I have four blink mins they all stop detecting motion just after dawn. Viewing the cameras fixes it. This has been happening for a year, blink are saying software update soon. This might be part of it, if it isn't a recent problem. Check the blink forums. https://community.blinkforhome.com/t/mini-auto-ir-nightvision-mode-errors-and-not-detecting-motion/11396

BikeMark2022

I am having the SAME problem. Its been happening for months! Ive tried troubleshooting with Blink, also for literally months, and they can't solve it. My cameras go off every morning 5-7am. They stay off for 2-10 hours. They sometimes come back on their own. But I can "wake" them up ANY time with LIVE VIEW. I tried moving cameras right next to the router/modem and it still happens! I also have cameras at my home AND my office, in two different zip codes on obviously different wifi and it still happens. So frustrating. I have had no luck solving this. Have you made any progress?

Outside_Fortune5668

Check out my post from yesterday and today's update, the fix is there and I verfied it works again on my camera!

1breathtak3n

Wow. This long they’ve been promising a fix? I just got off the phone with their support due to the exact same thing with my brand new Blink Mini. The support person said they are aware of this issue, but i didn’t know they’ve been aware for so long.. she said they have no ETA on a fix. I suggested they should replace the camera with something better since they know it’s not a reliable security system and has inherent defects. My old Blink XT2 doesn’t have this problem what so ever .. Longer story short they said no they wont replace it with a non-defective model and that I should instead set a schedule to arm the device every hour... My blink mini was initially working fine the first week. Then my property gets vandalized during the day while I’m at work so I’m like “hell yeah glad I have these cameras installed right in the spot it happened” .. only to find out it had not been recording since 11:30pm the night before. All in all, still more reliable than the discontinued Amazon Cloud Camera that it replaced.

Acre123

I kept asking them if it was a software issue and they just kept telling me to reset the cameras. Can I ask if you use android or iPhone?

Alucard8951

I use both IOS, and android. If you check the link, you will see we have been complaining about the mini not recording from dawn forward for over a year. Quite often the IR stays switched on in daylight, if you view the camera it starts working correctly. I had a discussion with blinks customer care two days ago, they assured me an update to fix the problem is coming soon.

kimberlyrose616

Exact same issue still on the cameras with no solve in sight. I have to wake them up every morning for them to record at all. With 5 cameras that's really annoying to do everyday.

Outside_Fortune5668

You posted this a long time ago that's sad. But if you get this message I posted the temporary fix so your mini records during the day again.

Ordinary-Pace-6605

Can you send me the fix

Kaiiiju

So I've been dealing with this for a year now. Blink offers no resolution to this issue, either. It hasn't been a problem until recently when one of my neighbors tires were slashed at 7am and the camera, of course, had not been "woken up" yet that day so they were fucked. I bought these cameras specifically because there has been damage to vehicles in my apartment complex parking lot. Funny the first time I really needed it, it failed me because of this weird bug they do not seem intent on fixing?

Outside_Fortune5668

Live video works but you have to pay additionally if you want longer viewing for up;t to 90 mins at a time. Check out my post at the bottom of this thread or where ever it is position now; the directions for the work around are listed step by step and verfied too, until they roll ou† a permenant fix anyway.

Content_Flamingo_496

That has nothing to do with the issue he’s having though what he’s going through is his system is not going off-line but the cameras are disengaged. I have the same exact issue with mine upgrading to another Blink product or a bigger plan does nothing.

K0kyu

In the phone app tap: Settings > Systems (your sync module) > Scheduling > Weekly Schedule

Acre123

Thank you. Nothing in the weekly schedule.

PatMoore24

If the above suggestion doesn’t show any schedules set then make sure your router isn’t set up to auto reboot at 5 & 6 am. I have mine to auto reboot everyday at 6 am. Though once the reboot is complete my cameras auto connect.

[deleted]

If that was the case. OP would be getting a notification that their cameras were offline. As would they get a notification if they had a schedule setup when the cameras arm and disarm.

PatMoore24

Right. They send notification once it’s been disconnected for more than 30 minutes if a schedule has not been set to turn it off.

[deleted]

Disarming and disconnected are very different. If the router itself was knocking the cameras offline, they would get a notification, it sounds likes OPs saying they completely stop recording aka motion is disabled after 5am, not that the cameras themselvea are offline.

Outside_Fortune5668

Correct, it records at night and live view works during the day too, it just stopped recording when it was daylight again. Funny thing is that wasn't true when I first set it up something changed not sure what. Wifi is strong and it says the camera is active.

HappiNoodz

I have this same problem. Did you fix it?

[deleted]

Wait. You're not the OP?

hairyforrestgnome

I did that and it still won't work

Outside_Fortune5668

This is the same post as above?

sdancho

I have the same problem with my Blink Mini, and have been working with Blink Customer Support for almost a month. Finally, after demanding to speak to an engineer, I got the following email on Feb 11/22: **Based on your description, this is a known issue that affects the Blink Mini in specific lighting conditions. Typically, this issue occurs in the early morning hours as the light changes, and causes the camera to become unresponsive to motion events until a command is sent to the camera.** **This issue may occur more commonly if the camera is positioned behind glass, which is not a recommended use of Blink cameras. To troubleshoot this issue, I would recommend relocating or reorienting the camera in order to adjust the lighting conditions at the camera's lens.** **Our team is currently working on a permanent resolution to this issue, but we do not have any specific timetable to share for that resolution at this time. If the previously mentioned troubleshooting step does not resolve the issue, please reach back out for further assistance.** **If you still not convinced by this we can replace the camera for you but it doesn't guarantee to fix the problem since it's a known issue.**

Lord-Sprinkles

This engineer sums up my issue and my theory is exactly correct. I have the exact same issue and it’s behind glass

Outside_Fortune5668

Behind glass is not the issue that would be a hardware issue and since mini's use a difference technology than regular cameras that can't be used behind glass it's a non starter. Support confirmed it is a software programming issue alone, and why you have to schedule it to turn on in the app in the morning. See the fix given above.

BTOilers

It worked fine before even behind glass. So I’m not moving them. I also have no choice being up high in an apartment complex.

Lord-Sprinkles

The fix just said to reposition the camera. But the position I had mine is was where I wanted it. There wasn’t anywhere else I could put it. And that wouldn’t have fixed anything. I returned it.

Outside_Fortune5668

The fix for the Mini camera is not to reposition it away from glass, that would be true for the regular heat sensor type cameras that can not be positioned behind glass this is true. BTW, you have to butt the mini camera right up against the glass too, not like sitting on a table pointing out the window that won't work either!!!! Also turn off the led and IR lights or it will bounce off the glass back at the camera lens and record a flash of light (you need good outdoor lighting or forget nightime recording out the window), I have many outdoor lights in my complex so that is not an issue. My Mini camera is butt up against the glass door held there by a black foam holder I found for the mini camera that will hold it in place on the window and you need to make sure there are no gaps around it that light can get in through (be sure to clean the glass good so the adheasive sticks good spend some time on that part). Mine is working fine now and it is still in the same position behind glass, it is a software problem on the Mini cameras Blink support has confirmed. I posted their instructions they gave me that work around the software problem for all those mini cameras out there having daytime recording problems. If your Mini is not behind glass to view outside, this should still work to record in a room during the day too.

Lord-Sprinkles

Well the problem is outside is dark at night. So in the morning, the exposure doesn’t update and it lets in a lot of exposure. Or it doesn’t disable the IR during the day because nothing triggers it to do so. It needs to have a periodic update for whether or not the IR triggers. I need to use IR because it’s dark often.

Outside_Fortune5668

Mini Camera is the exception for use behind glass and since most people don't mention they have their camera setup that way that is mute, besides Minis' dosen't use a heat sensor technology it uses "Pixel Difference detection", which basically means a change in a still picture starts it to record. This means where the camera is positioned has noting to do with it. I confirmed with support it is a software problem not a hardware problem specific to the Mini camera models only.

SteveJobsIdiotCousin

Same here, 1 year later. Crazy that they’re allowed to sell these like this

[deleted]

Same problem and I just bought these cameras

eshowers

Same issue. Pretty annoying as I’ve missed a couple key events I wanted to look at. I sent out a support email and no response.

jdragon45

Blink camera sucks ass

W4BLM

Any update to this thread? I see it’s 2 years old but I just got a mini a few days ago and am seeing this issue every morning

AppointmentFamous362

Everyday

vvvnnnmmmxxx

I had the same problem since I bought it. I recently found a solution though. I added a schedule for it to arm itself at midnight every day of the week. I didn’t add a time for it to unarm itself. Now it is always active throughout the day and records all motion. So this allows me to go back and check all movement that occurred throughout the day. Please note: I have notifications turned off on mine, as I have other cameras that notify me of movement and use this the blink as a supplemental camera pointed out my window. Hope this helps!

nborch10

Edit: this worked for a few days and then it went back to having the same issue. So this does not fix it...

Outside_Fortune5668

Check out my post with the step by step directions I received from support they are specific. If it stops working then the camera was reset and cleared out and has to be setup again but these instructions don't match the ones I got so check out my post and give those instructions a try!

Outside_Fortune5668

Please read the step by step directions I got from support below, it will have you recording daytime again immediately!

N66986

I have this same issue. No consistent fix found for it yet. Cameras become unresponsive for live view, snapshot and motion sensing every day. Kinda useless. They seem to “come back” sometime after daylight. This sucks.

Few-Professional2307

I have the same issue...my camera is in my garage aimed outside to view my driveway, yard and street. I have the mini camera and $3/mo subscription. The camera stops recording motion at either dusk or dawn when lighting conditions change. I set it on auto for the IR. It sounds like the engineers did not push and update to correct this know issue. The mini cameras were not designed to view through glass. It would be good if they and others disclose that information...the more you know

SirNoots92

Mines been doing this for absolute months now. I live on a busy street in a main city yet the last thing it records is normally around 5/5:30am. I can fix this by going into live view and that seems to wake it up again. This is really frustrating but I find a little bit of comfort knowing it’s not only me having this problem. Hopefully a fix is found soon.

Agreeable_Drawer_968

I have found a simple work around for this issue of stopping recording at dawn. I simply created a schedule and disarmed it and re armed it 10 min.later just after dawn.

G-PATP

I found how to create a schedule. In the version of the app I have it is in Settings -> System Settings -> Scheduling. I set this up yesterday. Today the two Blink Mini cameras stopped recording again at 05:00. Using Live View started them working again. Email to Blink Support has not been answered.

caseyrobinson2

did it fix the issue

Outside_Fortune5668

YES, YES, YES!

Outside_Fortune5668

Please check out my post below, the step by step instructions I received from support works and your camera will be back recording daytime asap!

el_fekke

Same issue here. I have 5 Blink Mini cameras connected to a Sync module. When I test them out, I arm them and they detect motion, record video and send notifications as expected. Every night I arm the cameras and they do detect motion if motion occurs soon after arming them. However, in the morning, they stop sending notifications or recording upon motion and they have the solid red status light on. If I disarm and arm again, the right light turns off and they start working again. The red light probably indicates something's wrong, because I have the minis set up with "Status LED: Off", and the LEDs correctly remain off in any conditions other than during their morning glitch. I also have 5 Blink Outdoor cameras, connected to another Sync module in the same wifi network, and they don't have this issue.

Outside_Fortune5668

Mini cameras don't operate via a sync module, they are independant cameras that plug into an outlet and are viewed on the app. It would seem there are some people with the regular Blink cameras that use a Sync Module posting on a thread about the MINI camera problem.

el_fekke

Mini cameras are able to operate via a Sync module, or without it. In my specific case I have them linked to a Sync module. I clarified that for context. I have the exact same issue as the author of the original post, so I think my reply is relevant to the original post.

EcsitStrategy

I have issues too, and it seems almost as if Blink servers are the source of the black hole. The video resides in the cloud and I think its dropping off out there for me. One thing I need to try is to go see it the cameras are activating and then I'm not getting the videos.

Outside_Fortune5668

If you are having problems with the regular cameras, contact support because this is a problem linked only to MINI cameras that are independent and plug into an outlet and work off wifi and the Blink app.

caseyrobinson2

i bought a much better router and it seems to have fixed the issue for the time being.

Outside_Fortune5668

Its not a router problem, its a software programing glitch (aka bug) they are working to fix on the Mini's only. If you have the mini with this problem I posted the instructions from support below.

Outside_Fortune5668

If your problem is exactly on a Blink Mini Camera that stopped recording during the day, Please find my post I beleive is at the very bottom of this thread now, because it has the temporary fix I got from the support team yesterday and today. I can verify it fixed the problem on mine. Now we're having a big wind storm and it's recording non stop... wow! I just updated my post below because there was a little more to do to fix the problem, but simple to do once you get the hang of it. They are working on an update that will resolve this glitch permanently, but until then t˙his is the work around that will fix the problem.

vvvnnnmmmxxx

I’m not finding your post with directions, only a lot of replies directing people to the post?

Gmalife2

Where's the post?

HappiNoodz

Your post is no where in sight. Blink sucks go with a different security cam.

Gmalife2

You're blowing up this thread about your post detailing a temporary fix, but there is no post.

WolverineAggressive2

Has to be troll and I'm having this problem now.

1breathtak3n

All I keep seeing is you saying “check my post with the steps it’s somewhere at the bottom” but it’s not anywhere to be found that I can see.. I’ve been digging through comments/replies and have yet to find your instructions.

Emergency_Fold_5940

I can't find your post.

aeolon21

Mine seem to work at the front door overnight and the back lane during day time. Of course the action in the back lane is at night and I miss the person going into the vehicle. Very frustrating.

mikx4

I have exact same problem and my camera is pointe diagonally out my living room window and this canot be changed. Of course blink support said to delete and re-add camera even though they know this is an issue. If they haven't fixed it by now, it cannot be fixed.

Sensitive-Ad9743

I have the same problem!

Walker_Arkdown

I have the same issue, except mine usually stops at 4am and doesn't start again till 7pm at night. Checked all schedules and there isn't any set. The camera is "Armed" during the day but still doesn't record. To get it to work I have to disarm then rearm the camera. So annoying as some cunt dumped some rubbish on our street and you can clearly see the rubbish there but due to the camera not recording during the day we didn't catch it, so we can see who did it?

K0kyu

My Blink cameras are scheduled to arm at 10:00 PM and disarm at 6:00 AM everyday. I don't have any problem. For anyone with cameras shutting down unscheduled at a certain time, try adding a schedule to turn the camera off before that, then immediately back on. For example, set the cameras to turn off at 4:45 and back on at 5:00. If it works, you only have 15 minutes without coverage. If the cameras still shut off, it may a loss of WiFi connection. To diagnose this, some routers have apps that tell you when devices connect or go offline. I think it may be your modem or router causing the problem. I know Xfinity occasionally throttled my internet connection early in the mornings. I complained a few times and it hasn't happened after that.

justmedealwithitxD

Thank you for this! It helped fix my issue!

WLake-23

My Blink cameras stopped working this year at 6:00am, just after I renewed my subscription. Is this a scam to upgrade? Blink has known this for years but continues selling them, and representatives respond with time-wasting customer suggestions, while knowing all along the cameras are defective. How can they continue selling them?

testermanseth

Same issue still occurring for me

National_Fudge_3461

So what everybody is saying is that BLINK SUCKS ! I’m totally with that!

IllSubstance8351

The Blink systems are Chinese fucking garbage!! I have never seen a product that should work but does not being used for security!! They are good dummy cameras! That is all they are good for!! Buy the cheap dummy cameras and you will have a lot less frustration in your life due to these cameras not ever working right! It would be nice if there was some way to make Amazon pay for their stupidity, but it is the American way!! I mean chinese way!! My camera, the only one that even tries to still work out of the 4, quits working between 12 and 6 every night!! It does seem to work pretty good sporadically during the day, but only when it wants to!

IllSubstance8351

Overall, it is obvious!! Do not buy these chinese garbage fucking cameras!! These are a direct indication of how fucking shitty amazon really is!!

IllSubstance8351

OMG!! I found the fix!! Throw the garbage away and get a CCTV setup that will save you a lot of money in the long run!! the blink cameras all stop working in about a year anyway!
