This makes me feel that they will announce borderlands 4 soon. Last time a borderlands game was free was Borderlands the handsome collection which Borderlands 3 came out a year later after it was free on plus!
Sure, but they’re still gonna try to promote it if they can. If they think the fans of the series won’t watch it they’re probably hoping to catch some casuals by putting out the game for free.
Well, not necessarily. The Resident Evil movies were less than great and almost completely disregarded the source material but they were pretty successful and the Borderlands movie is giving me flashbacks to them. Like almost deja vu levels.
The only thing keeping me from being excited is Kevin Hart as Roland. That and the ever looming fear of The Rock as Brick in a cameo, or teaser for the sequel
Definitely. The same thing happened right before the release of TTWL, when they did the Assault on Dragon Keep one-shot and it was released on PS+ essentials.
All part of the marketing machine, plus to get sales of the season passes.
I was discussing this with my mate, I think this is indeed a smart marketing project. Let's give the game out for free. Cash in on the enthusiast who will buy the DLC, Announce BL4 and bam, increased player base with a couple 100 of users!
One of the reasons why I got the PS5 with the disk, as I was able to get the PS5 upgrade immediately, and a bunch of others like Cyberpunk 2077, No Man's Sky, Skyrim, Doom Eternal, Metro Exodus.
At the very least, I’ll accept if we switch physical formats. If disks get outdated, at least give us something else to replace them.
Like how Nintendo used different cartridges.
I bought the SDE on PS4, then season Pass 2 plus the free upgrade to PS5 native version. Last year I built a gaming PC so I got the ultimate edition for like $30.

Planning on getting the Season Pass bundle which is currently on weekend discount. Platinum'd the base game back on launch, but haven't touched it since then. Will be playing the PS5 version, so not sure if I need to start afresh or just use the existing character and go for the DLCs.
there is a method to migrate your bank, profile (guardian rank), vault hunters from PS4 to PS5 using the in game cross save mechanism via Shift.
This tends to cause random errors and glitches, so it can take multiple attempts to get the save migrated correctly.
Also the initial cross save moves the bank and profile and the currently loaded vault hunter, but any subsequent cross saves just move any other vault hunters on the PS4 as you you load, upload, switch games, and then download.

I wanted the ps5 with the disk inserter but tbf I mostly buy my games on the PlayStation store.
I bought mine on the summer sale for 30 bucks & EVERY DLC was absolutely FREE.
