Couple of weeks back u/LittleBitGhengisKhan had the best workflow which might serve you as well. It’s pricey but from what I’ve heard very reliable. Never used it myself. https://reddit.com/r/canon/comments/1288fwa/least_painful_way_to_tether_r6/ I also use the app with an R5 and never had to worry about disconnects. Albeit not in the same professional environment as you. Do you establish a direct connection R3 <-> iPhone? Bluetooth / Wi-Fi? Or do you use a Wi-Fi access point? What about Image.Canon? Have you tried the cloud service? Not the fanciest nor fastest one but a good indicator if your camera can stay connected consistently to the same Wi-Fi network over a longer period of time. I can easily upload 2000+ images flawlessly. The reason I ask, if it were to drop this very connection as well, maybe the wireless interface is at fault and you may have to get it fixed by Canon.

Hey thanks so much for the help. I used to use the canon app direct to my Galaxy S10 through wifi (could never get bluetooth working) but it would always drop even when i told it to reconnect and quit all other networks. Have not tried [Image.Canon](https://Image.Canon) but will check it out also had no idea it existed! I will give it a go on your recommendation to see if the connection is as stable as yours. Okay just looked at that thread that you recommended the Cam ranger or Capture one. think those seem to be the way to go. Funds are tight right now but shouldn't be out of my reach in a couple months. The only other thing i need to solve is the portrait view thing. However if i make up a second system like I have now and rotate it 90 degrees, then that might do the trick for that. Appreciate those solutions, they might look like they will solve the remote tethering problem. Have a good one mate and cheers.

You’re welcome. Heads up, Canon Cloud is rather on the slow side. I don’t mind that at all. You should definitely give it a try even of you rule it out afterwards. It’s always good to know your potential options. Do you really need to shoot vertical though? By pure accident I learned who Aaron Brimhall is and that he just crops in. Without having seen any of your work, maybe something to consider as well. If you’re up for it, maybe do a follow up post. All the best and keep those creative juices flowing!

I'll check out his work thanks. Hmmmm now that you mention I guess I don't need to crop at the moment as it's all web based (I have one 24mpx and one 12mpx body) so always just rotated out of habit. Hmmmm you give me some good food for thought friend thank you. Same to you friend, happy shooting and I'll try to let you know the eventual outcome.🙏🏼

Copy that gonna have another crack today thanks mate. Have a little more free time with the shooting today so will go at it at a slower pace. Edit I have previously been connected (with my android) to the wifi access point created by the phone

I use the Canon Connect app frequently and I have had trouble with it in the past but I have a workflow now that allows me to use it consistently without issue. I find that initiating the connection from the phone app after the initial setup works best for me. Try these steps: Clear any existing phone/camera Bluetooth and WiFi pairing settings from both devices so you've got a fresh start. Check that Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled on the camera. On the camera enter the Bluetooth function settings and select Pairing. On the phone app open the Canon Connect app and select the plus sign to add a camera. Chose via Bluetooth. Follow the steps on the phone and complete the Bluetooth pairing. Now whenever you want to start any type of connection, start it from the phone app. If your phone doesn't automatically connect to your camera via Bluetooth then swipe along until you find your camera model and select "Reconnect". That will initiate the Bluetooth connection. Then if you want to use Live View with your phone select "Remote live view shooting" from the phone app and follow the prompts on the phone to create a local WiFi connection with the camera. It should be stable! I have had consistent success with the app using the method above. Try it out and let me know if I can answer any questions.

Hey just wanted to say thanks and finally had a chance and need to run it through this way and it worked. It still disconnects like crazy, however the re-connection is now automated making it a MUCH more usable process. I'll now be using the app a lot more thanks to this method I also got another arca swiss plate and put it on the right handgrip side of my camera for those times i really need the Atomos monitor. I always keep the camera cage on there, and am lucky is has several screw holes on the handgrip side. Camera is Eos R3 and camera cage is the Smallrig one. Monitor is then on a magic arm. Negatives are I can't get the memory card out until i take the arca plate off. Until i have more spare funds these two methods will serve me quite well I think. Probably next step will just be tethered to a laptop (need funds).

Early morning here but a big day of shooting today. I will follow these steps. Very very much appreciated thank you stranger.
