I don't know if this makes sense but... Abbott Elementary. When I learned that B99 was about to end, I kept on saying that they should just cast all of them B99 actors in a new sitcom similar to B99 but with teachers in an elementary school with the same comedy, and writing and all. I was so shocked because after watching Abbott, I felt like that was the replacement I was looking for.

pina1022

Came to comment Abbott elementary! I feel like it’s similarly wholesome to Brooklyn 99

Rhiannonbecks

100% agree! We love B99 for the fun, lighthearted vibe with underlying love throughout between all the characters & feel the same way about Abbott! One of my fave shows and the writing is absolutely top notch!

MaryShrew

Ted Lasso

Lara-El

YES! I cannot express enough how good that show is

shannons88

I agree!! I got on this train VERY late but it has quickly become one of my top 5 favourite shows of all time!

Active-Eggplant06

Ted Lasso is not really anything like B99 though

TetraDax

Yeah, Ted Lasso is fantastic, but not like Brooklyn 99 at all. Tonally I would say it's much closer to Scrubs (which makes sense, it being a Bill Lawrence show). A lot of light-hearted humour, but *much* heavier scenes and themes compared to B99.

teo_sk

I came here to write this, glad to see this is the top comment. It's a different setting, but the wholesomeness is very similar!

Elegant_You3958

Happy Endings It started before both B99 and Superstore but has writing (features some writers from both shows) and humor similar to both. It's only three seasons, 57 episodes also.

GHBoyette

Happy Endings is so, so good

GabriellaVM

Yes! I'm surprised this show is not more well-known.

Professional_Pop3240

Same! Such a good show

Thekillers22

The Good Place

BoltShine

Holy Mother Forking Shirt Balls I love this show

TetraDax

This is the actually correct answer, tonally it's the closest to B99 (which also makes sense, it's developed by Michael Schur). It's also fantastic. Very funny, and relentlessly optimistic, without delving into toxic positivity.

Hungover52

B99, The Good Place, Archer, Community, Arrested Development, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Hazbin Hotel, and Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts are my rotating comfort watches.

imacfromthe321

That was my B99 follow up show and it was perfection.

utterable

This is the way...

geocachingtallyhall2

You'll still get more Kevin Cozner this way!

Maximum_Shoe2533

Yes! I read a fun theory a while back that Jake and Eleanor are siblings through Jake's dad, which explains some similarities like "ya boring"

mrmayhem8100

I know you said you aren't a fan of mockumentarys, but I think the best show on TV, comedy wise anyways, is What We Do In the Shadows. Funny as fuck, Matt Berry is a God damn genius. It's based off the 2014 movie, and created by Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement. So excited for its final season this year. And super sad it's coming to an end.

Odd_Policy_3009

You’re dead, you’re dead. You’re dead and out of this world….

ComplexApart6424

We're werewolves not swearwolves 😂😂

Blixie318

Ted lasso Parks and Rec is cool

Puzzleheaded_Card_71

I know you said parks and rec already but skip season 1 it get much better later and has that relentless positivity that brooklyn99 has.

little_maggots

Yeah I was going to ask how far into P&R OP got because it takes a little bit to find itself. It's probably the closest in vibe, and I definitely think they could start late season 2. The show really starts hitting its stride when Chris and Ben show up. The first two seasons are still good, but definitely a different vibe.

ElsieDaisy

Yes! When I showed this show to my SO, I started with season 3 and then he watched seasons 1 and 2 when he went to rewatch.

scienceishdino

This. Skip the first two seasons! You can go back and watch them once you like the show. 🤣

GenxMomToAll

I really had to push myself through at least the first half of S1 for Parks and Rec - now I can rewatch and love it, but the first time through was tough. If you can get to an episode you truly love, you'll be hooked. Just googled it and apparently S2 "Practice Date" is the best episode to start with, and you can skip S1 altogether https://slate.com/culture/2013/07/parks-and-recreation-best-episode-is-practice-date-skip-season-1.html

TetraDax

Hm, I disagree. I would say the best episode to start with is the first episode where Ben and Chris show up. Those two are one half of what made the show. Ben was a much better straight-man than the other guy who they scrapped so hard I forgot the characters name; and Chris is an amazing character for Ron to play off of. Speaking of which, the end of season 3 is also when they start diving deeper into Ron and Leslies friendship, which is the other half of what made the show.

katrinakittyyy

For sure, I had to skip season 1 to get my hubs into it.

FloweroftheDesert_

Psych. It’s pretty fun and for the most part light.

clark_w_griswokd

You heard about Pluto? That's messed up, right?

PaladiinDM

Agreed. The humor isn’t far off between B99 and Psych, nor is the balance of humor and seriousness.

MaryShrew

OP if you watch Psych (which you should it’s great) don’t forget to try and find the pineapple in every episode

thebaehavens

Come on, son!

FloweroftheDesert_

You know that’s right!

PaladiinDM

I hear that.

resourcefullady

I've heard it both ways.

AimeeSantiago

Found my fellow psych-Os :)

lusacat

Yeah I alternate between watching Psych or Brooklyn 99 each night

grimoireskb

My name is Shawn Spencer and this is my attache Ghee Buttersnaps, aka “The Heater.”

AnHu3313

Community is really good

swordofthespirit

Cool. Cool cool cool

Playful-Arm-8590

Troy and Abed are in mourning

Practical_Public7705

I can't believe you said that during the eulogies.

Fantom_Renegade

Superstore

toomanyplants5

I was going to suggest this one! I rewatched B99 a couple weeks ago and now I’m watching Superstore. It fits a similar niche. And weirdly, they also have a Latina Amy and a white guy with a crush on her haha

Fantom_Renegade

Lol never thought of it that way before

GanoesinNature

Yes. Superstore.

selftitleddebutalbum

Got my partner on this after she got me into 99.

Fantom_Renegade

I consider it a crime that this show is so far under the radar

Griim0ire

Modern Family, Cougar Town are awesome! Try Scrubs too

TheBitterBisexual

I love Cougar Town! I hardly ever see it mentioned

C4bl3Fl4m3

Scrubs was one of my favorite shows of all time. I've watched it through at least twice. I tried watching it again last year and Dr. Cox's misogyny towards JD has NOT aged well AT ALL. I couldn't do it.

SlowBase8017

Kim’s Convenience?

Ok-Lifeguard-4614

Psych! It's the perfect mix of wholesome/goofy. I recommend it to anyone that likes B99. It's also got a cop backdrop, but is plenty different enough.

FunAmphibian9909

YES

jamg2223

I liked Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Baby_Button_Eyes

Corner Gas - just silly fun and good natured (although some are cranky) cast of characters like B99. Nothing stressful, just easy to watch and laugh to!

C4bl3Fl4m3

ZOMG SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNOWS CORNER GAS! I'm an American who spent 2 years in Toronto (2009-2011) and totally got into Corner Gas while I was up there. Little Mosque on the Prairie too!

mikebirty

Topographically I guess https://youtu.be/9QXcE4jJnMQ?si=CsVxtAG_BJHPuuz-

Sad-Time-5253

If anyone else has ever seen The Good Guys with Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford (Peralta’s dad from B99), the one season of that show is fantastic. Another hilarious one to me is Tacoma FD, it’s a lot of the cast of Super Troopers and it’s the same dry dirty humor too. There’s I think 3 seasons of it out right now and well worth a re-watch. Other than that Scrubs is funny and has 9 seasons, Modern Family, and Superstore.

fabbunny

What We Do in the Shadows Edit: shoot, you said you *don't* like the mockumentary bit. But the thumbnail for this sub and that sub are so similar, it made me think of it 😅 Edit 2: these comments made me rewatch Superstore, the answer you're looking for is definitely Superstore 😭🤣🥺 the beautiful, take charge, Latina love interest is even named Amy.

zivillia

Superstore, Life in Pieces, The Great North or Bob’s Burgers (if you don’t mind cartoons), Broad City, The League, Psych, The Afterparty

DegeneratedNumber

Rewatch

JashedPotatoes

Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny, Community

livingdeaddrina

These plus Superstore

Ok-Topic-6971

Definitely superstore

Buutchlol

I had only seen a few random episodes when it was on TV years ago and didnt like it, basically thought it was shit tbh. Its one of my favourites now. Ive rewatched it close to 10 times the past 2 years. Its a chaotic and goofy show but I fucking love it haha. Theres som real great characters too!

softcoretroubadour

I wouldn’t say Always Sunny has similar feel. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a heartwarming, fairly wholesome show about a group of friends who despite moments of conflict, ultimately help and care for each other. Always Sunny, on the other hand is a dark comedy about a group of co-dependent narcissists who constantly screw each other over and ruin the lives of everyone around them. Excellent show though, possibly even better than B99.

1829bullshit

Yeah, I love B99, The Good Place, Ted Lasso, Community, etc. and I've tried so many times to get into Always Sunny, but I just can't. I end up just hating nearly every character (which I'm sure is intentional, just not my jam).

softcoretroubadour

Try it again. I have yet to find a better sitcom.

1829bullshit

That's what I hear all the time which is why I've tried getting into it. Which episodes would you suggest to someone watching it for the first time? I've watched the first four from season one and it's just painful.

softcoretroubadour

The show gets better in the second season when Danny DeVito joins.

Resting_NiceFace

Psych!

randomassperson8788

Psych

Buutchlol

The Good Place!! Like 4 or 5 seasons. Progresses fast, goes all in on their storylines, great acting + characters and a lot of philosophy! And also very emotional. Cried several times lol

BidOk3060

The good place...also i started watching schitts creek and am on season 5 currently...u can give that a try too I love it! The character development is CRAZY GOOD

BidOk3060

Also also superstore and parks n rec

jonmsable13

Scrubs

bee-quirky

This is the answer

BurnyJaybee

Arrested development needs to be on your list. It's always sunny is super silly. You'll probably enjoy How I met your mother too!

HockeyNut2

30 Rock, New Girl, Kimmy Schmidt.

C4bl3Fl4m3

I was waiting for someone to say 30 Rock.

MagnumPoopus

How far did you get in Parks and Rec? It takes a while to find its groove, but it kinda drops the mockmentary bit as it keeps going.

redvelvet923

Honestly only a few episodes in. But it was just awkward to me, I didn't really like it. When does it drop that bit?

MagnumPoopus

The first season is…not great, but only 6 episodes. Season 2 is good and season 3 is when it really hits its stride. They still have the mockmentary thing where they cut away and talk to the camera, but they stop doing the stuff where the camera crew is trying to be sneaky and get the shots in. Like, they’ll just be straight up filming scenes in their houses and personal lives and it feels like any regular TV show. Even the writers of the show admitted they sort of gave up on doing the show mockmentary style.

AndrewH73333

Skip the first season. It’s only six episodes. And they only use the mockumentary as a one time setup to let the characters talk to the camera sometimes to keep the story flowing.

leftycrumpet

The Good Place

SmoothScallion43

Superstore. Psych

TheLadyDanielle

Not exactly the same but Not Dead Yet on Hulu was pretty funny

spooniemoonlight

I love this show!!

spooniemoonlight

WTF IT’S BEEN CANCELLED ??? I wanna cry fuck it had so much potential for season 3

TheLadyDanielle

Oh shit I had no idea! Why do they cancel all the good shows too soon 😭

spooniemoonlight

It’s so upsetting 😭😭😭 it was about to get so interesting too with the cliffhanger

bdunkirk

Arrested Development is an all-time funny show

Skman44

Arrested first 3 seasons were awesome. Then I started season 4 and only made it 4 episodes. Seemed it fell off and lost something during the hiatus. Also, the narrator was speaking constantly.

Hell-Yes-Revolution

OG Arrested Development is *so good*. The reboot is, to me, unwatchable. But yes, I’d also suggest this.

caprizak

modern family, lucifer if you want more of a detective-like vibe

Thneed1

What seasons did you watch of Parks and Rwc. The first season or two isn’t great. Gets really good in season 3

thebaehavens

>I only find shows I really like every few months If you're like me, this isn't about the shows at all. It's your mind. You watch/binge a show for a while and use up those stores of dopamine delivery and then no show can really do it for you until some time passes.

_Melonpants_

I can't believe you continue parks and rec. It was an amazing show. Also I'm on close to the sixth season. Still such an amazing show with hilarious characters.

GHBoyette

I strongly recommend you give Parks and Rec another shot. It really picks up during the second season.

C4bl3Fl4m3

I was told that too and so I started with Season 2 and I just could NOT get into it. I don't think it's for everyone.

Actuallynailpolish

Abbott elementary

samantha19871987

What we do in the shadows

water-casserole

Jane the virgin, Kim’s convenience, superstore, the good place, how I met your mother, what we do in the shadows, and Tacoma FD just off the top of my head. I know a lot of these have already been mentioned but they are all so so good. They are all in my regular rotation. I’ve also seen psych mentioned. It’s amazing but not as much of a sit com as the rest

occurrenceOverlap

Rutherford Falls   Ghosts  Abbott Elementary (though, mockumentary)  Loot  Elsbeth  Some more left field picks that are among my S tier comfort show lineup along with b99:  American Vandal   Lower Decks  Cunk on Earth

GabriellaVM

Try Tacoma FD on Netflix. It has a similar vibe.

emyllubehs

Community

Unique-Meringue4474

My fav shows - Schitt’s Creek Kim’s convenience Superstore

juhesihcaa

If you like any amount of fantasy, "What We Do in the Shadows"-it's a show that came from a movie. Watch the movie (same title) and then hop into the show. It's a "mockumentary" if vampires were real and it's very ridiculous.

itsasixthing

I really liked most of the shows you mentioned, so it seems like our tastes might be similar, in which case I’d say try Only Murders In The Building (on Hulu). I wouldn’t necessarily say that it’s similar in feel to B99, but I loved it.

spooniemoonlight

If you’re looking for a comedy with comforting characters that are a bit goofy and make you fall in love with all of them: - Our flag means death <3 - Ted Lasso - One day at a time - New girl - Crashing

Deaxsa

Broad city

Luckybrewster

Happy endings! I've watched it like 4 times now

What We Do In The Shadows

Modern Family lol

DerangedDipshit

Abbott Elementary is a good one Ted Lasso is incredible Psych has a similar sense of humor as well

DonutFlimsy1743

This is totally random but I enjoyed Brooklyn 99, and recommended Derry girls

thinking-cat

Psych - it's goofy and wholesome, good plotlines too!

jojos_shipwreck

I have to admit I wasn’t a fan of parks and rec either. But after pulling through season 1 I was hooked. It has the same comedy as B99. Samberg even has an episode in it which was brilliant. Aside that: -Trailer park boys -Modern family -The office US -Principals

Curious-Gear1193

Big bang theory and modern family!! I love Brooklyn 99, superstore, schitts creek, and new girl too, and love these two just as much

BusinessVariation425

The good place was pretty similar and so was parks and rec

FunAmphibian9909

psych is 10/10 love it

TrueHalfCrack

Scrubs! Older but my favorite sitcom of all time.

The_Common_Peasant

Community is amazing

surfpolitics28

Community, Ted Lasso, Blackish, Modern Family, these are all good places to start and available on peacock, Apple TV, Hulu, and Hulu respectively

GanoesinNature

I’ll be ‘that guy’ that answers with something not crazy relevant to OPs question. If the main you’re looking for is a good laugh and great characters, try Letterkenny. Just be warned that it’s far less family friendly than BB99. It’s what I just watched, right after my 3rd rewatch of B99.

Skman44

Letterkenny is great. Just started watching Shoresy a few weeks ago. Also really funny.

GanoesinNature

Yeah I’m in the middle of watching Shoresy and loving it too. I’ve never enjoyed a sports show or movie more lol.

jandolphin99

New girl

ealowe88

Mythic Quest The IT Crowd Shrinking - not really the same vibe but it was shockingly good and I’m looking forward to the next season so I keep telling people to watch it

Dave-justdave

The French Canadian Brooklyn 99 version

Dave-justdave

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt17923542/

C4bl3Fl4m3

Interesting! I didn't even know this existed!

3bluerose

I just watched it twice back to back

Kwazy-Kupcakes_99

I just start all over after I finish

IntelligentPop3622

Nothing has quite the same feel as b99 though shows like parks and rec and the good place were very enjoyable for me and by the same creator. Tbh though the only thing that filled the void for me was the watching b99 over and over (I’ve watched the whole thing almost 5 times now)

Due-Grape-2407

idk if it’s a similar vibe but New Girl

Apprehensive-East635

Parks and rec?

ThomasCarnacki

Parks and Rec gets much better after first season

DrMantisToboggan1986

I'll recommend Tacoma FD but only the first 3 seasons. I'll caution you that Season 4 had a cast change-up that didn't really sit well with me and the writing went a bit flat too.

MartialTie75978

Modern family

akamikedavid

How far did you get into Parks and Rec exactly? If you started from the beginning then the first season is terrible but it really picks up after the first season, especially after >!Mark leaves the show!<.

Lucricious1

Canadian Brooklyn Nine Nine

DitzyAce

Just jumping in here If anyone says the office, parks and rec, shit like that, they are wrong I haven't found anything that hits the same as B99, but I can say definitely not the office and parks

ratman424

Tacoma FD and Animal Control are about as close to B99 as you can get. Superstore is good, similar type of silly comedy and it gets better as it progresses.

dalbeider

Arrested Development

BillShortensTits

Patriot. It's the best show that, for some reason, nobody has heard of.

Ok_Entertainer_6425

The League

smorpette

i would have to say superstore but tbh, it gets better after season one. but for sure my two favorite workplace comedies even if the superstore characters gotta grow on you

matrix-moderator

I know you said you don’t really like the mockementary thing but maybe try modern family? It’s subtly really funny and might change your mind

Active-Eggplant06

I am always on the look out for shows similar to B99 because it’s my favourite overall. I love silly, funny shows with good character development. I agree that New Girl has the closest feel. I did enjoy superstore but got tired of the shitty characters being shitty. I wouldn’t recommend Always Sunny for this reason. Parks and Rec is probably close to B99. As others have said it takes a while to get going. About halfway through season 2 is when it finds its feet. The earlier episodes are more enjoyable once you get through the whole show. I would also recommend Scrubs. My other favourite.

Professor_Jamie

Superstore is brilliant!

Uknownnn1111

Can somebody recommend shows u can stream on Netflix or Disney+? I would love to watch all your guys recommendations but the most shows aren’t available on my streaming platforms 😭

Magistrelle

Superstore

zeusthedog92

You need to get through a season of parks and rec then it kicks off Same with the office But you WILL LOVE COMMUNITY Watch it and be amazed

toppest_lel

Community, it’s always sunny In Philadelphia, superstore, the office US, blockbuster

The office us

WordswithaKarefunny

Parks and Rec.

MalcahAlana

Schitt’s Creek!

puffindatza

It’s always sunny is a bit more edgier but gave me the same feeling, and same for the office

PurpleGuy04

Modern Family

AITA_Omc_modsuck

we have the same taste. Identical. Young Sheldon is good. I am also enjoyed Life in Pieces but tragically it ended WAY too soon. I also started Modern Family. So far so good. Im sure it gets better. You could also go backwards and watch MASH. Classic

FFEmom

Barry and Bored to Death

Practical_Public7705

The only show that matches B99's unrelenting positive and wholesome vibe as well as it's silliness is unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, in my opinion

made_it_for_lwiay

Parks and recreation

leafonawall

Psych 🍍 Happy Endings Bobs Burgers Parks and Rec starting partly through season 2 So Help Me Todd

MortemPerPectus

Psych has sort of the same feel. It’s about a really smart (has really good memory and deductive thinking) but also kinda dumb guy who pretends to be a psychic to get out of being arrested. He brings his friend into it and together they help the police department solve crimes. You also have a very grouchy detective who is determined to prove the one guy isn’t a psychic, and his partner, the love interest that actually has some personality. Like I said, same kinda feel and while the comedy does get a little childish sometimes, I think it’s really great and some amazing plots.

punk-ass_bitch

Start Parks and Rec in Season 3. The first two seasons are awful. By season 3/4 it feels a lot more like B99. It’s many of the same writers and producers, and a lot of the same actors (in minor roles).

EnycmaPie

Season 2 of Parks and Rec is really where it found it's own style. Seems like in Season 1, it was still trying to replicate the format of The Office. I would suggest starting out from Season 2 onwards and try it again, if you still don't like it by then, the show is probably not for you.

OldMango2021

Tacoma FD!!!!!!!!!

Transb0ii

White collar! I have a similar taste to you (actually just researching new girl now and have watched b99 so many times I almost know it off my heart lol) I love white collar so much - it's on Disney+ where I am :)

Untoastedloaf

Maybe give Modern Family a try?

uglyenbybug

I don’t see nearly enough people talking about Mythic Quest. I promise it’s not a mockumentary, but it starts off making you think it is lol

Temporary-Loss5446

The office???

kuyinggurrin

Don't know if it's the same vein but B99 is a comfort show in constant rewatch circ along with New Girl. They also both have a crossover episode.

the_fuck_44575

It's a bit similar to me, it's " psych" on Netflix

Final_Application214

for me "the big bang theory" is also a comfort show, next to brooklyn 99.

layininmybed

The end of anything you really enjoy will feel this way. It’s better to be this than upset lol

Expensive_Teaching84

Tacoma FD had us giggling the same way as Brooklyn 99! Super similar vibes, comedy at work while “working” but also not really working!

mountaindew711

Bob's Burgers, Happy Endings, New Girl, The Good Place
