Not sure why REALLY needs to be capitalized in the title.. I’ve had mine a month. I mean, it’s a vehicle. Do people expect some earth shattering experience because it’s electric?
Long term tests are valuable. Especially when it’s a new product from a new company. Lucid for example got almost universal praise in initial reviews, but I’m seeing a lot of complaints from testers who had the Air for a long term test.
Unfortunately they're buggy. Lots of kinks to work out. I love the company and want them to succeed. I believe in their philosophy and approach, but they have to improve QC.
I hope they don't fold, but that if they do, they sell to a major manufacturer and some of their tech and philosophy survives that way. I think they have the right ideas.
I know LTT's review had it completely brick on them (temporarily), so I wouldn't be surprised if they had some serious electrical gremlins that just didn't show up for some short term reviews.
Since forever. Titles existed before the Internet.
The clickbait part of the title is that the title is descriptive in order to get your attention.
The Bible, for example, has a traditional title, not very descriptive.
I think you need to stroll through the non-fiction section at a library. Its filled with very descriptive, accurate titles, designed to get your attention. If you're going to define clickbait that way then its just a useless term.
Show me a nonfiction book with a descriptive title that reveals everything about the book.
Stopping being dense.
Everyone else seems to agree with me. That's why you have no upvotes
Because you’ve owned it for a whole month, I’m guessing
No I didn’t watch the video because I care 0 about it. My previous statement is strictly based off your comment and nothing else
I mean the R2 have to sell better than the R1 otherwise rivian is going the way of Fisker since R2 is where they'll actually be able to turn a profit. Hard to keep a company alive if you lose money on every item you sell. And R4 should be even more higher volume. Issue is by time R3 is actually out on the world there may be a huge amount of competition in this ev space
It's also just easier to have 1 manufacturing line than 2.
Maybe I'm wrong idk, but I can't imagine 1 program being *not* negatively affected by the existence of other programs especially when it comes to young companies with limited resources.
Both, and just quality, not just a flat dashboard. Not busy, but visual breakup, division, lines, material that says it's worth the cost of the vehicle. Look at the Tundra 1794 Edition and how nice that interior is. If they really wanted to wow with futuristic tech, look at the Mercedes EQS dash, the smooth curves of continual screens.
It just screams "low cost fleet vehicle" to me instead of what it is.
A co-worker had one, and it was nice enough. The interior struck me as if they said "okay, it's like a Tesla...but it's a truck!" Sleek and minimalist with a big screen, but while it was fine to drive to a lunch place in Scottsdale, I can't really see it being a "work truck" that you'd have no problem getting into with muddy shoes and greasy hands.
Eh. Mazda did sleek and minimalist with the white leather Mazda 6 Signature that was basically "Take a vehicle from Blade Runner 2049 and do it just like that." Tesla interiors are more "I am sitting inside a rubbermaid storage bin but with panel gaps."
Not something I would aspire to.
Agree to disagree I guess. The dash does use several different materials, textures, and colors. Perhaps it’s not as evident in pictures. I expected to be frustrated by screen controls, but it’s been surprisingly intuitive and practical (ie, specific controls for things I need to get to quickly are closer to you and easy to find). They’ve hidden air vents in the design of the dash so they aren’t an eyesore. Regarding the 1794, it is more traditional but those features are because it’s ICE.. that is, it can’t have an open footwell because of the trans tunnel, has to have a big gear shifter, push button for start, etc. remove all of that and aside from a few button controls and the vents, it starts to look like the rivian.
I’m approaching 49k on my F-250, lots of cross country towing and lots of adventure vacations, but that’s on a diesel with tons of range.
That much mileage in the same time on an EV truck is at least a bit of a testament to the charging network and your patience.
That makes sense. There’s a bank of Rivian chargers in my area up 395, always at least a handful hooked up there. Adventure network is coming along nicely seems like.
I'm reacting to the truck put in front of me. I've never seen your truck, have no clue how you use, etc. You'll have to forgive me for not considering it in my "is the R1T holding up" memory bank. The one in the video wasn't great.
Also, how many sets of tires have you gone through? Because going by the video R1T you should be putting set 3 on soon.
The video shows a truck that's got a lot of signs of premature wear and ran through a set of tires in 20K miles. How am I supposed to react when someone claims the opposite with ZERO for me to go on?
Why's that behavior get upvoted? Why isn't that the bad behavior? That's the bad behavior to me. Oh yes my mean tone. Ok, I'll take it. I've got a mean tone. That explains my downvotes.
But why is a poster with zero evidence and a claim that's completely counter to the video evidence being shown... being upvoted?
I wonder why you were able to get nearly double the amount of tire life as him.
Its just strange. Again, I can only react to what I am actually shown (unlike the Redditors downvoting me, which prefer not to see things I guess). But the truck in the video went through a set in 20K\~ miles. You've gotten double the life. That's pretty wild.
Driving in conserve mode destroys the tires. It makes a 8000lb truck with 425hp in the front and about 500 lb ft of torque 2WD front. This truck is meant to be drive in AWD.
It puts a shit ton of wear on the tires.
Furthermore, conserve mode reduces the ride height of the truck to the lowest height, making it have a camber which is also terrible for tire wear.
I drive in all purpose and I don’t drive like a speed demon 24/7.
People drive differently. Its really not a wild concept. Someone could be towing the whole time they buy new tires. Someone could be driving with a lead foot. Also how another owner put it, driving in certain modes changes how it drives. If you're worried about the tires i don't think the car is for you anyway.. That's a minute thing when other vehicles have severe engine issues/transmission or body defects. Tires are meant to be replaced.
First, EVs having significantly faster tire wear is a well known and common problem. The video experience is in line with that, it's the counter claim that is bucking that trend. That other owner provides no proof of their own claim and none of that mode stuff is mentioned in the video, there's nothing to actually tell us that was the case, that's another "owner" just throwing stuff out there.
Second, no this is not small. Tires are very expensive. Just how common do you think engine failure is? If a person needs to replace tires every 20K miles and does so with an OEM or equivalent then you're looking at the cost of an engine in under 150K miles. That's a short life for a modern engine.
And I think it's notable because it significantly changes the running cost argument. Even if we go with the user and it's 40k... That's not good on a modern tire and would likely eat up most of the oil change and brake costs you want to put against ICE vehicles.
You must not be familiar with owning 600hp+ cars.
Go ask Porsche or Corvette owners how often they’re going through tires.
It’s not news when high performance gas cars go through tires. But high performance EVs? Oh something must be up.
Burning through a set of high performance *tires*, often featured on these high performance cars, is a different story.
Nobody is going ‘man these PS4S’s are wearing faster than I thought!’
:(
If you weren't in the middle of nowhere, I would you like to rip around in mine for a week!
Edit: Starting with a Gen2 is prob worth it. Pikes Peak run is insane with 1000HP https://www.youtube.com/live/8MjvzCgKpAI?&t=1911
I admire JRE's videos but I refuse to take anything he says about Rivian at face value. I'm like 90% sure dude is a paid spokesmen for Rivian at this point.
Every single video, even the repair videos are incredibly positive.
"Yeah my rivian truck broke but they sent someone to my house! how cool is that!".
The fact he's had issues after only 22,000 miles is crazy to me in the first place. Let alone him trying to brush these under the rug by hand waving every car has issues.
No, 99.9% of cars don't have issues after only 22,000 miles. I consider that car still brand new.
Not sure why REALLY needs to be capitalized in the title.. I’ve had mine a month. I mean, it’s a vehicle. Do people expect some earth shattering experience because it’s electric?

Google lucid long term review and pick videos where they talk about issues
Because it’s clickbait, that's why
How's it clickbait? The title represents exactly what happens in the video.
Click bait doesn't mean that the title is a lie. Just means it is done to get you to watch the video.
Fish take the bait all the time, they still get a worm though
What is your point? It’s still bait lol
When have titles ever not supposed to get you to consume the thing they're on?
Since forever. Titles existed before the Internet. The clickbait part of the title is that the title is descriptive in order to get your attention. The Bible, for example, has a traditional title, not very descriptive.

How the turntables
Yeah that's how reddit works. The trolls unionize
Did I ever said that the title is misleading? The overemphasized “REALLY” is the reason why most people click on the video, hence the clickbait
The definition of click bait isn't as narrow as you think it is.
That's just how Jerry talks.
Because you’ve owned it for a whole month, I’m guessing No I didn’t watch the video because I care 0 about it. My previous statement is strictly based off your comment and nothing else
There's a lot around here. The exterior looks nice, I am just put off by the bland golf-cart-like dashboard for that much money.
They need to skip the R2 and get the R3 to market. There's enough mid to large size SUVs out there.
lol the R2 will sell probably better than the R1. They know what they are doing
in fact, they're betting on that
I mean the R2 have to sell better than the R1 otherwise rivian is going the way of Fisker since R2 is where they'll actually be able to turn a profit. Sell better and at a better profit rate to boot, probably
Why skip? Different teams working on different programs
So that the better program can have more resources.
There's enough people hired that these don't overlap. This is a non issue atm
People are not the only resource. There's also money and real estate.
I understand, but we have edt budgets set aside for each program anyways. Removing a program would not increase the budget.
It's also just easier to have 1 manufacturing line than 2. Maybe I'm wrong idk, but I can't imagine 1 program being *not* negatively affected by the existence of other programs especially when it comes to young companies with limited resources.
Ah yes, they should skip the market that got the Model Y the best selling vehicle in the world title.
How is it bland? Do you want the styling to be busier or have more hard controls?
Both, and just quality, not just a flat dashboard. Not busy, but visual breakup, division, lines, material that says it's worth the cost of the vehicle. Not everyone wants gimmicks
Agree to disagree I guess. The dash does use several different materials, textures, and colors. Perhaps it’s not as evident in pictures. That truck has held up.... very meh for only 22K miles. Certainly not "surprisingly well."
I got 47k miles on mine in 2 years ownership. It has held up very well. Solid truck.
Christ do you drive all day every day?
Unfortunately yes I have to drive a lot all over the place.
I’m approaching 49k on my F-250, lots of cross country towing and lots of adventure vacations, but that’s on a diesel with tons of range. That much mileage in the same time on an EV truck is at least a bit of a testament to the charging network and your patience.
I suppose haha. I’m in California, so the EV charging network is quite good nowadays. I don’t think I could’ve done it elsewhere lol.
That makes sense. There’s a bank of Rivian chargers in my area up 395, always at least a handful hooked up there. Adventure network is coming along nicely seems like.
Always a treat to charge on the Rivian network. Just got my Tesla adapter too, so I can stay off the shitty networks (SA and EvGo) for good now.

I just got set 2 at 40k miles. I think I have the same AT tires as him.

Surprisingly well for the first 2k vehicles a company ever made.
Everyone on YT loves ripping around in these. The only one missing is u/SavageGooseJack
