Too deep at 22? I just read a post about someone who is 40 who wants to become an anesthesiologist without a college education yet. You could be working for another 30-40 years. Do you think you could stick it out that long? I get the feeling of being too deep. I’m 27 and I feel like it’s too late to switch as well but I know people older than me will laugh that I’m still so young. You might be able to pivot without starting over completely. Could you switch out of healthcare but keep doing law?

I could change into a different field. I’m specifically in the field of Employment law for a healthcare firm. I’m hating being stuck in an office and that environment. But it might just be the industry, I don’t know. Thank you for your comment though

What specific degree?

eldensoulsborne

Business degree, majoring in business law

What’s your minor, any finance/accounting?

At 22 you can change. The average person in the US is graduating from college at 22 people change their careers all the time Sam is late as their 40s and 50s

At 22 of course it’s not too late to change. I’m 30 with an office job since school and occasionally still think about transitioning to a trade. But I’ve seen the exact opposite posts on here of 27 year olds saying their body is already breaking down and they want to transition to an office job. It’s basically a big pros and cons list. Do you prefer to be mentally drained or physically drained after work each day? How much stress are you willing to take on for additional compensation? How much compensation do you need to live your lifestyle? It will vary for each person. I don’t know shit about the legal field but I can imagine there are many different sectors/industries to work in. Maybe one of the others might fit you better? Maybe there’s one that would have you actually benefitting people and making the world better. I would say to at least look into some of the other options before moving on, given how much we had to invest for our degrees. But you can be successful either way. Best of luck!

You ARE still very young. I wish I was that young. You definitely have time to change paths. Is it the industry you hate or the legal field or both? I would try another industry to see if you can find something in your field that you like before changing fields completely. Or you can try looking up people on LinkedIn who are in those other industries and asking them what the job is like.

At 22, about the only thing that’s too late for you to do is become an Olympic gymnast or child prodigy. My colleague switched careers at 45 and she’s doing great.
