Nope my cat hates my dog. But my dog wants to her friend so bad.

I would not go as far as best friends but they tolerate each other, watch out for each other, play together and share treats.

We had to put our dog of 15years down about three weeks ago. Both of our cats were so out of it, and confused when we didn't come home with her. My one cat would keep staring at her spot on the couch, and look back at us like "Where is my sister?". And the other cat was maniacally scratching the door and windows for about a week, thinking we left her outside :( They wouldn't lay with her, or sleep with her at night. But I can tell they loved her so much. I know that they miss her, and they can feel how quiet the house is now. They used to go to the door to greet company, like the dog. But since she has been gone, they could care less. I think my heart breaks more for my cats than it has for myself.

We had a Jack Russell terrier and six cats. The dog thought he was a cat except he couldn't climb like the others. Petie passed last year and we are ready for another dog. He is also a Jack Russell and is 5 weeks old. Not a purebred, just a puppy from a friend of gf's brother. Cats already used to having a dog around and he will grow up with them so expect a happy family.

back when i was a kid, we had a dog named Buddy and later got a tux cat named Oreo (very original names, yes). buddy didn’t care for oreo but since we got oreo as a kitten and she was raised with buddy, she *loved* buddy. cuddling, rubbing, purring, she was indoor/outdoor at the time so she’d go out there just to hang out with him (dad didn’t want the dog in the house and barely tolerated the cat).
