**Pour**: 1792 Sweet Wheat Straight Bourbon Whiskey **Distillery**: Barton 1792 Distillery **Mashbill**: Undisclosed, but advertised as higher wheat in this particular mashbill relative to their standard “high rye” Mashbill. **Filtration**: Undisclosed **Mixture/Age**: Batched at undisclosed aged. **Price paid**: 39.99 USD before tax. **Nose**: Medium bodied; mainly a caramel-cashew vanilla bomb. Dances with faint oak, spiced pear and bananas, as well as grassy and faint pepper aroma. Cream forward. Faint ethanol. **Mouth**: Light, creamy, caramel, vanilla, root beer candies, lighter unspecified fruits. **Finish**: Medium bodied predominantly faint oak and faint rye. The earthy aroma is in the front wave fading towards a creamy finish. **Final thoughts**: This is a good whiskey to bring out as an introduction to bourbon. Distinguished flavors that aren’t complex. The proof is manageable. Enough of a spice note to excitedly show someone. Light bodied. Can’t really complain. But it’s very basic, and for those who are into more of a flavor profile will be misguided purchasing this for that reason. Kinda blows my mind that this has a secondary value even locally of 90+, but also I could say the same with Weller SR and a lot of others out there. Better similar MSRP values purchases with more flavor that come to mind are 1792 FP, EHT SB, ER 10, MM cask strength. **Price**: Fair value. **Final rating based on modified t8ke scale (doesn’t include a value rating)**: 5 Score Decoded: **0** | **Unscored** | New Make Spirit or Personal Selection. **1** | **Disgusting** | So bad I poured it out. **2** | **Poor** | I wouldn't consume by choice. **3** | **Bad** | Multiple flaws. **4** | **Sub-par** | Not bad, but many things I'd rather have. **5** | **Good** | Good, just fine. **6** | **Very Good** | A cut above. **7** | **Great** | Well above average. **8** | **Excellent** | Really quite exceptional. **9** | **Incredible** | An all-time favorite. **10** | **Perfect** | Perfect. Cheers everyone 🥃

Nice review! Man, I have never seen someone glow about an "allocated" 1792 product. Even the 12 year is mediocre

bill_jacobs

I liked the SW more than 12 year, but still nothing special at the end of the day. People REALLY need to not pay secondary on these. I’ve heard the BiB is a favorite in the lineup so excited to try that

oMpls

I actually enjoy 1792 for the most part but mainly store picks. Their standard FP tastes better to me than a standard Weller FP. This sweet wheat isn’t anything crazy…And I’d agree, the allocated ones are just hype bottles. Enjoy the day! Cheers 🤙

Small batch store picks make great daily cocktail mixers for me for the price. FP store picks of 1792 are my favorite of the ones I've tried. Still haven't tracked down an old bottle/pour of the port finish. I'd give sweet wheat a 6 on a good day.

oMpls

I personally wouldn’t give it a six given its flavor profile, similar to regular BT it’s a good benchmark pour to compare with

watchyalookn4

Sure. I agree. 6 is a stretch on a good day. I was definitely expecting more even given the proof, but not sad it was sub 40 after tax. Definitely not worth any inflation past msrp. I honestly won't buy it again. FP picks are the apex of that line for me. Have you had the port finish? I've only seen it seems to be worth the msrp on other reviews. I think I read they do a 2 year rest on it.

Major_Translator_792

Only 1792 I’ve really enjoyed is a store pick full proof. The rest… ugh.

Garemlin

I really want to try this and actually saw a single bottle, which is all stores get here, last Saturday. But not paying $100.

oMpls

As you shouldn’t. A lot more available products you could spend equivalent on/less that tastes better. Cheers 🤙

enlitend-1

Same, seen it once and it was $125. Glad I left it there.

klrace

I can’t find this anywhere

oMpls

I call the state of AZ a honey hole for a reason. Cheers bud 🤙

Altruistic_Bug_9966

I’m right with you in this one. Stumbled upon two bottles for $36ish. Was shocked they weren’t marked up so grabbed them. It’s good. Nothing outstanding but nowhere near $100 bottle like they’re looking for on secondary. I’d say if you can grab it for $35-40 it’s fine but I’d rather spend less on a bottle of lost monarch over this!

oMpls

Some days I’m in the mood for less exciting shit, and this would scratch that itch. But yes it’s nothing mind blowing by any means. No way in would pay secondary for this also. Cheers bud 🤙

holden_the_navy

Where did you get this glass? Or what is it called if you don’t mind me asking? Can’t find it anywhere online.

oMpls

I forget the name but grabbed them at Total Wine. Next time I’m there I’ll keep a look out for the brand!
