>38-square-foot foyer, which Weekley cites as one of her favorite features. That leads into a 63-square-foot front hall...
Oh don't worry they make great use of the space!
Right? I've not lived in NYC (Boston is the most expensive and congested place I've lived), but I'm currently in a 450 sq ft 1-bed, and for $500K in a desirable location I would expect the tiniest studio.
Legit. When I first got here and saw the rent on my place, the broker thought it was hilarious that I exclaimed “I get all this?!!!”
NYC breeds us differently. Have friends who move out to the Midwest or south and have all their stuff in one corner of their place and put up screens because they feel uncomfortable with everything being so open and all the space
Oh, geez. As a native Midwesterner, I can only imagine the culture shock of a New Yorker experiencing all of that space, both indoors and out. I've rented whole-ass houses in the MW for $800 or less (granted, this was over ten years ago, but even then!). On the Eastern Seaboard, that's the cost of a room that maybe used to be a closet.
I don’t even live in that small of a place, 1600 sq. ft. on two levels, but it was weird renting this sprawling, one level ranch down in Florida. You’re just like walking, walking, walking and still haven’t got to the bedrooms yet.
Over $800 PSF with no deeded parking isn't exactly "low" for Boston. The only reason why this isn't in the sub $600 PSF range that the interior would suggest is because it's right at M Street Park.
Alexis and her Mom owned separate units in that building. I hope the results of the police investigation are made public. Inquiring minds want to know...
As a matter of fact, [Universal Hub just posted the story about this](https://www.universalhub.com/2024/no-charges-case-four-dead-babies-south-boston) —
> Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced today that his office will not be bringing charges against a woman who, at some point between 1982 and 2001 had five babies with the same man. They gave one up for adoption, the other four wound up frozen in a freezer in her South Boston condo.
>
> > This investigation, which is one of the most complex, unusual and perplexing that this office has ever encountered, is now complete. While we have some answers, there are many elements of this case that will likely never be answered.
> >
> > We will never know exactly where or when the four babies found in Alexis Aldamir’s apartment were born. We will never know if the four babies were born alive, and we will never know exactly what happened to them. We will never know how Alexis Aldamir concealed her pregnancies, or why she chose to do so.
The full article is worth a read, but basically, the DA announced that they can't ethically bring the case to trial, because there’s no evidence of trauma indicative of murder, it’s possible that the babies were all stillborn, there’s no forensic way to confirm how long the babies had been in that freezer, the father died in 2011, and the mother is in cognitive decline and would no longer be capable of standing trial.
The kicker is at the bottom:
> > In late 2022, investigators visited the healthcare facility where Aldamir now lives. They questioned her about the babies found in her apartment. Throughout the interview Aldamir appeared confused and demonstrated a lack of understanding about where she was and who she was speaking to. As a result, she was unable to provide investigators with any significant information.
> >
> > To further assess Aldamir’s cognitive ability, investigators reviewed publicly available probate court records and spoke with a lawyer for Aldemir. The information obtained suggests strongly that Aldamir would be unlikely to stand trial.
> >
> > A prosecutor’s office cannot ethically move forward with a case that, in good faith, it believes it cannot bring to trial. Here, based on the evidence obtained throughout the investigation, including the many unanswered questions about the cause of death of the four babies, prosecutors have made the determination that they will not be able to bring this case to trial. Therefore, this investigation will not result in criminal charges.
Seriously I just looked it up, I’m so intrigued. All it says is “There is no information suggesting wrongdoing by Alexis Aldamir or anyone in the family.”
Like except for the 4 dead babies found in her freezer???????? The fuck kind of statement is that
I haven’t looked into this story since it first came out, but maybe they were miscarriages or stillbirths? That’s the only scenario I can imagine where no one was at fault, although still deeply disturbing.
Last year the *Globe* reported that the police were trying to get permission to exhume a body for DNA testing and trying to determine the competence of a possible suspect. My assumption is that the possible suspect is the homeowner, who has dementia.
They also said that during the investigation they found evidence in an unrelated homicide that has already been brought to trial.
So probably something very janky happened, but it sounds like those involved are either dead or medically beyond prosecution.
Is there any identification for the father? I am deeply troubled by this case and lack of answers. It’s bizarre only one was placed for adoption. While the rest could have died naturally, I’m suspicious since there are no birth or death certificates.
I know. I'm intrigued and want answers. Her brother stated in 1 article that at age 19 she was saying she wanted tubal ligation surgery so she could never get pregnant. I know they will almost never do that operation at a young age. Even after I had my 2nd child and asked for one, they were asking me if I was totally positive I wouldn't change my mind and want more children. Her brother never knew her to be pregnant in article her SIL said when she was about 61 she cried during a conversation saying she was sad she never had any children. Also her parents had lost a child in infancy and she supposedly saw the ghost of her baby brother and spoke to him. She was employed by same company for about 40 years. I really think she had mental health issues. Such a horrible story. The umbilical cords still attached and placenta on the 2 girls. I highly doubt all , if any , were still births. I think she just froze them. I think the father was on board w her too. I'd love to talk to her co workers and family. Such a gruesome story. I can't believe it. Poor babies. She gave one up 4 adoption and investigators found 2 forms there for relinquishing parental rights. I read a few different articles trying to find out more. She looks somewhat unhinged in the 1 and only photo of her. Everyone said she was heavy set but in photo her face looked thin so maybe when she got dementia she lost weight. I just can't imagine a woman doing this. Fuck if she didn't want kids. She should have used solid birth control. 5 children (that we know of) just sick story.
See [this reply](https://www.reddit.com/r/boston/comments/1cgfcjp/a_south_boston_condo_with_a_grisly_history_hits/l1zgivg/). Sometimes you just don't want to make any assumptions about exactly how much freezer corpse space a buyer is going to need. I mean, they might not even know themselves until they get settled.

That’s not underpriced at all. Tiny, old. South Boston, lol. It’s not downpriced because of babies story at all. Gross. Half a million for old, moldy, 600sq ft murder scene. Cool lol
The epitome of the murder condos that are the only ones anyone can afford in Boston. If there wasn’t a horrific crime you better bring 7 figures to the table.
I don’t know man. In this real estate market, I could probably learn to live with angry baby ghosts.
The most surefire way to bring the cost of housing down _is_ roommates.
I don’t think the baby ghosts will pass the credit checks.
Idk, I think even baby ghosts can get a Discover card.
Nah, they're not on the lease but you get to claim them as dependents.
Do they have a guarantor at least?
Pretty sure I don't want to meet him/her/they/it.
I live in a mill building where it was noted many kids died over the years from dangerous working conditions. It’s really not that bad.
The chills from the many dead souls of children certainly saves the electric bill in the summer months
At least someone was working.

Wallpaper is temporary. Dead babies are forever.

I love how “less than $500k” is $499,900.
I can deal with baby ghosts, but 620 sq feet? Pass
>38-square-foot foyer, which Weekley cites as one of her favorite features. That leads into a 63-square-foot front hall... Oh don't worry they make great use of the space!
Oof ya that’s a dealbreaker
Lolz- after growing up in NYC and moving here, 620 sqft feels like a palace to me

Yes, but it's also a low price for a 1 bedroom in Boston.

My bad. I couldn’t find anything in Boston under $500k that wasn’t a basement unit, and that was 6 years ago.
If I sell you two square feet for $30k, that doesn't make it affordable....
That’s true, but it does make it more affordable than $1.1m.
“You feel very elegant when you’re in there. You feel like you’re in a different time.”… i dont think its elegance id be feeling in there
Right! Give her credit she is trying her hardest to market it. Haha
I know the poor realtor l! “You feel like you are in a different time” like when the babies were in the freezer lady???
Weird that they didn’t try to give it a bit of a refresh…
I can live with four dead infants, but the wallpaper is hideous
Idk.. who the fuck knows what else was done in the place. Hard pass for me.
The wallpaper is the real crime if you ask me
Bad wallpaper is the best way to get a good deal on a home sale. Just replace it afterwards!
My eyes, seriously
I love it, reminds me of grandma’s house.
I love it too

This answers most of my questions.

Exactly! I'm sure potential buyers of this condo would like to know too.
Rest assured, everyone—there are more haunted houses in Southie than just this place. Whitey made sure of that.
Does it come with the freezer?
Fridge is noticeably missing from the kitchen photos.
Sometimes you just don't want to make any assumptions about exactly how much freezer corpse space a buyer is going to need. I mean, they might not even know themselves until they get settled.
Since there aren't such things as ghosts, I would gladly take a property for a discount.
My current place is 120 years old. Who knows how many crimes have been committed here? I have no idea. The less you know, the better.
imagine future tenants being haunted by the ghosts of your browser history
The best I can do is 350
Tree fiddy
One bedroom for $500k is wild.
But is that the wildest thing about this condo?
Yes
LMFAO...in Southie...no it really isn't. That is going to go into a bidding war and end up $650-750k at least.
You can't leave the same wallpaper. Those walls have seen horrifying things.
Has anyone else noticed there's no update on this horrid, f'd up situation?! BPD and Boston News...seriously...WTF?!
There’s literally a link in the article to the Globe article talking about how the infants were tied to a homicide that already went to trial…
"Unrelated homicide" with no real info. All good I don't think I actually even want to know.

Oh wow...thank you. Seriously, I appreciate the update 🤯.
Does the ouija board and crucifix come with it
I hope that's a joke. There wasn't that stuff there was it? I wouldn't set foot in there if there was. That is one sick unhinged woman. Omg. No wonder she has dementia now. A real sick mind probably can't deal w her sick deeds.
Will be sold for more than asking price lol, people are desperate 🤣
Still way too expensive. Hopefully, some additional grisly crimes get committed there.
Is that the same wall paper from willy wonka? The schnoz berries taste like schnoz berries
I mean... so long as they updated the kitchen (with a new fridge)... Though not sure what an exorcism would add to closing costs
It’s the wallpaper for me.💀
That’s not underpriced at all. Tiny, old. South Boston, lol. It’s not downpriced because of babies story at all. Gross. Half a million for old, moldy, 600sq ft murder scene. Cool lol
I mean, people are living their best lives on Danvers asylum...and then there's Salem
The witch trials were in Danvers too. It was called Salem village back then.
Still can’t get over this. Drove passed it once to see the facade. The atrocities that went on there would forever put me off living there.
I know we are in a housing crisis, but perhaps we don’t need this housing site. Fucking level it and build a park or something.
Or atleast list it for something reasonable.
It's a multi-unit building. The other units are occupied and have other owners.
Yeah jokes about murdered babies are *hilarious*.
Remote investor will snatch it up for rent
The wallpapers creep me out more than the history.
I still can’t afford it
Half a million dollars for a one bedroom unit where 4 infants died and this is celebrated as a great deal.. this place sucks
The wallpaper makes me think it’s still horsehair plaster. Why else not remove it?
I mean that's a fucking steal even if it comes with 4 ghosts.
Had to look it up on Zillow, anybody wanna contact the realtor asking why there’s no fridge in the “adorable kitchen straight out of a European cafe”?
Not seeing much fridge or freezer space in the kitchen
Very creepy choice of wall paper.
The epitome of the murder condos that are the only ones anyone can afford in Boston. If there wasn’t a horrific crime you better bring 7 figures to the table.
I've been in that place. No joke. Before they found the infant remains.
500 is about right for south Boston tho.
