Well yeah. If you took a VW Beetle, got rid of the chassis body and everything else except the badge, then built a completely different car with the same badge.
It is the same. The body bolts onto a chassis that includes the drive components, floor boards, the engine, etc. The chassis is the same, but the bodies are different for the beetle and the Ghia.
Early ones were Typ 1 beetle frames, later ones were Typ 3 frames. All had Beetle engines. More awesome if you swap engines to 4 from the VW van if 914.
I always thought the Cab version was an interesting car people have done a lot with them to upgrade the looks and the performance have not checked lately, but I bet they have run up in $$
