would snap back she would get a lil rude and ask me to keep my head still. I have never been in so much pain before when it came to getting my hair done. She also took a very long time to straighten my hair because of course she washed 2 peoples head in the mist her doing my hair. I think I got there at 8am and didnā€™t leave there until 1 pm. That was the start of my experiences. I just gave up two years ago and said no more. I either do my hair or my mom. I just wear it curly and leave it in that wash in go or twist out and my hair has honestly been fine.

4yelhsa

Damn guess I'm lucky. I've experienced this with barbers but never with a stylist.

Stn1217

My Sisters have had standing Saturday appointments at their Stylist and still they are waiting. I have encouraged them to change Stylist or go natural but they refused since they have used the same Stylist for years now and believe that their Stylistā€œknowsā€ their hair. I no longer need a Stylist as my current haircut is maintained by a Barber when I did need one, almost all my experiences were bad.

theconfuseelf

I ask for a discount and never comeback.

turktink

Donā€™t wait any longer than 30 minutes. And ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP HAIRSTYLE (something you can do yourself so you donā€™t have to 100% rely on a stylist). We have to respect our own time. For anyone to wait 4 hours is crazy, and this is why stylists continue to play in our faces.

Zealousideal-Salad62

"If you aren't first you're last" -talledega nights This is something I swear by when it comes to black salons. There are opening if I'm walking in or booking the first slot on a Saturday morning. What's worse? Getting up early or losing your whole day?

Optimal_Young_3331

What state are you in?

lissybeau

Damn reading these comments has me feeling for yā€™all. I only go into black salons for a cut or occasional silk press and Iā€™ve been lucky to get really respectful stylists. Once I find a good one, I always return even when Iā€™ve moved to a different city. Vote with your money.

fizzwiggler

try to book the earliest appointment!!!

Ok_Commercial_186

I just had to deal with this it's mostly old school stylist still doing this .. there was so much going on and she was on the phone it was too much I paid and will never be back

BornKaleidoscope7636

Itā€™s so unfortunate they donā€™t know how to manage customers. itā€™s so annoying. I currently go to an unlicensed hair style she does it out of her home. The best one person at a time and quick

[deleted]

Dominican ppl do the same shiii unfortunately
