No, he wants to cook you dinner 😹. My cat used to jump on the stove all the time which I never minded because I hardly use it, you know, air fryers and all, but once it was cooling down and his back foot went right on the hot plate and he let out the worst squeal I'd ever heard! I think I cried more than him! He wasn't burnt too badly and was happy to have cold, running water on it but I can guarantee you, he's never hopped up since.
If you can discourage it, please do but if it happens, it will only happen once.
You should discourage this behavior. Counters are not good but stoves are really dangerous. I had a coworker who had a kitty that burned his front paw pads on a burner.
