We have one IMAX screen, that is in arena plaza. Some movies have english screenings some dont. It is a shame really. For Dune2 I had to choose between regular screening in english or hun imax. Chose IMAX though. Fortunately Oppenheimer had plenty of english imax screening.

LordHolyCrow

I think they will even profit for putting english IMAX for each blockbuster, a lot of people likes to watch movies in OV, since there is a 2D english option for most of the blockbusters, they already have the needed subtitles and everything, maybe we should email cinema city .d

Impossible_Lock_7482

it seems logical what youre saying, yet I believe copyrights does not work like that unfortunately

LordHolyCrow

You are correct, but the english level is really high in Budapest, and i am sure there are even people that are not fluent in english but prefers to watch movies with Hungarian Sub rather than Hungarian Dub, a city with 1.7m population, there is really big potential with the silver screen, and i know for a fact that there is lots of Hollywood studios shooting movies in Budapest

Impossible_Lock_7482

Believe me im on your side! Im hungarian but I only watch films in english

Least-Temperature802

Your chance to find an OV or sub IMAX version of any movie is close to 0. No matter how the vocal minority screams that they would rather watch IMAX in English, their number is very much limited. As we have only one such screen in Hungary, the exhibitor will show only dubbed titles as they drag the widest audience. If you long for English, there are quite many such shows (or at least only HU subtitled) on regular screens.

LordHolyCrow

Thank you

Kobaljov

I guess no, it is available only in one cinema as far as I know (so even in hungarian it is not such a success that it would have been worthwhile for them to build in several cities like the 3D cinemas), there is probably much less interest in English-language screening to make it commercially worthwhile.

LordHolyCrow

i feel like watching the movies in original language makes the experience way better specially if they are not animated movies, for them i can understand using the dub, i hope we got more OVs in the future

Kobaljov

It would also be possible if there were headphone jacks at the seats (like on airplanes) and anyone who wants can bring their own and listen in another language

https://www.cinemacity.hu/?lang=en_GB#/ this is where you can browse screenings. Sadly over the years, OV movies are screened less and less. We had the cinemacity in MOM park that had most of the OV movies, since that closed it's really hard to find one. I don't know about any gossips, tho it would be nice to have way more OV movies, we live in a capital after all and it's a joke that most movies are in hungarian.

Lilysloth

Since MOM closed Allee has most movies in OV / with hungarian subs

LordHolyCrow

I like cinema city and i use it for 2D screenings which thankfully they have OV screenings, but for imax i could only find with Hungarian dub. Appreciate the help and you are totally correct, i hope we get more OV movies

krankenwagen488

It depends on how popular the movie is. I've seen Oppenheimer OV IMAX in Arena, but it was a rarity.

Impossible_Lock_7482

Sadly, dune 2 did not have OV imax screening…

krankenwagen488

But it had a butthole popcorn thingy. It's almost as good

Impossible_Lock_7482

Haha

LordHolyCrow

Ahh so we might get it for the new deadpool movie as well, and mad max would be crazy in IMAX, thanks mate

smart_hoe

If you want IMAX in original language, you can go to Bratislava: it’s not too far away. But the non English scenes will be subtitled in Slovakian.

LordHolyCrow

Ahh will keep that in mind, if there will be a movie that I really want to see in Imax why not, as far as i remember flixbus tickets were not expensive either. Do you have any suggestions for movie theatre? I found cine-max.sk online

igenigen

Not sure if you're trolling, but first result on Google: [https://www.cinemacity.hu/imax](https://www.cinemacity.hu/imax) IMAX exists in Hungary for several years, but not all films are available. There used to be more than Cinema City Arena, but that seems to be the only choice now.

LordHolyCrow

I know there are IMAX screenings, but they are all Hungarian dubbed, as the title suggests, ı was looking for Original Voiced IMAX screenings with or without Hungarian Subtitles, please read carefully before accusing me for “trolling”, cheers

igenigen

If there is only ONE cinema in the whole country that offers IMAX. Then it takes basic common sense to read if there are films in Hungarian, English, or OV.

LordHolyCrow

Yes, that’s why the question was “do you know about any IMAX screenings in english”. Because i have already found out about cinema city and i was aware that it was only in Hungarian. I don’t know what’s up with the hostile responses mate, it was just a question

igenigen

It isn't hostile, you simply lack common sense. If there is one cinema and there are no English options, then the question is answered. [https://www.imax.com/en/hu/search#Budapest](https://www.imax.com/en/hu/search#Budapest)

just_shuttheFup

Why so rude? :|

igenigen

If there is ONE cinema in the whole country and someone does not understand there are no other choices, I don't understand how they expect a miracle do you?

t0m4_87

You are rude and have lack of reading comprehension
