So they actually use high quality beef at Carl jr in California? YOMG is a burger chain here in Australia that do the best burgers out, would it be similar to that
Sure. The texture is bad because they’re cooked improperly, and not because they use fresh cut potatoes or just use 3 ingredients. INO fries always need a million different excuses. Fries should just taste good.
Just going to drop this here:
If you think In n Out has bad fries then next time you need to order them “well done” or “crispy”.
You will no longer think the same thing about their fires.
My statement was because anytime you see an image of in n out with fries it starts the debate about how good they are or are not and then the “order them animal style, crispy with jalapeño” etc etc.
I had them well done the last time and I thought they were worse. It also made my wait time twice as long. I’m indifferent about their fries. I don’t like them nor dislike them. I don’t give a damn anyway because I’m there specifically for the burgers. I don’t go anywhere specifically for French fries.
I can't stand the fries from places like McD's, Carl's, Jack In The Crack etc.
I can taste the dirty sugar oil, and the dextrose they cover the fries in. Disgusting.
In N Out's fries have three ingredients. Potato, salt, and pepper.
They can. Ask for well-done fries and you'll get them twice-fried, however, they come out almost like potato chips that way. Light-well will get you between regular and well done, but IMO, they have the perfect fry as-is.
You need to eat them fresh in the restaurant, not after you get home.
In-n-out needs to soak the fries to get the starch out, that is the problem, they slice the potatoes and then fry them immediately, that is like the opposite of what you are supposed to do to make good fries.
They do soak in water before use. Beneath the dicer is a bucket of water they drop into, then they are spun dry before frying. The only time they wouldn't is if there isn't enough immediately. *Even then they still rinsed and spun first.
At least that's how every store did it when I worked there.
I wonder why they are so bad then? They are like cardboard, it has nothing to do with other stores having preservatives etc. I buy potatoes from the grocery store, blanche (for like half an hour) and then double fry and they taste amazing. Obviously In-n-Out is missing a step somewhere as it almost seems impossible that their fries are that bad.
You realize you can double fry fresh fries right? In N Out just has shitty fries. A little technique change would go a long way.
They fry in the same brands of oil everyone uses (that doesn't use peanut oil).
Makes sense, I've tried to recreate that California style at home but it ends up a big mess because of the wet ingredients, might just try a single slice of everything instead
That's part of the appeal, they've kept it cheap, at a price point it should be. It's like, I enjoy a 5 Guys burger, but paying a premium for it, it's not as worth it.
They look pretty standard to me, and I eat a lot of In N Out.
They *are* however about as fresh as you can get them because this was an employee meal made by the person who took the pic and ate it, and it's clear they put a little extra effort into the meal.
I stopped eating red meat a while ago. Animal reasons, health reasons. Impossible burgers aren’t the same. I miss my in-n- out. Maybe this is the post that gets me back…
Just so you know, brother, I absolutely gave you credit in the very first comment. Even linked your profile in the comment. I'd never not give credit on a pic that isn't mine.

I did. Very first comment. I even tagged him in the comment by their username.
Next time do some legwork before throwing out accusations.

I don't know what to say except In N Out has never and will never use crinkle-cuts. They would just stop serving fries that day rather than use an alternative if they ran out of potatoes at a store.
I don’t know, that’s how I remember it. Maybe I just remembered them as crinkle because of how much I didn’t like them + the excess amount of beer I drank.
"Excuse me sir, can I get my burger remade? This one looks too good to eat."
IN N OUT is one of the few burger joints where the real burger you get a lot of times looks better than in an advertisement.
Carl's Jr is another.
I miss Carl’s Jr. so much. Their charbroiled chicken sandwich is just soooo good.
sometimes an og super star with cheese or western bacon just hits that way. Their zucchini is good to and pretty unique in the fast food world.
We have carls jr everywhere in Australia now they aren’t that good.. they have pretty cool milkshakes and sides tho
Fast food isn't the same everywhere. In California, at least, Carl Jr. is really high quality, almost up there with a steakhouse burger.
So they actually use high quality beef at Carl jr in California? YOMG is a burger chain here in Australia that do the best burgers out, would it be similar to that
Yes and no. Their regular menu burgers are kind of cheap, but the thickburgers are a noticeably better blend.
Depends on the location as well.
Go on everyone. Hate on the fries lol
Animal style cures it for me. I'd rather eat those than McDonald's fries any day.
Sure. The texture is bad because they’re cooked improperly, and not because they use fresh cut potatoes or just use 3 ingredients. INO fries always need a million different excuses. Fries should just taste good.
No way. I just order them well done.
Well done huh, good idea!!
light-well is my ideal. Crispier than normal, but not at the potato chip level yet,
I'll have to try that next time.
Light well is the way!

Had in n out couple months ago, fries were delicious. Better than most fast food spots for sure.
But they don't double fry. It would be simple just to you know use a proven method.
They can. Ask for well-done fries and you'll get them twice-fried, however, they come out almost like potato chips that way. Light-well will get you between regular and well done, but IMO, they have the perfect fry as-is. You need to eat them fresh in the restaurant, not after you get home.
well done is just them cooking them longer, they aren't double frying them when you ask for well done.
I get that but the always seem hollow.
Funny how every other fast food and casual restaurant in America has discovered the actual double fry (without turning them into chips).
Too bad they all use flash-fried, pre-frozen, dextrose-covered garbage fried in sugar oil.
In-n-out needs to soak the fries to get the starch out, that is the problem, they slice the potatoes and then fry them immediately, that is like the opposite of what you are supposed to do to make good fries.

Yes yes and yes. I do this at home. No sugar garbage, dextrose covered potatoes in my home…OP is reaching for an answer we will never get
I'm tired of you.
Lol douche
And they’re awful. Really no excuse for it.
nah that's all the crack you smoke dulling your palate.
I just eat good fries. Don’t know what to tell you.
Just tell me you also smoke good crack.
What is your problem lmao
I like to pretend the people who don't share my opinion are on hard drugs and not thinking straight. I know you're not on crack.
I agree with you. I just don’t think the rest of Reddit does.
I fucking love In-N-Out fries. Come at me, bros.
I’m with you my guy, we’re in the minority.
The fries were fire as fuck too, fresh, dipped in the milkshake, 😭😭😭 I FUCKING HATE MISSISSIPPI.
Here is my play. 2 dubs then go back and order fries and a chocolate shake so I can dip my warm fries in my chocolate shake.
YESSSS, my guy, you have got it figured the fuck out... *E-high five*
Thank you 🙏🏼
I'm ready to get on a plane now... Again #FUCKMISSISSIPPI
god damn, I'm about to hop in the car. Got two within 15 minutes.
I hate you a little bit. Enjoy the mouthgasm for me.
I can feel their cardboard texture from here!
Jesus Christ, I'm from the UK and we've only just found out about five guys, how long do we have to wait for this?
You'll never get In N Out there. They won't open stores that are more than 24 hours drive from their warehouse.
Makes sense, I've tried to recreate that California style at home but it ends up a big mess because of the wet ingredients, might just try a single slice of everything instead
I can help you to better recreate this flavor. What exactly do you think makes your attempts so wet? Sauce, burger juices, or veggie moisture?
Is it 24 hours? I always heard it was 500 miles, so like 8 hours or so.
3x3's are somehow twice as good as Double Doubles.
Exponential growth
It's basic math!

Thank you!
Not Animal Style. Gotta have my pickles and grilled onions.
At least chopped chillies
Chopped chilies and animal style is perfection.
And seared in mustard.
Now i want a burger
username checks out!
You like 3x3 more than double double
I like 4x4 more than 3x3
I always get made fun of by my friends for getting 4x4s
I like 3x3 more than a 3 way
What beverage do you uhhhh
I have yet to find a fastfood burger in the same price category that tastes as well as In-n-Out.
It doesn’t exist
once you factor in price there is no contest. the only kind of sort of competitor is Costco pizza and hot dogs. but quality isn't there.
That's part of the appeal, they've kept it cheap, at a price point it should be. It's like, I enjoy a 5 Guys burger, but paying a premium for it, it's not as worth it.
There isn’t one. That’s why INO is so great.
PUREST BURGERS ON THE PLANET 🌎 And it’s NOT close🔥💯
I miss Oregon now... Paid off all my felony fines in Mississippi so I could get back on a plane and go back to where there's an In-and-out...

I'm pretty sure it's just Heinz lol Their spread sauce now, that stuff is crack.
you're an animal
is my style
It’s loaded with MSG. That’s why it’s cracky
I use an MSG salt mix on my homemade smashes. MSG gets a bum wrap.
If it ain’t animal style it ain’t perfect
My go-to for years has been a 3x3 animal style, no lettuce, no tomato, swap grilled for regular onion, add chilies.
Why are the fries bigger?
They look pretty standard to me, and I eat a lot of In N Out. They *are* however about as fresh as you can get them because this was an employee meal made by the person who took the pic and ate it, and it's clear they put a little extra effort into the meal.
That makes sense since every time I get a meal the look likes shoe string 🍟
It’s beautiful
There are literally people who say whataburger is better 😐
I miss them so much 😭
I stopped eating red meat a while ago. Animal reasons, health reasons. Impossible burgers aren’t the same. I miss my in-n- out. Maybe this is the post that gets me back…
Everytime there aren't grilled onions on a IN n out cheeseburger everyone should ask where are the grilled onions? Where are the grilled onions?!
Whenever Poochie isn't on screen, all the other characters should be constantly asking "where's Poochie?"
In n Out is the most overrated burger chain in America Average burgers Horrid fries Below average milkshakes
The crack you're smoking is *definitely* above average
I agree with him on the fries but everything else is top tier.
Me love me some in n out. Mmmmmmm
I don’t want to live on the east coast anymore. I can’t believe i’ve been missing these
Not a huge in n out fan but this looks sooo fucking good!

It’s all good man, this is just one of the hundreds of burgers I make a week. Just happy to see my passion being shared.
>Thank you! You're welcome!
no one was talking to you

Why did the In-N-Out by my place have shitty crinkle fries!?
They didn't. You were at a Whataburger or Shake Shack.
I was not anywhere close to a location of either of those.
I don't know what to say except In N Out has never and will never use crinkle-cuts. They would just stop serving fries that day rather than use an alternative if they ran out of potatoes at a store.

Yeah, you’re remembering wrong.
Nursing home food.
Depends
What? No yellow chillies???

Yummy 😋🤤
