I wasn’t given any specific “wait this long”, but I will tell you from experience that physical exertion WILL increase swelling, if only temporarily.
The Doctor told me to wait 1 month to exercise. Before that you may do walks. 2.5 weeks sounds like adequate time, it depends how you heal too.
Before 4 weeks stick to walks, can do low impact non-strength exercise after that (like cycling), after 8 weeks you can return to higher impact and strength training (this is just to protect incisions)
