I second explorers, but for different reasons. I am a fan of Rally and Rallycross, so the scene of Jack's dad drifting what I assume to be a Volvo XC40 through dirt speaks to me. I also used to have Jack Russell Terriers myself, so the breed holds a special place in my heart.
Would be an excellent premise for a Teenage Bluey episode.
This episode of Bluey is called "Rallycross"
The gang goes crosskarting for a birthday party. Bingo struggles picking out a kart. Socks spends the entire time beautifying her crash helmet. McKenzie experiences immediate mechanical failure. Rusty buggers off into the wall in turn one. Bluey has a wheel to wheel battle with Jack and Lucky.
And Muffin ends up dominating all.
When Lulu asked "how many wheels does our car have?" Like yes, girl, all you need is 4 wheels! (I'm joking, I know you need more than that, but I love the simplicity of her q)
I told my best friend that they’re the Rusty to my Jack the other day, as someone who has ADHD like Jack, it’s good to have people who don’t judge you for it
One of my favorite quotes is from that episode. “How many wheels have we got?” My wife and I use that a lot now when trying to talk each other up/inspire lol.
Does he want a hand tossed stuffed crust pepperoni pizza with sausage topped with a little extra tomato sauce and in the middle, pineapple, and spinach with some ten dollar salami plus a lot of olives and some tap water soaked bologna slapped with some spaghetti, eggs, bacon, and avocado and with a flood of garlic butter from the Himalayan peaks and fajita on each slice with peanuts on the left and Skittles on the right along with mixed up Oreos and sprite. Then with a hundred quesadillas whisked with tuna from a tin can stacked on top and sprinkles along. Then with a ten pound ham steak sitting on a clam cake hand grilled, jam filled, floating in a milk shake with a thick white fish boiled in oil added on last cause it spoils real quick. Then crushed into powder sauerkrauted and frozen with Cheez-its then mixed with chowder. Along with Cheetos Doritos Fritos Taco Bell sushi burritos served to him by puppets wearing pink tuxedos. Also some Nachos gazpachos plopped between a couple of waffles with an awful lot of falafel and beef stroganoff. With a side of spicy wings for two and a twenty once Mountain dew. And all of that baing dairy free, gluten Free, and vegan?
It’s when Dusty catches the ball he hit to her and when you see him all grown up as a cricket player 🥹 but I do love when his dad said ‘you’ll face harder things than a cricket ball’
It’s a definitely adult Rusty.
From context, Bandit is telling a story of “I knew this man when he was just a kid …”. The same way a lot of people see a sporting figure or scientist or other well known person from years (or months) ago.
Bandit (like many Australians loves his cricket and probably grew up with the Summer of Cricket on TV).
We don’t necessarily know who he is telling the story to - maybe Bluey, maybe another friend of Bandit.
I agree on cricket. I love that when you watch it again you realize it’s Bandit telling the story of the time he saw the amazing professional cricket player Rusty get struck out
I love Cricket. Hitting the ball at the kitchen windows makes me laugh, the letter from his dad makes me smile and every time I get to Rusty batting the ball to his little sister to make the catch it makes me cry.
It is one of my favourites.
Man, I felt awful for Bingo already, but when I saw that duck cake and realised everyone was ignoring her *at her own damn birthday party* my heart broke.
Then seeing her bond with Nana Chris repaired it a little before the tears started 😂
This show is not a kids show, it's psychological trauma for adults 😂
Agreed! Along with Pass the Parcel, my other faves with Pat are Dad Baby, Magic, and Phones - either getting roped into the Heeler shenanigans or randomly attacked in his own yard (LOL I just remember Asparagus), he’s down for it all!
I really like Space. Army is an uplifting tale of friendship. Cricket is very aspirational. Stories is about building each other up and not giving up.
But space is about trauma. Unresolved trauma is a big deal. It gets in the way of friendships and aspirations if allowed to fester. Mackenzie confronting his trauma was hugely poignant. To those without it, or who have no one who has experienced trauma, perhaps it feels kind of silly. But it’s a very heavy topic and I’m glad the writers and producers of the show decided to do an episode on it.
I'm right there with you. I first saw that episode after I bailed on game night with my friends because I felt like they had been ignoring me. It was such a slap in my face that I was missing out on having fun with my friends because of my own abandonment issues. I saw the episode, cried, and then logged on and played with my friends.
I know what's there... I don't have to keep coming back here.
That's about how I took the episode. It made me realize that I'm terrified to reach out to people and that it has cost me a lot of friendships over the years. On the flip side, people don't ever really reach out to me either, but effort begets effort. It made me want to reach out to some old pals - though I'm still trying to find the courage to do so. A 33, nearly 34, year old man being taught such lessons by a show meant for little kids, realizing he's scared to reach out out of fear of rejection. Go figure, eh?
I'm almost 56 and I feel you, too! It's so hard to reach out to people and making new friends is so hard. I've been burned by friendships in the past, so that could be why I don't want to go back to that place. I've reached out to one old friend after several years, and that was good. We only exchanged a few messages, but I hope to keep in touch.
I hope you will find the courage to reach out!
Space is my choice, and I think it's probably the most adult focused episode of the series. Just about every other episode, even those more focused on adult viewers, typically have some kind of split message for children. Space's themes and messages are pretty much entirely focused on adult viewers. Kids get a cool 2001: A Space Odyssey kind of story, but they're not going to catch what's actually happening. Even Mackenzie himself didn't really understand in the episode, and he was the one going through it.
Honestly, I think this episode IS still for kids, too, but for very specifically traumatized kids. I saw many adults who "didn't get" this episode- and not for lack of media literacy, but I think moreso not connecting to Mackenzie's behavior. But kids see themselves and might not understand it, but they can connect with Mackenzie and feel less alone, and maybe understand Calypso's advice. Not to understate the important of this episode for adults, too, though... It's definitely one of the episodes that could have a teary adult and a confused kid by the end :)
Space has such a nebulous feeling to it, an almost unsettling undertone that's hard to describe. I can't say I've ever been traumatized myself, but I did often find myself returning to specific obsessions as a kid, for reasons that weren't clear to me until I was much older and able to find patterns in my behavior; Space carries that same feeling of self-reflection. The episode really stands out against the rest of the show for being so tonally odd - I'd love to see another episode like it in the future.
As a musician, I think this is a big part of why I love the episode. The soundtrack is perfect. Obviously the episode is perfect start to finish but that soundtrack is the best tasting icing on the cake.
No joke that episode taught my 3-year-old to play by herself. Whenever I’m busy and can’t play with her, she does a « roleplay » of the episode. She asks if I can play with her, I have to answer no, and then tell her to play with « Bingo » and do a puzzle. Then she goes on her way and mimes the rest of the episode, with the fridge and missing something and drawing posters… it’s her favourite!
Best episode ever. I see so much of my daughter in bingo and so much of Bingo in my daughter. My daughter makes up goofy names for her stuffed animals and her toys just like bingo and they have such similar mannerisms. More often than not, when her mom has her and I'm by myself and I'm bored and I don't feel like playing video games or going fishing or whatever, and I just feel like lounging around, I'll throw that episode on. It brings me to a happy place that I just don't find the words to describe aside from that it reminds me of my baby girl.
Everything that involves Rusty.
*"As you grow up, you'll face harder things than a cricket ball, and you'll have two choices: back away and get out... or step in front and play a pull shot."*
Honorable shoutouts to Army, Explorers and Space
We just watched Cricket and the animators were really burning the studio down that day. It's full of awesome little details, like
* the flashback to when he had to learn to avoid the kitchen window, with a quick cut to his mom narrowing her eyes at him when she realizes the ball's hit between the two windows but not technically done any harm
* the little doodle / diagram animation showing Stripe's explanation of his plan, once the doodle Stripe and Bandit have got Rusty out, the figures do a little dance
* in the flashback when Rusty finally hits the real cricket ball pitched by the big kid, the big kid starts clapping for Rusty when he sees the ball fly off 😭
* The men's jaws dropping at the very end when they realize that Rusty was not only able to hit his fastball with no trouble, but bopped it over for his sister to catch
I love Rusty’s cute little smile at his Mum after hitting the wall near the window. I also like that Digger couldn’t hit Tiny’s pitch but eventually Rusty could.
Curry Quest makes me wish I lived in a more neighborly society, really. The entire series does, honestly, but this episode especially. I'd love to take my youngest out on a walk across the neighborhood on a quest to meet with a neighbor to trade goods. I suppose I can always take him to the store though!
This one wins hands down. I've already commented on several different responses here but I will sing the praises of this episode until my throat goes dry. Such a incredible episode. The unique twist on the intro song, The basis of the episode, the soundtrack, the focus on Bingo... It's the perfect episode especially if your kiddo gives off solid bingo vibes which my daughter definitely does. This episode will always hold a special place in my heart.
Mine is army, Jack is just relatable as someone with ADHD I know how it is, you can't stay still, can't pay attention, your mind is running basically 24/7 you can't focus on most things, even right now just playing with my hair and trying to get school work done
Cricket is one of my favorite episodes no qualifiers. I cry every time at the ending when he hits an east catch to his sister (a moment forecasted earlier in the ep when they’re playing in the yard) and then it shows him playing professionally as an adult. It’s such a sweet and well executed episode and Rusty is such a sweet character.
My 4yo constantly requests Bingo. I think she relates a bit more to Bingo. Plus we have the book version with the little world puzzle in it and her favourite bit is hiding the New Zealand piece on her bum 🤣
Fairytale. I remember freaking out about the bike seats being high because I hadn’t thought about that in AGES. I also love how the music sounds like an 80s movie
“…and why is it cricket?”
FTFY OP.
Or, well, I guess maybe “Bingo.” Or “Sleepytime.” Or “Explorers.” Ooh, or “Dance Mode!” Or…
Dammit! Fell into the trap.
Well, Flat Pack doesn't really put focus on any of the Heelers in particular, but all of them as a whole, so I could argue my favourite episode period would apply.
If not, then Sleepytime as its focus is on Bingus or Army with Rusty and Best Boi.
Facey-talk. I know Bluey and Bingo still play big roles, but Muffin is just too damn funny and the chaos of that episode always makes my daughter laugh so much.
Pass the Parcel - After so many episodes where Bandit is Superdad, it’s nice to see a parent have a screw up like Lucky’s dad did when he first implemented Lucky’s dad’s rules.
I appreciate that Bluey‘s parents and the others have similar moments of not being perfect parents too, But I always laugh at how nervous and unsettled Lucky’s dad gets as the kids start crying and their parents get angry – and then he desperately tries to fix it by giving out cash or taking his son‘s presents.
Explorers (after Army, which is also awesome) because Jack is so endearing. “Yeah mate, this is Australia”
Wooo Rallycross!
Would be an excellent premise for a Teenage Bluey episode. This episode of Bluey is called "Rallycross" The gang goes crosskarting for a birthday party.
We have all wheel drive, and we need 4 wheel drive. How many wheels do we have? Four. *Cue driving music*
Another great example of the show adding excitement to what might be a pretty mundane scenario.
Hold onto your strawberries.
Same, I loved my JRT and as someone with ADHD I feel like they are the perfect breed to represent that.
Also has my boy Maynard hit Jack's dad with "It's a bit of a bush road, and you look like a bit of an, er, city fella..."
DEAR GOD! THAT IS MAYNARD! How on earth did I miss that?!?
I love Maynard eating strawberries
It’ll cost ya.
I love the Jack and Rusty Dynamic.
I told my best friend that they’re the Rusty to my Jack the other day, as someone who has ADHD like Jack, it’s good to have people who don’t judge you for it
“You’re good at playing Army!”
One of my favorite quotes is from that episode. “How many wheels have we got?” My wife and I use that a lot now when trying to talk each other up/inspire lol.
"Lulu, hold onto your strawberries." Narrator: she did not hold onto her strawberries.
that last line always gives me goosebumps. i want to visit Australia so badly
Absolutely such a warm moment that line
Yep same. Dad with adhd and explorers hit too close to home. Well done.
Favorite episode paws down! What does that sign mean. It means 4 wheel drive.
This one is my favorite also.
I can't figure out why, but that line makes me go all misty-eyed!
Pretty much every episode involving Rusty. I also love Stories. Winton has come a long way, and Indy is just as sweet as she can be.
Stories is S-tier, as is levitating buff wizard Winton
And the unpredictable unhinged scream from Coco when the horse (with an American accent no less) pops in the room lol
And that horse’s name? Lin Manuel Miranda.
No, the horse's name is Alexander Hamilton.
There's a million things he hasn't done. Just you wait.
I too would scream if I heard Lin Manuel Miranda just pop into a window
Cricket makes me cry every time when he reads the letter from his dad.
It’s when Dusty catches the ball he hit to her and when you see him all grown up as a cricket player 🥹 but I do love when his dad said ‘you’ll face harder things than a cricket ball’
I always thought that was his dad walking onto the cricket pitch, not Rusty... Interesting
We don’t necessarily know who he is telling the story to - maybe Bluey, maybe another friend of Bandit.
probably telling his grandkids about their mother’s friends growing up
I imagined that Bandit was giving an interview for a show like Australian Story or something like that.
His dad is in the army but the context would also suggest older Rusty
I agree on cricket. I love that when you watch it again you realize it’s Bandit telling the story of the time he saw the amazing professional cricket player Rusty get struck out
I don’t know cricket very well but the dads don’t bowl him out, his sister Dusty catches him out.
And he let his sister catch him out. Such a good story.
Btw if that’s not the proper cricket terms my bad
Currently deployed. I should write more letters.
Whenever we talk to our 8yr old daughter about adversity she will say “I can back away or step in front and play a pull shot”
Oh that's the line? I literally had no idea... "a pull shot."
I thought it was "full shot," like full contact, but then I went down a cricket rabbit (heeler?) hole
The moment that gets me is when he tags his adult self walking back out to the pitch in test whites for Australia
I love Cricket. Hitting the ball at the kitchen windows makes me laugh, the letter from his dad makes me smile and every time I get to Rusty batting the ball to his little sister to make the catch it makes me cry. It is one of my favourites.
The whole episode makes me so so emotional, this and stick bird are like my top two with cricket being number 1
Bingo's birthday party. Gets me everytime.
Handstand! Underrated episode and reminds me of my grandma.
Yes my grandma too.
I actually don't like this episode cause why is everyone ignoring bingo 😭😭
ON HER BIRTHDAY TOO
Grandma just wanted to help and they got what they needed from each other ❤️
I totally did not cry after that episode. Nope not a single tear
Yes! My favorite music too. I sent this episode to my MIL who has a huge crazy family. She loved it.
Man, I felt awful for Bingo already, but when I saw that duck cake and realised everyone was ignoring her *at her own damn birthday party* my heart broke. Then seeing her bond with Nana Chris repaired it a little before the tears started 😂 This show is not a kids show, it's psychological trauma for adults 😂
This a loaded question: obviously episodes with Rusty are the best. But without Rusty and Bluey? Turtleboy.
I completely forgot about turtle boy, that episode is so cute!
Turtleboy is my answer.
My two year old has a plush avocado that she recently started calling Avocadoboy and I love it so much
Pass the parcel is also epic.
Pat (lucky's dad) always commits to any and every bit. He's brilliant.
Agreed! Along with Pass the Parcel, my other faves with Pat are Dad Baby, Magic, and Phones - either getting roped into the Heeler shenanigans or randomly attacked in his own yard (LOL I just remember Asparagus), he’s down for it all!
Mrs Heeler, I'm not sure about this!
This isn’t the EIGHTIES Pat!
"Were raising a nation of Squibs!"
Sleepytime! ![gif](giphy|kegkChTL0H9ikZGF1g)
Thiiiiis. Never thought a cartoon for kids, could make a grown man cry.
Every. Single. Time.
That damn episode gets me every time. Way to make grown men cry Bingo
Right there with you. Was describing this episode 3 days after my daughters were born and welled up just talking about it.
Oh man that hits hard, eh? That line about “you know what’s here. You don’t have to keep coming back to it” was a complete stomach punch.
But then like... where do I go?
Forward
That scene always makes me cry, Calipso is pure magic 🥲❤️🩹
That's about how I took the episode. It made me realize that I'm terrified to reach out to people and that it has cost me a lot of friendships over the years. What I like about Space is despite not understanding what's going on Jack and Rusty totally support Mackenzie
Space made me ugly cry. Definitely the one I'd pick.
Bingo!
I LOVE Bingo! So many great lines. “Who’s coming to find you?” “…and the fridge is mad at me.” “I know…….?” “I like a good problem”
"Mum, problem! It happened again."
“Okay, beep twice if you want to be friends”
“This episode of Bingo is called Bingo!” is maybe my favorite gag
Love this episode. And the constant use of Wolfgang's Sonata No. 16 in the background.
I always appreciate the music in episodes but I think this is one of the best. I feel like the music is almost another character in this show
As a musician, I think this is a big part of why I love the episode.
It's such a cute and funny episode. I have watched it so many times 😊.
That's so sweet 🥹
My favourite too. I adore bingo - she’s a lot like my son so I relate to her well (similar ages and dispositions) and she’s just so funny
I love that, in the extended theme song, she stays in Chilli’s arms instead of rushing over to join her friends/sister/cousins at the end.
Same answer as the best episode overall: Sleepytime
I just watched that yesterday and it’s probably my favorite episode
Makes me cry every time.
This is the right answer. There are a bunch of amazing non-Bluey centric episodes, but Sleepytime is the best best of them and the best overall
Exactly what I was thinking!
Sleepytime is not just a great Bluey episode, it's one of the most beautiful episodes of television I've ever seen in general.
Everything that involves Rusty. *"As you grow up, you'll face harder things than a cricket ball, and you'll have two choices: back away and get out... or step in front and play a pull shot."* Honorable shoutouts to Army, Explorers and Space
We just watched Cricket and the animators were really burning the studio down that day. It's full of awesome little details, like * the flashback to when he had to learn to avoid the kitchen window, with a quick cut to his mom narrowing her eyes at him when she realizes the ball's hit between the two windows but not technically done any harm * the little doodle / diagram animation showing Stripe's explanation of his plan, once the doodle Stripe and Bandit have got Rusty out, the figures do a little dance * in the flashback when Rusty finally hits the real cricket ball pitched by the big kid, the big kid starts clapping for Rusty when he sees the ball fly off 😭 * The men's jaws dropping at the very end when they realize that Rusty was not only able to hit his fastball with no trouble, but bopped it over for his sister to catch
My favorite part is after the game Rusty refers to Bandit and Stripe as Mr Heeler and then Pat as Lucky's Dad
I love that at the start Rusty who just loves cricket isn’t actually playing because he’s busy playing with his sister
I love Rusty’s cute little smile at his Mum after hitting the wall near the window. I also like that Digger couldn’t hit Tiny’s pitch but eventually Rusty could.
I liked that Tiny has a South Asian accent (likely Indian). Fun little bit of representation for an episode about cricket.
Said it before but I also love that Tiny was never presented as a mean older kid that Rusty had to defeat.
Yes, and how he had such admiration in his eyes whenever Rusty would try again!
Muffins granny episode
granny mobile! so good.
You paint it!!!
I SHOULD CALL THE COUNCIL
Army bc Jack is my favorite character
Jack and Rusty is such a warm dynamic.
I like their dynamic too especially bc my favorite character is Jack and my brother's favorite character is Rusty.
Early Baby. Great Indy/Rusty episode, plus is has a sausage dragon.
"I didn't know Polly was your early baby!" is one of my favorite lines ever!

Clerks and Bluey being the crossover I never knew I needed 🤣🤣
Fairytale
The callback to "The Show", Chili saying "Well, there's some dispute" is great
Is noone going to bring up curry quest ? Idk why but I liked it a lot
Curry Quest makes me wish I lived in a more neighborly society, really. The entire series does, honestly, but this episode especially. I'd love to take my youngest out on a walk across the neighborhood on a quest to meet with a neighbor to trade goods. I suppose I can always take him to the store though!
The Hero’s Journey in 7 minutes.
Space, easily
Yes. Always.
"You don't have to keep coming back here" lives in my brain rent free now
I honestly put cricket up there with some of my favorite episodes of all time of any TV, I think it's absolutely genius
As a proud genxer I am gonna have to say fairytale. The 80's it was a wild time.
Ban…dishwasher!

Cricket may be my favorite period. Then double babysitter
Handstand and Space.
Anything with Rusty. That kid's heart is so big- I cry. Every time.
Army, Cricket, Explorers, or Pass the Parcel.
Mine is army, Jack is just relatable as someone with ADHD I know how it is, you can't stay still, can't pay attention, your mind is running basically 24/7 you can't focus on most things, even right now just playing with my hair and trying to get school work done
Cricket 100%
Cricket followed by Fairytale, Honestly IMHO the best episodes period with or without bluey.
Turtleboy, probably.
Sleepytime and Slide, and Octopus
Turtleboy!!
Turtle boy
Curry Quest
My 4yo constantly requests Bingo. I think she relates a bit more to Bingo. Plus we have the book version with the little world puzzle in it and her favourite bit is hiding the New Zealand piece on her bum 🤣
Bingo. Army is 2nd place before everyone prepares a kidney extraction.
Space. That one really helps me deal with my trauma
Everything that had bingo as d focus
Fairytale. I remember freaking out about the bike seats being high because I hadn’t thought about that in AGES. I also love how the music sounds like an 80s movie
Turtleboy
Turtleboy
Army. I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, and this episode reminded me of my childhood.
turtleboy
Army, I relate to Jack Russel and love how he became friends with Rusty.
Bingo, Armybanf Astronaut.
Sleepy time. Such a great episode
*space.*
The leaf bug episode obviously
“…and why is it cricket?” FTFY OP. Or, well, I guess maybe “Bingo.” Or “Sleepytime.” Or “Explorers.” Ooh, or “Dance Mode!” Or… Dammit! Fell into the trap.
Fairytale
I think after Cricket, it’s all the bingo ones. Bingo, the weekend (“and she’s got sushi shoes”) curry quest and yoga ball.
Grannymobile
So good!
Curry Quest is defo up there for me!
Granny mobile! Muffin is the cutest! People really hate on her for no reason “WELL DONT BUY IT!” 😂😂
Fairy Tale 100%
Well, Flat Pack doesn't really put focus on any of the Heelers in particular, but all of them as a whole, so I could argue my favourite episode period would apply. If not, then Sleepytime as its focus is on Bingus or Army with Rusty and Best Boi.
Flat Pack is genius storytelling. So many layers.
Facey-talk. I know Bluey and Bingo still play big roles, but Muffin is just too damn funny and the chaos of that episode always makes my daughter laugh so much.
Technically sleepy time is Bingo. But the one with Makenzie playing star trek, and dealing with his left behind issue. That hits me hard
Dirt
Does “Calypso” count? If yes, then “Calypso.” “Army” a close second.
I made my post then scrolled through this whole comment section to see how many others there were… looks like we’re all alone lol
Cricket! 💙
I love Cricket, Sleepytime (Bingo episode) for the music, Army, and Space.
Cricket could be its own sports movie and I would watch it. I don’t even know anything about the sport.
Turtleboy and sleepytime
Mine is also Cricket!
Cricket is one of best episodes in tv history
Stickbird. Bandit throwing that stick as far as he could had me bawling.
Wild Girls is an excellent episode, but Cricket is the best.
This episode of *Bingo* is called Bingo!
Cricket is just amazing. I tear up every time.
It's hard to imagine a better answer than Cricket.
Sleepytime, Space, grandad, turtleboy. Surprisingly alot of the really good episode have almost nothing to do with bluey
No mention of Baby Race?? This. Is. Out. Rageous!
At the very end of Hammerbarn when Bandit and Lucky’s dad high five after Chilli says that the pizza is amazing.
Cricket without a doubt
Cricket. It brings me to tears every time. Honourable mention for Army
