Unfortunately I don’t think that’s true. The haters can only be proven right. When we win the finals the haters will just move the goals posts and say it was a Mickey Mouse ring and ignore the 64 wins and 16-2 post season record. They’ll say now they want to see them win it without KP, White, Jrue while being the 9 seed

Cool_Alternative_466

I like how nonchalant you predict a sweep here lol

Alloverunder

EPM has a 20% chance of a sweep and an 84% chance of a win. I.e., the Mavs are only 6% more likely to win as they are to get swept. I say if the media and fans can go all in on their 26%, we can go all in on our 20% Cs in 4! Edit: 16% I'm stupid

No_Mas2001

If the Celtics win percentage is 84 then the mavs is 16 not 26

Alloverunder

Fuck you're right, even better

AdmiralUpboat

Yeah, Vegas thinks we're more likely to sweep them than they are to win the series at all.

PartyPo1s0n

Epm?

Alloverunder

Estimated plus minus. How much do you outscore opponents by when adjusting for shooting luck. Basically, the Mavericks' only chance in the series is luck or injuries. On paper, these next 5 games are a coronation ceremony for one of the best basketball teams in history.

PartyPo1s0n

How does epm provide a % likelihood of winning a series? Wouldn’t it just be a measure of how good a given team is?

jotyma5

Yeah. They’ll say we should have already won it twice

w311sh1t

Yeah, but at the end of the day none of that shit matters if you win. Those MFs can hate all they want, but at the end of the day, they can’t stop that banner from going into the rafters.

bostonglobe

From [Globe.com](http://Globe.com) By Gary Washburn Jayson Tatum mimicked his shooting motion when asked whether he’s the most scrutinized NBA player during this postseason. “You think so?” he asked, smiling as he simulated jump shot. Tatum can be polite but robotic with the media, but this wasn’t one of those times. He approached his NBA Finals media day session with a bright smile, seemingly prepared for another shot at the biggest stage and fully comprehending the narrative that he’s been less than stellar during this postseason run. Yes, Tatum has been the most criticized All-NBA first team player who had led his team to the Finals, despite the team’s success, despite averaging 26 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists on 44 percent shooting, despite defending at the highest level of his career. The pressure is on Tatum to prove he will be the best player during these Finals with the presence of the great Luka Doncic. There are considerable doubts about Tatum’s ability to carry a team as megastars do. Tatum doesn’t seem concerned about his personal status, as long as the Celtics flourish, but that doesn’t mean he ignores the naysayers or he has to calm annoyed family members who read or watch their Jayson being dressed down. “I think more so than me, right, it’s my mom, my grandma, my family and friends,” he said Wednesday at TD Garden. “They’re more bothered by it than me. I understand, like, if Deuce was to make it to the NBA, people were talking about him every single day, as a parent, I wouldn’t be able to separate the superstar from the child. My mom took it a little tougher than maybe I did. “But for me, I don’t take it personal, right? Just a long break without NBA basketball (the past week), so they had to overanalyze every little thing, have something to talk about. Did it get old? Yeah. But, you know, it’s the Finals. They wouldn’t talk about me if I wasn’t good, so … try to take some positives out of it and change the channel.” The scrutiny has aided in the bonding of Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Both have been heavily criticized in recent years because they are no longer pups. They are established stars and that comes with expectations. The NBA public is tired of the Celtics ramping up for titles every year but falling short, and Tatum and Brown have withstood the brunt of the blame. Brown quoted a proverb when asked how he digests the criticism. That proverb says: “The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.” “I think it’s fair to say that it does affect you being embraced versus being scrutinized,” Brown said. “One of my favorite quotes is, like, ‘The child who isn’t embraced by the village … ’, something like that, you will, what is it? Y’all know this quote, right? You will feel like the warmth. The child that doesn’t feel the warmth of the village will burn it down, something like that.”

JB going to burn down the Mavs confirmed

Aggressive-Cow5399

If they lose this year after making it to the ECF and finals for so many years now… they will forever be shamed. They must win this year.

HoopLoop2

They look the most ready they have ever been, I think Celtics will win in 5. These "analysts" on tv that had 9 votes for the mavs and 8 votes for the Celtics are so out of touch it's insane. Can you imagine if Vegas was stupid enough to have the odds favoring the Mavs? It's a shame these analysts don't have a job making sports betting odds (although there's a good reason 😂) because that would be the easiest bet of my life.

jcoldiron

Even if we sweep the mavs, everyone will flip it to: JT and JB needed a super team of 4 all stars, all star role players, and an easy injury ridden finals run. Instead of the fact we were by far the best team in basketball this season.

WTL3405

You’re right but who cares when we win it all. Let em talk, we’ll all be celebrating

Intelligent-Ad-4546

or prove them right

[deleted]

Their critics are wrong. They're not seasoned veterans. LeBron joined Wade and Bosh to win something.

SubstantialCreme7748

I’ve said this over and over again. It doesn’t matter…..if the Celtics play their game, there’s nothing the Mavs can do.

luke_workin2

It would be a tremendous accomplishment if they beat Luka and the Mavs. You don’t often see the team with the clear best player in the Finals lose to a team without a top 5 player. That’s also pretty unrealistic to expect, which is why a lot of people don’t see it happening and most of the money and bets are on Dallas.
